Choose your Accent as the 'primary' voice profile. It should then be the
JAWS default synth. Is that what you want?

I am reasonably certain that if I changed the default synth to Eloquence,
that I could lock and unlock the computer without the synth reverting to
the Accent.

I am just frustrated that this behavior was not happening before. The
default synth is the Accent and has always been the Accent. Why was it
not reverting after unlocking before, but is now? That's really the
question I would like to get answered. Sadly, I think it is one of those
things that will never get answered.

Re: [JAWS-Users] question about the cleanup function in juice

2008-11-14 Thread Flor Lynch
Hi,

This is your third time sending this message. I replied to it the first
time, on Wednesday morning. Here, again, is my reply, and it will be the
same reply to your same question.

yes, you are. You need to choose to unsubscribe by deleting or removing an
actual subscription. If you didn't do such a thing, you are still
subscribed. As long as your podcast feeds are mentioned in the subscription
tab control, you can investigate how many episodes there are to download or
already downloaded (that is, removed or skipped) by tabbing into the list
view there. Removing from the library as well as the downloads folder is
quite normal, indeed I think it's the default.

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws silent install

2008-11-14 Thread Jeremiah Z. Rogers
To install JAWS silently, use the /type switch with the parameter silent.

j10.0.512.exe /type silent

To learn more about other options for silent installs, use the /morehelp
option.

To remove JAWS silently, add /type silentremoveshared to the uninstall
path under the uninstall JAWS shortcut in the start menu.

I use the silent install and uninstall very often, and they're very
dependable. Also, and very commendably on the part of FS, both packages
report succinct, yet detailed, status information to the applications log,
allowing you to check whether or not they did what they were supposed to do.
Good luck. Finally, to the moderators, I wouldn't post this info to the tips
'n tricks page, as it is a bit less detailed than it should be, and most
folks who'd want a silent install will be able to find what they need
without looking there. I think posting this info would cause more harm than
benefit.

You will have a learning curve as you figure out how to access the ribbon

I am very happy with both JAWS and Office 2009.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws 10 and Anytime Organizer

2008-11-14 Thread BDM

Hello.

I am a long time user of Individual Software's Anytime Deluxe and find Jaws
10 is not supporting it or allowing it to speak at all. I find it much
easier than MS Outlook plus Anytime has features Outlook does not have so
I'd like to find a way to continue. I saw an archive on this topic
regarding V7 of Anytime regarding copying and pasting scripts. Do any of
you have scripts for Anytime? I do not believe I do. I've searched the
Settings/Enu areas but do not see any ATW files in Jaws folders at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thank you very much. I've read the help information and I even managed to
create an answer file and to change some installation settings. Let me ask
the question another way. Can I make .cab file and use NLite to build it in
a windows unattended installation? And most important is, how to make this
.cab file? It would be very helpful for a blind person to have jaws
installed automatically with windows.

Thanks. Yes I know but was wondering if, or where I can find them and can I
paste them in the program files somewhere to tweak it to work regardless. I
have a few older versions of Jaws yet on my computer.

Hi Again,

After further review this dictionary is not real Jaws friendly. It worked
well the first time, but not after that. Give it a try though, maybe you
all will have better luck. Take care.

2007, press the jaws key with v,
there you can change your say all options, also for send receive, just push
control, alt, plus s and you should be presented with the dialog box to
schedule how often you want messages downloaded. Hope this helps.

was playing around with real tech audio manager, and lost all my sound.
a sighted friend got my sound back for me.
now the questions below.
well, got my sound and jaws back, but was not able to use the updatte
feature, as i had uninstalled jaws 10.
now, had to download it, and got jaws 9.0 as well.
but when my system starts and jaws starts, instead of loading version 10, it
is still loading version 9.
so how can i make version 10 the default on my windows vista system.
tried looking in default programs and setting defaults, but cannot find any
thing.
is uninstalling version 9, would this fix this problem.
or tried loading jaws 10, from the desk top and the programs folder, but
refusing to go to version 10 and had a look at the version number.
still version 9.
really strange, after the real tech audio manager software, was blocking all
sound and speech.
anyone had this problem before in windows vista and how to fix this one.
cheers Marvin.

Re: [JAWS-Users] stand alone refreshable Braille displays

2008-11-14 Thread Mark

Hi Kathy,
Unfortunately, the last time I looked at refreshable brail displays
they were running in the $6,000 to $12,000 range. This was a few years back
but it was more then I had to spend. So, I have had to stick it out with
JAWS for windows on voice. I hope that brail displays have come down in
price.

God bless,
Mark

To launch JAWS 10 when you turn on your computer, access the Basics dialog
in the JAWS 10 Options menu, tab to Automatically Start JAWS check box and
check it. Then uncheck the corresponding check box in JAWS 9.

Re: [JAWS-Users] stand alone refreshable Braille displays

2008-11-14 Thread ahmed alomran

dear Kathy
as you aware, there are several options of Braille displays available in the
market. I used to have Brilliant 24 from humanware and I am currently
using Braille focus 40 from freedom scientific. in fact, despite the grate
features of Brilliant Braille 24 such as its compact size, light weight and
bluetooth connectivity, I found the Braille focus more compatible with jaws
in terms of the usage of the various function keys of the focus that can be
used to inter commands. these keys can also be used as input Braille keys.
another grate feature of the focus is the availability of the wiz wheels and
the two thumb keys which facilitate your reading task and make it more
confortable. as far as I concern, I believe that if you want to carry the
display with you every day to your work the brilliant range of Braille
displays might be your choice. however, if you want to type Braille by using
the input Braille keys and leave the display at home always connected to
your PC then the focus might be your choice.

kind regards.
Ahmed.

Hi Marvin,
Try this.
Load Jaws 10 after you exit Jaws 9.
Go in to basic settings and then the settings for starting Jaws
automatically.

Under the combo box where you specify when Jaws starts for your account
select always.
Hopefully that will fix the problem.

I think posting this info would cause more harm than
benefit.

Does someone know and is able to explain in a simple way, how can one create

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws silent install

2008-11-14 Thread aiden gardiner
it's useful for network administrators, you see, when you have a server in a
corprat environment, audio is not enabled on the server, nor is it enabled
on any windows server operating system by default, so to avoid unnecessary
system resource consumption, the admin just uses the silent install.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Another very Jaws friendly dictionary

2008-11-14 Thread Flor Lynch
Mike,

I looked up the word 'sinecure' there, and a link in one of the definitions
wwas a word that would cause a moderator's warning here! How about
www.dictionary.com/
which is, in fact, a good-quality dictionary. And the price is right, too.

Hi All,

I came across this very Jaws friendly dictionary, the website is below.

www.urbandictionary.com

This dictionary gives much more information and better definitions for each
word being looked up than Ninja Dictionary. Have a great weekend.

Hi Flor,

Thank you very much for the dictionary.com info. I too noticed that the
definitions on that other website could be rather colorful to say the least.
Take care and have a great weekend.

hi donnie
when you have outlook open use Jaws key +V to get into the verbosity menue.
once there scroll thru the options to turn on this message for announcing
top and buttom of a page.
You may have accidently turned it off sometime, while making changes in
there.
regards
chrissy

While using Outlook 2000 I used to be able to hear a sound when I hit the
top or the bottom of an
email. I am not hearing that sound anymore. Could someone please tell me
 how to get it back?

 Thanks,
 Donnie
