Re: [JAWS-Users] gold wave scripts
Hi Scorpio, Okay, this is what you said, "they don't actually belong in any one place on your computer." So, if they don't belong any place in particular, what am I missing? I'm under the impression that if a particular program, as i suggested with CCleaner, needs the particular .INI file, that .INI file should reside in that particular program's folder whether that program is in Program Files or Program Files X86 on the root of the operating system drive. As I stated earlier, I'm not trying to argue with anyone but, it sounds like a .INI file serves more than 1 purpose depending on what that purpose might be. Is this a fair assumption? Thanks much. I do know, however, that the C-Cleaner program will coded to look for the initialization file within the C-Cleaner folder. Not sure if that's in the Program files, Application Data, or somewhere else on your C drive, but yes, each program is coded/written to look for specific files it uses in it's own directory, and not, for example in your documents folder. Re: [JAWS-Users] speech engines
Hi, if you are using any version of JAWS higher than 15, then you can use vocalizer Express. It is easy to download and install. You have a choice of the higher quallity or the lower one. After you install it, go into the synth menu via JAWS option and select vocalizer Express, then you can set up rate, pitch etc. hth -Original Message- From: T. Hi Libby :D (O sorry, I meant Judy) :D I have not gone to that site, but what I can think off hand, you can try to personalize that site by using JAWS personalize webpage command.. Go on the site, press JAWS key +V In the find field, type personalize and the personalize webpage will come up. Enter on it. Then, change the refresh page as needed to do not refresh. Re: [JAWS-Users] Weather
I just now opened Google and typed the search term, "tomorrow's weather forecast." I could have said today's, or Wednesday's, or whatever. The first result doesn't help because the site uses bots, as google alerts me right away. The second result is for the Weather Channel, an IBM company. For my region, it gives an hour-by-hour weather report in a table form that is easily navigated using JAWS table commands. I'm impressed. If I were to jump on my soap box now, I'd ask why anyone would rely on the often broken Research It when google is so dependable. Re: [JAWS-Users] Blogs
I thought about responding to the original query (posted twice), but when I set up my website and blog, I did so with the aid of a paid service. Once it was set up, I could, and still can, do all the tasks I need done myself. That said, I've hired a reader to work one two-hour session a week to make sure that what I post is accurate in every respect, including formatting. I accept that visual appeal is an important consideration if you want to go mainstream. For the record, my website uses wordPress.com. So I can't honestly help anyone wishing to set up a blog, but I might be able to after the website has been created. This is why I decided against posting a reply, and I hoped someone else would have answers. The last thing an active list like this needs is lots of people saying, "Sorry, can't help." -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of J.Cyr Sent: Monday, March 27, 2017 12:59 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Blogs Dear Keith, My profound sympathies, I wrote several times in the past to this list on this subject but for some reason I could never understand all my messages on the topic were ignored. Hi Joy, I don't believe that your messages were ignored, or that members on this list are not helpful, it may have been simply a matter of folks that read your messages didn't have any answers for you. On any e-mail list, if you don't have a helpful response to a given question, than you simply don't respond. Re: [JAWS-Users] The Control and ALT keys, your best friend, part 3
Hi Adrian, all suggestions are welcomed. I was just trying to cover some things that were not previously covered. Yes, I like the part about editing a website before saving it to favorites, thanks for letting me know about that one. Yes, if you have existing place markers, make sure they are de-selected like you said, before adding a new one. This is why I like doing it this way with the lessons, that way we all can help each other do various tasks better. We can also show other ways of doing various things in windows with Jaws. Thanks for your feedback and for giving your suggestions. Smiles. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Adrian Spratt Sent: Sunday, March 26, 2017 11:22 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] The Control and ALT keys, your best friend, part 3 Jim, There are some points I didn't remember here, so thanks. I have two suggestions. First, concerning the steps for creating a favorite in IE, the website's or webpage's name is an edit field. I often change the name in this field, especially when I want the name to begin with a certain letter for future first-letter navigation. Second, as far as I can tell, each of your placemarker setting examples assumes no placemarkers have yet been set on a given page. When placemarkers have already been set on a page, the first field you land on after pressing control-shift-k lists them. To add a new one, be sure that none of these placemarker names is selected. To deselect, press control-spacebar. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of James Flusche Sent: Sunday, March 26, 2017 7:00 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] The Control and ALT keys, your best friend, part 3 Good afternoon Jaws Users list. Re: [JAWS-Users] irratating pop ups
You can stop jaws from seeing these using flexible web. As shown in the example these are generally shown in a frame. Using flexible web you can supress these by going into flexible and telling jaws not show these frames. There is some good stuff in flexible web but it does take some playing with. Check it out JawsKey + F2, scrole down to flexible web and give it a go. I just opened it up and gave it a read and checked the gold wave folder which BTW does not have any INI files at least not on my system. Now the text file can be moved to wherever your heart is content as it serves no purpose in the ENU folder. Thos are the facts at 6:31 A. M. -Original Message- From: Mike B. I'm not questioning your knowledge, it's just that I've always been told that, .INI, files were settings files & go into the programs folder. Thanks much. Take care. Mike Sent from my iBarstool. If I'm not mistaken the, .INI, file would go into the Goldwave folder that's either in the Program Files or Program Files X86 folders on the root of the C drive. Then, at the bottom is a TXT file that contains keystrokes. So, all the rest of the files would go into the ENU folder of your particular version of Jaws. If I'm wrong, would someone please jump in & correct me?! Take care. Mike Sent from my iBarstool. How do I install them? Do I just paste them into the enu folder for the jaws version I'd like to use? But, it's probably 1 of the least used / utilized, so it could be easily forgotten. If you go in there to make any changes there's also an edit field for each key label that you can actually change what the key label says as well. For example, by default when you press the spacebar Jaws reports, space, but if you typed, Señor Ferrin, into this edit field Jaws would say, Señor Ferrin, whenever you pressed the spacebar. I'll save this, but probably lose it somewhere. Really, it's just that I'm too old to remember how to do it from upgrade to upgrade. So why not have VFO simplify it and add this to the start-up wizard like the key echo setting. lucky1i...@gmail.com Faithfulness does not begin with large tasks-if it is not present in small things, it does not exist at all. I mute my spacebar, tab, alt, enter, up/down/left/right, escape, and many others that just clutter up my JAWS experience. However I've noticed that I always need to re-do these after a major JAWS update (e.g. from 11 to 12). Dave From: Dave Scrimenti Go to the default configuration manager. In keyboard options, go to the key labels tab. Find the keys you want to mute, and use the radio buttons to mute them. I always mute the tab key, which also mutes the alt+tab combination. Just as permanent changes to key echo has been placed in the wizard start-up under the help menu, why not also include how to mute keys, like the tab, enter, and escape keys, that many people choose to change, but who like me, forget how to do this?
