Re: [JAWS-Users] Multiple JAWS versions

2018-05-15 Thread jyandt.martin

Yes. I could not get the assessment site to verify my jaws.

The whole story is, I was selected for a job position as a braille
transcriber. But before the interview can happen, I need to take 3
evaluation tests for typing, excel, and Word. So after clicking the box
indicating I use a screen reader, the site needed to verify my software.
Unfortunately, the verification gets interrupted due to a conflict. The
assessment site is overseen by IBM, and I contacted them yesterday. They
informed me that the site was not compatible with JAWS 2018, and to go back
to a recent version. So, after initializing version 17, the same thing
happened.

So, that is it in a nutshell. Thanks.

Hi Jerry,

What didn't work? You couldn't verify / authorize Jaws with FS, or you
couldn't get the job assessment program to verify your Jaws as the the Jaws
17 they want to be used?

Thanks for all of the suggestions/instructions. I finally got version 17 to
work. However, it still did not solve my initial problem, as I attempted to
do the software verification for the job interview software assessment, and
it still would not work. Oh, well. no j o b for me, I guess. Thanks again to

I wonder if there's a semantics issue here. To uninstall is to completely
remove the program from the computer. to unload is to temporarily disable a
program until you're ready to bring it back. So yes, you do need to unload
JAWS 18 before loading JAWS 17.

what you need to do is to create a shortcut to start the version 17.
give this a try;

1, unload the current version of jaws your running.
2, type: windows-key+r=run,

Re: [JAWS-Users] Multiple JAWS versions

2018-05-14 Thread Mike B.
Hi Jerry,

No, you don't need to uninstall anything. Being that you said you have Jaws
17 showing in Programs of the control panel, David is trying to see if Jaws
17 is only showing or if it's installed.

If you open the start menu and open your Programs folder, arrow down to see
if Jaws 17 is there. If it's there, Jaws 17 is probably already installed.
To finde out for sure, this is what David is suggesting, open the Run
dialogue with the keystroke Windows key + R, and type in the following:

jaws 17

Now unload whatever version of Jaws you have running with the, Jaws key +
F4, keystroke and press enter. to shut that version down. Now press enter
again, and if you have Jaws 17 installed it should start.
Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Multiple JAWS versions

Afternoon all.

I need to take an assessment test for a possible job interview. The end
result of the software states that I need to use JAWS 17, not 2018. I have
17 in my downloads folder, as well as in the programs page of control panel.
I need to find out how I would go about re-installing version 17 on my Dell
laptop, with Windows 10, while using version 2018 for the process, if it is
possible. Thanks in advance.
