Hi Lenny,

Try the steps below. It is different but, does work.

The way I have always opened links is to position my curser on them.
Then do a JAWS Key F7
Tab once .
This Moves to Link
Tab again
This activates the link
then hit Enter
I have opened links like this since JAWS 3.3

Press insert+Z. Do it several times until Jaws states on for all

I don't know why this happens, but suffice it to say, this seems to happen
 to me quite frequently.

Will have to write Jaws tech support about it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Word count short Cut Key

2009-06-20 Thread Justin Williams
I just tested it, and alt t w works, but alt r w words just the same, and it
is the w007 way of doing it. The word count is located on the review tab.
Alt t does not take you anyware except to the home tab because by it's self,
it is not a viable keystroke. But, alt t w works. It's just a hold over
from 2003. The 1003 menu bar commands don't work on their own. They work
only in conjunction with another keystroke such as alt t then w. Well, all
of them except alt f. that takes you to the office button. Use either
method, which ever works.

Because when you are justmoving through a page, you end up in forms mode
accidently, and you type in the fields without meaning to especially when
you are using the alpha keys. The fix is to simply set the forms mode to
one or two seconds. Then, you should be able to move your hands fast enough
so that it isn't a problem. All and all it's a good fearute if employed
correctly. I would not want to see the option taken away.

Anything more then about three or four computers, you will probably be
better off with a switch along with that router. When you put five pcs on a
router, you are bound to have trouble. lynksis is a pretty good router.
But look into a switch. Remember, dsl is a little flaky. You will find
that cable is more reliable, and may give you a strounger signal so that you
may not need tto worry about a switcvh, but what you have is a small
network.

Yo may be able to use the sent to command. You could also try creating a
folder for the set of files you want to move, and just cut and paste the
folder.

Hi, all
I want to move files from one hard drive to another. Right now what I do is
cut and paste it into the hard drive I want to put the file. If I do several
files, it tend to name the files with the same name. Is there another way to
move files from a hard drive to another without doing cut and paste? Help.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Urgent Warning - Do not install Rapport

Dear list,

This is a warning not to install the Rapport Financial security software if
invited to by your bank. This morning I tried to access my internet banking
site, Nat West in the UK. I was met with a window telling me that I should
install the Rapport financial protection software to enhance security. As
Nat West has reassured me in the past that they always check their web pages
with Jaws I accepted the invitation to install. .

Basically the software then knocked out all IE browser capacity with Jaws.
Jaws could only read the titles of web pages , could read no text from the
actual pages and could not detect any links or form fields on pages.

Alarmed by this I rang up Nat West Technical Support. Basically we spent
about half an hour deleting cookies, looking through add ones etc. to no
affect. At the end the Support Team worker confessed that they had had
several other calls from visually impaired users complaining of this problem
but could only offer to pass the concerns up the line.

I eventually investigated add remove programs on my own initiative and
discovered Rapport there. Amazingly any attempt to uninstall the program is
responded to with an inaccessible interface which Jaws cannot cope with. I
enlisted the help of my sighted wife and she told me that the un-install
wizard includes a screen with a graphics capture in which a user needs to
type in letters displayed on an image. This means that it is impossible for
a screen reader user to un-install this software unless they have sighted
help.

Once Rapport was removed Jaws was able to read web pages again.

I have complained to Nat West and have urged them to post a warning for
screen reader users on their page. I have been reassured over the phone that
I should be able to continue to use the bank online services and I will not
be any more liable for not installing the software. However, as I am
required to check a box on the site that I have read the message about
downloading and installing Rapport I am not so confident about this verbal
reassurance.

Anyway I thought I should post an urgent message to stop others encountering
this problem who may not have sighted help.

David Griffith

Re: [JAWS-Users] MS Word hotkeys

2009-02-13 Thread Justin Williams
Well done. Thank you for sending those out. Remember, those keys are
windows commands. Anyone can perform them sighted or blind. JAWS commands
have to do with the numpad key or with the insert or JAWS key located on the
num pad. Great job. I'm sure that will help several members on this list.

Hello Everyone,

I'm a new member to this group, and I wanted to introduce myself. My name
is Jack. I've been a JAWS user since 1999. I started out with Jaws 3.0.
I'm now using Jaws 10. I'm 45 years old and I live in Ohio. I'll keep this
brief so as not to take up your time. I hope to learn from others and share
what I know where I'm able.
Jack

Hi Chris.

Have you tryed to start Word, before you are copying the selected text?
I have often copyed text from webpages, and when started Word 2007, annd
pasted it, nothing is in the document.
But if i have started Word before i am selecting and copying the text from a
webpage, than all works fine.

Good luck!

Greetings from Hans Pauli.

Emne: [JAWS-Users] Problem with Word 2007

 Hello all,
I'm having a fairly serious problem with Word 2007, in that when I copy
something from a website, especially large chunks of text, and paste it
into
a word document, Word stops responding, and so does JAWS 10. I realize
that
I have virtual cursor set to full text with onscreen highlight, but would
prefer that from the from virtual cursor setting as of course it doesn't
insert the information that JAWS speaks, like list of x items, where x
is
a number. Does anyone know a way around this? This is for an assignment
I've
 got to do. Thanks.

I am just trying to read the address bar and not necessarily move to it. I

I realize that alt-d takes you to the address bar.

 Hello Lori,

You can also use speech and sound schemes to use different voices for such
things as changes in font attributes, font type, font color and others.
 Use
JAWS key with alt and the letter S to bring up a list of schemes. Use
 up
and down arrow keys or first letter navigation to find a scheme to use.
Press enter key on the choice to make the particular scheme active. The
schemes can be modified to some degree by using the Speech and Sound
 Manager
 in the configuration manager.

 Take care.

 Hello Lori,
I believe the keystroke you are wanting is jaws key plus f. When on a
 word
it will tell you things like the font and whether it is bold or
 underlined
 and so forth.
Hope this is what you wanted,

I'm glad you mentioned Facebook...it was something I was going to mention

Unfortunately, I am having a lot of the same problems using Internet
Explorer. I can tell you that when editing your profile, you press enter on
the edit my profile link and JAWS appears to do nothing. Internet
Explorer (and I would assume Firefox) loads the profile editing controls
onto that same page without refreshing everything else. So arrow down
passed your profile information and you should see controls to edit the
profile.
As far as my problems...I can't comment on status or send messages or
anything like that.

Hope this helps,

Well, I'd like to express my warmest greetings Happy Happy Birthday to you

Wat a coincidence, it's my birthday today as well, 5th of January!
What about a champagne toast for the celebrants, smile!!!

Well I'd to take a minute to thank those who have already wished me well
 and
also in advance of those who will as the day progresses. The fact is I
 won't
be home much today because of family obligations so it might take a while
 to
respond to some of the messages. All I can think of right now is that 50
doesn't seem any different than 25 except for the lack of stamina that I
 had
back then. Now I have to rest up to take a nap. Never the less let's keep
things flowing smoothly on here, thanks again folks and happy computing.

Well I'll be attributing such a name to a day for myself in 12 days time.
 But, since January is the
best month to have a happy birthday in, then, I just know Mr Ferrin will
 have an awesome day.

The key word her is significant changes.
Try pushing the letter b which takes you from button to button.
You may also try using insert f6 to put your form fields in a list.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS: Form fields in PHP?

Hello list, and happy New Year.

I have generally found the PHP BBS website/blog/forum format to be
very accessible. However, on one particular site, I cannot seem to
navigate the post topic form to click a browse for attach file
button. I have tried tabbing from top to bottom and
vice-versa...nothing works. The webmaster for this site claims that
no significant changes have been made to the site's PHP BBS
software. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem, and if so
have you a work-around? TIA.

Paul

I hope the correction in the spelling of a word the subject line makes it a
bit
clearer. Routing JAWS to PC involves the keystroke Numpadinsert key
together with the NumpadMinus key, so that the JAWS cursor - equivalent to
the mouse or JAWS' use of it - is brought to the
location of the PC cursor. .
