Hello George,

Thanks for the info here, I had never viewed these buttons/settings before.
I am viewing a very long extensive list of places I have visited on web, my
bank is among this list.

So, do I just delete these one by one or select several at a time?

Thanks,

Trish

Is there a way to view what sites have cookies on my computer?
I had to uncheck the delete history under tools/options because of a

only

delete the ones you want and keep the rest?
I know when I used xp there was a way to view these cookies, but I am not

 Appreciate any help..

Control f to Forward a message, works for me, using Windows Live Mail in
Windows7. If the email has an attachment, then by default it will be
sent. If you don't want to send the attachment, in any case you can
delete it from the attachment field which, in my version, is just prior
to (shift+tab from) the message body.

Hi,
You are set to use some other keyboard layout than US keyboard. and it's
alt-shift to cycle between the keyboard layouts on your system. the
right alt key functions as alt and ctrl together in european and some
other multilingual keyboards, where it is also known as the alt-gr key
and forms part of accented letter key combinations. Some other keys are
also different, such as the 'at' key, quote key, et al. So if you want
the US model, press left alt-shift once or more times till you hear
that, and then leave it there.

Settings Center, press, Control, shift, + D, to open default all
applications.
2. Arrow down to, Punctuation closed press right arrow to open.
3. Arrow down to customize punctuation press the spacebar to open.
Don't
press enter here, if you press enter instad of the spacebar, the
Settings
Center
will close.
4.A. When making changes in the customize punctuation list, if you do
not
want
Jaws to speak/recognize a particular punctuation mark you want to
choose the
all selection. You will have 4 radio buttons to arrow up or down
through. They are none, some, most, all. In these selections they
work
backwards than what you would think. For example; If you choose
none
for the dollar sign, Jaws will speak / recognize every dollar sign in
whatever you are reading. On the other hand, if you choose the all

radio button, Jaws will not speak / recognize any dollar signs.

4.B. After you pressed the spacebar on customize punctuation, you are
now in
a list of punctuation marks. Arrow down the list and when
you have the punctuation mark you want to change highlighted, tab 1
time to
the radio buttons that I mentioned earlier.
5. Keeping in mind what I mentioned earlier about these choices
working
backwards, select the box in this list, in your case not wanting any
apostrophy's spoken, choose the all button.
6. Now, if you want to make a change to another punctuation mark,
shift tab
back to the list and highlight a different punctuation mark, tab back
to the
radio buttons and select the box you prefer.
7. After you are done making your changes tab to okay and press the
spacebar.
8. Tab to apply, press the spacebar, tab to okay, press the spacebar
to save
your changes close the Settings Center.

Now, I hope that you are not as confused as I am after typing all of
this.
LOL Hope this has helped.

The only thing I can think of is if you have the punctuation level set
correctly, and quotes set to None, then go into the punctuation manager
customize punctuation, and find quot4es. Go to the edit description and
change the word quote to being blank. But, then you won't hear Quote at any
time in any other scheme.

Hi Susie Q,

Follow the steps below but, in the steps below the, apostrophy, is used as
the example. In your case insert quotes for apostrophy.

You can change how Jaws speaks the apostrophy in the Settings Centter
default all applications by doing the following:

1. Press Insert + 6, on the number row above the main keyboard to open the
Settings Center, press, Control, shift, + D, to open default all
applications.
2. Arrow down to, Punctuation closed press right arrow to open.
3. Arrow down to customize punctuation press the spacebar to open. Don't
press enter here, if you press enter instad of the spacebar, the Settings
Center
will close.
4.A. When making changes in the customize punctuation list, if you do not
want
Jaws to speak/recognize a particular punctuation mark you want to choose the
all selection. You will have 4 radio buttons to arrow up or down
through. They are none, some, most, all. In these selections they work
backwards than what you would think. For example; If you choose none
for the dollar sign, Jaws will speak / recognize every dollar sign in
whatever you are reading. On the other hand, if you choose the all
radio button, Jaws will not speak / recognize any dollar signs.

4.B. After you pressed the spacebar on customize punctuation, you are now in
a list of punctuation marks. Arrow down the list and when
you have the punctuation mark you want to change highlighted, tab 1 time to
the radio buttons that I mentioned earlier.
5. Keeping in mind what I mentioned earlier about these choices working
backwards, select the box in this list, in your case not wanting any
apostrophy's spoken, choose the all button.
6. Now, if you want to make a change to another punctuation mark, shift tab
back to the list and highlight a different punctuation mark, tab back to the
radio buttons and select the box you prefer.
7. After you are done making your changes tab to okay and press the
spacebar.
8. Tab to apply, press the spacebar, tab to okay, press the spacebar to save
your changes close the Settings Center.

Now, I hope that you are not as confused as I am after typing all of this.
LOL Hope this has helped.

Take care.

I'm using Ava right now. She'f quite expressive no pun entended but not as
much as I expected. I'm no longer using Elequence. I'm just using Ava. It's
so disappointing they got rid of Jenn though. I loved Jenn. She was a very
good reading voice. But then again, I may have just gotten too use to her
from listening to the PTR1 and PTR2 manuals over, over, over, over, over,
over, over, over and over and over again. Front to back too. Jill was okay
too. Sam sounds annoyed kind of, and she's also too cliché for my taste. The
Apple stuff has her, The first Victor Streem had her, and on it goes. Enough
already with Sam! I really wish they'd bring Jenn back I wouldn't mind her
all over the place. Smile. Also, why don't they ever use hot chicks for
these voices? It's always women in there 40s or something. Let's hear some
hot chick for once. Even some girlly 36 year old or something.

Hi Guys,
I have installed the U.S. Vocalizer Expressive voices on my machine. I have
used Ava a little and I don't think that I have ever heard a happier
sounding synthetic voice, unlike Samantha, who always sounds a little mad.
I wish that Ava was available for my iPhone. Overall though, for JAWS, I
still prefer plain old Eloquence. I have used it for 15 years or so, ever
sense they started packaging it with JAWS, and I have just gotten so use to
it that it seems a little strange using anything else. The Eloquence voice
itself sounds very robotic but I think that it does a better job at very
high speeds and the pronunciation is a little better than many of these more
natural sounding voices.
Thanks,
Scott Duck

Allison, Ava, Smantha, and Tom are the U.S. voices. However, they are very
expressive as was discussed in the latest FS cast as compared to previous
versions. The direct version does not indicate caps by raising pitch like
the expressive version. I am using Ava myself and am very happy with the
response on my Windows 7 64 bit running both jaws and magic with 6 gigs of
ram.
I am not up on all the additional voices for other countries but I am
impressed with all the vocalizer expressive voices out there for everyone
already.
I am also very happy with the first public beta so far.
It's playing very well with Magic 12 and comes in handy on all these
overcrowded web sites today.

I just hope they fix the outlook issues. Not being able to edit signatures
with jaws, not telling how many unread messages there are in each folder
when cybling through them, the auto fill not reading when your typing the
first few letters of a frequently emailed address, and not to mention in
word, and excel, when changing options, you have to read current line when
tabbing through in order to know what the option is. These are big deals to
me. I paid to much for this license, for these things not to work. JMO

On all the computers I use, and on my students' computers as well,
with JAWS 13 and 14, pressing alt+f4 often just says 'menu bar' and
closes nothing so we have to press the keystroke again. Is anyone
else experiencing this? Is there a way to close a program that works

There's a free version which is limited in what it can do and a plus version

that is why I stoped using outlook, then I went back to it, and now it has

Hello friends,

I have an HP laptop and the volume control is on a touch sensitive pad above
the keybord which is a bit tricky but not impossible.
Is there a way within JAWS that you can control the volume on the fly or
another work around to avoid the touchpad to control the volume on the fly,
without having to use the system tray shortcut that anyone has found?

Many thanks in anticipation,

hello there;
if you have multiple accounts,
when you press ctrl+new=new message,
you then could press,
alt+a, this will provide you with a list,
so select which account, and continue with the message/send process.

each account will have it's own folders.

you got it exactly right. When you add more accounts, they will have there
own set of folders. And whatever account you are in, that's the account it
will send from. If you want to sent from a different account different from
the one you are in, hit alt M and arrow through and hit enter on the one
you'd like to send from. You can even set outlook to open up in a defalt
folder, It's in advanced options. HTH

Hi,

Jaws wasn't responding to certain commands so I wanted to turn it off and
then start it again. This usually solves the problem. I turned it off. But
when I wanted to restart it, the hot keys didn't work. I have a win7
computer with the latest version of Jaws 13. I also have a very enlarged
Magic 11. I found Jaws on the desktop and pressed enter, but that didn't
turn it on. It's working now because I restarted the computer, but I would
like to know how to turn Jaws on next time this happens.

List,

When I attempt to look up the weather, JAWS 14 Beta 2 is only reading
the current condition, temperature, etc, for that day. It will not read
anything
passed that. I.E. When you go to the summaries for the days of the week,
all you will hear JAWS read is Friday, Friday night, Saturday, etc. It
completely
skips the summaries underneath the listing of the days. I just finished
testing this with the latest build of 13, and it works as expected,
just as it did in Beta one. Let me know if you're able to produce this
by looking up the weather for your own area. I'd be interested to find
out if anyone else is experiencing this. Thanks,
Josh

Hello;
You don't think Canada has research it?
Oh of course it does!
The research feature comes with the version your using.

To use research it,
Try this,

1, first press,
Insert+spacebar,
You will hear a sound,

2, press the letter r=research it.
Let's look for the weather in you're area.
So type in,
The name of your city,
The name of your province,
Example,
Kingston Ontario.

Weatherlook-up source

Thanks,
Josh

You go into Jaws, and then the options menu, and then basics.
Tab until you come to keyboard layout, and arrow to desktop, and then okay

Hi, I am not sure if there are any very low vision people that can give me
a hand with this question or not, but here is my set up, and was wondering
if it can be fixed.
I am using windows seven, Jaws 13, and windows live mail. I have my in box
set up but there is some thing not right with the looks of it, I have the
list of messages but there is only showing about ten messages in the list,
and half way down the page is the actual email showing, and was wondering
if there was a way to get rid of that email at the bottom, and just show
the hole list of email. when I first opened it, the list was there but the
email was showing on the side, kind of like two pages, and that was losing
focus all the time, so my daughter clicked some thing it went away but put
the open message on the bottom, and I don’t want it to show at all, can
some one tell me how to just show the list of email, and then show me the
opened email when I enter it? thanks sue

Hello Susie q,

It sounds like you want to turn off the reading pane in Windows Live Mail.
When in the list of messages in the inbox either click on the view tab of
the ribbon or press Alt followed by V. Either tab to the reading pane
dropdown button or click it. It is on the lower part of the ribbon once you
click the view tab. If you tab to it then press enter when focus is on the
button. You will likely notice that it is set to show on the bottom of the
inbox window. Click on the Off button or tab to it and press enter key.
You should then need to open a message before the contents of the message is
displayed.

Take care.

Yes. Eloquence is the default but you can use other synths with JAWS.

From JAWS 14 and newer Vocalizer Direct voices is also supported and they

can be downloaded from FS's website.
You can also use voices/synths that are SAPI 5 compatible like Ivona and
Acapela should work fine as well.

They'll show up as individual voices under one Vocalizer Direct
profile, so you will have to tweak your voice settings to sample
multiple voices. Not to worry though, profiles are easily deleted

and

won't interfere with using Eloquence as your default synthesizer.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Installing Voices?

Hi, I have always used Ellequence so far, however, I would like to try using
some of the new Vocalizer voices. When I downloaded all the English voices,
each said it would be installed. But after pressing Alt F and then Down
Arrow to Voices and following through the Profiles there, I could only find
Ellequence and Sappy 64 byt.

How do I now install all those voices?

When I checked Jaws 14 help, it didn't answer this.

Weight, when you downloaded them, did you run them or save them? They
install just like any thing else. I don't know what happened. If you saved
them, go to your downloads folder, and run them.

This is really intersting because Samantha on the Victor Reader Stream is
dreadful. Most of us just tolerate her. It has something to do, I'm told,
with the amount of space allocated to her or something like that.

I've tried it too a little bit. Not the scrypt thing, but JAWS 14 it self,

it seems to be fine so far. The real test is to try it with Windows 8. Rick
Harmon has done it, and he says it's fine. Mind you he's using the RTM,
which I have too just haven't installed it yet. As for the voices, I'm
disappointed in that they don't have the Vocalizer version of Jennifer. She
was my favorite. I don't know who's to blame, is it FS for not getting it,
or The other guys haven't made the Vocalizer version of Jenn yet. If you
read this Eric, what's going on here my friend? Can you shed some light here
please?

Hi I have a question about windows mail, and out look.

Is it ok to use both programs for different reasons? I know one program can
be run at a time, as default, but for sending new messages, I like outlook,
but reading and replying I like windows live mail.

I have been trying to use both programs today, and I like out look for new
messages, and windows for reading and replying? Reading email in windows
live mail there is so much les junk that jaws reads, but setting up a new
message by first letter navigation uis so much butter, so is it ok to use
both programs for different things? Or will some how they will clash. Thanks
so much susie

Hi Sue

I use jaws 13 with live mail.

when I write an email, I start the way you do,

control N for new email.

then rather than shift tab to get to the contact list, enter the first
letter of the name you want, such as E for elaine. as you are already in the
address field.

then if you shift tab, then tab again, basically you are going back then
forward again to the email address edit field, you will see an address
there. for some reasons jaws doesn't see the address unless you do that.

I think it depends on how you have live mail set up, for example, i've
turned off quite a lot of things within the settings. it makes live mail
more like windows mail. at first I hated live mail but now it's working as
as I like it.

once you have found the email address you wanted, then you can tab over to
the other fields.

personally I wouldn't bother with going to the contact list unless you have
too. this way works for me and I hope it is helpful to you.

if you need any further help, dont hesitate to contact me.

hugs

Elaine

have two people with the first name of D, and in out look I could bring up
the first one, and if I want the second one for example, I have a debbie, a
dawn, and a dalphinlilly, and I want to write to dalphinlilly I should be
able to type in d, and arrow down. but here just the first letter comes up!
so how do I turn it on? salso how do you get Jaws to read the incoming name,
it just reads the subject, my friend has been asking that question for weeks

I think it depends on how you have live mail set up, for example, i've
turned off quite a lot of things within the settings. it makes live mail
more like windows mail. at first I hated live mail but now it's working as
as I like it.

once you have found the email address you wanted, then you can tab over to
the other fields.

personally I wouldn't bother with going to the contact list unless you have
too. this way works for me and I hope it is helpful to you.

if you need any further help, dont hesitate to contact me.

hugs

Elaine

I am not great with remembering email address so I would like to psend

1. ctrl N for new message.
2. shift tab to contact list.

Hi Suzy.

After control N, if you type the first part of the name or the e-mail
address, you should be able to tab once and hear nothing. If that happens,
you can tab again, then shift tab and hear who it's going to. What do you
hear when you tab once?

To add a sender in windows live
the easiest way go to the message but don't enter
tap the application key and up arrow to add sender to contacts and enter
This will put him/her in the contact list
Remember that control 1 brings you back to your inbox and tab will get you
to the list view of messages and
control 3 will bring you to your contact list
If you do not have a message from the person to add you can still add them
with
control shift c
this will bring you to many fields like first name
last name and continue tabbing and putting all the info manually and tab to
okay
Hope this helps you

Susie,

When you talk about adding it to the Stream, what do you mean, the Victor
Stream?

When you open any document, you can always select save-as and save it as a
different version. I thought you were wanting to make all your documents in
Word 2010 in the old .doc format.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] question about word 2010 and Jaws 13?

Hi Susie q,

Don't confuse compatibility mode with protected view mode. Compatibility
mode just means that Word 2010 is letting you open a file from an earlier
version of Word. You can still edit the document and save it as usual.
JAWS just reads the title bar when opening the document and so you hear that
it is being opened in compatibility mode. You don't have to save it in the
new format. If all you are wanting to do is transfer the edited file to
your Stream then you might as well just leave it in the .DOC format.

On the other hand if there are features in Word 2010 that you want to use
that weren't available in the earlier versions of Word then you might want
to use the newer format. The compatibility mode is not the same as the
protected mode and it is not a safety feature. If Word thinks a document
might be from an unsafe source then it will open in protected view, which is
like a sandboxed area. Documents from programs using the Internet zone are
examples of documents opened in protected view. You don't need to worry
about documents opened in compatibility mode so if all you are wanting to do
is put them on the Stream you really don't need to use the newer format.

Take care.

I did this, I opened the document in the old style, and then opened a new
document, and cut and paste, and now it does not say compatibility mode, now
when I want to add it to the stream, do I have to resave it to html, or
plain text! To place in notes folder? sue

Yes, you can go into Word Options and tell it to create/save documents in
the old .doc format.

It means you are using a newer version of Microsoft Office. The 2007 and up
use the .d o c x as the standard default format, instead of the older .d o c
file type in Microsoft Word in Office versions 2003 and below.

One way to do this is to press the alt key followed by the number 1 twice
quickly in an open email and right click on the person's name or email
address and arrow down to add to outlook contacts.
The contact form will open and tab through to verify the information or add
additional info and press alt s to save it.
