[IslamCity] Dialog : CAIR Addresses Objection of Predominantly Black Community To the Building of a New Islamic Center in Florida

2006-07-09 Thread Curtis Sharif

Bismillah, FYIASA, It has been my experience that CAIR does a good job of addressing discriminatory incidents involving non-muslims against Muslims. However, they are extremely reluctant to address ALL discrimanatory behavior towards Muslims as I believe they should, especially when it involves Muslim against Muslim situations, or situations that invole internal issues that are adversely affect the Muslim community.Peace, Curtis Sharif Houston, Texas"Jamaaluddin \"Coach J\" al-Haidar" [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Bismillaah, wal Hamdulillaah, was Salaatus Salaam ala Rasulillaah, wa ba'dAs-Salaamualaikum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuhu While as both an African-American aswell as a Muslim, I find the remarksfrom Commissioner PatLarkins very disturbing and insensitive, I find the Islamic community
leadership's response to the criticism (at least what was printed)as equally inept and insensitive. I wonder what would be the response from our local Houston leadershipif the same criticism was levied against our Islamic community? Al-Hamdulillah, as a community, we haveraised hundreds of thousands of dollars, and logged countless hours of hard work and sweat laborin recent relief effortsin whichmembers of the African-American community werearguably the great majority of thebeneficiaries. Unfortunately, you know like I know, that the peoples memories are short-lived when it comes
to charity. They take and receive during their time of desparation and soon forgetthose who were there for them in their time of need. The question that begs to be asked is... does CAIR or the local Islamic leadership in the major metropolitan centers across this great nationfeel that they have a responsibility to speak the truth and address the core issuesirrespective of whose toes are being stepped on? Why not address the issue of Muslimsbeing perceived as blood-suckers of the poor anddisenfranchised? Why notconfront the perception of duality in how Muslims deal with their
fellow man and how they deal with thecommandments of Allaah and thewarnings from his Messenger (saaws) regarding selling khamr andswine, and lowering the gaze.? It is not enough to simply brushimpressions off by labeling them as stereotypes as if these perceptionswill simply go away by themselves. This stance is arrogant and condescending. It serves no good end. It doesn't take advantage of the opportunity to educate the critic or the public in general about Islaam and what our Deen is about. What is so wrong with having the guts to declare in frontof the people that those who are sellingbeer, wine, and liquor...selling pork...selling lottery tickets...and pornographic magazines in their businesses are in many cases Chaldean or other Arabs who are Christian, and that in those cases where Muslims are in fact the guilty ones, these areweak Muslimswho are in clear disobedience to Allaah? Is it the fact that alot of this
ill-gotten wealth finds its way to the bank accounts of certain "Islamic" organizations? I once heard two students of mine in an Islamic school lunchroom trading stories and laughing about the antics of drunken blacks who would come into both of their father's stores to buy their khamr of choice. I told them that it would be better to invite them for a cup of tea and totalk to them about Islaam. Iadvised them to, in the meantime, not broadcast their father's activity, for it is wrong to broadcast a person's sin.I told them that they should pray and ask Allah to strengthen their father's imaan and show
him a way to provide for the family within the limits of Islaam. . I also shared a story of how, as a younger man, I was forcedout of a Tableeghi Jamaatbecause Iinsisted thatgoing with me to speak to the Musllims who were selling pork, wine, liquor, and bad meat and producein my neighborhood was more important asking brothers for names and addresses of brothers who don't attend the masjid regularly.. I wanted help in cleaning up my community but my fellow Muslim brothers were active partners in the filthy tradewhile others wherecompliant in their silenceand inaction. In
a post 9-11 world when all of these slick spin-doctorsin the media have a microscope on us it is betterto speak the truth direct without mincing words andtrying to sell half-truths.The enemy onlytakes this stuff (in and out of context) to make us look guilty or as if we have something to hide.I pray that our leaders here in the Houston Islamic community willcontinue to be a testamentto Allah's command to standup for justice and that they not make excuses or reasons fornot always speaking words directed to the right.Al-Hamdulillah, according to the drawings the Islamic center complex willl be a beautiful center. I hope that the
local Islamic community in South Florida would seize the opportunity to do something great in the community. They could start by insisting that in the construction of the center people from the local community be hired as

[IslamCity] Bag of NAILS

2006-07-09 Thread Jav6Hay

Bag of Nails==There was a little boy with a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, to hammer a nail in the back fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Then it gradually dwindled down.He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally, the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave
a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there.A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one.="If you want happiness for a lifetime, help someone else" =

[IslamCity] The Siege of Gaza: Jumuah Lecture

2006-07-09 Thread Abdul Wahid Osman Belal

From: Jamiatul Ulama E-Mail Service Date: 07/07/06 18:56:53 Subject: [Jamiatul Ulama] The Siege of Gaza: Jumuah Lecture The Siege of Gaza: Jumuah Lecture “Verily, as for those who persecute believing men and believing women and thereafter do not repent, hell’s
suffering awaits them: they will have the chastisement of the burning fire… truly strong is the grip of your Lord” (85:10/12) All praise is due to Allah – the Lord of all the worlds – He gives power to whom He wills and He takes away power from whom He will – He honours whom He will and He disgraces whom He wills- in His hand is all good. May His choicest salutations descend upon our Master and Leader who came as a mercy unto mankind. Respected brothers and elders in Islam In the first 3 weeks of June, Israel began pounding the Gaza with heavy artillery shelling. During this period 24 Palestinian civilians were killed another
77 wounded. Of those killed 7 were members of the Ghalia family, both adults and children, who were carrying out the dangerous terrorist act of picnicking on Gaza beach. Two days later, Israel killed another three children during its shelling attacks. In an attempt to bring pressure on Israel to stop the attacks on civilians Palestinian mujahideen carried out a raid on one of the main bases from which the artillery shelling was taking place. The raid resulted in two Israeli soldiers being killed and a third corporal being captured and taken prisoner. Israel has now used the capture of the soldier as a pretext to intensify its attacks on Gaza with a view to bring down the Hamas lead PA. On June 27, Israeli began its
invasion of Gaza, bombing bridges, bombing Gaza’s only power station, water plants and unleashing sonic bombs as a form of collective punishment against the civilian population of Gaza in clear defiance of the Geneva Convention which prohibits ‘collective punishment’ Gaza, which is one of the most densely populated areas on the planet, is now suffering a large scale humanitarian crisis.Israeli war planes repeatedly bombed and utterly demolished Gaza's only power plant. About 700,000 of Gaza's 1.3 million people now have no electricity, and word is that power cannot be restored for six months. In the excuse of rescuing one kidnapped soldier, Israel has kidnapped a third of the
Palestinian parliament. Gaza is plunged into darkness, food is rotting because refrigerators do not work, and likewise hospitals and clinics can do very little without electricity. Gaza's public water supply is pumped by electricity. The taps are dry! In short, over a million civilians are now trapped in their homes listening to Israeli shells, while facing the awful prospect, within days or weeks, of having to give toxic water to their children that may consign them to quick but agonizing deaths. The plunder and pillage of the Zionist regime is similar to the proud and oppressive tribe of Aaad. “…and they (Aad) said: “Who is superior to us in power – Do they not see that Allah who created them- He is greater than them in power…” (41: 15) They were ultimately
destroyed by furiously raging storm winds which continued for “seven nights and eight days” in the end they lay as though they were uprooted trunks of hollow palm trees. History is undoubtedly bound to repeat itself! The astonishing scale of this humanitarian situation is indeed matched only by the deafening drizzle of international reaction. We only hear muted mumbles and hypocritical calls for restraint. It is ironic that the world refuses to accept that the Palestinian predawn attack on the Israeli military base was a clear act of retaliation in which the corporal was captured in combat. The fact that Israelis plunder, loot, and invade with absolute impunity and total disregard for international law is simply inexplicable. Edward Said aptly unveils this duplicity in the following words: “It is simply extraordinary and without precedent that Israel’s history, its record – from the fact it …is a state built on conquest, that it has invaded surrounding countries, bombed and destroyed at will, to the fact that it currently occupies Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian territory against international law- is simply never cited, never subjected to scrutiny in the U.S. media or in official discourse … never addressed as playing any role at all in provoking Islamic terror” The persecution of believers is a phenomenon not restricted to this age or time; it is
ever recurring in varying degrees of intensity throughout recorded history! “Do men think that they will be spared by merely saying “We believe” and that they will not be tested” (29:2) The respite the kufaar enjoy is but the completion of Allah’s argument against them! Allah’s grip is strong, His power irresistible, His wisdom unquestionable. The grand plan of Allah will certainly come to pass even though the tyrants detest it. “Verily, as for those who persecute believing men and believing women

2006-07-09 Thread G.Waleed Kavalec
Salaam all

PLEASE spread this information to everyone you can.
It is not new news but it is not news the mainstream media is reporting
(we don't wonder why).

John Mearsheimer, at the University of Chicago, and Stephen Walt, at
Harvard, published their latest research on a Harvard Web site and in
abbreviated form in the London Review of Books last month. The paper, titled
The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy, is an extensive work, and the
uproar it ignited hasn't stopped.

The key points of the paper can be summarized thus: U.S. support for Israel
has been unwavering, but it is sometimes inconsistent with American
interests.

The professors ask: Why has the United States been willing to set aside its
own security to advance the interests of another state? Their answer is what
they call the unmatched power of the Israel lobby.

The authors state the lobby includes Americans in the Clinton
administration, more in the Bush administration, along with Christian
evangelicals, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, even editors at
prominent American newspapers.

The paper has set off a bitter and growing controversy, with name-calling
and worse. Mearsheimer and Walt said they expected criticism, but are
surprised the attacks have become so personal. Both men now say they do not
want to comment on the air on their research but will debate it in print.

Michael Scheuer says that Mearsheimer and Walt are basically right. A former
senior official at the Central Intelligence Agency, Scheuer is now a
terrorism analyst for CBS News. On an antiwar Web site, Scheuer wrote that
every government tries to influence public opinion. Mearsheimer and Walt,
Scheuer says, have described one of the most successful campaigns in the
United States.

They should be credited for the courage they have had to actually present a
paper on the subject, Scheuer says.

Paul Findley, a former Republican congressman from Illinois, says the debate
is long overdue.

You can't imagine how pleased I was, Findley says. I think I can pose as
a foremost expert on the lobby for Israel, because I was the target the last
three years I was in Congress.

Findley is a fierce critic of Israel's policy toward the Palestinians.
Findley's lobby group, the Council for the National Interest, published a
full-page ad in The New York Times calling for the Israel lobby to be
brought under control.

[IslamCity] Israels Palestinian Prisoners: The Forgotten Facts

2006-07-09 Thread S A Hannan

Subject: [Dahuk]: Israel’s Palestinian Prisoners: The Forgotten
Facts

Israel’s Palestinian Prisoners: The
Forgotten Facts

  By
  Isabelle Humphries
  Researcher – Nazareth

Children as young as 12 are
  detained and put on trial.
With
approximately 20% of the Palestinian population having been in Israeli
detention at one or more times, you would be hard pressed to find an
unaffected Palestinian family. While Westerners decry the continuing
detention of one Israeli soldier in Gaza, they conveniently overlook the
fact that many thousands of Palestinians have been held captive by
Israel for decades. Many are held without trial in what is known as
“administrative detention” and are not even given access to the Israeli
justice system, let alone held under conditions which would satisfy
international law.
Over 8000 Prisoners
When
even Israeli human rights organizations complain of difficulties in
obtaining statistics from Israeli official sources as to the exact
numbers of Palestinians held, it is hard for foreign journalists to
track down updated statistics. According to Israeli NGO Btselem, in January of 2006 over 8200
Palestinians were held in Israeli custody. This figure could be broken
down further as follows: 3,111 held by the army (of whom
741 were in administrative detention), and 5,127 in
Israeli prisons (53 in administrative detention). Others quote
the figures as higher, and it should also include those Palestinian
political prisoners who hold Israeli passports. Israeli citizenship does
not provide freedom of political speech for many Palestinian
citizens.
According to the Palestinian
Prisoner’s Society in March 2005 (cited by Samar Assad, Palestine
Center, USA), 19 prisoners were serving sentences of 20 years, and 140
serving 15 years or more. A report from the PNA Ministry of Detainees
and Ex-Prisoner’s Affairs notes that 400 of these prisoners were
sentenced before the Oslo Accords; the agreement supposedly secured
their release.
Administrative
Detention

  Women are forced to strip
naked in front of guards, many of whom are male, and are subjected
  to brutal body searches.
What
exactly is administrative detention? Imprisonment without trial – or
continued imprisonment after serving a sentence. Israeli Military Order
No. 1229 (1988) empowers the military to detain Palestinians in the
Occupied Territories for up to six months without trial, and this can be
frequently renewed. Judges make decisions regarding detention orders
based on material that is reviewed in secret and not shown to detainee
or lawyer (a policy which is becoming disturbingly acceptable in a post
9/11 Western world).
Administrative detention is nothing
new for Palestinians – it has been used by the Israelis since the
establishment of the state, first within the territories occupied in
1948 for the few Palestinians able to remain as Israeli citizens, and
then from 1967 to keep an iron rule over the West Bank and Gaza. As a
British writer I am obliged to note that Emergency Regulations, which
empower Israeli forces to make such arrests, originate in Mandate laws
designed to keep both Arabs and Jews from overthrowing the British
colonial occupation. Under the British regime, Jewish Zionists in
Palestine complained bitterly about the violation of their basic rights
by the occupiers. However, as soon as they seized power, they decided to
make use of such “emergency” or “security” regulations, but only for
Arabs.
Children

  Over 3000 children have been
  to Israeli jails since September
2000.
Defence of Children International (DCI) gives the most recent
statistic: As of last month (June 2006) there were 388 Palestinian
children in Israeli detention. Many hundreds more prisoners are now
adults, but were originally detained as children. The PNA Ministry says
that over 3000 children have been through Israeli jails since September

[IslamCity] IMPORTANCE OF PERFORMING SUNNAT E MUKKADAH BEFORE FARZ SALAAT

2006-07-09 Thread Saba Khan
Question
inform about all the non-obligatory prayers (I mean
prayers after obligatory prayers) and other prayers
like midnight prayer and midmorning prayer(zuha) and
so on… and please tell me some hadhees saying so…. I
do believe and I don’t know the amount of prayers and
so on… please clarify me … why I need hadhees is :
just as a reference and to tell others about it

Answer 18061 2006-07-05

There are two types of Sunnahs.

Sunnat-e-Muakkadah (emphasized Sunnats), for example,
the two Rakaats before Fajr Salaat, four Rakaats
before Dhuhr Salaat, two Rakaats and after Dhuhr and
after Maghrib Salaat. It is a sin not to perform these
Sunnats.

Sunnat-e-Ghayr Muakkadah (not emphasized), for
example, the four Rakaats before Esha Salaat. If one
does not perform these Salaats, he will not be sinful.
Nafl means extra or voluntary. It refers to every
Salaat which is not necessary to perform but
meritorious, for example, Tahajjud Salaat.

Sunnat-e-Muakkadah Salaat is an emphasised Sunnat
which Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam)
performed punctually without leaving it out. The
Fuqahaa have stated that a person will be sinful for
not performing his Sunnat-e-Muakkadah Salaats (Shaami
vol.1 pg.498; Kuwait).

Hadhrat Umm Habiba (Radhiyallaahu Anha) narrates that
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said,
'Whosoever performs twelve Rakaats of Salaat during
the day and night, an abode in Jannah will be prepared
for him; four Rakaats before Dhuhr, two Rakaats after
Dhuhr, two Rakaats after Maghrib, two Rakaats after
Esha and two Rakaats before Fajr Salaat (Mishkat vol.1
pg.103; Kuwait).

Besides the above Hadith explaining the general virtue
of performing the twelve Rakaats of Sunnat-e-Muakkadah
Salaat, there are other Ahaadith explaining the
virtues of some specific Sunnat-e-Muakkadah Salaats.

Hadhrat Abu Ayyoub Ansari (Radhiyallaahu Anhu)
narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam)
said, 'Four Rakaats before Dhuhr with only one Salaam
(i.e. with Salaam only after the fourth rakaat, not
after two Rakaats also) is a means of opening the
doors (of mercy) of the sky (Mishkat pg.104; Kuwait).

Hadhrat Umme Habiba (Radhiyallaahu Anha) narrates that
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said,
'Whosoever is punctual in performing the four Rakaats
Salaat before Dhuhr, Allah will make the fire of Hell
Haraam upon him.' (Ibid)

Hadhrat Huzayfah (Radhiyallaahu Anhu) narrates that
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, 'Hasten
with performing two Rakaats after Maghrib for they are
lifted up with the Fardh Salaat.' (Mishkat pg.105;
Kuwait)

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said,
'Whosoever leaves out the four Rakaat Sunnats before
Dhuhr, will not get my intercession on the day of
Qiyaamat.' (Shaami vol.1 pg.494; Kuwait)

It should be noted that on Friday, after the Jummu'ah
Salaat for males, it is also Sunnat-e-Muakkadah to
perform 4 Rakaats with one Salaam (only after four
Rakaats, not after two Rakaats also). (Shaami vol.1
pg.497; Kuwait)

Apart from the Sunnat-e-Muakkadah Salaats,
occasionally Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam)
performed voluntary Nafil Salaats before Asr and Esha,
and mentioned great virtues for those Salaats as well.

Hadhrat Abu Hurayra (Radhiyallaahu Anhu) narrates that
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said,
'Whosoever among you performs Salaat after Jummu'ah
should perform four Rakaats.' (Mishkat pg.104; Kuwait)

Ibn Umar (Radhiyallaahu Anhuma) narrates that
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, 'May
Allah have mercy upon that person who performs four
Rakaats before Asr Salaat.' (Ibid)

The most emphasised Sunnat-e-Muakkadah Salaats is the
two Rakaats before the Fardh of Fajr Salaat.

Hadhrat Aaisha (Radhiyallaahu Anha) narrates that
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) used to be
extremely steadfast on the two Sunnat Rakaats of Fajr
Salaat. (Mishkat pg.104; Kuwait)

Hadhrat Aaisha (Radhiyallaahu Anha) narrates that
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, 'The
two Rakaats of Fajr Salaat are better than the entire
world and its contents.' (Ibid)

It is mentioned in Sharhul Inaaya that if one reaches
the Masjid and the congregational Fajr Salaat has
already commenced and the person has not yet performed
the two Sunnats of Fajr, then if he expects that he
can perform the Sunnats of Fajr and join the Imaam (at
least) in the last Qaaida (sitting), he should perform
the two Rakaats of Sunnat (and then join the Imaam).'
(Fathul Qadeer vol.1 pg.414; Maktaba Rashidiyya).
However, the Sunnats should not be performed in the
Masjid proper.

It is reported in Bayhaqi from Hadhrat Abu Hurayra
(Radhiyallaahu Anhu) that the Prophet (Sallallaahu
Alayhi Wasallam) said, 'When the Fardh Salaat begins
then no other prayer should be performed besides the
Fardh Salaat, except the two Sunnats of Fajr (they can
be performed when the Fardh Salaat is being
performed).' (Bazlul Majhood vol.2 pg.261)

Dear all, Assalamo Alaekum
Being a doctor, I fully endorsed what my sis
mentioned. The oral route of transmission for this
virus is v v weak and in such case as this one, its
not possible to have AIDS. Hope this clarifies.

Dear All,

I was interested to read the article on the young boy
who contracted AIDS from the pani puri street vendor. I would be very interested
to know the origin and source of this article. Having worked on the issue of
HIV and Aids for 3 years, i would just like to share with you some facts:

1. person to person contact can result in
the transferrance of the HIV virus but not AIDS which is the resulting illness
from the afore mentioned virus and usually takes a number of months if not
years to develop.

2. Outside the body the virus can only
survive a maximum of 7-10 seconds

3. In order for the virus to leave one
body and enter another it must be transported through either blood or sexual
body fluids. It must also have a direct route into another bodys bloodstream.
In the afore mentioned case, in consuming pani puri handled by someone with a
bleeding finger the blood is already diluted, and the virus will not survive
outside the body for longer than a few seconds. When consumed the blood in the
pani puri is then subject to rigorous tumult in the bodys absorption
systembeing broken down by acid and enzymes in the body. It is unlikely therfore
that transmission could occur in this way.

4. A test which would be for Hiv the virus
would take 3 months to acurately determine the presence of the virus in the
body and not 10 days as the article suggests. This is becos the virus can lay
dormant for up to 3 months before it becomes visible in the body. Also in the
early stages of the virus entering the body it can be countered by the bodies
own immune system till the virus has mutated into a form the body can no longer
defend.

In the south east continent the lack of screening of
blood products and direct blood transfusions are stilla big cause of the spread
of the hiv virus along with sexual transmission and sharing of needles by drug
users.

My apologies for the length of this mail, but surely
as muslims we have a responsibility to pass on accurate information. Who
moderated and checks the info that this group shares? if it our own individual
responsibility tht could i request everyone posting articles also post the
source of the article and its author.

EXTREMISTS, RADICALS FANATICS

Mike Ghouse | 07- 05- 06

In any write-up on radicals, you can simply substitute a few names or leave
them blank to be filled in by each group. Radicals of all hues will fit right
in.

The Christian right in the US is exactly the same as the Indian right. Every
now and then, I have discussions with some of them boys. They are indeed
shunned by the silent majority as they do not represent the Christian Values.

I ran into a National corporate trainer a while ago, who consults and
coaches companies on multi culturism, ethnicity etc. He didn't mince any words
to
tell me that the Hindus Jews and Muslims cannot be on par with the believers,
as they don't believe in Jesus. Yet he claims he teaches equality of mankind.
This prejudiced man probably sells it to the gullible out there.

The Extremist Muslims want to annihilate every one who disagrees with them.
(Read the Indian Version of Niemller's poem
at:http://mikeghouse.sulekha.com/blogs/blogdisplay.aspx?cid=58637). The silent
majority of Muslims is waking
up now at the same pace as all others. We cannot take them extremists any more.

The extremist Jews in their zeal to have a homeland, have bulldozed their
silent majority. Zionist is the word used by non-Jewish to describe them -
However, to Jews it means going back to Zion, their homeland, hence the word
Zionist is not the same as extremist Jews.

The radical Hindus have no doubt terrorized all other Hindus with false
propaganda to no end. The silent majority of Hindus are as chicken as Muslims,
and thank God they are awake.

By the way, the radicals in all religions behave the same way, shamelessly
they are a part of the religion they claim to belong, and are they are the
most vociferous of them all. Their formula is exactly the same.

The real fight is not between the common people, it is between fanatics of
one religion with the other. It is a crime that this one percent rules at this
time.

The 1% of radicals offer an unshakeable fake confidence to the 99% shook-up
followers, that makes the ordinary fellows want to be with them for elusory
protection. They concoct the fear and dream up guileful camouflage. They
frighten the existence out of everyone. But all the radicals would take the
world
to destruction, if we don't struggle with them and ebb their influence.

Muslim radicals like Osama, Ahmedinejad and several others frighten the
Muslim crowds and gain their support.

Jewish radicals like Emerson, Pipes and several others frighten the Jewish
crowds and gain their support

Christian extremists like Roberston, Falwell, Ashcroft and others frighten
the Americans and gain their support.

Then you have the Hindu radicals like Venkkaiah, Joshi, Modi and several
others who frighten the Hindu crowds and gain their support.

These radicals have to keep the fear as a constant factor for their own
entertainment. If there is no war and no fear, their existence is meaningless.
They have no qualms in manufacturing fear. God forbid we don't need another
911
and that legitimate fear breeds uncertainty and the radicals offer an
unshakeable but foundationless certainty to have the silent majority look up
to
them. In reality they are the pied pipers.

WHAT IS COMMON BETWEEN ALL THE RADICALS?

INSECURITY

They are the most insecure individuals about themselves and their faiths.
They feel some imaginable enemy is out to get them, and they have to destroy
them at the root. Some become experts and as I watch the experts talk, I hear
the phrase dime a dozen, make them more.

LANGUAGE

One writing fits them all. Write one story about Muslim radicals, take the
name of Muslims off and substitute with either Christian, Jewish or Hindu, the
story is same.

ONE WAY COMMUNICATION

Radicals never read any thing intelligent, they are too eager to send their
limited 50 words any time. Try sending them a blank email, they will respond
even to that with the same 50 words in a different combination.

LOW COMPREHENSION

Many of the radicals (including radicals from your faith) have Doctorates
and are very literate, but still do not have the ability to comprehend the
difference between: Islamists and Islam; Hindutva and Hinduism ; Fanatic Jews
(Zionist is not the word) and Judaism, Neo cons and Christianity. If you
criticize about any one of these radicals, they will lift up the shield of
their
religion to gain support from the gullible. They need to know that they cannot
use the religion as their shield. They are responsible for their ugly deeds
and not their religion. Let them learn to own it up.

Religion is never a problem, it is the individuals like the ones mentioned
above who have created the chasm and the fear. As long as one exists, the
others exist too.

Religion is never a problem, it is the individuals like the ones mentioned
above who have created

[IslamCity] Sid Ryan, Globe Mail Slurs will not silence us.

2006-07-09 Thread Susan Howard-Azzeh

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/Page/document/v4/sub/MarketingPage?user_URL=http://www.theglobeandmail.com%force_login=true Slurs will not silence usSID RYAN When our union recently passed a resolution critical of policies of the government of Israel, it was savagely attacked in several quarters and labelled by many as anti-Semitic. When the Toronto Conference of the United Church of Canada, the largest Protestant church in the country, called for a limited boycott and divestment strategy
toward Israel, it, too, faced a barrage of baseless allegations of anti-Semitism (though little was said about the two Jewish organizations, the Alliance of Concerned Jewish Canadians and Jewish Women to End the Occupation, who joined in the church group's action). Canadian media, with few exceptions, refuse to report on the plight of innocent Palestinians not involved in terrorist activities. They insist on focusing on the minority of Palestinians who inflict despicable violence on innocent civilians. Media refuse to address Israel's violation of international law, the Geneva Conventions, the rulings of the International Court in The Hague and a number of United Nations resolutions. This lack of reporting leaves the Canadian population with a one-sided view. Israel's recent bombing campaign and incursion in Gaza has destroyed schools and universities, demolished bridges and roads, and killed several Palestinians. The sonic-boom bombardments wreak
havoc on a civilian population, smashing windows and doors and terrorizing children. More damaging, there is no electricity for more than 700,000 people -- no lights, no refrigerators, and no fans in the suffocating heat. It means no clean water -- the public water supply uses electricity -- leading to disease, possibly cholera. It means limited services in hospitals and clinics dependant on electricity. Were this Northern Ireland, the wrath of the international community would be swift and harsh. Yet when we criticize this behaviour, we are labelled anti-Semites -- a convenient tactic used to shut down debate and silence us from any criticism of the state of Israel. Even Switzerland, renowned for its neutrality, criticized Israel this week. "There is no doubt that Israel has not taken the precautions required of it in international law to protect the civilian population and infrastructure," said a statement
issued by the Swiss Foreign Ministry. The strongest condemnation for the irresponsible Gaza campaign came Tuesday from the editorial page of one of Israel's most respected newspapers, Haaretz. In an astonishing moment of frankness and brevity, the news- paper called for the permanent withdrawal of the Israeli Defence Forces from the occupied territories. "The right always proposes the same recipe, but in ever-increasing doses: If we did not manage to deter them by using force, we need to use more force; and if that fails, then we need to use even more force. The establishment of the settlements was, and remains, a form of using force, as is construction of the fence along a route that harms Palestinian life more than necessary for security purposes," the editorial stated. "The attempt to topple an elected government by means of tanks and to remove members of an elected parliament by arresting them
also constitutes a policy of aggression." "At this time, it must be reiterated," the newspaper said, "and it would be appropriate for the Prime Minister to find the time and the strength of will to do so -- that Israel has no option in the long run other than withdrawing from the territories and from the occupation." There you have it in a nutshell, the essence of CUPE Ontario's resolution spoken from the pages of Israel's influential newspaper. I now expect to hear B'nai Brith, the Canadian Jewish Congress and Simon Wiesenthal Centre, together with all their cronies, scream and hurl accusations of anti-Semitism at the editorial board of Haaretz. Or is that treatment is reserved for CUPE and the United Church? Sid Ryan is president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (Ontario).
