[JAWS-Users] Deleting blank lines in a doc

2017-10-02 Thread wayne smith
Hello great bank of ideas- I copied a long list of vocabulary from a website
into a MS Word 2010 document and there are multiple blank lines between each
word entry. I think there is a way to use, Find and Replace to delete
multiple blank lines but I do not remember how. Any thoughts will be a big
help.

Yeah, it's been out for probably four years from the website
Http://www.runasxp.com

I don't know if the whitestick site uses that same program, if it does, I
wonder if it is pirated. The RunAsXp site had a nominal charge for their
version of OE which I've used for the past three years.

Thought I would pass this on:

From Harry on another list:

Hi all,

From Tom Lorimers web site, whitestick.co.uk, he has outlook express
version 6, which works on windows 7, 8, and 10!!!

I did not know it is still around!!!

If you want to download it, go to the downloads web page at

http://www.whitestick.co.uk/download.html

I went there because my winamp, version 5.66, no longer works. The volume
is low, on everything winamp plays, and it is all the way up!

So, I went to Toms web page, and found outlook express 6 on the downloads
page!

There is all kinds of stuff on his downloads page!

Re: [JAWS-Users] next occurrence of a word in word

2017-10-02 Thread Adrian Spratt
Kimsan,

There's a long story behind that first sentence, and I'd love to know it.
Meanwhile, just to avoid confusion for anyone following this thread:

As Mike wrote, when you press JAWS key+f to search in an MS Word document, you
can repeat the search by pressing JAWS key+F3. Both are JAWS commands.
When you press control+f to search, there's more than one way to repeat the
search, and you've identified two of them. All these commands are Microsoft,
not JAWS.
With the JAWS search, you must type in the entire word. This has limitations.
For example, a search for "engine" won't bring up the plural, while a search
for "engines" won't bring up the singular. For a more exhaustive search, the MS
control-f command is needed.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Another issue with the latest JFW 18 update

2017-10-02 Thread Mauricio Molina
Since the subject is issues with the newest release of JAWS, I hope adding
Excel to the mix is okay. I use Excel for my check registry, and soon after
the newest release, JAWS would crash after a few minutes in the application
leaving me without speech. I used system restore and chose a date prior to
the JAWS update and Excel ran normally. I then installed the JAWS update
once again and the JAWS crash in Excel resumed after a few minutes in the
application. Suffice it to say that I performed another system restore and
will not update JAWS until a different release is made available.

Hello list,

I’m encountering an issue with the latest JFW 18 update and Outlook 2016.

I’m noticing when I’m either replying or forwarding a message, I’m having
trouble accessing the entire message field. Be it to delete certain sections
of the email like headers or signatures or text in general.

Also, if replying, the replied to text isn’t accessible by Jaws. I’ve tried
maximizing window, alt tab and then back and so on, but that part of the
message just doesn’t show up. This behavior isn’t consistent and is somewhat
hit or miss. But enough so that it’s quickly becoming annoying and
disruptive.

Between this and the bug where email addresses aren’t being announced by
Jaws in the to/cc/bcc fields, I’m finding this update of Jaws to be a dud
and am considering rolling back.

Is anyone else dealing with this odd issue?

Cheers. It wasn't a great joke but it was still kind of funny.

There used to be a talking jeopardy game for the old Apple 2 computer. Quite an
irony if we can't get an accessible one nowadays. Still, I always thought the
format of Jeopardy to be a bit too artificial even though the show is fun, so
Trivia Crack should suit me well.

When I get a chance to try it, I'll report on the Windows 10 app.

Hi Kimsan,

Is the keystroke you're looking for, Insert / Jaws key + F3? JAWSKey+F3
Searches the current screen or virtual document for the next instance of the
item you previously have used the JAWS Find dialog to locate.

Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

Hi,

When performing a word search in word, what was the keystroke or key to
press to locate the next occurrence of the word?

It's been talked about here before but stupid me, didn't save the answer.

That now in outlook-e-mails of 2016, the populated area of starting a

Hey everyone. I don't normally post requests like this, but hopefully this
is alright, and JAWS-related enough in the sense that I do want something
that will, obviously, work well with the screen-reader.

My girlfriend and I were just talking about games we could play. I have an
old braille monopoly board from probably around the late 70s, and we just
played a tense and nail-biting game. I always wanted a Trivial Pursuit game
with all the questions in braille and a tactile board, but as far as I know
that's never been a thing. We decided we both like trivia games, so I was
wondering if anyone here knows about any available for PC? I'm not
necessarily looking for something online, although I suppose that'd be fine
really - just something that the two of us can play here on nights we feel
like staying in. It should be something a sighted person can also easily
play, too, so although I do appreciate for example the RS Games site (no
trivia on there to my knowledge, but I bring it up because it's a
site/client especially geared toward blind players), something with a little
more screen feedback would be cool. I'm willing to shell out a few dollars
for this, but of course we don't need anything too fancy or elaborate - just
something with a good database of questions and answers.

What do you all think?

Re: [JAWS-Users] HeadPhone Jack and Sound Levels

2017-10-02 Thread Rick Justice
Hi Jerry,
If you are using the 3.5 audio jack on the computer for your headset,
then there will most likely not be a volume setting for it.
The volume seems louder because the sound is directly in your ear!
Typically plugging a headset into the 3.5 audio jack disconnects the
speakers and
re-directs the circuit to whatever is plugged into the audio jack.

HTH,
Rick Justice

Afternoon all.

I was wondering about something. When I have my laptop speakers operating, I
have the sound level at a comfortable level for me. However, when I plug in
my headphones, it ir REALLY loud. I know that the sndvol command brings up
the sound mixer. Can anyone tell me the way to adjust the headphone jack
sound level without adjusting the speaker output; or is it not possible. I
am running JAWS 17, and Windows 10 on a Dell laptop. Thanks in advance.

I thank you as well, it's just that something like that if it were under the
table so to speak could put us out of business. I really wasn't worried too
much as I didn't check my email since yesterday afternoon early. I know
there are good people on here and my team stay on top of things.

So what does this game do? Those games where you hit the arrow key depending
on where the sound comes out get old fast.
