[hlds_linux] Synergy canals4 doesnt exist

2010-01-02 Thread zeevs86
I have downloaded synergy linux server from hlds.
Started the server from the first map.
The server crashed twice after canals3
Then I noticed that hlds didnt download the third map of
canals, it doesnt exist in the maps folder. I think that is
the reason why the server crashed.

Please fix it.

i re-downloaded without the -dir param.

but now when i run the l4d2 server, the whole system crashes.

It's x64, maybe x32 would be better?

Typically if you don't have the right compat libs installed, it will just
say that it cannot find the executable, not crash.

Which release of Ubuntu are you using?

From what I remember the canal maps should be loaded from the half-life
2 game cache. I suggest contacting someone on the Synergy development
team, see http://synergymod.net/Team for more information.

[hlds_linux] How to disallow crafting on TF2 servers?

2010-01-02 Thread Ronny Schedel
Hi,

we have alot of players standing around and crafting on a full server. This
is huge impact for the game play if the half team is afk. Is there some way
to prevent the crafting server side? I have checked the cvarlist without
success.

Best regards

Hi,

I dont know of a convar to stop crafting but you could probably write a
script which kicks all players who stand in the spawn room for more than
1-2 minutes. I'm assuming that they are crafting in the spawn room as
doing it anywhere else would just get them killed.

I have a hard time imagining how crafting can have such a big impact on
gameplay.
It's not like it takes long. How is it even possible for people to have
enough items
so that they can occupy themselves with crafting for a considerable
amount of time?

I guess I falsely assumed everybody knows about:

In that case I can see how this would be an issue.

Try deleting scripts/items/items_game.ctx

Then you should get this message on server: No scripts/items/items_game file
found. May be unable to create items.

Not sure if this will have any effect on the clients, but you can try and
see.

AFK/other timewasters can be a big problem on high-volume
high-popularity servers. My local heros @3FL always have queues of 5-6
people at any given time during peak periods trying to join particular
servers.

Re: [hlds_linux] How to disallow crafting on TF2 servers?

2010-01-02 Thread Nephyrin Zey
The crafting is entirely client - steam, there's no way to stop it
that i know of, but you can certainly see when it happens and take
action. Make a script that times how long someone is in the spawnroom.
Have it also hook the player crafted item event. If they craft multiple
items and are in the spawnroom for more than 45 seconds, or some such,
kick them for idling. Alternately, just kick them whenever they craft
more than one item in x minutes. etc..

Seriously however, i've never had so many people crafting that it
actually affects gameplay. I dont think i've ever even seen two people
afk crafting at once.
