Thanks for the pointer, the bug marked as a duplicate made me take a look at
the packages installed around font rendering. The issue came down to a patched
cairo version, not infinality. I'll report to the patched package maintainer
and revert back to vanilla cairo for now.

Didn't think this bug would get triaged that quickly.

[kdeconnect] [Bug 379023] New: Feature request: Select ringtone for "find my phone" function

2017-04-20 Thread gizmochicken
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379023

Bug ID: 379023
Summary: Feature request: Select ringtone for "find my phone"
function
   Product: kdeconnect
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Android 6.x
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: android-application
  Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: gizmochic...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Currently, when using the "find my phone" function, the phone rings using the
standard (non-group) ringtone.

If possible, I'd like to be able to assign a specific ringtone for use with the
"find my phone" function (and for use with any other function that is currently
set to use the standard (non-group) ringtone).

Use case: Because I get so many spam calls, I often set my standard
(non-group) ringtone to "silent" and assign different (audible) ringtone to my
"contacts" group. This way, my phone only rings when a white-listed contact
calls me. At least here in the US, spam calls have become so rampant that many
of us now use this approach. But of course, with this setup, because it
currently rings a "silent" ringtone, the "find my phone" function isn't
terribly useful. So being able to select a custom ringtone for use with the
"find my phone" function would be very helpful.

Sorry, I don't know. It is not provided in the Kubuntu Backports PPA. You can
try to get it from KDE Neon, but I suspect you will need a whole bunch of deps
including QtWebEngine, so you might be better off directly trying Neon (or
another distribution) if this is important for you.

Unfortunately, Kubuntu is not as up-to-date as it has been. It seems the
version of KDE PIM provided in Zetsy is from KDE Applications 16.04, so from a
year ago. The latest version of Kmail is 5.4.3 (with an imminent update with
KDE Applications 17.04).

Using the feedback from this bug, it seems to have been fixed around KDE
Applications 16.08 (Kmail 5.3.0).

An example, if I have 10 browser windows open and one of them is playing audio,
I would expect the specific window that is producing sound to have the "playing

user wouldn't know which application is producing sound, however it would be
far more likely they wouldn't know which window of an application is producing
sound.

[krecipes] [Bug 379019] New: Krecipes crashes after importing recipes

2017-04-20 Thread Annemette
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379019

Bug ID: 379019
Summary: Krecipes crashes after importing recipes
   Product: krecipes
   Version: 2.1.0
  Platform: Mint (Ubuntu based)
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: krecipes-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: kubu...@gmx.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: krecipes (2.1.0)
KDE Platform Version: 4.14.16
Qt Version: 4.8.7
Operating System: Linux 4.4.0-21-generic x86_64
Distribution: Linux Mint 18 Sarah

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed: importing recipes, either one
at a time or whole database with 26 recipes. Some times one recipe or the whole
list appears in the list of recipes, but when clicking on the name of the
recipe to show itindetail, Krecipes crashes. Invariably. I installed it on
LinuxMint 18 XCFE, and told Synaptic to treat recommended packages as
dependencies. Using MySql database. have a working instance of Korganizer on
same computer, that functions well enough.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Screenshot of 100% CPU

I have been trying to view an email in past 2 hours without a success.

I'm trying to see my gmail Inbox via IMAP. I'm using kmail 16.12.3, I can
barely finish throught the account wizard before my system becomes very
sluggish and akonadi & mysql are pegging my CPU at 100%. My computer has been
running very slow for past 2 hours producing wasteful heat and annoying noise.

I have 134 emails in my inbox and 50,000 emails from mesa/xorg/dri maillists
residing in their own folder in gmail.

Why is KMail deciding to jump the ship and keep downloading all messages
without my consent? Why can't I decide on my own and tell KMail Y/N whether to
download all messages after I finish the account creation. KMail's UI is very
unresponsive, I'm hitting the Inbox label but nowthing heppens, I don't know
what it is really doing and when it will finish (if ever).

I don't know whether I'm doing something wrong or not. I don't know any other
way to use KMail.

Thank you.

If I turn the monitors off, and then on again, even in a short time, so hence,
no lock screen, this will cause Krita to crash.

This occurs with the current Krita 3.1.3-beta.1 appimage.

Version: 5.4.90 rc1 (missing in version selection)

Akregator seems to remember cookies only for the current tab. When you open a
site for the first time you get the whole "we are using cookies blah blah"
thanks to EU law. This happens on every new tab I open in Akregator.

Example: Read something by opening a new tab e.g. https://www.extremetech.com/
you see the quite intrusive cookie message. Close the tab open it again and you
get the same cookie message again even when you closed it before.

I created a new user and still have this problem.

I run live-git plasma and frameworks via the gentoo/kde overlay, and saw this
on the plasma-devel list, which I follow.

The NatGeo PotD module seems to be broken, ATM, and doesn't work for me either.
=:^(

AFAIK, the change is on the NatGeo side, probably either a change to their POTD
URL/page so the plasma natgeo-potd module doesn't pick it up any longer, or
possibly it's their firewall interpreting all these automated update queries as
abuse and blocking them based on for instance number of queries within N hours
from the same IP address (would still work for new users for a short time), or
on useragent (would be broken for all plasma users), or something else from the
queries they can log and block.

I hope it can be updated to fix the problem, but if it is indeed a NatGeo
firewall block, any fix is likely to be temporary, unless it's actually
coordinated with the NatGeo website folks.

But FWIW, the bing PotD is now working. When I first noticed it, attempting to
select and apply would crash plasmashell and attempting to restart would would
only crash it again, until the config file was manually edited to point to
something other than the bing potd. I saw a recent commit that said it should
fix that, and indeed, now the bing potd actually works. =:^)

Well at least you know it's not only you, now.

OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

I'm using newest KDE Neon 5.9.4.
My Spectacle version is 16.12.3-0neon+16.04+build31.
kipi-plugins - 4:5.4.0-0neon+16.04+build14.
gwenview - 4:16.12.3-0neon+16.04+build26.

I installed kipi-plugins from APT.
In gwenview their are visible and I can export image to many online services.
In Spectacle this options aren't visible in "Export image".

It was working as supposed in latest Manjaro KDE. I was able to use

Frameworks Version: 5.33.0
Operating System: Linux 4.10.10-1-ARCH x86_64
Distribution: "Arch Linux"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I just clicked on the desktop toolbox, the little box in the top left corner of
the screen by default. I updated all the packages on my system, rebooted,
logged in, try to click the toolbox again and plasmashell crashed again. It
doesn't really bother me because I don't use it, I was just curious about it
today after it was mentionned on reddit.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Seems to be broken in 1.7:

I have 1.7 compiled and running on Archlinux (all updates applied).
server-time-iso support isn't working when connected to my znc server. Hexchat
also supports server-time-iso and it's working fine there.

[frameworks-kconfigwidgets] [Bug 379009] New: Mac: working around an undesirable multihead/Mission Control/fullscreen side-effect?

2017-04-20 Thread RJVB
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379009

Bug ID: 379009
Summary: Mac: working around an undesirable multihead/Mission
Control/fullscreen side-effect?
   Product: frameworks-kconfigwidgets
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: OS X
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: rjvber...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---
 Flags: Brainstorm+

Sorry, long text. This is an issue that requires some background information...

Long-time Mac users with external/multiple screens may be aware of an IMHO
undesirable side-effect that occurs when you chose the more common (?)
configuration for virtual desktops ("Spaces") where each desktop (Space) spans
all available screens, and switching happens simultaneously on all screens.
Apple implement their native fullscreen mode using a temporary "Space" on which
the window is then maximised. It will occupy all of the screen on which it
already lived, but the temporary Space spans all screens, effectively blacking
them out.

This does not happen in the default Mission Control mode where screens have
separate Spaces (and each screen a menubar). In that configuration the native
fullscreen behaviour works exactly as you'd expect (with a time-consuming,
useless animation thrown in for good measure): making a window fullscreen on
any given screen doesn't affect the content being displayed on other screens.

This wouldn't be much of an issue if the screensHaveSeparateSpaces property
could be toggled with immediate effect, but in practice you have to log off and
back in again. Not very practical if you want to watch a fullscreen video while
keeping an eye on your email client displayed on a secondary screen, or if you
want to maximise an IDE for a complex edit in a huge file but still be able to
look up documentation say in a web browser running on another screen.

There is no difficulty implementing a standard fullscreen algorithm that simply
puts the target window in frameless mode and sizes it to cover a complete
screen. This can be done with a few Qt calls, and doesn't require any
undocumented native SDK calls or hacks.

In fact, Qt 5.8.0 and earlier implemented such an algorithm as a fallback for
windows lacking the fullscreen titlebar button
(`Qt::WindowFullscreenButtonHint` unset). It seems that Qt's PoV has changed
with v5.9.0 that such an alternative fullscreen is "non-platform behaviour" and
thus to be proscribed; if "we" want it "we" just have to roll our own
algorithm. That wouldn't be a big deal in a context of a few individual
applications, but it's a bit different in the context of KF5 frameworks that
aim to extend Qt with additions which improve user and/or developer experience
one way or another - including an "enter/exit fullscreen" KStandardAction.

Would there be an open-minded attitude towards propositions to introduce an
optional "simple, basic" fullscreen mode that makes windows fullscreen by
resizing and removing decoration?

The way I see it:
- this is not "non-platform behaviour" as the main and intended effect is the
same (window is displayed occupying all of its current screen) and it requires
no hacking
- this provides a consistent fullscreen experience on multi-head set-ups,
across Mission Control configurations but also across platforms
- screens not occupied by a fullscreen window remain usable as usual
- yay, no waiting for a pointless animation (1s nominal, more if the system is
stressed)
- this avoids running into what's probably an OS X bug (creating a new window
in a fullscreen'ed application replaces the window that was made fullscreen and
causes the latter to go MIA without closing it properly.

I have a working PoC implementation in a personal fork of Qt's 5.9.0RC Cocoa
platform plugin (which overrides the standard QPA) but I'd prefer to keep the
changes in that fork as low as possible.

Kate active text view painted grey, with no possibility to interact with it.

I'm running kate on Kubuntu 16.04.2 LTS. At times, when resuming a previous
session, kate will initially paint the views as completely blank areas in grey
color, as shown in attachment, with no possibility to interact with the text
contained in them.

If more than one view is open when the reported behavior occurs, sliding the
separator between an active view and an inactive one can force kate to paint
both views properly. After this, behavior is normal. If only one view is active
at the moment, there's no way to recover.

The bug may be related to the way view information is stored/retrieved into
session data.

[kdenlive] [Bug 379007] New: ffmpeg integration fails on first launch

2017-04-20 Thread Rasmus Schultz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379007

Bug ID: 379007
Summary: ffmpeg integration fails on first launch
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 16.12.1
  Platform: Other
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Installation
  Assignee: vpi...@kde.org
  Reporter: ras...@mindplay.dk
  Target Milestone: ---

The first time kdenlive is launched, the ffmpeg integration fails.

Attempting to open any video clip (via the "Add Clip" dialog or by dragging and
dropping) triggers the following message appears:

"Clip is invalid, will be removed from project"

This error message isn't very helpful, but it's also wrong - there is nothing
wrong with the clip, it's the integration with ffmpeg which appears to be
failing.

These are the exact steps to reproduce this bug.

Step 1: Follow the exact installation instructions on the download page to the
point - as of today, that means downloading the following:

https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/win64/shared/ffmpeg-3.2.2-win64-shared.zip

http://mirrors.dotsrc.org/kde-applicationdata/kdenlive/release/Kdenlive-16.12.1-w64.zip

I unpacked kdenlive to a folder in the root of my harddrive, to make sure I
avoid any potential issues with permissions.

I unpacked all files from the "bin" folder of the ffmpeg archive into the
kdenlive installation folder.

I unpacked the "presets" folder into the kdenlive installation folder.

Step 2: Launch the application.

Upon first launching the application, any attempt to add a video clip fails
with an error message as described above.

Step 3: Close the application and launch it again.

Adding the same video clips now works without problems.

I was able to reproduce the issue following these steps on two distinct
systems, both running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

Best guess, the app is doing some kind of internal configuration the first time
it sees the ffmpeg binaries - but it needs this information to actually launch
correctly, and doesn't have that information in place until you launch the app
for the second time.

[plasmashell] [Bug 379006] New: When KWallet unlocks automatically and programs re-open on boot, programs open before KWallet gets unlocked

2017-04-20 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379006

Bug ID: 379006
Summary: When KWallet unlocks automatically and programs
re-open on boot, programs open before KWallet gets
unlocked
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.9.4
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: pointedst...@zoho.com
CC: bhus...@gmail.com, plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Distro: openSUSE Tumbleweed
DE: KDE Plasma 5.9.4

Steps to reproduce:
1. Turn on KWallet's auto-unlocking:
- Make sure your login password the KWallet password match
- Install the PAM KWallet package for your distro (pam_kwallet on openSUSE)
- Edit /etc/pam.d/sddm according to
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KDE_Wallet
2. Store your wifi password in your KWallet
3. Open Firefox and browse the web
4. Restart the machine while Firefox is still open

Expected results:
- By the time Firefox launches, KWallet is unlocked and I'm connected to my
Wifi network.

Actual results:
- Firefox opens before KWallet unlocks and has supplied the wifi module with
the password; Firefox thinks there's no network connection and has to be
restarted before pages will load.

[plasmashell] [Bug 378032] Remember history of notifications like on KDE4

I'd just like to comment and say that I also want permanent notifications
option because I want to use an email notifier tool that sends notifications
but not having the ability to check what notifications have happened makes it
worthless.

I do think it should be an option and there could be a need for a redesign of
how it functions.

My Suggestion:
1. Leave the notification area the same size it is now.
2. Add option for permanent notifications.
3. Add a "Manage Notifications" (or something) button.
4. Open new window that contains all of the notifications that have been marked
as permanent, organized by the application that initiated the notification.

I can do a design mockup of this idea, if interested.
