Re: [JAWS-Users] reading bold, italic, underline

2007-12-25 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Hi David, merry Christmas to you and your family.
Happy New Year to you as well.

At 23:15 24/12/2007, you wrote:
No - changing the font will not affect underlining or italics. You can test
this out by pressing insert F to get font information in Word. Underline
something and then change the font. You will see that the underline remains.

This is why I do the unformatted text paste to strip out bold italics and so
on. The only thing this method does not catch is inappropriate capitals but
I try to hear the pitch change in Jaws to check this.

Happy Christmas to everybody on this list.

Hi David,
this is handy to know, as I too sometimes copy and paste information from
different sources. What I usually do, is when I have finished cutting and
pasting, I do a control A to select the whole document. I then go into the
format menu and select my font choice and then save my document with the new
changes. This helps to make sure my whole document has the same font all
throughout the document. Do you know though, does my method also remove the
original underlining and centreing etc? I always do such formatting after
completing my document.

Wally is right about applying aliases but what I find easiest is to paste
text into Word without formatting. This way I do not have to worry about any
bold, underlines or italics other people may have entered and I can start
to apply my own formatting without having to search through for errant
underlines etc. I tend to copy and replace my text with unformatted text at
the end of editing the entire document as this will remove all formatting .
.
The last thing I do before printing or sending a document is then to apply
my own formatting confident that nothing else will be there.

In Word 2003 to paste unformatted text rather than formatted text press alt
E to go to edit menu then press S for Paste special and finally U for
unformatted text. Finally press enter and unformatted text will be pasted.

This feature should also be in Word 2007 but I am not sure if this key
sequence will work the same.

Once you get used to pressing this key sequence it's a very quick method.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] reading bold, italic, underline

I want to be able to proof documents where bold, italic, and underline
accidently get included because I'm cutting and copying text from other
people within my document. How can I get JFW to routinely read me this
information all the time in MSWord?
I am placing a test document below the question.
In this document, I use underline, bold, and italic, first on their
own lines, and then all on one line.

But all I here is something about heading style.

 All,

As we get nearer to the release of JAWS 9, one of the things we create
to go with the product is a DAISY book on what's new in the version.
This book installs from the Program CD when you get it and you can
review this DAISY Book with the FS Reader Demo product that is used to
do all the training material shipped with JAWS.

We also provide mp3 files for most of our training material if you
 would like to listen

Re: [JAWS-Users] reading bold, italic, underline

2007-12-23 Thread Ann byrne
When I pasted your testing into word, Word changed the font and there
was no bold or italic or anything out of the ordinary. I would try
configuration manager, speech and sounds manager, proofread with font
and attributes. As I recall, though, you have to read something
other than Sayall in order for JAWS to report the information you
want. Maybe a line at a time. Maybe a word. It's not pretty.

2007-12-23 Thread Bélteki Lajos
Hi, Sharon!

Go to configuration manager.
Go to view options.
Go to voicealiases.
And there you can modify.
If you want for all applications, you can hit ctrl+shift+d, and so the first
steps.
From your god richly blessed christmas wish I all on the list!
