Read p187 of the documentation: There are two different versions of the addPage() method. You can add blank pages if you use a Rectangle and a rotation value as parameters, or you can add a PdfImportedPage obtained from the same PdfCopy instance using getImportedPage(). [iText-questions] Copy a image from one PDF to another.
Hi! I'm trying to copy a couple of images from one pdf-document to another. I've managed to extract the images from the source document, however I can't seem to find a couple of attributes I need before I can paste them in my destination document. The code I have to extract the images is: PdfReader pdf = new PdfReader(sourcePdf, password); for (int pageNumber = 1; pageNumber = pdf.NumberOfPages; pageNumber++) { PdfDictionary pg = pdf.GetPageN(pageNumber); PdfObject obj = FindImageInPDFDictionary(pg); if (obj != null) { int XrefIndex = Convert.ToInt32(((PRIndirectReference)obj).Number.ToString(System.Globalization.CultureInfo.InvariantCulture)); PdfObject pdfObj = pdf.GetPdfObject(XrefIndex); PdfStream pdfStrem = (PdfStream)pdfObj; PdfDictionary tg = (PdfDictionary)PdfReader.GetPdfObject(pdfObj); PdfName type = (PdfName)PdfReader.GetPdfObject(tg.Get(PdfName.SUBTYPE)); } } The attributes I'm missing and can't seem to find with either pdfStrem or pdfObj is the objects location inside the source document. I'm also having trouble with the size of the image. pdfStrem.Get(PdfName.HEIGHT) returns the height of the image, sure. But it's the height of the image before it's been scaled down/up in Acrobat. Re: [iText-questions] Copy a image from one PDF to another.
http://api.itextpdf.com/com/itextpdf/text/pdf/parser/ImageRenderInfo.htm l The lower left corner should be the value returned by getStartPoint(), and the actual scale of the image will be defined in the Matrix returned by getImageMatrix(). For an unrotated image, you just need I11 and I22. But when I12 and I21 contain values, you need to do some Math. Eek. float rotatedXScale = sqrt(matrix.get(Matrix.I11)^2 + matrix.get(Matrix.I12)^2); float rotatedYScale = sqrt(matrix.get(Matrix.I21)^2 + matrix.get(Matrix.I22)^2); Yes, this is computing the hypotenuse from the length of two sides. In a PDF, images start of as a 1pt x 1pt box and are then scaled up to whatever size is desired... so the matrix 50 0 0 100 0 0 will produce a 50x100 point image on the page regardless of what that image's size might be. Note that rotation will rotate around getStartPoint IIRC. Fun with geometry matrix math. Yay... and if you want an actual Bounding Box, you'll need to do More Math. The AffineTransform class can handle at least some of it for you. I'm surprised ImageRenderInfo doesn't use it directly rather than wrapping getDeterminant() will work too, but only if the image has been scaled proportionately, and there's no way to know that without figuring out the width height widths and comparing them to the original image height/width. And because sqrt(x)/sqrt(y) != x/y, you can't just skip the sqrt... but I'm being kind of an efficiency nazi in trying to avoid it anyway. Next to sucking up a PDF from some stream, parsing it, and copying some image data out of it, a couple sqrt()'s is quite trivial. --Mark Storer Senior Software Engineer Cardiff.com import legalese.Disclaimer; DisclaimerCardiff DisCard = null; From: Patrik Sandberg [mailto:adb8s...@hotmail.com] Sent: Thursday, November 04, 2010 7:09 AM To: itext-questions@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [iText-questions] Copy a image from one PDF to another. [iText-questions] Enabling comments in iText?
Hi, I am using the java itext software to generate a pdf file using the following abbreviated command. java -cp itext.jar ...PhotoAlbum filename.pdf My question is that I want to be able to add comments to the pdf once I open the file. Is there an additional option I can pass to the command line for enabling comments? Thanks -- The Next 800 Companies to Lead America's Growth: New Video Whitepaper David G.
