Re: [JAWS-Users] word 2016
Hello Kevin, Yes, it is the protected mode which is preventing you from reading the document. To remove the protected mode on a per document basis: 1. Open the document that is in protected mode and when you hear JAWS announce this document is in protected mode press the f6 key on your keyboard. You should now hear the same message again now tab to and press the spacebar or enter on the begin editing button. Hope that helps On 1/10/16, Kevinwrote: > I’m using windows 10, jaws 17 and word 2016 > I have a word document that opens in protected mode and I can’t seem to read > any text. jaws keeps announceing ‘blank’ > is the protected mode preventing me to read the document, if it is how can I > remove protected mode? > Email is golden!!! > Kevin Lee > For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: > http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

It has buffers for followers, friends, and you can create a buffer for each person's timeline you are following or is following you. Re: [JAWS-Users] rip CD
to get it on your phone, you have to use iTunes. You can select music on your computer, then copy to clipboard, and paste it into the iTunes folder typically located in your “my music” folder on your computer. If iTunes is not installed on your computer, then you would have to get it first and install it. Of course, you could do the iCloud route bypassing install of iTunes, and look inside the music app on phone and select think it is match or something to that affect. I don’t use this method, so am bit fuzzy on how to do it. I use iTunes. On Jan 10, 2016, at 8:06 PM, LeDon Beckerwrote: How can I rip a CD and put it on a jump drive or on my phone? Any ideas? Haven't read the rest of the messages in this thread, but I had this problem, and here is what it could be. Go into control panel and check the date, and make sure it's today's date. If it is not, change it to today's date. Then you want someone to change the battery on the mother board. When you do a shut down and then a start up, your computer comes on by way of the quick start feature in w-10. There are no windows sounds because you are not starting your system from a cold start. You are starting your system from a w-10 image file that was saved when you shut down your computer. This allows your computer to start up in about 10 seconds. This is one of the advantages of w-10, it's quick start up time. Yes, if you disable the quick start, you will get the traditional windows start up sounds. Because at that point you will be doing a cold start up, then your wait time will be any where from 30 to 60 seconds, depending on your computer. The new w-10 quick start is a combination of the Hibernation mode and sleep modes combined. I have used this quick start for about five months now, no negative impact on Jaws at all. Your computer is shut down, no heat or activity at all from your tower. Simply press the power button to quick start your w-10 computer. Your computer resumes in about 10 seconds, you are on the password or pin log-in screen. So, just to repeat, using the quick start in w-10 does not negatively impact Jaws. You are just quickly starting up your w-10 computer. By turning off the quick start feature in w-10. You will have a much longer start up time, and yes, the windows start up sounds will be heard. So, finally, this is a personal preference, no right or wrong way to have the quick start on or off in w-10. Personally, I have always used the w-10 quick start, this is a great time saver when you wish to quickly get on your computer. Again, this quick start feature does not impact Jaws in the least. The only thing you get by turning quick start off is a longer start up time, and the windows sounds. So, I hope this helps you to understand the w-10 quick start feature a little better. Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows 10 Startup Sounds
hello; well, there is a registry tweak you can perform for windows 8, so I would assume that it also may work for windows 10. I will post a link with steps, however, I caution folks to be careful, and to backup registry before doing any change. How To Customize Windows 8 Shutdown, Logon and Logoff Sounds Windows 7 and previous versions let you easily customize the sounds played when you Logon, Logoff or Shutdown your computer. You can still do it in Windows 8, but these and other sound alerts are hidden by default. But with a simple Registry tweak, you can get them back, and customize them to your liking. Here you can see that Windows Logon, Logoff and Shutdown Program Events aren’t listed in Sounds. After the Registry hack, you’ll see a lot more options listed. Registry Hack for Sound Events Note: Before doing any Registry tweaking, make sure you Back it Up First! First use the Keyboard shortcut Windows Key+R to bring up the Run line and type: regedit and hit Enter. Registry Editor opens up and you need to go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels under EventLabels you’ll see a list of subfolders for different sound events for Windows 8. Registry Editor Scroll down the list and click WindowsLogOff. In the right pane, you’ll see the key ExludeFromCPL. Double click on it and change the value to 0 and click OK. so if you're a jaws user, you need to first find the WindowsLogOff now tab one time you're in a list of 3 items, arrow down you will see/hear, ExludeFromCPL press enter, notice the value is set to 1, backspace, and type 0 now tab okay press enter. WindowsLogon ExludeFromCPL Repeat the exact same steps for the SystemExit and WindowsLogoff subfolders. In the end, SystemExit, WindowsLogoff and Windows Logon subfolder ExludeFromCPL key values will each be set to 0. When you’re done, close out of Registry Editor. SystemExit Customize Logoff, Logon and Shutdown Sounds Now from the Desktop, right click the Sound icon on the Taskbar and select Sounds. Or hit Windows Key + W to bring up Setting Search and type: sounds. Settings Search Then select Change System Sounds under the search results. Change System Sounds Now you’ll see the entries in the Program Events list, and can customize them like you would in previous versions of Windows. Sounds You can use this Registry tweak for other sounds that aren’t listed in Program Events too. If you like to customize every aspect of Windows 8, now you can – have fun! http://www.groovypost.com/howto/customize-windows-8-shutdown-logon-logoff-sounds/ -Original Message- From: Kurt Miller Sent: Sunday, January 10, 2016 8:55 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows 10 Startup Sounds George, I'm sure that the sarcasm didn't help answer his question. It will install a toolbar, though. However, you are prompted whether or not to enable it the first time you open your browser or, at least, this happened first time I opened IE 11 after installation. Also, the installation is absolutely not blind-friendly--I'm a highly experienced JAWS user and former FS employee and I had to have my sighted wife help me with the installation because absolutely nothing spoke during that process. Like I said, I wish I'd never have heard of this program because every time I open a document--even a single-page document--JAWS stops speaking. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mario Sent: Sunday, January 10, 2016 10:28 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] acrobat reader if no one has said, for reader 11, that is the file name that is the installer. it is not a toolbar. And if what you want is Adobe Reader DC, be aware that it does not work very well with JAWS. I installed it and wish I hadn't. Also, it is no longer free after the initial 30-day trial. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mike B Sent: Sunday, January 10, 2016 12:31 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] acrobat reader Hi Again Kevin, What is it you want to download? Adobe XI or, Adobe Reader DC? Adobe Reader DC is the latest version of Adobe Reader, & for lack of a better explanation, it's a cloud version of Adobe Reader. If it's Adobe Reader DC you want, I can send you a Dropbox download link for it. Take care. Mike For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] acrobat reader
Hi Walt, I've had it installed for a lot longer than 30 days & it still works just fine. The install went smooth with Jaws reporting the progress throughout the installation. I went into preferences after the installation & made the same adjustments as I did in Adobe XI & it works just fine with any PDF file i have saved. I've only had to access a couple of on line PDF files & was able to read them just fine as well. I'm running Jaws 15 thru 17, Windows 7 Pro, & IE10. Take care. Mike Global warming?
