Re: [JAWS-Users] Amazon and accessibility

2018-04-15 Thread Panagiotis Antonopoulos
Hi Judy/all,
Because I sent something similar to our group, I do not know if your
reference concerned my posting (a male in that case), but I never received a
reply and I have still problems with Amazon, being unable to access my
account from my new Lenovo computer, because they need verification, and the
purported code sent to my email address just never reaches me so that I can
continue. I also wrote to their helpdesk and received no reply so far. So, I
am really puzzled as it only happens with Amazon.
Greetings from Greece,
Takis

using it with Jaws on websites in general? I have notided this in the last

Go to the message list.

go to the very top of it with the home key.

enable touch cursor,

now go left until you hear select columns to display... button.

Press enter. This opens the menu allowing you to check and uncheck
columns.

If you want to rearrange the columns, go left past that button and you'll
find the header items like subject and the like. Find the one you want to
move,

press the keystroke to lock mouse button, with laptop layout that would be
shift caps lock num row 8. then left or right to the colum you'd like to
place

this before and press the mouse lock toggle again. Note that the columns
are
read in the same order regardless of their actual position when using
touch

cursor. You'll have to try to move it, then go back to pc cursor and
navigate the list of messages to see if you did it. If it fails, try
dragging other

columns around the one want to move instead and see if that works. It's a
bit messy but can be done with a little time and a big dose of patients.

Once you have a folder set up, you may want to assign that folder's column
view settings to all folders, this is available in that button that says
choose

which columns to display near the bottom says something like apply to
folder, you can apply it to your entire email account that way if you want
to.

[JAWS-Users] little memo for everybody

2018-04-15 Thread David Ferrin
I just wanted to remind everybody that when contacting the list moderators the
most efficient manner is to use:

jaws-users-list-ow...@jaws-users.com

The above address will reach all of us where as if you write to me or one of
the other guys who say for example happens to be on vacation and I know that
sounds far out there as nobody would want to take a break from their respective
computers, but let’s just say if it did happen that way. Your request might not
receive an answer in a timely manner.

Other than that little glitch things have been running quite smoothly around
here for an extended period of time. Which goes to the lists’ longevity, 12 and
a half years already. Now if you have a reason to contact one of us privately
or don’t mind the possibility of waiting for a reply then go for it.

OK I have rambled on long enough and remember go Penguins.

Because of the shared files, I'd be nervous about installing an earlier

Hello all, I am using JAWS 17 on one of my laptops. Lately it sometimes
opens with the announcement, "Remote Jaws" I close it and it returns to JAWS

pressed insert-T so I closed it with alt F4 at which point I heard the
announcement, terminating tandem connection. Any idea of what might be going
on?

Hi,
I am using Excel, and usually I press control + F2 twice quickly, and I can
copy the formula that comes up.
Only now I can only read the okay button, like it is in one of those message
boxes that we cannot get to.
If I do an insert + B, it reads the window, I just cannot copy the formula
as I usually do.
What is the command for making a non editable window copyable?
I know there is such a command, for copying messages that we normally cannot
copy.
Thanks.

OK! I have the JAWS 16.0.4474 in my download folder. I assume it would not
be a good idea to have Jaws 18 running when I install 16? Tom

Hi!
JAWS 16.4350
Will work, earlier than that, a different driver is used.

Because of the shared files, I'd be nervous about installing an earlier
version than the one on your system. Also, FS/VFO made a substantial change
to JAWS that I believe began with version 17. If I were you, I'd ask VFO
tech support.

Are there any problems in installing Jaws version 16 if Jaws 2018 is already

The one you posted brings up the list, and allows you to name permanent

The place mmarkerseems like a good work around, also remembering a key word,
any word in that area, or a short sequence, and using the find feature,
control f, could laos be used.

Thanks, Patti, you've given me a very constructive workaround, and I'll use
it. Still, it's an extra step and a distraction. Let's say I'm copying seven
items of information from different parts of a webpage. With previous
versions of JAWS, I could rely on focus staying where I'd left it on
transferring each item to a Word file. This is already a tedious process
that requires concentration. Your idea will help, but it's still an extra
precaution I shouldn't need to take based on earlier versions of JAWS.

Note for anyone following this thread. You can set a temporary placemarker
in a browser with control-shift-k. As I recall, it is replaced each time you
set a new one or close the window.

Hi. We've had an earlier thread on this subject. I've also written and
spoken to VFO about it, but all they told me was to change certain JAWS
quick settings that I want to keep for other purposes. I don't need to make
these changes when using earlier versions of JAWS, which means I spend my

I've just written again to VFO tech support. I'd urge anyone else

Agreed, but that's a secondary option, if you've got to do something else.
With place markers, I've noticed that sometimes, they don't hold, though I'd
try the place marker first. Going to start using them at work more, thanks

Because of the shared files, I'd be nervous about installing an earlier version
than the one on your system. Also, FS/VFO made a substantial change to JAWS
that I believe began with version 17. If I were you, I'd ask VFO tech support.

Are there any problems in installing Jaws version 16 if Jaws 2018 is already
installed? Tom For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit:
