Hi Holger,

Answers you were given are for quickly opening Volume Mixer, but they actually
don't change the volume.
In case your keyboard has no volume keys, JAWS provides two scripts,
IncreaseSystemVolume and DecreaseSystemVolume, that respectively raises or
lower the volume from any application, with no need to open any additional
window, and they announce the volume level to which you just set.
By default these scripts have no key assignment, but it is easy to map to a
convenient keystroke:
1. Press INSERT+J to open the JAWS window or context menu, depending on your
setting.
2. Press ALT+U to open the Utilities menu or sub-menu, depending on your
setting.
3. Press K to open Keyboard Manager.
4. When Keyboard Manager opens, press TAB to move to the right pane, that is,
the one containing key mappings of the file selected in the left pane, that
should be Default if you launched Keyboard Manager as I indicated. If you ran
Keyboard Manager in a different way, press CTRL+SHIFT+D to make sure you're
working in the Default file instead of the one specific for the application
from which you opened Keyboard Manager.
5. In the list view, find the script whose name is DecreaseSystemVolume. You'll
find that it is not assigned to any key.
6. Press CTRL+A to add a keystroke to this script.
7. Press the keystroke you want to use to lower the volume. In my desktop
computer I use CTRL+SCROLL LOCK+DOWN ARROW.
8. Press ENTER, and choose OK in the confirmation dialog which appears.
9. You'll be returned to the list view of scripts. Do the same with the
IncreaseSystemVolume script, which you could assign to CTRL+SCROLL LOCK+UP
ARROW.
10. Close Keyboard Manager with ALT+F4.

Advantages of this method are that volume is changed on the fly with no need to
change the application, and it works even when you are on the Windows Logon
screen. As a disadvantage, these keystrokes don't work when you aren't using
JAWS or when you are in a program in which you configured JAWS to be in Sleep
Mode.

Hope it helps!

[JAWS-Users] Stand alone Jaws accessible program on Windows 10 with Google Calendar integration?

2018-03-26 Thread Cristóbal
Hello list,

As the subject line states, I’m looking for a stand alone Jaws accessible
calendar with Google calendar integration. I do use Outlook and the outlook
calendar and while with some tinkering, you can import a Google calendar
into the Outlook calendar, you can’t do anything from within Outlook but
view appointments. I took a quick look at the built-in Windows 10 calendar
and wasn’t terribly convinced.

Anyone know of something that may work? That or can the built-in Windows 10
calendar app actually do this?

Thanks,

Cristobal

I prefer using windows key-tab. After you press that, you can left and right
arrow through all the open windows. Press enter on the one you want to
select it. If you want to close something as you're arrowing through, press
the application/menu key and arrow up to close and press enter.
As I remember, this also works in Windows 7, but it's been awhile. Smile.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] IE 11.30 and Favorites Inquiry

Morning all.
Using JAWS 2018, Windows 10 and IE 11.30, I noticed that some of my
favorites will not open when previously, they worked before. Could this be
due to an update to the Windows OS? Thanks.

I copy and paste all the time into FB. Perhaps some others can explain what
is occurring.

I am using JAWS 2018 and Windows 10 on a Dell laptop. Thanks.

Hello,
Yes you are looking for detect languages. If you turn this off by unchecking
it, you should stop getting those messages.

One antivirus will disable the other so both don’t run at the same time.

Hi Holger,

It's never recommended to run 2 different antivirus programs at the same
time. There's a high possibility they will get in each others way, or 1
could see the other as a virus.
Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

[JAWS-Users] x-unicode in thunderbird?

2018-03-26 Thread Adam Morris

Hi all,
Someone posted a way to stop Jaws saying
x-unicode and
x-western
when messages are open.
I'm using Jaws2018.
I thought it had something to do with a setting in Jaws for language.
Can someone please remind me?

TIA.
