This weekend it took me ten minutes to figure out an audio captcha. I don't do background noise well either. Questions are good: is grass green? What is 2 plus 2? Then I have it repeated until I have the solution entered in Word. Then I copy and paste the results into the field and most of the time, I get it correct on one or two tries. The structure of the audio CAPTCHs is such that you have to click to start the audio and then jump into the solution field and type. This makes me hurry and I too often goof. Just be sure that when you go back to activate the repeat button that you don't press "get a new challenge." I still think that we could come up with a better CAPTCH structure. Re: [JAWS-Users] web CAPTCHA
My audio solution has become this. Open a word document and then listen to the audio and type what I hear. Being a tiny bit older than some on the list, I just try for 3 or 4 numbers or letters at a time. How about audio that said, "Enter the first name of the famous man shot by John Wilks Boot." Yes, I do this with my iPhone. I open Be My Eyes app and when the person comes on I hold my iPhone on the screen of my pc and then the person on Be My eyes can tell you which way to move the iPhone so they can see the Capcha and then they can read the information to you. Last time I did it the lady stayed on my iPhone after I entered the numbers or letter to make sure it worked. Hi. So, which version of FF do you have running? I mostly stopped using IE completely and use firfox only about 99% of the time. The one time I went back to iE recently is when FF 57 would only work with nVDA, and I wasn't quite willing to give up on JAWS altogether. But I quickly went back to FF when I got the Extended Support release. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Scorpio Sent: January 8, 2018 4:51 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] web CAPTCHA I use Webvisum all the time, and I have yet to come across an image it does not solve. Re: [JAWS-Users] web CAPTCHA
Ok. The important part of webvism, the one we're all talking about -- indeed doesn't seem to work. I get a "not found or session expired" error message, on this one page at least (IMDB password recovery). The interesting thing is that on normal pages without a capsha, it just says "no capsha on this page" or something like that. So -- does anyone successfully use this application, or not, these days? Andy said it doesn't work with new versions offirefox. Is this is true, it makes the add-on completely useless, as most people will be updating their firefoxes regularly, and indeed, the software itself greatly encourages this, for various perfectly sensible reasons. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of JM Casey Sent: January 8, 2018 4:13 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] web CAPTCHA I believe It appears to work with my Firefox 52 (esr). Indeed. Firefox/Google captchas use the I am not a robot facility and lately when the captcha pops up the x is checked and I get a free pass. However, it's been a very long time since I've encountered CAPTCHA and so needed to use Webvisum. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Dave...Oregonian Sent: Monday, January 08, 2018 12:08 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] web CAPTCHA Appears that Webvizum is dead. I use Be My Eyes which is a free IOS app. It brings up a live person and you put your camera on the screen and they can read it to you. Workds great and is free. Re: [JAWS-Users] web CAPTCHA
Nice idea, but the OCR feature cannot solve image captchas. In fact, Eric Damery has asserted for years that it would be difficult to impossible to add a captcha-solving feature to JAWS.
