we cannot. We don't know when typing is going on without grabbing the keyboard

2081 if (sAlbum->searchType() == searchType)
2082 {
2083 albums.append(sAlbum);

As I understand that, either firstChild() may return NULL which is processed by
dynamic_cast and this may also return NULL.
I prevent that by explicitly checking for NULL.

[kwordquiz] [Bug 372871] New: cannot see more than 20 rows

2016-11-23 Thread MP

Bug ID: 372871

After updating to SUSE Leap 42.2, I can only see 20 rows in my kwordquiz saved
vocabulary files, although they have 40 rows.
When I open an old kwordquiz vocabulary file it never shows more than 20 rows.
I can add new rows, but they are blank and I still miss the rows from 21 to 40
in the vocabulary files that I had created. This is very annoying because I
have lost half of my vocabulary words!

I have this problem with KDE, but also if I start kwordquiz in an xfce session
or in a gnome session.

Thanks for your help.

I'm using Plasma 5.8.4 on Debian sid as it landed there yesterday and I also
getdthis issue when using the scroll wheel on the KMix icon, which makes it
actually quite unusable.

I also notice that accidentally using the scroll wheel on certain native Plasma
5 widgets that do not handle it (the Networks and Clipboard icons) triggers the
same behavior. Plasma's own PulseAudio-based audio volume icon (which I don't
normally use) seems unaffected -- perhaps it's because it handles its own wheel
events?

In previous 5.8.x versions, using the wheel on the Show Hidden Icons arrow or
the tiny empty space between tray icons also triggered a desktop switch, which
I personally found a bit annoying and counterintuitive as there's a separate
Pager widget for this kind of thing.

I too see this same leak, after 8 days plasmashell is reported as using 10GB of
"VIRT" by top, but only ~513MB of RSS. I have no swap so it's likely this is
memory that has been allocated/mmap()d but never touched.

I suspect this is related to (if not a dup of) "Bug 361521 - Insane virtual
memory consumption and icon-cache mappings".

okay, so if i open a few instances of say dolphin and i am usually watching
something on vlc, only one instances, and maybe libreoffice is open, i go to
open firefox and it locks up the entire desktop environment. everything else
seems to be running in that i can still hear vlc playing what i was watching
but the entire desktop is frozen a half second after i clicked firefox.

now one might say this is firefox. it is not because i can open firefox freely
otherwise, it only happens when i open multiple instances of things like
dolphin, vlc, libreoffice...and it has not done it seperately.

[dolphin] [Bug 368671] [Feature request] Enable item selection on mouseover || Option to toggle file selection by hovering

2016-11-23 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368671

Sorry, the last comment was actually not intended as I wanted to edit the first
comment and don't know how to edit...

Anyway, I will try to make it as clear as possible.

As an ex-windows user, I got used to selecting files by hovering,(threshold
adjustable) so that there is no need to click or double click in order to get a
file/folder selected. And more items can be un/selected by Ctrl+Click...
With Dolphin it's different, if you want to un/select an item, one has to
click the (+) and (-) so that you need to be a "sniper" to achieve that. I
think some options to customize this would be very helpful.

This leads to a second problem by the way. Dolphin has IMHO the bad habit when
hovering an item. I mean the info shown on the bottom bar when the mouse cursor
is on a file disappears very quickly, so that one needs to hover the file again
and again or select it to get that info. Why the info is not shown as long as
the file is hovered?? I think this point is related to the first one because
the file info shown on the bottom bar is only persistent if the file is
selected.

Hopefully I described it clear enough that everyone can understand as am not a
native english speaker. Thanks.

[kwin] [Bug 372865] New: File Browser was open, then disappeared and bug reporter opened up - having issues with 16.10 and Nouveau and X login/screen flickering/tearing

Bug ID: 372865
Summary: File Browser was open, then disappeared and bug
reporter opened up - having issues with 16.10 and
Nouveau and X login/screen flickering/tearing
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.7.5
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: el...@ihug.co.nz
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: kwin_x11 (5.7.5)

Qt Version: 5.6.1
Frameworks Version: 5.26.0
Operating System: Linux 4.8.0-27-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 16.10

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Had a file browser open, trying to look at why .Xauthority had issues on this
particular user account (original - already existed when upgraded from 16.04
==> 16.10).

Originally, try to login to existing user, get black screen.

Removing .Xauthority (left from previous version?) allowed me to actually login
to desktop, but now trying to do anything seems to crash it.

Creating a NEW user (did not exist before upgrade), I can login fine, but am
having issues with screen tearing/windows don't draw properly/etc.

NOTE: During install, had error message re: unattended upgrade... and when
login via TTY get some error message about auto-unattended upgrade being wrong
version.

[kde] [Bug 372864] New: My best newbie guess: 85% operator error for this repeating crash of non-yast net-mgr.

2016-11-23 Thread Dell

Bug ID: 372864
Summary: My best newbie guess: 85% operator error for this
repeating crash of non-yast net-mgr.
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: delin...@yandex.ru
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: kde5-nm-connection-editor (5.8.2)

Qt Version: 5.6.1
Frameworks Version: 5.26.0
Operating System: Linux 4.4.27-2-default x86_64
Distribution: "openSUSE Leap 42.2"

-- Information about the crash:
- Custom settings of the application:
in attempts to (unnecessarily) force the 'OEM' net-config manager GUI (which
comes with 42.2 for dumb hicks like me) to connect both of my wlan to home
network, and my new ethernet connect simultaneously, when i thought I had
finally found 'the sweet spot' among the settings for each, therein, the field
where my three desired connections were listed began filling with 8 or more
instances of both my wlan connections, repeatedly, multiple instances of my
LAN, as well as every other SSID near me which was detected in scans I never
wanted but am not learned enough yet to prevent without disabling networking
alltogether... then crashing as a result of buffer overflow, if you were
buying me a beer, just to make a newb-guess.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

I agree with Philippe that vgversion.h should be a part of the tarball created
by 'make dist'. This way it is very intuitive and reasonable.

As regards the errors during 'make dist' build you encountered, they are most
probably connected with missing packages for documentation build. See comments
in docs/README which lists some distributions and the required packages.
I will be happy to test 'make dist' for you on Solaris which is working as
well.

Bug ID: 372863
Summary: KDevelop freezes when opening parallel session
   Product: kdevelop

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdevelop-bugs-n...@kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

When I open a second (parallel) KDevelop session, the program seems to enter an
infinite loop. The window contents aren't updated (no draw refresh), my CPU
goes to 100% and I can only kill KDevelop forcefully.

To gather some debug information, I started KDevelop and then ran a second
instance in a different session (kdevelop -s othersession) via GDB.

The following is printed to the console:

Starting program: /usr/bin/kdevelop -s kdevelop

Reproducible in 15.12. Also I note that (related) files can't be moved using

[kdevelop] [Bug 372842] restore file tree state after startup

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372842

would indeed be nice, but I think I looked into this a couple of years ago
quickly. the problem is that everything is done async there, we load
potentially multiple projects at startup, and then need to restore the state
"eventually", while the user may interact with the tree in-between. I didn't
come up with a good solution back then so didn't implement anything.
suggestions welcome

[kate] [Bug 372862] New: Add .cpp syntax highlighting to .ino files

2016-11-23 Thread Rafael Bachmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372862

Bug ID: 372862
Summary: Add .cpp syntax highlighting to .ino files
   Product: kate
   Version: 16.08
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: task
  Priority: NOR
 Component: syntax
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: mediumend...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 102426
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=102426=edit
adapted c syntax highlighting file for arduino sketches

The .ino extension is used for arduino sketches which basically contain c++
code that pretty much looks like c with a builtin bool type. The Arduino IDE
has some syntax highlighting but is quite useless as a text editor.

I have attached a simple edit of the c.xml syntax highlighting file from here:

https://kate-editor.org/syntax/5.28/

I hope this can be improved upon and maybe added to the long list of supported
highlighting styles. If there is anything I can do to improve the syntax
highlighting, let me know.

The crash occurs at line

assert(pselect(0, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, (sigset_t *)12) == -1);

RHEL 4 does not handle bad address by returning EFAULT

If the goal is to have pselect fail, can the test be replace with

assert(pselect(-1, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL) == -1);
assert(errno == EINVAL);

These changes work on RHEL 4, 5 and 6.

Log when MTP connects and disconnects

Hello,

MTP works fine on Nautilus, but I'm trying to use MTP on Dolphin 16.08.2 and
it's very buggy : 5% of the time, it just works, and 95% of the time I have a
strange behaviour : my phone connects, and suddently disconnect 10ms later,
then connect again... and so on. The little usb notification does the same
thing : it says that the phone is connecting after a pops'up, and then sudently
disapears... and so on. Sometimes after a while it stop blinking, and I can use
it, but it's very randomly.

I've attached the logs in /var/log/syslog.

Thank you for your help,

tobiasBora.

[konversation] [Bug 372857] New: First space eaten at beginning of line if formatting is used

2016-11-23 Thread Fuchs
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372857

Bug ID: 372857
Summary: First space eaten at beginning of line if formatting
is used
   Product: konversation
   Version: frameworks
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: ircview
  Assignee: argo...@gmail.com
  Reporter: deve...@fuchsnet.ch
CC: konversation-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

When colour codes or other formatting is used at the beginning of a line, the
first space is eaten.

Steps to reproduce:

Write three lines, each consisting of a space and then the letter X.
Use colour codes for foreground and fg/background in the second and third, e.g.

" X^O"
"^C04 X^O"
"^C04,03 X^O"

They all should have an equal length.
However, the two lines with colour codes only show the X and not the space in
front of it.

The same happens with the control code for bold.

It's also only the first space and only at the beginning of a line.
If you e.g. write a colour code, three spaces and a letter, only two spaces
will be printed.

This also happens for incoming text, not only the one you write.

[konsole] [Bug 372855] New: Shift+Alt+click resets the scrollbar

2016-11-23 Thread Kevin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372855

Bug ID: 372855
   Summary: Shift+Alt+click resets the scrollbar
   Product: konsole
   Version: 16.08.2
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: keyboard
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: kjs...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

To reproduce:

1) Make a bunch of newlines so that you can scroll up a bit.
2) Press and hold "Shift", now press "Alt" (the order is important!). Now
release the keys in either order.
3) Now click somewhere in the text.
4) After clicking, Konsole will scroll down to the bottom for some reason. I
don't think Konsole should do this.

This can be annoying if you're trying to copy-paste stuff out of Konsole and
one of your global hotkeys includes Shift+Alt.

I read text lines from top to bottom.
Maybe I missed a config setting somewhere but my ekos and indi control panel
logging windows are to be read from bottom to top.
That is the newest entries are on top. Highly annoying.
Is this a config setting somewhere ? And if not can it please be made one ?
Thanks :)

The histogram scale can be changed from its default 'Linear' setting to
'Logarithmic' and after clicking 'apply' the histogram gets updated. So far so
good.
Changing back to 'Linear' and clicking 'apply' however does not work.

Furthermore setting it *again* to 'Logarithmic' and clicking 'apply' gives an
even stranger result where the histogram moves right even further. This can be
repeated a few times.

I'm not sure the bug is in kwin so please fix it if you know where it should
be.

In system with RTL lang as main lang, programs without lang translation (of the
system lang) reverse the UI to RTL

These programs should to be LTR direction...

For verified I check it on:
GTK program (zeal, uget)
Qt program (QtCreator)
And I also verified that they don't have empty Hebrew translation file.

If I excuse the program with "LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=en" OR with "--reverse"
there LTR direction

On KDE application isn't happens

Dolphin 17.03.70
Plasma 5.8.90
Frameworks 5.29.0
Qt 5.7.0

The problem is best reproduced in dolphin filemanager.

A remote share (owncloud) mounted with davfs2 seems to be treated as local
filesystem.
Therfore the setting "don't create thumbnails for remote files bigger than.."
is not honored and previews of files and folders are being created.

Deactivating folder previews works as quickfix for the critical situations but
files bigger than 10 MB still completely stall dolphin.

The davfs2 option "gui_optimize" also improves the situation a little bit but
the problem remains.

Also giving the thumbnailcreator more power did not really help.

/usr/share/kservices5/thumbnail.protocol maxInstances=4

Entering any folder that contains even very small videos almost kills dolphin.
It takes forever until you gain control again.

I just tried on the 5.4.0 appimage, and yes I can reproduce the crash. It seems
less prevalent, as some pictures that constantly crash 5.3.0 don't crash 5.4.0,
but there are still a number of pictures that make it crash.
If it is useful, I can upload pictures that consistently crash both versions.
Also, I am running both in a fresh up-to-date virtual machine of KDE Neon x64.

This has been a minor nuisance but it happens often enough I felt the need to
suggest this.

If I let go of my mouse to start typing, and my mouse happens to be at the
bottom of the screen, one of the task manager preview boxes pops up and covers
up what I'm trying to type. I propose that these previews be hidden if there
is any keyboard input.

This happens surprisingly often

The problem is best described by example.. I recorded a short gif here:

[krusader] [Bug 354503] Krusader adds space at the beginning of some files/dirs while ftp to AIX FTP servers, which makes it unable to enter these directories

2016-11-23 Thread Alex Bikadorov
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354503

Well, I cannot reproduce this with a standard FTP server (tested with vsftpd).
Do you know of one that shows this bug and is publicly accessible?

And
>Can you please check if this also happens with Dolphin.

This is important. It is maybe not a Krusader issue at all.

Descriptions defined in metadata.desktop of SDDM themes can be very long. For

work of Roman Shtylman & Nuno Pinheiro

Such a long text breaks the GridLayout in src/qml/main.qml (see attached

[marble] [Bug 372843] New: Voice navigation improperly configured for audio output (Instructions passed to phonon instead of file URL)

2016-11-23 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372843

Bug ID: 372843
Summary: Voice navigation improperly configured for audio
output (Instructions passed to phonon instead of file
URL)
   Product: marble
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: marble-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: rinaldor...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Overview:

Instead of audio file url, the instruction is being passed to the phonon output
and this makes it not play the voice instructions.

I think this is actually a feature bug which directly hinders the voice
navigation ability of marble.

Build date: Today, on Linux. (Compiled from source in GitHub, KDE/marble -
master branch)

Bug location:
For your notice,

https://github.com/KDE/marble/blob/master/src/plugins/render/routing/AudioOutput.cpp

This is the source file where the potential bug resides. In line 87 as of now.
For convenience,

void AudioOutputPrivate::playInstructions()
{
setupAudio();
if ( m_output ) {
m_output->enqueue( QUrl::fromLocalFile( m_voiceNavigation.instruction()
) );
m_output->play();
}
}

VoiceNavigation.cpp gives not the url, but the instruction as per the
definition in
https://github.com/KDE/marble/blob/master/src/lib/marble/routing/VoiceNavigationModel.cpp
- line 407 as of now.

QString VoiceNavigationModel::instruction() const
{
return d->m_announcementText;
}
Expected output: Audio instructions need to played as per directions.
Current output: None. Audio doesn't play because audio file url is not
received. Only instruction is received as such.

   Product: kdevelop
   Version: 5.0.2
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: file tree
  Assignee: kdevelop-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: olaf.the.lost.vik...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

When starting KDevelop it restores the last session state ("sub"windows, open
files, etc.) which is great (and kind of mandatory for an IDE ;-) ). But the
file tree in the projects panel is always in the default state (collapsed to
the root element).

It'd be nice, if its state could also be restored upon opening a KDevelop
session so resuming work at a specific part of a (huge/deep) hierarchy is
easier.

[digikam] [Bug 354232] Lens information is always "unavailable" for Pentax K-S1 images

2016-11-23 Thread Olaf
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354232

It worked with the Win64.exe with Windows 10 in a virtual box- the lens ist
shown.
It did not work with the x86-64.appimage with clean install of Kubuntu 16.04 in
a virtual box. Digikam 5.4.0 starts, but the lens type is "not available".

[umbrello] [Bug 372841] New: Unexpected edit functionality for state diagram.

2016-11-23 Thread Ken Standard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372841

Bug ID: 372841
Summary: Unexpected edit functionality for state diagram.
   Product: umbrello
   Version: 2.20.2 (KDE Applications 16.08.2)
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: umbrello-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: ad...@arrl.net
  Target Milestone: ---

When adding a state transition from one state to another, the transition line
is always in straight line mode. There is no option to use curved lines or edit
the shape of the line to draw around objects.

So when there is a transition from one state to another then back again you get
the two straight lines snapped on top of one another and they cannot be
separated or moved.

There is no ability to select the transitions in the property window so only
the last added is select-able.

The expectation is to be able to add more than one transition to the same
object without overlap. And to have the ability to select each to edit
properties. Also, it would help to be able to grab and move the transition
lines much as you can do with association lines in the class diagram.

[kmail2] [Bug 372840] New: Shortcuts does not work well with kmail 5.3.90 beta1

2016-11-23 Thread luisfe
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372840

Bug ID: 372840
Summary: Shortcuts does not work well with kmail 5.3.90 beta1
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.3.44 pre (QtWebEngine)
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: commands and actions
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: lui...@lftabera.es
  Target Milestone: ---

Configuration:

kmail 5.3.90 beta1
frameworks 5.28
Plasma/5.8
Applications/16.12 beta
Qt 5.7.0

Shortcuts do not work well, I have detected two errors:

I have mapped:
Select All Messages: Ctrl+A
Select All Text: Ctrl+Shift+A

However, in a folder both Ctrl+A and Ctrl+Shift+A do the same action, select
all the text of current message. This happen either if Kmail is run as
standalone or as a part of kontact.

Also in the shortcut configuration, there were two Delete options with the same
name, one mapped to Del and the other to Shift+Del. Shift+Del does nothing.

I remapped Shift+Del to "Delete Message" and the second "delete" option has
disappeared from the list of shortcuts.

If I click a message, in the message list it appears with a light blue
background and black font. Del moves the message to trash and Shift+Del does
nothing.

If I ckick again on the same selected message, in the message list it appears
with a darker blue background and the font changes to white. In this case Del
moves the message to trash and Shift+Del deletes the message.
