Re: [hlds_linux] Left 4 Dead Update Available

2009-10-01 Thread DKA-MUG brown

From my testing since my last email it does fix the lobby, but servers still
do drop off the lobby system after usage, but only sometimes ( a restart fixes
this), it clearly fixes groups, I have not tested if it fixes direct IP
connection, but I suspect it would.

I only discovered it by trial and error and can see no logical reason why
sv_region would do this, but hey it works lol.

Cheers,

I guess the lobby system checks where the player is from and tries to
define closest server but fails miserably. I know for a fact that
while i played yesterday, there were lots of empty servers in this
country but i got assigned to 200ms+ servers. That lobby thing is far
from perfect.

Re: [hlds_linux] Left 4 Dead Update Available - Stil cannot use -IP

2009-09-30 Thread Ronny Schedel
Remove the -ip part and specify your public IP address with +ip

Server stil cannot start using command +ip 192.168.1.2 -ip
 78.107.254.109.

It is behind NAT and firewall and cannot be moved to the external at all.

 The full command:

 /home/steam/l4d/srcds_run +clientport 27004+## +hostport 27014+##
 +systemlinkport 27034+## +exec server##.cfg +ip 192.168.1.2 -ip
 78.107.254.109 -steamport STEAMPORT+## -fork 4 -netconport 91##
 -netconpassword **t -game left4dead -pidfile
 /home/steam/l4d/left4dead/l4d.pid

Whar I got to do? May be I do use some depricated commands??

A new, highly recommended Left 4 Dead update is now available. Please
 run
hldsupdatetool to receive the update. The specific changes include:

 - Made the variable mp_gamemode available again. Note that you can also
load maps directly with different game modes by specifying it in the map
command. For example, map l4d_garage01_alleys versus will set
 mp_gamemode
versus for you automatically and load the first map of Crash Course
 - Added mm_dedicated_force_servers to allow specification of a list of
dedicated server addresses manually used for searching
 (ms_force_dedicated_server is depreciated)
 - Updated shared libraries and DLLs preventing dedicated servers listing
correctly, appearing on Steam groups, and being found via sv_search_key

Re: [hlds_linux] Left 4 Dead Update Available

2009-09-30 Thread Ronny Schedel

My L4D server is fully updated with verify_all and it still complains to
restart at map change.

A new, highly recommended Left 4 Dead update is now available. Please run
hldsupdatetool to receive the update. The specific changes include:

 - Made the variable mp_gamemode available again. Note that you can also
load maps directly with different game modes by specifying it in the map
command. For example, map l4d_garage01_alleys versus will set
mp_gamemode versus for you automatically and load the first map of Crash
 Course
 - Added mm_dedicated_force_servers to allow specification of a list of
dedicated server addresses manually used for searching
 (ms_force_dedicated_server is depreciated)
 - Updated shared libraries and DLLs preventing dedicated servers listing
correctly, appearing on Steam groups, and being found via sv_search_key

Also, can someone please confirm/deny that sv_search and

And is anyone noticing that a server started behind a NAT firewall (on

With regards to commenting out sv_region it only appears to correct groups and
not lobby.

 Hi all,

As much as I'm enjoying having all my servers full, I suggest valve should
fix the reason sv_region takes servers out of groups and lobbies.
Server admins I suggest commenting out 'sv_region' until it's fixed.

I'm having a terrible time getting my server to update. I found that in
the Windows Steam client you can set a region under the download
settings, and once I set it to Japan it updated straight away at over
1MB/s. Is there a way to do something similar on the Linux Steam client?

Re: [hlds_linux] Left 4 Dead Update Available

2009-09-29 Thread Jonah Hirsch
I figured out my issue with my forks.
I used to have my ports set in the command line as this:
-port 27001##
which would give me
27001, 27002, 27003, etc.

After this update, I had to change it to -port 270##
That seems to fix that issue (Although not all the servers are coming up,
but the ports might have changed to something I need to discover)

You can also use 27001+## for the same thing. Doesn't make a difference
in your case, but if your ports are not starting at a number which ends
in 01 then the +## syntax is handy.

At one point I got an error about an expired user ticket, so I deleted
~/.steam/ClientRegistry.blob and started the update again, and after
that it went a lot faster. My guess is that I got new content server

update, deleting your ClientRegistry.blob, and trying again it will improve.

I've noticed that swiping any player (infected or survivor, human or bot),

Just wanna mention this is with sourcemod.

I cant test it without sourcemod because
1) mp_gamemode is a hidden cvar now
2) I can't connect to my servers from a lobby, and testing on a listen

[hlds_linux] Left 4 Dead Update Available

2009-09-29 Thread Jason Ruymen
A new, highly recommended Left 4 Dead update is now available. Please run
hldsupdatetool to receive the update. The specific changes include:

- Made the variable mp_gamemode available again. Note that you can also load
maps directly with different game modes by specifying it in the map command.
For example, map l4d_garage01_alleys versus will set mp_gamemode versus for
you automatically and load the first map of Crash Course
- Added mm_dedicated_force_servers to allow specification of a list of
dedicated server addresses manually used for searching
(ms_force_dedicated_server is depreciated)
- Updated shared libraries and DLLs preventing dedicated servers listing
correctly, appearing on Steam groups, and being found via sv_search_key

Re: [hlds_linux] Left 4 Dead Update Available

2009-06-25 Thread Jonah Hirsch
The VPK files need to be downloaded out of game. When you join a lobby that
is for an add-on, it prompts you with a link that the mapmaker provided when
packaging the vpk.

It's too bad you can't download it from the server, but it makes sense
because you wouldn't be there for the start of the game.
Also, it's really frustrating for mapmakers to have to provide a URL before
it's packaged, since you don't always know what the URL will be. i.e. when
you use a host like filefront.

2009-03-26 Thread Eric Riemers

Thats why you need good teamwork.. :)

Going melee in a corner is a no-no now, which is good.. i stopped playing
because if survivors are any good, they always get to the end..
Waiting for the l4d update with vs with the 2 other maps.. should be
somewhere next month..

 - Renamed the tags for sv_search_key to use key: in the server tags

This bug has been in the game since release? It doesn't happen all
the time but when I see it happen, it's usually because of a hunter
pouncing the survivors as the lift is going up, some survivors are
pushed away on the side of the ladder and get stuck in it.

Yeah, that could be what happened. Weird that none of us had seen it
before, but I'll take your word for it that it's not new.

2009-03-12 Thread Coldorak
Same here: 8 L4D servers, no one respond any more to A2S_INFO queries. I
don't have sv_password on my server.cfg / serverXX.cfg
The servers show up in HLSW, but HLSW doesn't report they're running
metamod/sourcemod.
And my PHP scripts querying the servers from my website homepage does not
show the L4D server any more.

Yes, I can confirm that. I can see my L4D servers using HLSW 1.3.1. A bit
scary is that protocol is reported as 242. Yesterday it was 38. :-) Bu I
think it’s only because console doesn’t report the game protocol at all. And
yes, metamod isn’t detected anymore.

It's something with your PHP script. My scripts can query updated servers
without any problems.
