1. A book about a smoke grenade that was published by the "Matkal" (General 
Staff) on the day of the declaration of the state of Israel!! Books of this day 
are extremely rare and have a museum value. 

 

2. Only one artistic portrait in the world of the most famous Jewish 
philosopher in the 20th century : Martin Buber. A special artwork. After the 
death of Professor Yosef Agassi and his wife Judith Buber Agassi, who is the 
granddaughter of Martin Buber. 

 

3. Paintings and lithographs from the Buber-Agassi collection and other 
collections. 

 

4. The Golden Book of "HaGashash HaHiver" that is signed by the three members 
of the "Gashash" and their legendary manager Pashanel. Very rare. 

 

5. A collection of playbooks with hundreds of handwriting notes by Omri Nitzan, 
the legendary director of the Cameri Theatre. 

 

6. A very rare book by Avraham Elmalih about the false messiah Sabbatai Zevi, 
it's bound with ten very rare books in Jewish studies. 

 

7. A very rare collection of periodicals and publications of Satmar Hasidic 
group, most of them were written before the Holocaust!

the noted Rabbi,  the “Levush", among  many others. It was a massive 
undertaking using Ancestry, historical records, visits to meet cousins all over

What stories can a book tell us beyond the words on its pages? In the aftermath 
of the immense destruction to Polish Jewry wrought by the Holocaust, Jewish 
cultural activists went to enormous lengths to rebuild. In this talk, Dr. 
Rachelle Grossman will tell the surprising story of Yiddish books published in 
postwar Poland. Using the unique holdings of the HUC Klau Library collections, 
this talk will focus on the efforts of Yiddish publishers working under 
communism to reclaim a literary heritage and chart a new direction for the 
language and culture.

*Hebrew Book Transcribers Wanted*

Do you love Hebrew manuscripts? If so, the MiDRASH project wants you! In
2022, the European Research Council awarded its first ERC Synergy grant of
€10 million for a six-year, Israeli-led project to analyze and examine
medieval Hebrew manuscripts. MiDRASH – Migrations of Textual and Scribal
Traditions via Large-Scale Computational Analysis of Medieval Manuscripts
in Hebrew Script - was the first ERC Synergy grant for Jewish studies, as
well as for computational manuscripts.
The time has now come for hands-on involvement, with 14,000 digital Hebrew
books from which to choose. MiDRASH, in collaboration with NLI, is
organizing a hybrid "transcribathon" week to take place in Paris

from March 3 through 6 from 10:00-19:00 (Israel time). Tasks will include
automatic transcription correction and catalog enrichment. Online training
will be provided. Participants may apply till February 28. So, don't
