Honestly I don't know either, but it sounds like it's a window manager thing
then, not related to the Task Manager - the Task Manager just tells the window
manager "please unminimize" ...

Disabling root access in dolphin is security theater and does nothing to

If an interface has a top level View menu, and menu items which toggle the

The current location of the sidebar menu entry is not ideal if only looking at
Gwenview, but for the sake of consistency with other applications I'd actually
keep them as is (e.g. Dolphin and Kate have theirs split similarly between
"View" and "Settings"). On the other hand, Okular is a counterexample.

Could we base the placement decision on other characteristics (e.g. "View" menu
for content related entries, "Settings" menu for everything relating to
chrome)? Unfortunately, that's also not very clear-cut in this case.

Let's just keep it as is, as to not confuse users with mysteriously moving menu
entries.

Ok, I am sorry. I changed the wrong config file the whole time. My bad!
Adding the line works good for me! Thank you (also for the good explanation of
the problem).
But maybe it should be default. As far as I know the most Monitors nowadays are
working with at least 60hz (except theese new fancy 144hz gaming monitors).

Hello, thanks for the fast answer.
I added the line 'stabilizerDelayedPaintInterval=16' to my kritarc-file in
\Appdata\Local\krita but I can't see or feel any changes. I also tried diffrent
values for testing (2, 4, 64 and  250) and restarted Krita after every change
in the config file but it always looks and feels like before. I don't think the
line changes anything.
this is weird. Maybe the problem is my system (graphics card)?

Whenever KDE starts up the panel items on the top panel are rearranged. Even if
I lock the widgets, the clock and system tray still move to the left instead of
staying to the right. I usually remove the panel shadow on the top panel. The
widgets that are on the top panel include: Digital Clock, System Tray, Active
Window Control, and Global Menu. If it helps I have Active Window Control set
to remove the window border when it is maximized and also dynamically change
size. I do not have any bug information for this because KDE does not seem to
recognize this as a bug. I am running KDE Manjaro which is Arch-based. I am
running Manjaro from the stable branch.

You can add or remove Digikam tags, and that works well, but in the end when
you re-read meta data from file, the original tags (pre Digikam) are still

Under Windows that's the same behaviour.
I've seen that with JPG files the data are retained while with NEF files the

BTW, I am using Dolphin 4.13.3, via kubuntu 14.04 

(I am back to 14.04 because the kate & kwrite that come with 16.04 require at
least a 4 core CPU to work acceptably on large files -- large files are not a
problem with the kate & kwrite that come with 14.04.  Yes there is a posted bug
for this problem, https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=378579 To solve my
problem quickly, it was easier for me to revert to 14.04, and assemble 4 core
CPU desktop systems & acquire 4 core CPU laptops at my leisure.)

I'm using 4:5.5.0-zesty~ppa1 from
https://launchpad.net/~philip5/+archive/ubuntu/extra on Kubuntu 17.04. I've
just upgraded.

On opening everything seems to be working normally except that a lot of people
tags are missing. They're missing from the interface but can still be assigned,
and (in some cases) found on photos - they're like ghost tags. The tags are
those that have been around the longest, they're all my most used ones that are
nested eg: Family > Jones > Pappa Jones.

So I could still tag "Pappa Jones" and it's still suggested in the tag tree, it
comes up as Tags > ... , but it doesn't appear in the People tags or in the
normal tag view. Searching for the tag doesn't find anything but I can locate
an image and the tag is on it (I can't check all images there are thousands).

Ok, just checked with Simon 0.4.1 on Windows. Can confirm it. Looks like a
problem to write a file name with other chars then ASCII ones. That's my
current guess. Need to dig into the code to see where and how we create this
wav files.

There's no need to keep the version number low to help find the issue by giving
the first breaking version.

The problem is getting anyone at KDE to notice that a core feature of a flag
ship part of the suite is broken. And has been for years.
Saying it's a bug in the latest version helps there I think.

And could you try to create a file named with the arabic word in the folder the
error message mentions. Either windows can't create these kind of files or

"Switch Desktop on Edge" does not respect the desktop layout. Always Enable
assumes you want to use all four edges to switch desktops. In a 4x1 or anything
x1 layout, top and bottom screen edges have nothing to switch to and should not
be active (as it worked in KDE4).

Expected behavior: top and bottom edges NOT enabled for 1 row of desktops; left
and right edges NOT enabled if rows=desktops.

That's a pretty specific error. Are you sure the laptop can reach the Windows
PC? (try to ping it).

When I have dolphin open and am searching for files and have two tabs open (one
with search and one somewhere else) when I close the second tab that's
somewhere else the whole program crashes. This is not a rare occurrence either.
This happens every time that I perform this action. My version is 17.04.1. Here

I think you are referring to Akregator (RSS feed) icon, which looks like wifi
icon tilted by 45 degrees. This is an icon provided by Breeze, not by

I have other longer files that Amarok doesn't play either (more than 10 minutes
long).

Hello! 

I have a two contours (sun contour and shadow contour). The contours differ
from each other only by the order of the bypass. So first contour fill the
first half of the Earth, the second remaining. But i can't specify the
orientation of contour. As a result, these two contours lie on each other and
fill only first half of earth.

I have investigated the problem a bit further and was not able to reproduce the
issue on another machine. 

Seems, that I had a window rule installed that had "ignore requested geometry"
set to force/true. After removing this, the task manager works as expected. 

Is this still a bug then, or should we close this as invalid? I am not sure
what "ignore requested geometry" actually does in this context.

This reproduces exactly on a fresh install of Fedora 25 in a VM for me so I do
not think it is specific to my install or system.

For what it is worth I tried to get more information via gdb but it just runs

I think it's much easier for someone familiar with the kdevelop code to add
some useful debug info, start kdevelop and do a rebase on the linux tree.

Don't abort if the tile directory has the wrong size

This allows us to at least load the file referenced in

which is incomaptible with xcf version v0003, but still carries
that version number. Now it loads in krita... But no guarantees
about 2.9 files. Mostly, they will still crash krita because
the xcftools library aborts hard on encountering a problem, which
we cannot prevent.

Okay, it's worse than I thought. The new gimp 2.9 file format is now
incompatible with XCF v0003, but the Gimp developers haven't increased the
version number, so that cannot be detected. Both gimp 2.8 and krita think that
this is a gimp file, but cannot load it. Krita aborts on this file because the
xcftools library aborts the process if it encounters a malformed xcf file,
instead of returning an error code.

This really should be reported as a bug with the gimp project, because changing
the file format but then not changing the version number is really bad.
