[ha-Safran] "Be Torah" in Hebrew

2015-10-30 Thread Ann Abrams
Dear safranim,

We’re doing an exhibit for our senior rabbi, who’s retiring, and he did a
sermon years ago, called “Be Torah”—in the imperative, that had a big
impact on our congregation. The exhibit folks want to have that be a
centerpiece of one of their panels, and are interested in seeing what it
would look like in Hebrew.

My best guess on this would be one of these, below, but I’d love to get
 input from Hebrew scholars:

Heh-yay Torah הייה תורה

Heh-vay Torah הוה תורה

 Thank you!

Ann

Re: [ha-Safran] "Be Torah" in Hebrew

2015-10-30 Thread Andrea Rapp
My rabbi has a similar saying:

Be a blessing.
   T'hiyeh brachah.
A softer way to use the command is to use the future tense,
I'd guess that's what your rabbi would say.
   T'hiyeh Torah.
