Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Reciting Soorat al-Ikhlaas 10,000 times for a sick person
- (Reference: http://books.google.co.uk/books?vid=ISBN1861791542) - 22366: Reciting Soorat al-Ikhlaas 10,000 times for a sick person Question: I have a question related to a sick person who has found out that they have cancer. the family wishes to do a khatum(adults will gather and in silence they read the surah Iklas over and over hoping to read it 10,000 times, the niyat is for the sick individual to recover). Is this permissible, or should they just pray to Allah SWT for help individually? Answer: Praise be to Allaah. Undoubtedly in the Qur'aan there is healing for mankind; and it was narrated that in certain verses and soorahs there is healing and protection for man, and that they can ward off bad things, by Allaah's leave, such as al-Faatihah, al-Mi'wadhatayn, Aayat al-Kursiy and Soorat al-Ikhlaas. Whoever recites some aayahs or soorahs, and repeats them three or seven times, as needed, without persisting in a specific number that was not referred to in sharee'ah, then there is no reason why he should not do that, so long as he believes that healing is in the Hand of Allaah Who has created in the Qur'aan healing for mankind. To that may be added ruqyah using du'aa's narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), such as the words, Adhhib al-ba's Rabb an-naas, wa'shfi anta al-Shaafi, laa shifaa'a illa shifaa'uka shifaa' laa yughaadir saqaman (Take away the pain, O Lord of mankind, and grant healing, for You are the Healer, and there is no healing but Your healing that leaves no trace of sickness). (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5243; Muslim, 4061) And one may do as the great Sahaabi advised, when someone who was suffering pain complained to him. He said: Put your hand on the part of your body that is hurting and say, Bismillaah three times, then say seven times, `A'oodhu Billaahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhaadhir (I seek refuge with Allaah and His Power from the evil of what I am suffering from and what I am worried about). If one does that, and recites other du'aa's that have been narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in saheeh reports, that will be very good. If trust in Allaah is combined with thinking of the meanings of the verses and du'aa's that are being recited, and both the one who is doing ruqya and the one for whom it is done are righteous people, that will be very beneficial, if Allaah wills. Based on the above, gathering in the manner mentioned in the question and reciting Qul huwa Allaahu ahad a certain number of times (10,000 times) is not something which is prescribed in Islam, so you should be content with doing that which is narrated in the Sunnah. We ask Allaah to heal your sick loved one quickly, and to grant him good health. Ameen. - (Reference: http://books.google.co.uk/books?vid=ISBN1861791542) - *** {Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'an) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. [al-Bukhaaree, Muslim] The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said, Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all. Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Maal Hijrah Awwal Muharram Awwal Khilafah
OH Muslims! We are Living in an ERA where it is NECESSARY for us to CALL A SPADE A SPADE A SHOVEL A SHOVEL so as to PUT FORTH our Point Of View EFFECTIVELY Without Mincing Words - AB Maal Hijrah Awwal Muharram Awwal Khilafah Maal Hijrah marks a day of tremendous importance, not only for the Islamic Ummah but also for the whole world. Not only is it the Islamic new year, it was the beginning of a golden age of justice, learning and civilisation, a new system of life for mankind. Within 10 years, this tiny City State, was to purify the Hijaz from Mushrikeen, overcome the Persians and humble the Roman empires and absorb both into Dar ul Islam. It marks the birth of the worlds first ideological state Daulah Islamiyyah in Madinat ul Munawwarah. This day now passes almost like any other new years day of any other peoples of the world. Indeed, at this time when the war against Islam (the so called GWOT) continues unabated, albeit at a more subtle and sinister level - the soft war, to corrupt our hearts and minds and terrify us into submission, it is all the more important that we reflect on the true significance of this day. Awal Muharram, our New Year of the Islamic lunar calendar commemorates the Hijrah the emigration of the Believers from Makkah to Madinah. Although, prior to the Hijrah they were tortured and slayed in Makkah for their Islam, the Muslims werent emigrating to Madinah merely to escape persecution. Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam and the first Muslims were taking a critical strategic step, to establish Daulah Islamiyyah so as to manifest and implement the Deen of Islam and to take the Islamic dawah to the rest of the world. Daulah Islamiah the Implementation of Islam The whole nature of Islam and the Muslims were transformed. Whereas in Makkah there were only general rules, in Madinah there were detailed systems and rules, implemented and enforced. Whereas in Makkah the kuffar tortured and killed Muslims with impunity, (as the Muslims took no material action at that time) in contrast within a period of just 4 months of establishing the State, Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam sent out various raiding sorties outside of Madinah - toward the sea-shore in the neighbourhood of Al Is, the valley of Rabigh and Makkah in a show of force, establishing the authority of Islam. Even the nature of Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam changed from that of being a Rasul and leader of his group to a Rasul and ruler, statesmen, judge and Amir ul Jihaad. Whereas previously Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam could only watch as the family of Yasser RA and others were tortured to death, now he would accept no persecution and was preparing the fledgling Islamic State for war. Madinah the First Ideological State The significance of Madinah cannot be underestimated. It was the worlds first ideological state, established on the Aqeedah of Islam. It was not a state based on selfish benefit of one nation or tribe or race or accidents of geography. Nor was it an empire built on enslavement or lies or material greed. Within days of arriving Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam had set out a covenant establishing the rights and responsibilities of ruler and citizens both Muslims and dhimmis. Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam defined the nature of the Islamic Ummah and the Daulah of Islam. The noble covenant of Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam read, This is a document from Muhammad the Prophet, governing the relations between the Believers and Muslims of Quraish and Yathrib and those who followed them, and joined them and fought alongside them. They are ONE UMMAH TO THE EXCLUSION OF ALL PEOPLE. To the Jews who follow us belong help and equality. They shall not be wronged, nor shall their enemies be aided. He set out the Islamic world-view and defined the Islamic Ummah including their responsibilities and duties of fellowship and brotherhood to each other. He prescribed the international rules and relations by which the Islamic Ummah and State were to regard friend or foe. He sallallahu alaihi wasallam defined the enemy with no ambiguity and set the stance of State and Believer toward them - that they and their helpers had no protection from the Believers. It was after the establishment of the State and the consequent implementation of Islam in life, which saw the perfection of the Deen. Allah subhanahu wa taala proclaims, This day have those who reject faith given up all hope of your religion: yet fear them not but fear Me. This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. [T.M.Q. Al Maida:3] The light of Islam exploded across the world. Within the space of 2 years the Muslims would win the battle of Badr the first of many battles with the mushrik Quraish before the final and eternal conquest of
Boycott Israel [IslamCity] War on Muslims - Ominous Signs of a Wider War
Who Has Authorized America to Make the Countries of the World Tailor Their Policies to Americas Measurements, If They Dont Oblige, Then War Should Be Waged Against Them? How Can One Understand Americas Call for Democracy If It Does Not Permit a Difference of Opinion Even in Issues of a Regional Character, to Say Nothing of International Ones? Saddam Hussein article | posted January 10, 2007 (web only) Ominous Signs of a Wider War Michael T. Klare http://www.thenation.com/doc/20070122/klare On January 5 Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced that he was replacing Gen. John Abizaid as commander of the Central Command (Centcom)--the body responsible for oversight of all US forces in Iraq, Afghanistan and the greater Middle East--with Adm. William Fallon, currently the commander of the Pacific Command (Pacom). Fallon is one of several senior officers recently appointed by Gates to oversee the new strategy for Iraq now being shaped by President Bush. The choice of Fallon to replace Abizaid was highly unusual in several respects. First, this is a lateral move for the admiral, not a promotion: As head of Pacom, Fallon commanded a larger force than he will oversee at Centcom, and one over which he will exercise less direct control since all combat operations in Iraq will be under the supervision of Gen. Dave Petraeus, the recently announced replacement for Gen. George Casey as commander of all US and allied forces. Second, and more surprising, Fallon is a Navy man, with experience in carrier operations, while most of Centcom's day-to-day work is on the ground, in the struggle against insurgents and warlords in Iraq and Afghanistan. Part of the explanation for this move, of course, is a desire by the White House to sweep away bitter ground-force commanders like Abizaid and Casey who had opposed an increase in US troops in Iraq and argued for shifting greater responsibility for the fighting to Iraq forces, thereby permitting a gradual American withdrawal. The Baghdad situation requires more Iraqi troops, not more Americans, Abizaid said in a recent interview with the New York Times. For this alone, Abizaid had to go. But there's more to it. Abizaid, who is of Lebanese descent and served a tour of duty with UN forces in Lebanon, has come to see the need for a regional solution to the crisis in Iraq--one that inevitably requires some sort of engagement with Iran and Syria, as recommended by the Iraq Study Group. You have to internationalize the problem, you have to attack it diplomatically, geo-strategically, he told the Times. You just can't apply a microscope on a particular problem in downtown Baghdad...and say that somehow or another, if you throw enough military forces at it, you are going to solve the broader issues in the region of extremism. If engagement with Iran and Syria was even remotely on the agenda, Abizaid is exactly the man you'd want on the job at Centcom overseeing US forces and strategy in the region. But if that's not on the agenda, if you're thinking instead of using force against Iran and/or Syria, then Admiral Fallon is exactly the man you'd want at Centcom. Why? Because combined air and naval operations are his forte. Fallon began his combat career as a Navy combat flyer in Vietnam, and he served with carrier-based forces for twenty-four years after that. He commanded a carrier battle wing during the first Gulf War in 1991 and led the naval group supporting NATO operations during the Bosnia conflict four years later. More recently, Fallon served as vice chief of naval operations before becoming the head of Pacom in 2005. All this means that he is primed to oversee an air, missile and naval attack on Iran, should the President give the green light for such an assault--and the fact that Fallon has been moved from Pacom to Centcom means that such a move is very much on Bush's mind. The recent replacement of General Abizaid by Admiral Fallon, along with other recent moves announced by the Defense Secretary, should give deep pause to anyone concerned about the prospect of escalation in the Iraq War. Contrary to the advice given by the Iraq Study Group, Bush appears to be planning for a wider war--with much higher risk of catastrophic failure--not a gradual and dignified withdrawal from the region. about Michael T. Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Muharram Celebration Of Shia Is Against The Shari'ah
Muharram Celebration Of Shia Is Against The Shari'ah MUHARRAM BEING THE FIRST MONTH OF HIJRA IT IS NO DOUBT OF GREAT HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE. MOREOVER, IT IS ALSO A VERY SACRED MONTH AS THE GREAT DELIVERANCE DAY OF ASHURA FALLS ON THE 10TH OF THIS MONTH. IT IS A VERY SACRED DAY AND MANY EVENTS RELATING TO THE PROPHETS OF YORE TOOK PLACE ON THIS DAY SUCH AS DELIVERANCE OF: (1) PROPHET IBRAHEEM (A.S.) FROM FIRE; (2) PROPHET MOSSA (A.S.) FROM THE PURSUING ARMY OF PHARAOH WHO WAS DROWNED AND MOSSA (A.S.) WAS SAVED BY ALLAH. THE HOLY PROPHET ASKED HIS FOLLOWERS TO RESPECT THIS DAY OF ASHURA BY OBSERVING FAST AND BY DEVOTION TO WORSHIP. THE SHI'ITES HAVE TURNED THIS DAY INTO A DAY OF MOURNING ON ACCOUNT OF THE UNFORTUNATE EVENTS OF KARBALA WHERE HAZRAT HUSSAIN (R.A.) WAS MARTYRED. THE SHI'ITES DEVOTE THE MONTH OF MUHARRAM, ESPECIALLY THE FIRST 10 DAYS, TO MOURNING BY CELEBRATING EVENTS OF THE BATTLE OF KARBALA AND CRYING AND WEEPING, SHEDDING TEARS, BEATING CHESTS BY HANDS AND CHAINS, TAKING OUT TA'ZIA (REPLICA OF THE FUNERAL BIER) AND YELLING YA-HASAN, YA HUSEIN, YA ALI ETC. ALL THESE ACTS ARE INNOVATIONS AND PROHIBITED BY THE TEACHINGS OF ISLAM. EVEN IN THE CASE OF NEAR AND DEAR ONES, CRYING ALOUD IS NOT PERMITTED AND MOURNING WITH TEARFUL EYES AND PAINFUL HEARTS IS ALLOWED ONLY FOR THREE DAYS. THERE AFTER IT IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. IN THE QUR'AN THE MUSLIMS ARE ADVISED : O YE WHO BELIEVE ! SEEK HELP IN PATIENCE AND PRAYER; FOR VERILY ALLAH IS WITH THOSE WHO ARE PATIENT. (2 : 153). IN THE FACE OF QUR'ANIC VERSE AND AHADITH OF THE PROPHET (SAW) HAZRAT HUSSAIN MADE A WILL ( ) TO HER SISTER ZAINAB IN THE PLAINS OF KARBALA WHICH READS: O MY DEAR SISTER ! I BESEECH YOU IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THAT IF I FELL MARTYR IN THE PATH OF ALLAH, DO NOT TEAR YOUR CLOTHES OR BISMERCH YOUR FACE; DO NOT RAISE HUE AND CRY. THUS HE CONSOLED HIS MEMBERS OF THE HOUSEHOLD AND PREPARED HIMSELF FOR THE JOURNEY TO THE WORLD HEREAFTER ( VOL. II P. 178). THE PROPHET (SAW) AT THE TIME OF HIS DEMISE ADVISED HIS BELOVED DAUGHTER FATIMAH NOT TO WAIL OR PLUCK HER HAIR AFTER HIS DEATH OR REPEAT SUCH OTHER PRACTICES OF THE DAY OF JAHILIYAH. ABDULLAH BIN MASUD REPORTED ALLAH'S MESSENGER AS SAYING, HE WHO BEATS THE CHEEKS, TEARS THE FRONT OF THE GARMENTS, AND CRIES OUT AS PEOPLE DID IN PRE-ISLAMIC TIMES, DOES NOT BELONG TO US. (BUKHARI AND MUSLIM). HE ALSO REPORTED ALLAH'S MESSENGER AS SAYING, IF THE WAILING-WOMAN DOES NOT REPENT BEFORE SHE DIES, SHE WILL BE MADE TO STAND ON THE DAY OF RESURRECTION WEARING A GARMENT OF PITCH AND A CHEMISE OF MANGE. (MUSLIM). THE ULAMA OF SHIA RELIGION SHOULD DO SOME SOUL SEARCHING AND SEE WHY IN DEFIANCE OF THE SAYINGS OF THE PROPHET (SAW) AND HADHRAT HUSSAIN, THEY DO ALL SORT OF FLAGRANTLY UN-ISLAIMC THINGS OF THE DAYS OF IGNORANCE ON THE DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF IMAM HUSSAIN EVERY YEAR? PRESIDENT KHAMENEI OF IRAN TOLD A FRIDAY PRAYER MEETING THAT WRONG CUSTOMS WERE BEING PRACTISED IN COMMEMORATING ASHURA HUSSAINI. HE SAID ALL CUSTOMS WHICH WERE MERE DEMONSTRATION AND A SHOW ARE AGAINST THE PRINCIPLES OF ISLAM. EXCESSIVE AND AIMLESS USE OF MONEY AND RESORCES FOR MERE DISPLAY IN OBERSVING ASHURA KEEPS US AWAY FROM THE PATH OF HUSSAIN. MAKING OF ALAMS (FLAGES) AND TAZIA WHICH IS NEITHER IN THE SHAPE OF A DOME NOR AN ISLAMIC ARE IS ANOT AN ISLAMIC SYMBOL FOR THESE CELEBRATIONS, THE IRANIAN PRESIDENT SAID. THIS TYPE OF EXPENDITURE IS UN-ISLAMIC (HARAM) AND MARS THE VERY SPIRIT OF ASHURA WHICH SHOULD NOT BE A DAY OF RECREATION. REFERRING TO THE FATWA OF IMAM KHOMENI, HE SAID THAT DURING THE RELIGIOUS CEREMONIES, LOUNDS SPEAKERS SHOULD NOT BE TOO LOUD AND AT THE PLACES OF MOURNING, NEIGHBOURS SHOULD NOT BE DISTURBED. NOR SHOULD PEOPLE BE COMPELLED TO MOURN IN THE DAYS OF MUHARRAM. MOURNING SHOULD NOT BE A NUISANCE FOR THE PEOPLE. (DAILY THE MUSLIM ISLAMABAD 14TH OCTOBER, 1984). QAZI MAZHAR HUSSAIN, AMIR, TAHRIK KHUDDAM AHLE-SUNNAH, PAKISTAN HOWEVER, IS OF THE CONSIDERED OPINION THAT BEWAILING AND OTHER SUCH PRACTICES CONNECTED WITH MUHARRAM HAVE BECOME A PART OF SHIA RELIGION AND THE ABOVE REFERRED PERSONALITIES ONLY BY WAY OF TAQIYA HAVE TENDERED THIS ADVICE TO SHIA TO GAIN THE GOODWILL OF THE SUNNIS WHO WANT PEACE AND TRANSQUALITY TO PREVAIL IN THE BEGINING OF THE HIJRI YEAR I.E. MUHARRAM. A MAJOR FACTOR RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROGRESS AND ADVANCEMENT OF SHIA RELIGION IS THE MOURNING ASSEMBLIES AND PROCESSIONS ON AUSHRA FROM 1 TO 10 OF THE MUHARRAM EVERY YEAR. IN INDO-PAKISTAN THESE MOURNING ASSEMBLIES AND PROCESSIONS ARE CONTINUING SINCE THE DAYS OF BRITISH COLONIALISM WHEN THE COLONIAL REGIME ISSUED REGULAR PERMITS FOR THIS PURPOSE. THE BRITISH WANTED TO BOOST THE POWER TO SHIAS AGAINST THE SUNNIAS SO THAT THROUGH SUCH DIVISION THEY COULD NOT ONLY PROLONG THEIR RULE IN INDIA BUT ALSO TO WEAKEN THE STRENGTH OF MUSLIMS THROUGH PROMOTING DIVISION AND MUTUAL RIVALRIES. EVEN AFTER THE CREATION OF PAKISTAN, THE GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN GIVING PATRONAGE TO SUCH SHIA FESTIVALS AND ACTIVITIES BECAUSE THE SHIAS ARE
Boycott Israel [IslamCity] The Merit of one Dhikr compared to other Dhikrs
Dhikrs (remembrance) are classified into a few categories, each having merits over the others, or the rewards for one is more compared to the others on top of having multitudes of virtues, advantages, benefits and effects that are praiseworthy. Among the Dhikrs that have precedence over others, in fact the most praiseworthy and highest in rank of them is, Laa Ilaaha Illallaah (There is no god but Allah). The Prophet, may Allah grant blessings and peace upon him, once said: The best Dhikr is: Laa Ilaaha Ilallaah and the best supplication is: Alhamdulillah. He, may Allah grant blessings and peace upon him, also said: The best words me and the Prophets before me had said is: Laa Ilaaha Illallaah. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah grant blessings and peace upon him, said, relating that Allah Most High said: Laa Ilaaha Illallaah is My fortress, and whoever enter into My fortress is saved from My torment. He also said: Renew your faith! The Companions of the Prophet asked: How to renew our faith? Answered the Prophet: Saying in abundance Laa Ilaaha Illallah. He, may Allah grant blessings and peace upon him, also said: Subhanallah (fills) half the scale (al-Mizan), and Alhamdulillah fills it, and Laa Ilaaha Illallah (there is) no wall (separation) between it and Allah. There is also a tradition that states: Verily there is a branch made of light rooted in front of Allah. When a person says Laa Ilaaha Illallaah the branch shook (out of fear). Then Allah Most High says: Hush! Replied the branch: How am I to hush, when You have not pardoned the person. Hence Allah Most High said: I have pardoned him. Then the branch remains silent. Another tradition says: Verily when a slave says Laa Ilaaha Illallaah, with every Laa Ilaaha Illallaah said, it comes across an evil deed in his record book, but it erases it, until it comes across a good deed, where it stays by its side. Another tradition says: Even if the seven heavens and the seven earths and whatever is in them is placed on one side of the scale, and placed on the other side the utterance Laa Ilaaha Illallaah, verily the scale with Laa Ilaaha Illallaah would be heavier. Other traditions that confirm the primacy of the utterance of Laa Ilaaha Illallaah are numerous and are renowned. The reason we stated the merits here is to serve as a reminder and not for the purpose of mere calculation. It is thus sufficient enough to make a distinction of its merits, that it is the declaration that is required to be said if a person wishes to embrace Islam, and verily whoever ends his life with uttering the statement (as his last words), then he would obtain everlasting bliss that has no blemishes thereafter. Oh Allah! Oh My God! You are the Most Merciful, we ask of You that You (make) our lives and our deaths and resurrect us upon the words Laa Ilaaha Illallaah, in a surrendering state to You, and likewise for our parents, our loved ones and the entire Muslim Community, Amin. It was related from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah grant blessings and peace upon him : Laa Ilaaha Illallaah Wahdahuu Laa Syariikalah, Lahul-Mulku Walahul-Hamdu Wahuwa Ala Kulli Syai-in Qadiir (There is no god but Allah the One, no partners ascribed unto Him, to Him belongs all kingdoms and to Him (all) the praises, and He is Above (the cause of) everything that is Powerful), whoever utter it ten times, the reward is like that of a person who frees four lives from the sons of Ismail, peace be upon him. He, may Allah grant blessings and peace upon him, also said: Whoever utter: Laa Ilaaha Illallaah Wahdahuu Laa Syariikalah, Lahul-Mulku Walahul-Hamdu Wahuwa Ala Kulli Syai-in Qadiir, every day a hundred times, then his reward is like that of a person who frees a slave (riqaab), recorded for him a hundred good deeds, erased for him a hundred evil deeds, given to him refuge from the devil from that day to its afternoon, and there is no one who did a better deed than that of which he did (uttering the statement), except for the one who did more than him. He, may Allah grant blessings and peace upon him, also said: Whoever utter: Laa Ilaaha Illallaah Wahdahuu Laa Syariikalah, Lahul-Mulku Walahul-Hamdu Wahuwa Ala Kulli Syai-in Qadiir, there is no deed that precedes it, and that there is no evil that would be left. - saiyed shahbazi www.shahbazcenter.org
Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Marriage Rate Down Birth Rate Up in Free France (A Bi Product of DATING)
Western World FREEDOM Exposed When the West Talks About FREEDOM, What It Really Means Is That We Muslims Have to Give Up Our Values Our Way of Life Adapt the Wests Values Way of Life. - AB Amour Rules in France but Weddings Don't By ZOE MEZIN, Associated Press Writer http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060127/ap_on_re_eu/france_marriage PARIS - France may still be the land of love. But the country's traditional tableau of marriage and the baby carriage has changed dramatically in three decades, according to a parliamentary report released Friday. Nearly half of children are now born out of wedlock, and the marriage rate is down 27 percent compared to 1970 prompting calls for reform of France's widely used civil unions. And yet, there's a baby boom. With 1.94 children born to the average woman, France has the highest birth rate in the European Union after Ireland's 1.99, according to 2005 demographic figures released last week. The European average is 1.5 babies per woman. The glossy French magazine Paris Match devoted its cover this week to the high birth rate, with a photo of French actress Judith Godreche (The Spanish Apartment) holding her diaper-clad baby under the headline France, champion of births. The parliamentary study, drafted by a bipartisan parliamentary committee, was commissioned over a year ago. Legislators were expected to use the report as a basis to modify existing legislation on marriage and the rights of children. Among other findings: The average age at marriage has increased by nearly six years for both men and women since 1970, to 28.8 for women and 30.9 for men. And today, 42 percent of marriages end in divorce compared with 12 percent three decades ago, the report said. Sometimes, romantic partners decide not to marry because they have already experienced complicated divorces or breakups, the report said. And the stigma of living together outside wedlock is simply disappearing, it said. Virginie Mathon, a 31-year-old mother of a 3-year-old in the eastern city of Grenoble, has decided not to marry her partner. Mathon's grandmother was disappointed. But her parents, who came of age in the 1960s, were supportive. It's a way to stay free, Mathon said. I don't want to be 'someone's wife.' I don't want to change my name. The evolution of French families contradicts certain stereotypes handed down over the years, said Claude Martin, a sociologist with France's National Center for Scientific Research. The first is that countries with many practicing Roman Catholics such as Italy, Spain or Poland have higher birth rates than more secular countries such as France. The second is that working prevents women from having children. Countries where women have access to professional life are also those where the birth rate is higher, Martin told Le Monde newspaper. The parliamentary report also studied the outcome of a 1999 French law that gave unmarried couples, including homosexual couples, extensive legal rights if they register their unions with the state. The legislation, known as PACS, was pushed through by the former leftist government and created a fierce public debate at the time, with opponents claiming it would undermine traditional family values. Some 170,000 such unions have been signed in France, the report said. It urged the government to strengthen such alternative unions by reforming the law to make it more like marriage. Proposed revisions include property rights, laws of succession and taxation. The committee is favorable to a reform of the PACS that resolves difficulties encountered since its creation, all the while respecting the specificity of marriage, the report said. The report did not recommend legalizing marriage for gay couples. The report was rejected by left-wing members of the committee, who are pressing for broader measures. We are for gay marriage, and it needs to be the same as for heterosexual couples, Socialist politician Adeline Hazan said. A poll by Figaro Magazine in August showed a majority of French people support the idea of gay marriage, though conservative President Jacques Chirac has spoken against it. Associated Press reporter Nathalie Schuck contributed to this report. AB [EMAIL PROTECTED] For to us will be their return; then it will be for us to call them to account. Boycott Israel [IslamCity] The Political Awareness of the Hijri - Part 1
Shias Should STOP Hurling Insults at the Companions of Prophet Muhammad (saws) His Wives While Sunnis Should STOP Calling Shias Infidels. - Ayatollah al-Taskhiri Political Awareness of the Hijri The muslims ought to be reminded of the events that took place to signify the Hijra. And what is incumbent is to reveal its essence so as to make the muslims truly understand its meaning and significance as opposed to a mere spiritual tradition that is inherited like the other religions, or the events that resulted in a mere change in the recording of the calendar, much like the calendar of the christians. In order to portray its vital (ideological) aspects, that which is not discussed today due to its threat to the present regimes, it is necessary to first undertake a study of the Hijra from the authentic sources of seerah, and then to derive the meaning from it. The meaning that will draw attention to the real issues of today - that Islam is both a spiritual and political Doctrine - such that by it the generation of a momentum to revive the muslim ummah will spring from it, and at the same time all will be made aware of it. A study from the authentic sources of seerah The Messenger of Allah (saw) ordered the muslims in Makka to migrate to Medina in small parties, and so they began to migrate either individually or in small groups. As for the political awareness of Quraysh with respect to the muslims Ibn Ishaq states, When Quraysh saw that Muhammad (saw), had assembled a party, and had support from elsewhere other than from the Quraysh and Makka, from a town other than theirs, and witnessed Muhammad's (saw) companions moving out to join these forces, they realised that the muslims had found a new home with them and had acquired their protection. Quraysh were concerned that Muhammad would also leave them, since they knew that he had decided to do battle with them. As for the actual Quraysh response to this situation ibn Ishaq states, Quraysh were concerned that the Messenger of Allah (saw), would leave and join them (those from a different tribe), since they knew that he had decided to do battle with them. They therefore, gathered in Dar al-Nadwa - the House of Assembly - the home of Qusayy bin Kilab, where all their top-level decisions were made. According to ibn Kathir, Related from Abdullah bin Abu Najih, from Mujahid bin Jabr, that Abdullah ibn Abbas narrates the following. The day arrived when they agreed to meet to enter their assembly to discuss what to do about the Messenger of Allah (saw). That day is known as yawm al-zahma (The Day of Gathering), and on it Shaytan, came before them in the form of a Shaikh from Nejd dressed in a heavy cloak. He stood at the door of the house, and when they saw him they asked who he was. Shaytan replied, I come from Nejd, from the highlands, and I have heard why you have agreed to meet, and I have come to listen to what you say and perhaps offer some advice or comment. They invited him in. He entered the meeting where the Quraysh leadership were assembled. They consisted of Utba, Shayba, Abu Sufyan, Tai'ma bin Adi, Jubayr bin al-Harith, Abu al-Bakhtari bin Hisham, Zam'a bin al-Aswad, Hakim bin Hizam, Abu Jahl, Nabih and Munabbih, sons of al-Hajjaj, and Umayya bin Khalaf, along with various others of their supporters from Quraysh. They reminded one another of what they had experienced from the behaviour of Muhammad (saw), and agreed that they felt insecure (danger) from the possibility that he (saw), the muslims, together with their material support (the chiefs of Medina), might make an attack upon them. Having discussed the issue, one of them said to have been Al-Bakhtari bin Hisham suggested, Put him in irons and gaol him, then wait for him to have the same fate that befell poets before him, such as Zubayr and al-Nabigha. He would die as they had. But the Nejdi Shaikh objected saying, No that is not a good plan. If you do shut him up, news of him will get right past the door you have locked on him and reach his supporters. They will promptly attack you and release him and then increase until they overcome you. That is not a good idea. They consulted further, and one suggested, Let's exile him from our territory. Once he has gone we'll be rid of him and we'll be able to restore our affairs as they were before. The Nejdi Shaikh again observed, No. That's not a good idea for you. You know how sweet his talk is, and his reasoning, and how he convinces others of his message. If you do that you'd have no security against him going to live with some Arab tribe and using his speech and discourse to get them to follow him. Then he would lead them against you and perhaps defeat or dispossess you and do what they like with you. No, think of something else. Abu Jahl then said, I have an idea that hasn't occurred to you yet. What is it? They asked him. I
Boycott Israel [IslamCity] The War against Hinduism By Stephen Knapp.
This article gives an idea of Conversion of Hindus and Christian Missionary activities in India. Posted by: Dr. Rabinder K. Koul [EMAIL PROTECTED] arrk00 Mon Jan 22, 2007 6:05 pm (PST) The War Against Hinduism News From India (July, 2001) By Stephen Knapp Over the years we have all heard about the many attempts that have been made in India to convert various sections of society from Hinduism to either Christianity or Islam. But only after my last trip to India (June, 2001) did I really get a much clearer understanding of what has been going on. Furthermore, most devotees in Iskcon, as well as many Indians, are not fully aware of how the war against Hinduism is happening, nor how serious it is. It is taking place on many levels, and because of this, in some areas, the practice of Hinduism is declining rapidly. When I was traveling, I had gone on a lecture tour, speaking every night at places like Mumbai, Nagpur, Warangal, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Hyderbad, Bangalore, Trivadrum, and Chennai. So I had the chance to meet with many of the intellectuals and some of the spiritual leaders in these areas, and learned how conversion was a very hot issue. Now I don't have anything in particular against Christianity itself. I was born and raised a Christian, so I know what it is, but also how they work. My main contention is when the teachings that are said to come from Jesus are twisted and misinterpreted into something that does not spread the genuine love of God and humanity that we are all supposed to develop, but becomes the dog-like barking and criticism against every other religion that is not Christian. This does not only go on toward every religion outside of Christianity, but also within it between Catholics and Protestants and other denominations. It seems that this faith has become not something that promotes our similarities for cooperation, but our differences in that everyone who is of a unrelated Christian denomination are all going to hell. In regard to India, there is a great number of missionaries of various denominations who are working there right now, all competing for the most number of converts. The Southern Baptists alone are a group that has nearly 100,000 career missionaries in North India, all working to spread the good word. We also find that in order to make converts from Hinduism some of the numerous Catholic priests in Southern India dress like sannyasis, and call their organizations ashramas. This is to make Christianity more similar to the Vedic traditions. Bharat Natyam dance is also taught in the Christian schools, but with Christian symbols and meanings replacing the Vedic. This is all in the attempt to actively sway Hindus over to Christianity. Some of the tactics that the Christian missionaries have used to help make converts is to offer cheap polyester pants to the tribals of the Northeast if they become Christian, or even offer motor bicycles if they help convert their brothers, which also means their wives and family. In Madhya Pradesh, as noted in the Neogy Report, the missionaries give small loans on interest to the tribals, who cannot pay back such loans easily. However, if they become Christian, then such loans and the interest are dismissed. This is what goes on in the democracy of India, and under the tolerance of the Hindus, while if one such incidence would ever occur in a Muslim country, the result would be an immediate expulsion of the missionary from that nation. Another trick that has been done is that missionaries, while treating the sick, will give medicine of no value and ask the tribal to take it while offering prayers to his local deity. Naturally, no cure of disease is likely to occur with the useless medicine. Then the missionary gives the tribal real medicine and asks the tribal to take it while offering prayers to Jesus. Then when there is a recovery, it is attributed to the power of Christ and not to the medicine. Such conversion activities take place these days more often in the tribal areas under the guise of social service. However, true social service should be done without expecting anything in return, including conversion. Another thing that takes place is mass healings at meetings similar to revivals. What they do is pay people to attend the healings portraying themselves as being sick, or invalids on crutches, etc., who then get called up and are miraculously cured of their disease. This is attributed to the power of Christ, which then convinces many tribals that they too can benefit in various ways if they become Christian. This has not had much of an effect amongst the Brahmin classes, but the lower classes who attend are more vulnerable and are impressed by such things, and are then swayed toward Christianity. This is why Christian conversion tactics have been focused more toward the tribal areas than other regions of India. So these conversions are not
