[JAWS-Users] feature to change how long jaws freezes for.

2017-03-03 Thread Adam Morris

Hi all,

I've heard that in jaws 18 in the latest release there is a feature
that's not documented where in the dot ini file you can change how long
Jaws stays silent before restarting.

Has anyone heard about this and how to change it?

From what I can tell, it does a brilliant job of scanning. I'm using a
Cannoscan. I think that's what they're called. The small portable scanner.

Of course my luck, I just got around to upgrading to Kurzweil1000 14 last

Anyway, for those who have downloaded it, can they comment on accuracy or if
scans are comparable to K1000?

Also, does this app work with Jaws unlike K1000 where you have to switch
between programs and keyboard commands?

If it takes away the step of switching between programs and keyboard
commands, I may still be interested.

It’s on sale for $20.00 for the next couple of days. Whereas the regular
price seems to be $100.00 like the iOS app

I'm wondering if you can set the default voice from Narrator to Jaws

as I can tel. Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] C Cleaner Inquiry

2017-03-03 Thread Scorpio
Another work around, is to check the heading of each section. This will
cause all of the checkboxes to be checked, so that when you come across them
as you go through each of the items, the item will be checked by default, so
all you have to do is uncheck them.

I should also note that this method also forces the checkboxes to show, so
no having to worry about the checkboxes being invisible anymore.

Hope this helps.

I just took a quick look at the page without testing it. Here's how I handle
such situations. Instead of pressing enter by itself when clicking on a link

new window. When you're done, just close that window with alt-F4. You'll be
returned to the window with the original list.

I hope this method works in this case.

When I try looking at the desktop with the Jaws cursor, it will say
something like this:

What is this and why can't the Jaws cursor properly see the desktop? Oh yeah
and when you try to right click something in the system tray when the Jaws
cursor is acting up, it doesn't work. Only way I've found to fix this is to
completely restart the computer. Restarting Jaws has no effect.

Mike,

I find that list box useful. There are some types of data I want to retain,
such as passwords. I go down the list item by item to make sure anything I
want to preserve won't be deleted. Unfortunately, at least on my system,
JAWS doesn’t verbalize whether an item is checked or not until I press the
spacebar. After that, the checked/unchecked status of that item will be
shown throughout that session. However, JAWS still fails to verbalize this
detail for the other items until I go through the same process item by item.

The reason it would be useful for JAWS to verbalize the status of each item
in the list is that CCleaner doesn't check everything by default. For
example, the default for passwords is unchecked. So, chances are when
CCleaner runs, it won't delete items you want to keep. But you never know.
I'd discourage anyone from running the clean function until they've gone
through that list and made sure only items they want removed are checked.

Try just going to the previous page with Alt-LeftArrow.

BTW, You don't need Winrar, you could use 7-Zip instead, that handles .rar

Re: [JAWS-Users] C Cleaner Inquiry

2017-03-03 Thread Adrian Spratt
I appreciate the thought. However, I just followed these steps, and the result
is a much worse problem. Now, when I arrow up or down the list of items to
check or uncheck, only one item is verbalized at a time. I have to arrow down,
tab once, shift-tab back to the list to hear the next item. Moreover, I can't
change the status of any checkbox.

I tried to undo this operation by deleting the new window class, but it hasn't
changed the behavior. I also uninstalled and reinstalled CCleaner, but the
behavior stays the same.

Any suggestions for how I can undo the impact of this operation?

the steps are explained clearly, don't mess with it!!

I went straight to the source, and the reply was:
All commercial scripts were haulted in December. I couldn't keep up with all
the program changes and spotify was the worst to keep up with. Good Luck.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] FW: blindspot for Spotify

I hope the moderators won't mind my posting this short item from Chris H, a
well-informed tech person, on another list. So far, it's the best answer
I've found to this list's current Spotify thread. The question he answers is
also shown. I don't know how Las.fm compares to Spotify.

Hi
no you can't, after playing with the latest stable release briefly I was far
from impressed, so much so i decided to re-visit Last.fm, glad I did and
sure don't regret subscribing either. Also cancelled my Spotify
subscription.

Regards Chris
