[hlds_linux] Left 4 Dead 2 official server lag/crash
From about 6am EDT official servers started crashing. What did Valve do this time, I think this Friday's update is not out yet. Servers crash at the same time, it shouldn't happen this way if forked server is used. [hlds_linux] L4D/L4D2 addon maps
Hi, Is there a way to see how many times an addon map vpk is used over time? I have a lot of addon maps on the server. It seems some are quite popular but some are never used. I have hlxce but it only shows map name instead of vpk name so I cant find out which vpk I should delete. Sure I can view map names in vpk with gcfscape but I want a way for batch operation(generate a list of vpk==map names). Thanks. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
[hlds_linux] L4D/L4D2 Lobby reservation
Hi, I don't know how exactly lobby reservation works. Yesterday I saw a couple lines in console saying reservation failed because map doesn't exist. Can someone explain how lobby match making system works in l4d/l4d2? 1. How does master server pick server for lobby? When does it happen? I notice mm_dedicated_force_servers doesn't not reserve a server until the game starts. And no reservation information in console unless there is an error. 01:58:02 L 04/25/2011 - 01:58:00: World triggered Round_Start 01:58:02 L 04/25/2011 - 01:58:00: [META] Loaded 0 plugins (1 already loaded) 01:58:02 L 04/25/2011 - 01:58:00: Preventing spawning 01:58:03 L 04/25/2011 - 01:58:00: server_message: quit 01:58:03 L 04/25/2011 - 01:58:00: Log file closed 01:58:03 L 04/25/2011 - 01:58:00: server_message: restart 01:58:03 L 04/25/2011 - 01:58:00: Log file started (file logs/.log) (game left4dead2/left4dead2) (version 4490) 01:58:03 L 04/25/2011 - 01:58:00: Loading map c1m1_hotel 01:58:03 L 04/25/2011 - 01:58:00: server cvars start 2. I used to have a lot of addon maps and every time I restart the server console says something like too many addon maps, not advertising blahblah map. So servers actually send available map list to master server? And those maps not advertised normally never get used? What can explain that lobby reservation failure(map doesn't exist on server) 3. Does server have control over lobby reservation? I know lobby reservation can be removed with sm plugins. Can server modify lobby information like permission(friend only/ public), game mode( from what I remember if lobby reservation exists, forcing game mode change on server sends all players back to lobby) and full/ not-full. I am not sure if there is a flag for full or only number matters. If a server has more than 8 slots, can players join the server via quick search in game? l4dtoolz can patch match making and shows more available slots in steam group servers. Will master server send players to a server that already has 8 players(like 8/16)? [hlds_linux] L4D2 server shutdown before players finish loading bug
Hi, I find sometimes server will shutdown before player finish loading in versus mode. If players on one team finish loading and those on the other team haven't, the server may shutdown competitive mode needs players on both teams. After it says Server shutting down, I can even see players on the other team. And when we returned to lobby, all 8 players were there. I think a recent update is causing this problem. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
Re: [hlds_linux] hide rules from server queries
Thanks. Why some servers don't reply nextlevel(official l4d2 servers do reply an empty filed nextlevel)? I also notice os field is always linux, if it's a windows server, then there's no os field. Is it possible to actually hide sv_steamgroup even it's in A2S_INFO? [hlds_linux] anything wrong with l4d2 master server?
Hi, Last night I only have 45 l4d2 servers(both official and community servers, including my own servers) listed in my server browser. Usually there are around 1775 servers. I figured something was wrong with master server. Can someone confirm this? BTW since the dlc update, sometimes players get invisible. When this happens, I can only see the weapon/medkit of survivors and special infected including witch are completely invisible. I've also noticed survivors without weapon(imagine in CS:S how players without weapons look like..). Does it have something to do with the server? Any information about when dedicated servers can run addons again? Re: [hlds_linux] hide rules from server queries
But how? I think windows/linux servers handle queries differently. On Tue, Oct 12, 2010 at 8:03 PM, Nicholas Hastings nshasti...@gmail.com wrote: Yes.
