Re: [JAWS-Users] Id a blank character

2017-11-15 Thread Brian Lee
Hi Ann Marie,

A nonbreaking space is used to keep text together. When used between two
words instead of a regular space the two words can be forced to be at the
beginning or end of the same line. Nonbreaking spaces can also be used to
produce different alignment of text on the same line. The code you would
enter on the number pad while holding down Alt key is 0160. You can enter a
nonbreaking space by holding down CTRL with shift keys and pressing
spacebar. The nonbreaking spaces should not be removed when replacing
paragraph marks with tabs. You don't want to replace nonbreaking spaces
with tabs because when converting to a table using tabs as column dividers
you will end up with unwanted columns and text that is meant to be together
in the same column being separated into different columns.

I went to the web site you sent me and I think I found a way to get the
information pasted with vertical bars dividing the columns. When pasted in
Word I think the text can then be converted into a table and the vertical
bars used as column dividers or they can be changed to tabs that can be used
as column dividers.

The site is quite difficult to navigate and copying information isn't really
a straightforward process. Perhaps you can send the link to this list and
see if someone else can offer a way to handle it. I will Email you
privately as well but I won't be able to spend time on this until later
tomorrow.

Take care.

I cannot seem to get the procedure you have after word instead.
There is a non breaking space code 160.
When I replace ^013 to ^t the non breaking 160 also changes to a tab.
Any possibility I can replace 160 with I believe is a page break then change
do 013 to tab?

Hi Ann Marie,

If you press number 5 on the number pad three times quickly when number lock
is off you get a numeric code for the current character. The code given is
13. However, you actually need to use 013. The 13 is the code initially
used as a carriage return. If you turn the number lock on, hold down Alt
and type 13 on the number pad followed by a space, you will likely get an
8th note. (♪). Instead you turn on the number lock, hold down Alt while
typing 013 and you get the paragraph mark.

If using 013 in a Find and Replace dialog box in Word you would need to put
a caret (shift on 6) before the numbers. However, using caret followed by a
lower case p does the same thing.

Take care.

Hi Ann Marie,

The character at the end of each line except the bottom line is a paragraph
mark. To replace it in Word you can use a caret (shift key with 6) followed
by a lower case p. In the Replace With box you can use caret mark followed
immediately by a lower case t. Use the Replace all to replace all paragraph
marks with tabs.

If there is more text in the document you might want to first select what
you want to replace before using the Replace dialog box.

If you copy the text with the paragraph marks each word will go on a
separate row in a column when pasted in Excel. If you have tabs instead of
the paragraph marks then text will be placed in cells of the same row.

Take care.

Hello, everyone.

I wanted to let you know that my Outlook 2016 address entry issue which was
causing Outlook to crash has been resolved, at least for now.

I worked with Corrie from FS Support, and they are aware of the issue.

The temporary work-around is to run Outlook in safe mode.

Here are the steps for doing this:

1. If you are in Outlook, close the program.

2. Then, press windows R to go to the run dialog prompt.

3. Type in outlook.exe followed by a space, and then /safe and hit enter.

4. Then, exit out of Outlook and go back again, and everything should
function normally.

I'm not totally sure what safe mode is, but Corrie said it has something to
do with eliminating add-ins that are active when Outlook is running
normally.

I also asked Corrie about the problem I'm having with being unable to
navigate entries in an Outlook e-mail group via the arrow keys, and he said
that FS is aware of that issue as well.

He indicated that we should all stand by for future Jaws updates that will
be aimed at correcting these issues.

do with eliminating add-ins that are active when Outlook is running
normally.

I also asked Corrie about the problem I'm having with being unable to
navigate entries in an Outlook e-mail group via the arrow keys, and he said
that FS is aware of that issue as well.

He indicated that we should all stand by for future Jaws updates that will
be aimed at correcting these issues.

I know these are not your steps, but after you press, Alt + V, from the
Layout tab to get to the Vertical Alignment combobox, Vertical is not an
option from the list. The Vertical Alignment combobox options are:
Top, Center, Justified, & Bottom.

Hello Tom,
Below are the directions from FS Training.
Cheers Kevin.
To center the text of the letter vertically on the page after you have typed

it, do the following:
.Press CTRL+HOME to move to the top of the document.
.Press ALT+P to move to the Page Layout tab of the ribbon.
.Press SP to access the Page Setup button. The Page Setup multi page
dialog box opens.
.Press CTRL+TAB until you move to the Layout tab of the dialog box.
.Press ALT+V to move to the Vertical Alignment combo box, and then
choose Vertical in the list.
.Finally, press ENTER twice to close combo box and the dialog box. Focus

returns to the document area, and the text is centered vertically on the
page.
NOTE: It is not necessary to center the text on the page if the letter is
more than one page in length.

Hi Brian,
I cannot seem to get the procedure you have after word instead.

Take care.

2017-11-15 Thread Mike B.
To add to what Adrian & John have posted:
I was reading a tutorial by David Bales at;

http://goo.gl/uu3XW

In this tutorial he talks about using the, Windows Key + Up Arrow keystroke
for maximizing windows. Apparently in Windows7 you can invoke this
keystroke on any window you want to maximize & Windows7 will maximize the
window & remember the setting so you don't have to maximize it again. This
maximize keystroke only maximizes the window during the current session of
the computer use. You can also use the keystroke, Windows Key + down arrow,
to restore the window. It won't remember the maximized window after a
reboot or restart. Hope this helps. Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook Crashing Issue When Entering E-mail Addresses Solved, at least for now

2017-11-15 Thread Miriam Vieni
Tom,

Thank goodness you posted those directions before. Earlier today, I turned
off my computer. Windows updates appeared automatically and I suddenly
discovered that I couldn't send any emails because every time I tried to
enter an address, Outlook crashed and Jaws stopped working. I just used
your directions and tried to enter an address and nothing crashed. So I'm
grateful. I don't understand what safe mode is or if Outlook will stay in
this mode if I turn off my computer, however.

Solved, at least for now

Hi John,

I know these are not your steps, but after you press, Alt + V, from the

option from the list. The Vertical Alignment combobox options are:
Top, Center, Justified, & Bottom.

2017-11-15 Thread Inam Uddin
Respected Marry, the matter of fact is that using windows 10 mail app is very
easy and handy.
It will not give you tough time as outlook 2016.
Another very important thing is that David wrote a very good tutorial using
windows 10 mail app.
You can use this app no matter what brouser you are using as your default
brouser.
This program will work with the composition of people and calendar apps.
In my opinion, you will not find any issue if you use it with JAWS 2018.

next thing to a newby. I'm interested in the use of the Windows 10 mail

that this mail app is apparently based on that engine, I am thinking
that it might not be all that great with JAWS until the underlying Edge
issues are fully solved. Is that true? I'd like to be wrong, as I
really don't think I need a mail app as complex as Outlook, which I
don't own in any case. Advice, please?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Starting Jaws automatically was turn off

Hi All,

I have two desktop computers running the latest Jaws 2018 and Windows 10. I
believe this happened since laste week some time. Both of my Jaws had the
automatically start Jaws at the log on screen uncheck. I had to go back into
both computers and re check this in the Jaws setup. Has anyone else had this
issue lately?

Mr. Ed

Hi,

I have a strange problem with Jaws 18 (latest version) 64-bit running on
Windows 10 when I use the command: - insert / spacebar / W. Prior to the last
Jaws update to Jaws 2018 when using the OCR command I could read the contents
of the open window I was on. Since loading the latest Jaws
2018 version, when I use the same OCR commands I get everything read back to me
including anything else that is sitting in the background and not an open
current window. In short, all I get is a whole lot of things being read out
instead of the screen I am focused on. Can anyone help to sort this out?

Bernard

Hi Bernard,
I am not sure what you are trying to do. The key stroke to turn on Jaws OCR
is insert + spacebar then the letter O then the letter D.

[JAWS-Users] Outlook Crashing Issue When Entering E-mail Addresses Solved, at least for now

2017-11-15 Thread Tom Behler

Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan
