Were you running the stock Edgy kernel? Our attempt to compile ends
with the botched videodev2.h header mentioned earlier in this thread,
and using -I's to force the use of /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.17-11
appears to have no effect.

I think the next step will be to move everything to 2.6.19 and try
with the headers there, but if I can stay on a stock Edgy kernel that
would be easier.

Re: [ivtv-devel] [ANNOUNCEMENT]: Updated xdriver available for testing

2007-04-05 Thread Miles Lott

That's exactly the kernel I was using, and it was a custom compile just
to get up to the current ivtv driver. The machine has since died and I
haven't taken the time to recover it. But that has nothing to do with
ivtv.

I'm impressed. Recent Gentoo with Xorg 7.1.1, gcc 4.1.1 and kernel
2.6.20. ivtv version 0.10.0. The slow menu is gone and goom runs faster
as I've ever seen. Thank you, John. Great work. Had to update linux
headers to 2.6.20 because of problems with videodev2.h.

Re: [ivtv-devel] [ANNOUNCEMENT]: Updated xdriver available for testing

2007-02-17 Thread Miles Lott
I compiled this today on Ubuntu Edgy on an old Celeron I use as a Mythtv
frontend. Had to install most if not all of the x11proto-???-dev
packages and relink my kernel includes. However, it compiled just fine
at that point. Mythtv menus are no longer noticeably slow. You can't
see them drawing anymore. So, this seems to definitely be worth the
effort at this point. I will do some more testing with actually
watching video later this weekend. I also have the new release version
of the modules running.

Thanks, guys.

 Hi all,

Just before John Harvey went on vacation he delivered a first Xdriver
version that supports Xorg 7.x (as well as older Xorg/Xfee86 servers).

 It's available for download here:

 http://ivtvdriver.org/viewcvs/xdriver/trunk.tar.gz?view=tar

It's only been tested against 7.1 servers so any feedback is welcome.
Next weekend, when John is back from his vacation, he will start on any
remaining issues (including merging some pending patches from Ian
Armstrong) and his aim is to get a full release out in the next 3-4
 weeks.

According to John the performance of this new Xdriver has been improved
 significantly.

So please test and post any problems on this list!
