You will have 4 radio buttons to arrow up or down through. They are none, some, most, all. In these selections they work backwards than what you would think. For example; If you choose none for the dollar sign, Jaws will speak / recognize every dollar sign in whatever you are reading. On the other hand, if you choose the all radio button, Jaws will not speak / recognize any dollar signs. 4.B. After you pressed the spacebar on customize punctuation, you are now in a list of punctuation marks. Arrow down the list and when you have the punctuation mark you want to change highlighted, tab 1 time to the radio buttons that I mentioned earlier. 5. Keeping in mind what I mentioned earlier about these choices working backwards, select the box in this list, in your case not wanting any apostrophy's spoken, choose the all button. 6. Now, if you want to make a change to another punctuation mark, shift tab back to the list and highlight a different punctuation mark, tab back to the radio buttons and select the box you prefer. 7. After you are done making your changes tab to okay and press the spacebar. 8. Tab to apply, press the spacebar, tab to okay, press the spacebar to save your changes close the Settings Center. On the other hand, if you choose the all radio button, Jaws will not speak / recognize any dollar signs. 4.B. Hi, is there a way to move icons on the desk top, with out using a mouse? When in the list of messages in the inbox either click on the view tab of the ribbon or press Alt followed by V. Either tab to the reading pane dropdown button or click it. I did this, I opened the docqument in the old style, and then opened a new docqument, and cut and paste, and now it does not say compatablity mode, now when I want to add it to the stream, do I have to resave it to html, or plain text! I am writing a book that I started in word 2003, and when I took them from my old computer and now, I am doing a rewrite, and when I am done, I want to put the rewrite on the stream, to read them with Samantha! Hi Susie q, Don't confuse compatibility mode with protected view mode. Compatibility mode just means that Word 2010 is letting you open a file from an earlier version of Word. You can still edit the document and save it as usual. JAWS just reads the title bar when opening the document and so you hear that it is being opened in compatibility mode. You don't have to save it in the new format. If all you are wanting to do is transfer the edited file to your Stream then you might as well just leave it in the .DOC format. On the other hand if there are features in Word 2010 that you want to use that weren't available in the earlier versions of Word then you might want to use the newer format. The compatibility mode is not the same as the protected mode and it is not a safety feature. If Word thinks a document might be from an unsafe source then it will open in protected view, which is like a sandboxed area. Documents from programs using the Internet zone are examples of documents opened in protected view. You don't need to worry about documents opened in compatibility mode so if all you are wanting to do is put them on the Stream you really don't need to use the newer format. Take care. Press shift+tab one time and it will say Search by. The two choices are Name only and more columns. If more columns is checked, you won't see any names in the list. So make sure that name only is checked by selecting it using the arrow keys..
