Re: [JAWS-Users] Notifications from Skype 2016 for Business under JAWS 17/Windows 10

Hello jason, Annette and List

In the normal Skype, there's an option to notify you when a contact changes
status. If this option is present in skype for Business, it might do the
trick.

There may indeed have been improvements. I have successfully exchanged
text-based messages with colleagues and participated in a voice call with
Skype for Business 2016. The help system includes explanations of how to use
Skype for Business with a screen reader. Admittedly, it's a slightly
confusing application to navigate (or, at least, it is for me).

Actually, my list of problems was pretty long. I was thinking since you had
it up and running and were only experiencing issues with focus when a new
message came in, that maybe there had been some significant improvements.

My work-a-round has been to not run Skype for Business. They are not happy
with me at work, but since they are paying me to be productive this was the
best solution.

Whenever the status of a contact changes in Skype 2016 for Business, a
notification is displayed and it seems to take the focus away from whatever
application I am using. I need to use Alt-Tab or Alt-Shift-Tab to move back
to the current application - especially if it's a Web browser or other
application in the virtual viewer. In Microsoft Outlook, for example in the
message list, just pressing an arrow key is enough to restore focus, but in
most situations this is not the case.

Has anyone else here experienced this issue? Have you reported it? Is there
a work-around?
