Zalila willing to face disciplinary committee
KUALA LUMPUR: Zalila Yusof, who made all sorts of
allegations against Puteri
Umno pro tem chief Azalina Othman Said, will be
happy to be called before
the Umno disciplinary committee to explain her
action in lodging a police
report against her former boss.
The Puteri member said as she was new to Umno, she
did not know all the
rules and regulations of the party.
I am just 26-years-old. I only joined Umno when
Puteri was formed. I
thought anything to do with corruption, I must go to
the police and make a
report so that is why I did it.
I am so sorry that I did not know I should bring
this up to the party
instead. I never intended to side-step Umno, she
said when contacted
yesterday.
Zalila said after secretary-general Tan Sri Khalil
Yaakob advised Puteri
members last week to use party channels to make
their complaints or
allegations, she did precisely that.
I then filed my complaint against Azalina with Umno
and backed this with
all the evidence. I would be happy to meet the
disciplinary committee or Pak
Lah (deputy president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad
Badawi) to explain and
answer any queries they have, she said.
On Friday, the Umno deputy president said after
chairing the management
committee meeting that Zalila could face
disciplinary action for taking
party matters to the police instead of referring
them through the proper
party channels.
In Muar, Umno vice president Tan Sri Muhyiddin
Yassin urged party leaders at
all levels to give their fullest support to Puteri
as the wing had the
potential to become a strong fortress of the party.
He said this was because the entity had managed to
attract about 100,000
young Malay women.
Since Puteri is very young, Umno leaders, including
Wanita, should give
whatever assistance necessary to help Puteri members
manage their wings,''
he said when launching the Pagoh Puteri Umno
division delegates meeting
yesterday.
