[plasmashell] [Bug 361437] startkde -> startplasmacompositor -> startkde = "blackscreen"
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361437 Jameschanged: What|Removed |Added Version|5.6.1 |5.6.2 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 361437] startkde -> startplasmacompositor -> startkde = "blackscreen"
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361437 --- Comment #1 from James--- I've now upgraded to 5.6.2. Something I've noticed: Prior to the upgrade, and continuing after the upgrade, I have now gotten kde into some mode where, independent of startplasmacompositor, kactivitymanagerd always segfaults on kde exit, and plasmashell fails to start on startx with startkde. But interestingly, there is a difference before and after running startplasmacompositor. Before running startplasmacompositor, I can open a terminal and run plasmashell manually, and it seems to act normally. After running startplasmacompositor, plasmashell still does not start automatically, but when I start it manually, it complains about a now missing kglobalaccel5, and, though it will run, it appears not to do anything, leaving the desktop black and unresponsive. So there is some effect on plasmashell, before and after running startplasmacompositor. Killling "systemd --user", then logging out and logging in, still restores the working plasmashell behaviour. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 341143] Wallpaper on every desktop is gone.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341143 --- Comment #177 from linuxfluesterer--- Just to remind of the outragous features of KDE 4.x, where selective virtual desktops and also monitors can be configured: https://www.linux.com/learn/how-use-kde-plasma-desktop-pro . Here a quote of: ... "A multi-monitor bliss Plasma is bliss for those with multiple monitor setups. Plasma gives each monitor a personality of its own - which is quite limited on other DEs. You can give each monitor a different wallpaper (you can actually set different wallpapers for virtual desktops and activities as well.) Each monitor can have its own desktop layout and panels. The widgets on these panels and desktops can be configured differently which means, if you work with clients who are in different time zones, you can change the time of each desktop to that particular time-zone. **No other DE, in my knowledge, is capable of doing that.** Panels and widgets Two core components of the Plasma desktop experience are panels and widgets which enhance the user experience. To access the extra features of the panel, click on the cashew icon on the right hand side of each panel and then configure it. I don't really know why they use 'cashew', a gear icon may be more appropriate so a user gets a hint of what it does. If you want to add more panels, just right-click on the empty desktop and choose 'add panel' from the context menu. KDE’s widgets take the customization of the desktop to the next level. These widgets allow you to access information quickly on the desktop, as well as on the panel. These widgets, embedded on panel are not mere icons to open that app - they work like the widgets you have seen on Android. Widgets can also be added to the desktop - the way you do with Android. Depending on the distro, a Plasma desktop comes with a set of widgets, but you can always install more widgets which are being developed by the community. I installed a couple of widgets such as Play Control (which allows me to control the music player), RSS reader, Weather, etc. Go ahead, explore and you will find something new. ..." So, to emphasise, what were the very special of KDE 4.1x, and what is the lack of Plasma 5(.6), these Plasma featues really matter. [plasmashell] [Bug 361449] Panel from second monitor goes to first if second monitor is chenged
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361449 m.w...@web.de changed: What|Removed |Added CC||m.w...@web.de --- Comment #1 from m.w...@web.de --- I have similar problems with two monitors. I have a Laptop with an external monitor. When I plugin the monitor the panel jumps to the external monitor even thought the internal LCD is configured as the main screen. This happens even after resetting configuration (by deleting configs), on a freshly installed system and can not be fixed in the settings by setting the external monitor as main and then back the LCD as main. The panel stays on the external monitor and I have to create a new one for the LCD. Unfortunately this happens every time. I am running Kubuntu, at the moment the Beta of 16:04, but the problem was the same with 15:10 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[digikam] [Bug 361467] New: indicate (shade?) drop target when copying or moving images
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361467 Bug ID: 361467 Summary: indicate (shade?) drop target when copying or moving images Product: digikam Version: 4.14.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Albums View Assignee: digikam-de...@kde.org Reporter: jens-bugs.kde@spamfreemail.de A small usability issue: When dropping a list of images onto an album / tag / ... and using small album icons (16x16), it is not often easy to see which the drop target is - depending on the mouse cursor and icon size. During a drop operation (while the mouse button is still pressed) the drop target (e.g. album name) currently below the mouse cursor should be shaded (or otherwise highlighted).
