[IMGate] Re: SmarterMail

2005-02-19 Thread roger weiss
Hi Len,

I am using SmaterMail with IMGate and find SM to be a lot better mail
server than IMail.
The user interface is a lot cleaner and my customers are a lot happier.

I assume you want more infomation about SM than IMGate, as IMGate will
work with just about any mail server.

We have ~1000 domains on a dual proc xeon with 2 GB ram. We did have 1
GB, and it ran fine, but we need to run another application on this
server as well, so we decided to up it to 2 GB. It is handling
~250,000 emails a day and uses about 15% of the total CPU cycles with
occasional peaks to 30%.

I really like the fact that SM uses IIS and they provide skins which
you can customize.

All of the settings are stored in XML and there is a utility available
which will export the user list to a text file for use with your
IMGate. ( http://www.plateaultd.com/tools/smartermail/ )

Declude has a version that works with SM (there is a discount on
declude going on right now, you put your SM serial # into the order
form for declude).

There is a cmd script available for use with F-Prot and SM, for
anti-virus checking. We use it and have run into no problems and the
price is right, it's free. The script is available here:
http://www.plateaultd.com/tools/smartermail#F-PROT

You can also get a discounted copy of SmarterMail here:
http://www.plateaultd.com/xcart/catalog/Mail_Servers-p-1-c-254.html

No I don't work for declude or SmarterTools. :-)

Yes. No changes to IMGate are required for use with SmarterMail. The
transition was painless and SmarterMail is working well with IMGate.

Is anyone on this list using SmarterMail with their IMGate setup? Any
 comments or comparisons with Imail?
 Thanks.

Hmmm, Roger your reply domain is qmail.com. So allow me to ask this
question. Any response from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I am
forced to work with Qmail (using PLESK) for about a year now. I have
been spoiled by the ease of reading Postifix logs (not to mention the
simplicity of blocking SPAM). I know about Qmailanalog, but still have
difficutly reading Qmail logs, specfically, IP address of sending SMTP
server, reason for bounce etc, message ID (since INODES # are resused
the # is useless), etc.

I have searched in vaid for more info

TIA.
