Volume 1, Book 3, Number 56:

Narrated Abu Huraira: While the Prophet was saying something in a
gathering, a Bedouin came and asked him, When would the Hour (Doomsday)
take place? Allah's Apostle continued his talk, so some people said
that Allah's Apostle had heard the question, but did not like what that
Bedouin had asked. Some of them said that Alllah's Apostle had not heard
it. When the Prophet finished his speech, he said, Where is the
questioner, who enquired about the Hour (Doomsday)? The Bedouin said,
I am here, O Allah's Apostle . Then the Prophet said, When honesty is
lost, then wait for the Hour (Doomsday). The Bedouin said, How will
that be lost? The Prophet said, When the power or authority comes in
the hands of unfit persons, then wait for the Hour (Doomsday.)

Volume 1, Book 3, Number 57:

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: Once the Prophet remained behind us in a
journey. He joined us while we were performing ablution for the prayer
which was over-due. We were just passing wet hands over our feet (and
not washing them properly) so the Prophet addressed us in a loud voice
and said twice or thrice: Save your heels from the fire.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] 15th Shaban - Shab e Barat

2006-09-12 Thread S.A.R. Adil
Last night the 15th of Shaban (Shab e Barat), I went to the
Qabrastan to read Durood and Fatiha at the grave of some realatives.
The place was lit up with illumination and choc-a- block full of
people. The flower vendors outside were doing roaring business and
most of the people visiting the Qabrastan were also paying their
obeisance to an attached Dargah. It was well past midnight and the
roads were crammed with devotee revellers making mirth and merry.
The scene was reminiscent of New Year eve revelry, which I had the
experience to witness at my own peril a few times. I was amazed to
see the stark similarity and at the same time astounded to observe
how our youth were able to match the bravado and dare devilry of the
youth from the New Year's Eve. While the Youth celebrating the
arrival of New Year are high on intoxicants of all kinds, our own
young people were high on Imaan and Taqwa I suppose. The derring-do
in the form of rash driving, motor cycle stunts etc., that is
possible in a state of inebriation was being matched and even
surpassed by our Youth last night and mind you they were only high
on Imaan and Taqwa. I hope you have not missed the pun here.

I felt ashamed and really that much smaller. I felt my quest for
Truth over the last two years came to a knot when I allowed myself
to partake in the Islamic frenzy that has no sanction in our great
religion.

Bidah (Innovation) in our Deen is a tool of the devil and it is
important we understand this. It is Iblees (Devil) who causes the
desire in us to innovate and make Deen look more attractive and
enjoyable in the worldly sense. It is this temptation that we need
to withstand and even repel and certainly not lose sight of our
Islamic austerity, purity and simplicity because in the end it is
the purity of our faith that will determine our HEREAFTER. As my
friend,Philosopher and Islamic Scholar Mirza Yawar Baig never fails
to remind us: Islam grew by leaps and bounds only after the
conquest of Makkah, when the people there saw the Muslims from close
proximity. They saw how they conducted themselves and how pure and
simple was their Deen. The Makkans saw the socio-economic practices
of the Muslims were based on equity and fairness and above all they
saw in Islam a complete way of life.

I urge all of you to think and wonder why we have stopped
influencing the hearts and minds of people the World over. Why are
we not able to articulate our Deen and why have we become irrelevant
as a Muslim Nation? Why are we not able to benefit mankind despite
being the chosen people of Allah who have been created for the
benefit of mankind (3:110)?

I know it is hard to give up and discontinue some of our age old
practices that go back to our forefathers, but really there is no
disrespect to our forefathers or shame in imbibing wisdom when it
dawns upon us.

May Allah SWT give us all the wisdom to do what is pleasing to Him
and May we desist from all practices that incorporate any elements
of bidah or shirk (associating partners with Allah).

Jazak Allah Khairan

Sister JM you have no idea about the women status when they are very close
to men in the Kabaa vicinity I was there last week for five days and I prayed
almost every prayer there and it is better for women and men to be apart from
each other.

Some women do not wear good hijab and some they do not know a lot about
Islam. If women are kept during the five times prayer away from the vivacity
of Kabaa that will not reduce their ajar (reward) I do not understand what is
the big fuss about keeping the women away from the vicinity of Kabaa.

The women have been in the back from the prophet’s time till today, the
prophet SAAWS used to arrange lines during the five times prayers, first men
then, second line are kids, third line are women.

Why do women want be in front of men and this is what is happening now.
When women are praying in the vicinity of Kabaa they are in front of thousands
of men and that is against the Sunnah.

It is better for the women to pray at their home. The prophet SAAWS said
in the Hadith that do not refrain women from praying at masjied and their home
is better for them.

Muslim women may be kept away from Kaaba

9/8/2006 11:55:00 AM GMT

Saudi officials are considering a proposal banning Muslim women from
performing prayers in the immediate vicinity of Mecca’s Grand Mosque, which
houses the Kaaba; Islam's holiest shrine, according to azstarnet.com.

The proposal, released two weeks ago, has been met with fierce opposition from
some Islamic scholars and Muslim women in the Saudi Kingdom and abroad, who say
that it violates the spirit of Islam which grants equal rights to men and women.

But the religious authorities who proposed the plan say that it’s mainly aimed
at reducing overcrowding, which has led to deadly incidents during pilgrimages,
or Hajj, at Mecca in the past.

It’s unclear why the proposal was being studied now, but some officials say
they have growing concerns about overcrowding, especially at Mecca’s Grand
Mosque, home to the Kaaba, a large cubic stone structure that Muslims face
during their prayers.

Hajj, which takes place during the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah, is an
obligation for every physically and financially able Muslim. At least two
million Muslims go to Mecca every year from every corner of the globe to
perform the Hajj. They all stand equal before Allah, regardless of their gender.

The head of the King Fahd Institute for Hajj Research, which came up with the
plan, told The Associated Press that the new restrictions are already in place.

And some women have recently reported that they were asked to pray at new
locations away from the white-marbled area surrounding the Kaaba during the
Umrah, a small Hajj that can be performed at any time of the year.

However, Sheik Youssef Khzeim, deputy chief of a Saudi government organization
in charge of implementing the plan, denied the reports, saying that women are
still allowed to pray in the Kaaba's vicinity.

If any woman was asked to move to the back, he said, “it's only to maintain
order.

This is still a study, and nothing has been implemented, Sheikh Khzeim
insisted.

Opponents of the plan say that women’s Islamic obligations and duties are the
same as those of men. Muslim women aren’t exempt from any of the Islamic
practices because of their gender. However, under special circumstances, a
woman isn’t required to pray or fast, for example during her menstrual periods
and after child birth. But she should make up for the days she has missed
fasting.

Allah (SWT) grants men and women equal rights in every aspects of life. He also
asks all Muslims to perform their Islamic duties regardless of their gender.

For example, the Qur’an clearly states in Sura 33 Verse 35:”For Muslim men and
women- For believing men and women. For devoted men and women, for true men and
women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who
humble themselves, for men and women who give in charity, for men and women who
fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for
men and women who engage much in Allah praise- for them has Allah prepared
forgiveness and great reward.”

PAKISTAN: Women hit hardest in quake aftermath © Ramita Navai/IRINAfter 11 months, thousands of quake victims are still without hope, most are womenMUZAFFARABAD, 8 Sep 2006 (IRIN) - Traditional coping systems have been stretched to breaking point following last year’s massive earthquake in northern
Pakistan and women are bearing the brunt.Nearly 75,000 people died in the October quake that flattened towns and villages making some 5,500 women widows and particularly vulnerable.Gula Jan lost her husband seven years ago, but her position is typical of many of the widows at Chelha Bandi camp for quake survivors, who are relying on the waning support of extended family. "Since [my husband died] my brother has supported us, but he lost a lot in the earthquake and cannot support me anymore. He also has eight children of his own," Gulab said from the camp, in Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistani-administered Kashmir."I was a maid before but there are no jobs for me now. And even if I would find work again, it would not be enough for my family. Besides, I have no land either - the earthquake took it," she said.In the aftermath of the quake, vulnerable groups such as women, have been hardest hit according to the government. Northern
Pakistan is a largely rural area where women already struggle with gender discrimination, social exclusion, illiteracy, socio-economic difficulties and low incomes.According to tradition, women in this strongly conservative region traditionally stayed at home raising their children while men went out to work. Since the disaster their roles have changed drastically. Women are often the main breadwinners for the family where the male head of the household has either died or suffered from permanent physical disabilities. The government's Earthquake Relief and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) has established a social protection strategy to focus on vulnerable groups in the earthquake-hit districts of North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and Pakistani-administered Kashmir.According to the ERRA, customary practices often denied women their right to inheritance and limited their access to property, income and livelihood options. The government
has recommended providing technical assistance to vulnerable groups, including widows, but it would primarily only be available to property owners. For the poor majority who have no property, community-based care options are being considered, but no plan has yet been finalised. While the quake aftermath has highlighted women’s vulnerability, family and kinship structures have proved expedient in coping with another vulnerable group – orphaned children.Nearly 41,000 children became orphans as a result of the earthquake and nearly all have been spontaneously fostered by extended family members. While most cultures consider children who have lost both parents to be orphans, in Pakistan a child who has lost his or her father is considered an orphan too.Older women who provide for the protection of orphaned grandchildren must ensure their own safety as well as that of those in their care. Nuran Bibi is a grandmother to nine children
who lost their parents in the earthquake. "I don't know how it will work out. I cannot support all nine of them," Nuran said from her shelter.Naheed Bibi, 18, the oldest of Nuran's grandchildren, goes to an Islamic school and will become a teacher within a year. Now living in Chamra Camp, also in Muzaffarabad, her future is uncertain."I don't know what will happen to us,” said Bibi. “When I finish school I cannot support the eight others and my grandmother. My father was a shopkeeper and my mother a housewife. We struggled then [before the earthquake] but now it is hopeless.”sc/ss[ENDS]

The leaked communications between US private military companies suggest the CIA had
knowledge of the plans to run covert military operations inside Somalia - against UN rulings - and they hint at involvement of British security firms. The emails, dated June this year, reveal how US firms have been planning undercover missions in support of President Abdullahi Yusuf's transitional federal government - founded with UN backing in 2004 - against the Supreme Islamic Courts Council - a radical Muslim militia which took control of Mogadishu, the country's capital, also in June promising national unity under Sharia law.Evidence of foreign involvement in the conflict would not only breach the UN arms embargo
but could destabilise the entire region. One email dated Friday, 16 June, is from Michele Ballarin, chief executive of Select Armor - a US military firm based in Virginia. Ballarin's email was sent to a number of individuals including Chris Farina of the Florida-based military company ATS Worldwide.Ballarin said: 'Boys: Successful meeting with President Abdullay Yussef [sic] and his chief staff personnel in Nairobi, Kenya on Tuesday ... where he invited us to his private hotel suite flacked by security detail ... He has appointed is chief of presidential protocol as our go to during this phase.'She refers to one 'closed-door meeting' with a senior UN figure and mentions there are 'a number of Brit security firms' also looking to get involved.Ballarin claimed she has been given 'carte blanche' to use three bases in Somalia 'and the air access to reach them'.She then suggests that the CIA have been kept informed of the plans. Ballarin states: 'My contact whom we discussed from the agency side requested an in-person meeting with me. I arrived in New York at 2340 last night and was driven to Virginia - arriving at 0200 today.'According to the highly respected newsletter, Africa Confidential, which originally published extracts of the emails last week, Select Armor started its operation planning in Kampala, Uganda. The emails suggest that the Ugandan government were willing to help secure arms supplies for any operation although this is denied by security officials in Kampala. In one reply to Ballarin, Farina said: 'A forced entry operation [into Mogadishu] at this point without the addition of follow-on forces who can capitalise on the momentum/initiative of the initial op will result in a replay of Dien Bien Phu'. This is
a reference to the defeat of French colonial forces in Indochina in 1953.The website of Farina's company ATS boasts it 'can execute operations in support of host national indigenous forces'. ATS claims it uses former US and British special operations personnel. One email discussing funding of any operation sent from Farina to Ballarin states: 'We may have to re-focus our efforts in the US among the DOS [State Department] and DOD [Defence Department] to bring any forward movement to this effort.'The Observer left several messages with both Select and ATS
requesting interviews but nobody responded. Ballarin told Africa Confidential last week that the company's operations in Somalia were

By FRANK RICH Published: September 10, 2006 The destruction of post-9/11 unity, both in this nation and in the world, is as much a cause for mourning on the fifth anniversary as the attack itself. “THE most famous picture nobody’s ever seen”
is how the Associated Press photographer Richard Drew has referred to his photo of an unidentified World Trade Center victim hurtling to his death on 9/11. It appeared in some newspapers, including this one, on 9/12 but was soon shelved. “In the most photographed and videotaped day in the history of the world,” Tom Junod later wrote in Esquire, “the images of people jumping were the only images that became, by consensus, taboo.” Five years later, Mr. Drew’s “falling man” remains a horrific artifact of the day that was supposed to change everything and did not. But there’s another taboo 9/11 photo, about life rather than death, that is equally shocking in its way, so much so that Thomas Hoepker of Magnum Photos kept it under wraps for four years. Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Fw: Dr Bari's Telegraph Interview

2006-09-12 Thread S A Hannan
- Original Message -
From: R Ahmed [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: Dr Bari's Telegraph Interview

Media 'contributing to rise of Islamophobia'
By David Harrison
Sunday Telegraph 10/09/2006

Britain could face the threat of two million home-grown Islamic terrorists,
says a senior Muslim leader.

Muhammad Abdul Bari: 'We want to isolate the bad people and put them in the
dock. But we all have to work together to do that'
Muhammad Abdul Bari, the secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain,
fears that continued negative attitudes towards people of his faith could
provoke a vast and angry backlash.

There are a few bad apples in the Muslim community who are doing terrible
acts and we want to root them out, Dr Bari told The Sunday Telegraph.

But some police officers and sections of the media are demonising Muslims,
treating them as if they're all terrorists — and that encourages other
people to do the same.

If that demonisation continues, then Britain will have to deal with two
million Muslim terrorists — 700,000 of them in London, he said. If you
attack a whole community, it becomes despondent and aggressive.

Mr Bari was speaking at the East London Mosque, where he is chairman, after
a month-long tour of Britain's Muslim communities, during which he said he
picked up a mood of anxiety, frustration and, especially among young
people, anger.

His comments come days after Peter Clarke, the head of the Metropolitan
Police anti-terrorist branch, said thousands of British Muslims were being
watched by police and MI5 over suspected terrorist links.

Dr Bari, 52, who has succeeded Sir Iqbal Sacranie as the head of the
council, said: We want to isolate the bad people and put them in the dock.
But we all have to work together to do that — police, politicians, the media
and the Muslim community.

He did not understand why the whole of our diverse community was being
targeted. When the IRA was blowing people up, the entire Catholic
population of Britain was not demonised, so why is it happening to the
Muslim community?

The council leader — who took his post two days before a police raid in east
London, in which a Muslim man was shot but no charges were brought — said
the media had contributed to the demonisation by concentrating on a few
extremists and ignoring the law-abiding majority.

He said it was ridiculous that moderate Muslims had been accused of not
speaking out. When we speak we are ignored by the media, but when Abu Hamza
or Omar Bakri Mohammed say something they are all over the papers.

Mr Bari, a former air force engineer in Bangladesh and now a special needs
teacher in east London, said Islamophobia had increased after 9/11, 7/7,
last month's arrests over the alleged plot to blow up transatlantic
aircraft, and the raids last weekend on an Islamic school in East Sussex and
a London restaurant. Seventeen people have been charged over the alleged
plot and 14 were arrested in last weekend's raids.

Mr Bari criticised calls for security profiling at airports based on
ethnicity or religion, saying this reinforces a negative stereotype.
Meanwhile, moderate Muslim anger has been directed at Government policy.
Last month, leading Muslims wrote to Tony Blair saying his policy in Iraq
and on Israel offered ammunition to extremists and put British lives at
increased risk.

Mr Bari, a married father-of four, rejected claims that mosques encouraged
the rise of home-grown terrorists, but admitted that they needed
modernising and he was concerned that many imams did not speak English.

Some young Muslims are out of control. They are barred from the mosques and
ignore their parents.

The more established Muslim communities, such as those from east Africa,
were integrating well, but the relatively new communities were struggling
with poverty and poor academic achievement. They need help, he said.
Integration is a two-way process and the dominant, majority culture has to
do more.

Islamophobia was also making it hard for Muslims to rise to senior jobs, and
unemployment among Muslims was far higher than the national average.

He called for more Muslim representation in the police force, Parliament and
other areas of public life. Young Muslims need role models to show them
they can play a part in British society.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] FIDYAH FOR MISSED FASTS N AITIKAAF

2006-09-12 Thread Saba Khan
FIDYAH FOR MISSED FASTS N AITIKAAF

Fidyah
The person who is extremely old and does not have the
strength of
fasting, and the person who is extremely ill and does
not have any
hope of recovering nor the strength to fast will have
to give grain
to a poor person equivalent to the amount stipulated
for sadaqatul
fitr in place of every fast that such people miss.
Alternatively,
they could feed one poor person with two complete
meals for each
fast that they miss. In the Shariah this is known as
fidyah. It is
also permissible for such persons to give the value of
the grain in
cash.

It is also permissible to distribute this grain of
fidyah among
several poor persons.

If the old person happens to regain some of his
strength, or the
sick person recovers from his illness, they will have
to keep qada
for all the fasts which they had missed. As for the
fidyah which
they had paid, they will be rewarded separately for
that.

A person had to keep qada of several fasts. At the
time of death he
made a bequest that fidyah be paid in place of all his
missed fasts.
This fidyah will have to be paid by his inheritors
from his wealth.
After paying for the deceased person's funeral
arrangements, his
debts, etc. if one third of his left over wealth will
be sufficient
to pay the fidyah, then it will be wâjib to pay this
fidyah.

If the person did not make a bequest but his
inheritors paid the
fidyah out of their own wealth, even then one should
have the hope
that this act will be accepted by Allâh Ta'âla and
that He will not
make one accountable for the missed fasts. It should
be borne in
mind that it is not permissible for the inheritors to
pay the fidyah
from the deceased person's wealth if the latter did
not make a
bequest in that respect. Similarly, if the fidyah is
more than one
third of his wealth, then despite his making a bequest
in this
regard, it will not be permissible to utilise the
balance of his
money without the permission and consent of all the
inheritors. If
all the inheritors express their consent and
happiness, it will be
permissible to pay the fidyah in both cases. However,
it should be
remembered that the consent of immature inheritors is
not considered
in the Shariah. If the mature inheritors separate
their inheritance
and pay the fidyah from their share, it will be
permissible to do so.

The same rules will apply if a person had several
salâhs which he
had to make qada of and made a bequest that fidyah be
paid for the
salâhs that he missed.

The fidyah that will have to be paid for each missed
salâh will be
the same as that paid for each missed fast. Fidyah
will have to be
paid for the five fard salâhs plus the witr salâh;
totalling six
salâhs a day. According to this calculation,
approximately 12 kilos
of grain will have to be paid.

A person had not paid his zakât. By his making a
bequest, the paying
of this zakât will become wâjib on his inheritors. If
the person did
not make a bequest but his inheritors paid the zakât
on his behalf
out of their own good will and happiness, even then
the zakât will
not be fulfilled.

It is not permissible for the inheritors to offer qada
salâhs or
keep qada fasts on behalf of the deceased. If they do
so, the
deceased will not be absolved of his accountability to
Allâh Ta'âla.

It is not permissible to miss out the fasts of
Ramadhân without any
valid reason. To do so is a major sin. A person should
not be under
the misconception that he will keep qada of the missed
fast at a
later date. It is mentioned in a Hadith that if a
person misses a
single fast of Ramadhân and thereafter fasts the
entire year as a
compensation for that one missed fast, he will not
receive the
reward that he would have received for that one fast
of Ramadhân.

If a person does not fast on a particular day, he
should not eat or
drink in the presence of others. Nor should he inform
anyone that he
is not fasting on that day. This is because to commit
a sin and
thereafter to expose it is also a sin. The person will
get a double
sin if he informs others that he is not fasting - one
sin for not
fasting and another for informing others. It is wrong
to think that
when we cannot conceal anything from Allâh Ta'âla, why
should we
conceal it from others? In fact, even the person who
does not fast
due to some valid excuse, should not inform others,
nor should he
eat or drink in their presence.

When a young boy or girl becomes capable of fasting,
they should
also be commanded to fast. When they reach the age of
ten, they
should be beaten and made to fast. If they cannot keep
all the
fasts, they should be made to keep as many as
possible.

When an immature girl or boy keeps a fast and
thereafter break it,
they should not be made to keep qada of it. However,
if they
commence offering a salâh and thereafter break it,
they should be
made to repeat that salâh.

I'tikâf

Before the end of the 20th day of Ramadhân until the
moon of eid ul-
fitr is sighted, the act of sitting at the place where

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Making up missed Ramadaan fasts in the second half of Shabaan

2006-09-12 Thread Muhammad Salman Faheem

Bismillah hir Rehman nir RahimMaking up missed Ramadaan fasts in the second half of Sha’baan“There is nothing wrong with making up missed Ramadaan fasts in the second half of Sha’baan”Question #49884: I had many days owing of Ramadaan fasts because of pregnancy and giving birth, which coincided with the time of Ramadaan. I have made them up, praise be to Allaah, with the exception of the last seven days. I fasted three of them in the second half of Sha’baan, and I want to do the rest before Ramadaan begins. But I read on your site that it is not permissible to fast in the second half of Sha’baan, except for a person who habitually fasts. Please advise me, may Allaah reward you. I want to know whether I should fast the rest of these days that I owe, or not. If the answer is no, then what is the ruling on the three days that I have already fasted – do I have to make them up again or not?. Answer : Praise be to Allaah. It was proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When Sha’baan is halfway
through, do not fast.” Narrated by Abu Dawood (3237); Ibn Hibaan (1651); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi. There are some exceptions from this prohibition, as follows: 1 –One who has a habit of fasting, such as a man who habitually fasts on Mondays and Thursdays, which he may do even after halfway through Sha’baan. The evidence for that is the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), “Do not anticipate Ramadaan by fasting one or two days before it, except a man who fasts regularly, who should observe his usual fast.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1914; Muslim, 1082. 2 – A person who started fasting before halfway through Sha’baan, and connects what comes after the halfway point to what came before. This is not included in the prohibition either. The evidence for that is the words of ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) who said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to fast all of Sha’baan and fast all of Sha’baan except a little.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1970; Muslim, 1165. This version narrated by Muslim. Al-Nawawi said: “He used to fast all of Sha’baan and fast all of Sha’baan except a little.” The second phrase is an explanation of the first, pointing out that by “all” what is meant is “most”. This hadeeth indicates that it
is permissible to fast after halfway through Sha’baan, but only for one who joins that to what came before the halfway point. 3 – An exception from this prohibition is also made for one who is making up missed Ramadaan fasts. Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in al-Majmoo’ (6/399): Our companions said: it is not correct to fast on the “day of doubt” just before Ramadaan, and there is no difference of scholarly opinion on this point … But if a person
fasts it to make up a missed day or to fulfil a vow, or as an expiation, that is acceptable, because if it is permissible to observe a voluntary fast on that day, it is more likely to be permissible to observe an obligatory fast… and if a person has to make up a day from Ramadaan, then he has to fast it, because the time left for him to make it up has become very short. The “day of doubt” is the thirtieth of Sha’baan if it has not been possible to sight the moon of the thirtieth because of cloud, fog, etc. It is called the “day of doubt” because there is some doubt
concerning it – is it the last day of Sha’baan or the first day of Ramadaan? In conclusion: There is nothing wrong with making up a missed Ramadaan fast in the last half
of Sha’baan. This is not included in the prohibition of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) on fasting after halfway through Sha’baan. So your fasting of those three days is valid, and you have to fast the remaining days before Ramadaan begins. And Allaah knows best. Islam QA (www.islam-qa.com) Other Fatawas related to Making up Missed Fasts:It is not permissible to delay making up Ramadaan fasts until next Ramadaan beginsIs it essential to offer expiation as well as making up missed fasts, if a person delayed making them up with no excuse? If a person owes days from Ramadaan and cannot remember how many they are?To make up missed fasts the intention MUST be of “Making up a Missed Fast”When making up Missed Ramadaan Fasts, they NEED NOT be done consecutivelyIt’s permissible to Fast on the Day of Doubt one or two days before Ramadaan with the intention of making up a Missed Ramadaan FastIt is NOT valid to combine making up missed Ramadaan fasts with fasting six days of Shawwaal with ONE intentionA person should make up missed fast of Ramadan FIRST before fasting the six days of Shawwaal

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] How Much Muslim Are You?

2006-09-12 Thread saiyed shahbazi

Islam is not a proper name; it simply means submission and peace. There are many aspects of being a muslim or submitter to God. There are at least three spheres of divine law. Submitting oneself to those laws is the only way of attaining peace and eternal happiness. These laws are: 1. Natural Realm: Physical Laws The universe is God's 3-d book written in the language of natural law. All heavenly bodies, including our bodies, and their constituent sub atomic particles follow the physical law imposed by their Creator. Any person who studies God's law (ayaat) in the physical universe and follows the rules within, is rewarded by God with technology to enjoy the worldly life. A person who prefers ignorance or defies God's law in nature is automatically punished in accordance to that law. For instance, building a house without considering the law of gravity and natural
events such as earthquakes and floods may result in severe punishment. In other words, a muslim has to learn and obey God's law in nature. Those who do NOT CONTRADICT or DEFY God's ayaat in the universe are rewarded according to God's law. 2. Social Realm: Imperatives of Community Life Another aspect of being muslim is in the realm of society. Humans, as self-interested rational utility-maximizers, SIRUM, have to follow certain rules and impose on him/herself certain limits. For instance, if this rational human being thinks that living with other humans would increase the utility, or would make his life more comfortable and secure he will chose to live in a town instead of on top of a mountain. When a human decides to co-operate or compromise with others, he intellectually and empirically knows that he should respect the lives, property and the rights of others. Otherwise, he will be IN CONTRADICTION with the
mandate of his choice, that is being a member of a community. Thus, he will be punished either by civil war, or by aggression of others, by chaos or by law enforcement officers paid by those whose ancestors have sufficiently suffered the consequences of CONTRADICTING the laws of ecology and community life. A person who is civilized and respects the rights of others is muslim in this regard and he/she will be rewarded by prestige, position, etc. The verses in the Scriptures regarding not to kill, not to steal, not to covet the neighbor, not to lie, etc. are not something new or unknown to us. In fact, a SIRUM does not need those commandments. Obviously, at least the seven of those commandments (from 4 to 10) are discoverable by any SIRUM who lives in a community. The commandments were just a reminder for the rational humans and perhaps a guide or warning for those with irrational tendencies. People who adhere to secular
or atheistic belief system are muslims in this respect; they usually follow the last seven commandments and they are rewarded by having a society with a working legal, political, economic and social system. Those who chose to establish hegemony, those who chose to oppress others for their ethnic and religious differences are punished by chaos, insecurity, corruption and continuos wars. The social divine law is logically inherent in the fabric of a community of individuals. In other words, individuals or subgroups have to respect some obvious rational rules in order to increase utility in the community. With the increase in the world population, the advancement of mass communication and transportation, national borders have lost their function and interdependence of nations has increased. International trade, therefore, will inevitably change the political landscape of the world dramatically. Therefore, the 21st century
will most likely continue to unite many national interests with those of the entire human population. A nation can no longer tolerate human rights violation or environmental pollution in another corner of the globe, since their own economic interest will most probably be at stake. 3. Intellectual Realm: Knowledge of God and Eternal Happiness Why do we need a message from God? What is the relevancy of revelations? Here comes the third realm where being muslim is imperative. Being a muslim, that is surrendering to God and conforming to His law, cannot be completed without being muslim in heart or in mind. Real happiness and reward is attained only if we complete our submission to natural and social laws with our submission to God through our mind and ACCEPT God as the only Lord and Master of the Day of Judgment. This last aspect of submission is what really brings the ultimate freedom and
happiness, and together with the other spheres of submission removes all worries and solves all problems. In summary, we can only attain happiness both in this world and hereafter, if we submit our person to God while submitting our actions to His laws in nature and in our community. Islam in the Quran Islam is not a proper name, nor it is the religion founded by Muhammad as it is falsely

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] WHY IS PORK FORBIDDEN IN ISLAM??

2006-09-12 Thread Abu Nabhan

WHY IS PORKFORBIDDEN INISLAM?? Bob: Tell mewhy is it that a Muslim is very particular about thewords Halaal andHaraam; what do they mean? Yunus:Thatwhich is permissible is
termed Halaal and that which is not permissible istermed Haraam and it is the Quran which draws the distinction between thetwo. Bob: Can you give me anexample? Yunus: Yes, Islam hasprohibited blood of any type. You will agree that a chemical analysis of bloodshows that it contains an abundance of uric acid, a chemical substance that canbe injurious to human health. Bob:You're right about the toxic nature of uric acid, in the human being it isexcreted as a waste product and in fact we are told that 98% of the body's uricacid is extracted from the blood by the kidneys and removed through urination. Yunus: Now I think that you’llappreciate the special prescribed method of animal slaughter inIslam. Bob: What do youmean? Yunus: You see, the wielder of theknife, whilst taking the name of the 'Almighty', makes an incision through thejugular veins, leaving all other veins and organsintact. Bob: I see, this causes thedeath of the
animal by a total loss of blood from the body, rather than aninjury to any vital organ. Yunus: Yes,were the organs, example the heart, the liver, or the brain crippled or damaged, the animal could die immediately and its blood would congeal in its veins andwould eventually permeate the flesh. This implies that the animal flesh would bepermeated and contaminated with uric acid and therefore very poisonous; onlytoday did our dietitians realize such athing. Bob: Again, while on the topic offood; Why do Muslims condemn the eating of pork or ham or any foods related topigs or swine. Yunus: Actually, apart fromthe Quran prohibiting the consumption of pork, bacon (pig flesh); in fact theBible too in Leviticus chapter 11, Verse 8, regarding swine it says, "of theirflesh (of the swine another name for pig) shall you not eat, and
of theircarcass you shall not touch; they are unclean to you." Further, did you knowthat a pig couldn’t be slaughtered at the neck for it does not have a neck; thatis according to its natural anatomy. A Muslim reasons that if the pig was tobe slaughtered and fit for human consumption the Creator would have provided itwith a neck. Nonetheless, all that aside, I am sure you are well informedabout the harmful effects of theconsumption of pork, in any form, be itpork chops, ham, bacon. Bob: The medicalscience finds that there is a risk for various diseases as the pig is found tobe a host for many parasites and potentialdiseases. Yunus: Yes, even apart from that,as we talked about uric
acid content in the blood, it is important to note thatthe pig's biochemistry excretes only 2% of its total uric acid content, theremaining 98% remains as an integral part of the body. Please forward toothersit may answer some of their questions especially when thechildren ask

{Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'an) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.} (Holy Quran-16:125)

{And who is better in speech than he who [says: My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness), and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allah's (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: I am one of the Muslims.} (Holy Quran-41:33)

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: By Allah, if Allah guides one person by you, it is better for you than the best types of camels. [al-Bukhaaree, Muslim]

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said, Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all. [Muslim, Ahmad, Aboo Daawood, an-Nasaa'ee, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah]
