Valve is doing nothing, nor should they be. People have the right to
name their server whatever they'd like.

If they don't do anything, then get the lawyers.

Always make sure that you have your trademarks in order, or else someone can
just come along and trademark it for you and basically take over your
community name. AG had to become a company, so you might have to look into

 Or just harden up.

Try contacting the server owners and ask them what the deal is.

Appreciated people want to grow strong communities, but posting on a
mailing list is not going to help.

The most you can do is contact VALVe *i.e not this mailing list* and
make them aware of the fake server listings.

Well, Christopher said the server isn't actually there. And that it is
basically only used to advertise in the server browser. So 1 is out of
the question, and 3 is (as you said yourself) no longer an issue.

Which leaves me with 2. Which is pretty fucked up :P

Ok, let me get this straight.
There are servers that use YOUR name but can't be connected to.
And they do that to advertise in the serverbrowser.
So they advertise your name and gain nothing from it.

What is the point? Promote your brand for fun?

They have a system for tf2, which makes running a redirect server or
fakeserver pointless. It leads eventually to delisting bad servers. So
whenever player connects and leaves, the server loses only points. I
wouldn't be surprised if the system has already spread to other games
too. Perhaps not to cs 1.6 though.

I called there Hosting company and explained in detail. A day or 2 later ,
there servers were renamed.

I'd call there hosting company and explain they are naming there servers to

Let them know your upset about it and not going to drop the issue till it's

Maybe we got lucky idk, but it WORKED.
