[ha-Safran] Holocaust related e-catalog available

2016-05-04 Thread judaica man

To all Members of HaSafran: Tonight we commemorate Yom Hashoah, a day of
National mourning of the destruction of European Jewry. Not only were 6 million
Jews murdered, but thousands of Jewish communities all over Europe: from the
beach of Le Mans in the west to the suburbs of Moscow and the shores of the
Volga to the East. The survivors of those communities took great efforts to
remember their loved ones by compiling Yizkor books which contained memories,
photo's and stories not found in any other sources. The classical Jewish town
in Eastern Europe is no more, and the only thing in its stead are these Yizkor
books, Museums and oral testimonies captured on film and picture. The e-catalog
that I am sending is entirely devoted to the Shoa and these Jewish communities.
There are only 36 items, just like the 36 hidden Tzadikim of Jewish legends
that are like Yor Zeit candles to a world that was destroyed and is no more.
All who would like to receive the catalog are invited to email me.
Sincerely,
Dr. Baruch Falach : Rare books, Manuscripts and Jewish Arts. Mobile:

[ha-Safran] Offer of new book on Pshat of the Torah by Rabbi Pachter

2014-06-12 Thread judaica man

Dear Friends and Patrons,
I am proud to be the distributor of a new book (in Hebrew): The depth of
Pshat: Understandings on the weekly Torah portion according to the Pshat. By
Rabbi Ido Pachter, September 2014, self published. The book is in 2 volumes,
268+329 pages, hardcover.Rabbi Ido Pachter is the Rabbi of the Young Israel of
Poleg Netanya, co-editor of Mekor Rishon as well as an editor of the weekly
Torah sheet, Around the Table. He also lectures at various academic and
educational institutions. His works specialize in understanding the Tanach,
Halacha and Philosophy of the Rambam, as well as modern society and the
Halacha. Rabbi Pachter's father Prof Mordechai Pachter is the well know scholar
on Kabbalah and Hassidism. In this work, Rabbi Pachter's approach to the Torah
is refreshing and unique and goes to the Pshat in our understanding of the
Torah. In the beginning of this work, Pachter makes reference to one of Israeli
Supreme Court Justice Aaron Barak's innovation on contracts -which caused an
uproar when it was introduced- and uses it as a springboard in the
understanding of the Torah. Brand new, price is $30, postage overseas is
$15.Respectfully, Dr. Baruch Falach

[ha-Safran] New Hebrew Literature e-catalog available

2014-04-30 Thread judaica man

Dear Friends and Patrons,

My latest monthly catalog of Jewish books is now available. The topic of the
listings is Jewish literature, divided into 2 categories: 1) Literature of the
Medieval Period and 2) Modern Hebrew Literature starting with the works of
Moshe Chayim Luzzato, as Bialik delineated the timeline for that period.

The catalog contains over 150 items of which we have just one copy of each
book, so orders are on a first come first served basis. We will be happy to
answer any questions you may have, and feel free to ask us for books on the
topic as well and we will try to find them for you.

Respectfully, Dr. Baruch Falach
