Re: [Hybrid-graphics-linux] Optimus Solution found!!!! - More Performance

2011-05-04 Thread André Ventura
Hmm, but on Minecraft game the fps are now lower, from about 120 to 60 (
despite having only about 15 fps on intel ;)), and there's some lag (like
there's a delay updating the image position when we move the pointer/mouse).

 Nice! :)

 glxgears:

 intel: 60 FPS
 nvidia: 743 FPS
 with this: 1795 FPS

 Thanks!

 Hi all..

 I have just found a way to get some more performance from our nvidia card:

 My guide can still be found at: http://www.martin-juhl.dk or

 This more performance-hack is now added to the guide...

 If you are already up running then just make the following changes:

 Add to your ~/.bashrc:

 VGL_COMPRESS=jpeg
 export VGL_COMPRESS

 Now you need to make sure that your Desktop Enviroment runs the following
 command after starting up..

 vglclient localhost

 In KDE this is archived by creating:
 ~/.kde/share/autostart/vglclient.desktop (you might need to create the
 autostart folder as well):

 [Desktop Entry]
 Comment[da]=
 Comment=
 Exec=vglclient localhost
 GenericName=
 Icon=exec
 MimeType=
 Name=vglclient
 Path=
 StartupNotify=true
 Terminal=false
 TerminalOptions=
 Type=Application
 X-DBUS-ServiceName=
 X-DBUS-StartupType=
 X-KDE-SubstituteUID=false
 X-KDE-Username=
 X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=desktop_kdebase

 But this happens only with the latest ATI that I just downloaded.

 Every application is normal but firefox-trunk. I have two firefox
 installations.

 So if I run this
 MOZ_GLX_IGNORE_BLACKLIST=1 firefox-trunk
 will make the client area mirrored, while
 firefox-trunk
 runs normal

 On the other hand
 MOZ_GLX_IGNORE_BLACKLIST=1 firefox
 is normal, and
 firefox
 is again normal

Hmmm weird...

It has surely given me an improvement in Starcraft II, which is now running
fluent...

Seems like some more testing is in order...

Re: [Hybrid-graphics-linux] Optimus Solution found!!!! - More Performance

2011-05-04 Thread Ted
Hi the List,

just few words,
first, a big thanks to Martin for this great step in Optimus support.
second, I obviously suceed with this trick to launch glxgears with my
Nvidia GT325M on my Asus N61Jv (X64Jv) to 1543.804 FPS.
I tested it on Ubuntu 11.04 on classic desktop manager, don't know if it
is gnome or unity with disable parts. I have also loose transparency
with the Intel card wich seems normal for now.

For the record :
Intel card : PCI:0:2:0
Nvidia card: PCI:1:0:0

and I had to add the
 Option ConnectedMonitor CRT-0
line.

Option UseDisplayDevice none didn't solve the nvidia driver
connection to the display device error.

Hope this will help,

Ted
