all of a sudden my McAfee web ad visor is missing in internet explorer 
11 again, is there any way that I can get it back without re downloading 
it again?

I am using windows 8.1  on a 64 bit machine with Jaws 15

Hi

If you're referring to Dectalk Access32, the version from Freedom Scientific
will run on any Version of JAWS, but only if it is run on Windows XP or
lower.  Unfortunately, Dectalk Access32 cannot be successfully used on
Windows Vista, 7 or 8 and I assume Windows 10.  So Dectalk Access32 can be
used on JAWS 15 and earlier on Windows XP.  But it cannot be used with JAWS
16 or later since they can't be installed on Windows XP.  To use Dectalk
Access32 from Freedom Scientific you had to pay for an upgrade to your JAWS
license.  There also used to be a version of Dectalk Access32 from GW Micro,
but I believe JAWS  stopped supporting that version in JAWS 11 or 12.

You can create a hotkey and use the old "alt+control+ "J" as follows.
1. Go to the Jaws17 short cut on your Desktop ( Windows Key +"D" then
Control+Home)).   
2. When focused on the Jaws17 shortcut icon, press your Application Key and
up arrow to properties and press enter.
3. tab over to short cut / hotkey and enter the key combination you want.You
will need administrator approval which if you are on a home machine is you.
4. Press enter and try it out.

Interestingly enough I am experiencing the same problem on my Windows 10
computer that I upgraded from Windows 7.  I have another computer still
using Windows 7 and the shortcut or hot key for Jaws still works.  Below is
a work around I got from another list.

1.   Do a windows+M key to go to the desktop
2.   Hit the home key to go to the first icon on your desktop.
3.   Hit the letter J and you should be on Jaws 16 if you have it
installed. If not then you should be on Jaws 17 if you do not have any other
icon starting with j. If you have Jaws 16 and Jaws 17 loaded then hit the j
twice to get to Jaws 17.
4.   Hit enter key and Jaws will load.

use Control+Alt+j it wouldn't work. I did wait for several seconds and
nothing happened. I tried using the hot key again a few times and nothing.

 

I went to see if the hot key was still there and it's there. I've turned off
the computer and also restarted it but the hot key still doesn't work. If I
try to delete the hot key and re-enter it, for some reason I'm taken off the
JAWS screen and taken to the Desktop and I have to go back to JAWS in the
taskbar and no matter if I try and re-enter the hot key again, it still
takes me to the Desktop.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions for me please?

I am having the same problem on my Windows 7 machine. The alt plus J has 
always worked but it no longer works. It is still there in the properties 
shortcut tab but it doesn't work. I have reset it several times but no go. 
I also have Jaws on the same machine with a shortcut key "F" and it works.

lower.  Unfortunately, Dectalk Access32 cannot be successfully used on
Windows Vista, 7 or 8 and I assume Windows 10.  So Dectalk Access32 can be
used on JAWS 15 and earlier on Windows XP.  But it cannot be used with JAWS
16 or later since they can't be installed on Windows XP.  To use Dectalk
Access32 from Freedom Scientific you had to pay for an upgrade to your JAWS
license.  There also used to be a version of Dectalk Access32 from GW Micro,
but I believe JAWS  stopped supporting that version in JAWS 11 or 12.

When JAWS is running from the system tray, when you're using the desktop 
keyboard layout, pressing JAWSkey+j will bring up the JAWS menus.  But in the 
laptop keyboard layout, where CapsLock is usually the JAWSkey, pressing 
JAWSkey+j  will move back to the prior word instead of bringing up the JAWS 
menus.  You can use insert+j to bring up the JAWS menus no matter which 
keyboard layout you're using, even though pressing those 2 keys together can be 
awkward on some computers.  Also in the laptop keyboard layout pressing 
control+shift+CapsLock+j will bring up the JAWS menus.  When you change the run 
JAWS from the system tray setting, JAWS must be restarted before it takes 
effect.

I went to jaws and pressed alt,  O for options and then I went to basics then I 
checked the box to run jaws from the system tray. Now I don’t know how to get 
jaws back so I can press alt, O to go to options again. And by the way, when I 
look in the system tray jaws is not listed there? So, how do I call jaws?  I 
thought that if I pressed the jaws key and the letter, J, that would call jaws

Hi all,

wondering if anyone can tell me how to access and change the two read 
only fields on the below site?


Running jaws 17 latest build and have tried with IE and firefox.
With sight you can for instance put that you were in a job from April 
2015 to February 2016.


From what I understand a calendar can be accessed and you select the 
start and end date.


Any assistance is appreciated.

Is that what you are seeing. Or, is it something with my jaws on my computer. I 
suspect that I might have something funny going on. Sometimes whin I type a 
capital letter, I get a tone and a space after the letter typed. I have to 
restart the computer to get the system back to normal. Does any of this, make 
sence?

So while typing away doing this and that on my business desktop, I must have
been too fast and sloppy because now, I seem to have enabled some sort of
touch mode for a tablet PC and Jaws. Naturally, the famous search for
command feature that was introduced in one of the recent Jaws updates isn’t
giving me any results no matter what I type. Poking around the Jaws help
files isnt’ giving me anything either. I have to imagine it’s a toggle
keystroke, but so far, I haven’t found it. The closeest I’ve come to is
insert+shift+semi-colin for the touch cursor which doesn’t’ get me out of
this mode.

I’m banging  out this email on my personal laptop, but I need to be able to
work with my business machine. I thought I’d shoot an email to folks with
more experience with the touch interface of Jaws while I continue my search
for a solution.

Hi,
In the newest update of JAWS 17, I notice that if my caps lock is on, JAWS 
will beep when I type a capital letter, because the caps lock is on. When I 
turn the caps lock off, Then I can type the capital letter, and JAWS does 
not beep. Maybe that is what is going on with you. Have a great one.

I am using W10, jaws 16 and outlook 2010 and would like to know how to replace 
internet explorer icon on the desktop.  When I press the letter" I" on the 
desktop I just get a ding sound instead of jaws saying internet explorer.  I 
have checked tools and options for my correct home page several times and it is 
correct.  Will appreciate any suggestions.

Why not just hit the windows key which opens the search menu, then type in and 
internet explorer pops up and hit enter on it. This is what I do

Thanks for the message, I remain unable to see the vocalizer voice in the
voice profile section. I did a repair on the Vocalizer installation and did
a modification of same, installing the American english voice, with no joy.
Do you have any other suggestions?

Any time you install a new voice profile into JAWS, JAWS must be restarted
before the new profile shows up.  So when you pressed enter on the Vocalizer
voice, if it told you that the voice was installed successfully, the
Vocalizer voice profile should automatically show up.  So try restarting
JAWS or rebooting to see if the Vocalizer profile is there.  To change the
pitch for a voice profile, you have to change it for each of the JAWS voices
individually.  So go to the JAWS main menu, options, voices and then voice
adjustment.  Find the voice profile you want to change the profile for.
Then tab until you get to the combo box that says adjust all contexts.  Then
down arrow to each of the different individual voices, such as the PC
cursor, JAWS cursor, etc.  Tab until you get to pitch and set it to what you
want.  Then you can back tab to the adjust combo box and arrow down to the
next voice.

I'm using Jaws 16 on my new laptop. When I installed Jaws from a download
the only voices included were Eloquence and Sappy 5. I downloaded a
vocalizer voice from the FS site and I guess I didn't install it correctly
because I can't find it in the voice profile dialogue. After I downloaded
the vocalizer voice, I just hit enter on the file and I thought that would
install it. Would someone please help me figure out where I went wrong so I
can use the new voice? Also, where do I find pitch adjustment?

to put IE11 icon to your desktop, do the following.
Press windows key, then press letter I for IE11 now press application key & go 
to open file location hit enter over there.
Here press application key & go to sent to sub menue here press right arrow  
now keep pressing down arrow until you find create desktop shortcut!
