Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Updates Inquiry
Howdy Jerry, Here you go: How do I enable or disable fast startup? Fast startup is a feature in Windows that helps your computer start faster. You can use the following steps to enable or disable fast startup. 1. Type Control Panel in the search box. 2. Click Control Panel. 3. Click Power Options. 4. Click Choose what the power buttons do. 5. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable. 6. Tab down to Shutdown settings and uncheck Turn on fast startup. 7. Click Save changes. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws Hot Key
Hola Cristbal. First, let me clarify that by a hotkey, you mean a shortcut key to run Jaws. You lose the shortcut key after each update because Jaws recreates the actual shortcut in Program Data and you must redefine the shortcut key. Most Windows programs install this way, unless they examine the current shortcut file or allow the user to keep it as is. Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws Hot Key
I don't think so, no. Between full version numbers this makes sense, as they are supposed to be able to exist simultaneously on the system and thus the versions have different path/filenames, etc. But I also don't really see why a hotkey shouldn't be retained after a cumulative update to a version. I think the NVDA hotkey works quite differently; it seems to be part of NVDA's instalation whereas with JAWS it's entirely up to you whether you want one or not. It's a Windows thing. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Geoff Connor Sent: May 28, 2018 12:34 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws Hot Key Hello. You can do this with zoom. The only issue I really have is that the chat box won't automatically speak text input by the other person. But you can also chat via audio. There are keyboard commands for everything. Go to http://www.zoom.us and download the client. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of wayne smith Sent: May 24, 2018 9:43 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Video Chat? Re: [JAWS-Users] Video Chat?
It listed a range of functions and platforms and I just took one and tried it. If you try your link you will see what I was confused about. Re: [JAWS-Users] downloading kindle books to the pc library through kindle pc and jaws
Yes I do Kelly. It must have something to do with settings and amazon account I believe, though, my computer tech as a sighted person, was able to download all four books I had bought. I bought another one to try things thereafter, but with no success from my part. That is how I get new content to my computer. Kelly -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List On Behalf Of Panagiotis Antonopoulos Sent: Saturday, May 26, 2018 8:01 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] downloading kindle books to the pc library through kindle pc and jaws Hi all, As I am trying to explore kindle a bit further, using kindle for pc as opposed to other forms, I find it impossible to get a fresh purchase, which appears on my kindle library, be delivered to the pc itself. If I go to "your kindle content" or "manage content and devices", I can trace the purchased title, but buttons such as deliver, delete etc, as well as select, seem entirely inactive when using jaws and they seem checked to the effect they are not available, while the select does not even appear as a button. Only if I press "select all" these buttons except for the individual select, become usable, however the only choice is "deliver all", which again, when pressed does not appear to do the job. Jaws simply says "deliver all link button". My computer tech in Athens, who saw kindle through team viewer, believes there is a problem of accessibility, but before accepting this, I thought of asking if anyone among our group knows something more, has found a solution, or can simply inform me definitively that I am trying to do something which has an accessibility issue.
