[Discover] [Bug 389443] New: Ubuntu 17.10, unstable System Settings application
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389443 Bug ID: 389443 Summary: Ubuntu 17.10, unstable System Settings application Product: Discover Version: 5.10.5 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Keywords: drkonqi Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: discover Assignee: aleix...@kde.org Reporter: moili...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Application: plasma-discover (5.10.5) Qt Version: 5.9.1 Frameworks Version: 5.38.0 Operating System: Linux 4.13.0-31-lowlatency x86_64 Distribution: Ubuntu 17.10 -- Information about the crash: Currently, System Settings keep crashing after clicking almost any buttons. E.g. 1. click Desktop Behavior; 2. click Desktop Effects --> crash. Just directly clicking on Workspace Theme also leads to a crash. But e.g. changing settings under Window Management does not seem to lead to a crash. Earlier I fetched some themes using the System Settings and activated one. Though I cannot use System Settings now to check the situation. Not sure if related, but my screen saver also keep crashing, requiring to unlock session from virtual console. The crash can be reproduced every time. -- Backtrace: Application: Discover (plasma-discover), signal: Aborted Using host libthread_db library "/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libthread_db.so.1". https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=343325 --- Comment #1 from Safa Alfulaij--- I was looking into something in KI18n and found out this “Dynamic context”[1]. I think if we use these contexts and allow translators to have as many as they want, to later on define which one to use in Plasma notifications for example, that would be much better than a dedicated string for completion, or maybe incompletion, etc etc. 1: https://api.kde.org/frameworks/ki18n/html/prg_guide.html#dyn_ctxt -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[gwenview] [Bug 297853] Smooth scroll of thumbnails
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=297853 --- Comment #5 from Holger--- @Nate Which version has this been implemented? 17.04.3 is as jumpy as ever. To get the full effect, just enlarge the thumbnails to 256x256 pixel. Only briefly touching the scroll wheel will jump 3 rows at a time, which is more than half a Full-HD monitor. This is far beyond any definition of smooth scrolling. As a workaround, I use the keyboard, to jump only a single row at a time. This still isn't smooth, but a lot better than 3 lines. Maybe you confused this bug with the single line preview bar under the display of the current picture? There is some kind of smooth scrolling implemented, but the thumbnail-overview is not fixed. Please reopen. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[juk] [Bug 389372] Version 3.12. Crash on startup
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389372 --- Comment #3 from Michael Pyne--- According to https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Linux_Mint, Linux Mint mostly uses Ubuntu packages. So the question is really what the Ubuntu package name is for juk's debug symbols. So for that, according to https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/juk, the package name is "juk-dbgsym", so that seems to be what you'd want to install (with apt-get or otherwise) in order to get better backtraces. A temporary error condition with SMB makes sense as a cause of the crash, though that doesn't help too much on narrowing it down. [plasmashell] [Bug 389028] KDE randomly locks up
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389028 bk...@gnu.org changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |INVALID --- Comment #5 from bk...@gnu.org --- I can now confirm it is a nouveau driver issue. By switching to Nvidia, the desktop has become stable. However, despite the fact the lockup is triggered by a graphics engine fault (and you-all can't do much about that), there are some things KDE can do to make life easier on the victims. Presumably, I cannot use Ctl-Alt-Shift-F1/PageUp/PageDown because keyboard events are all delivered to a non-responsive thread. You could add a watchdog timer thread that would restart KDE after a sufficiently long time. Viz., if the keyboard events remain untouched for a few seconds, it's likely something pretty bad is going on. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389437 Bug ID: 389437 Summary: Dolphin does not deal well with a file that is visible on two places via a hardlink and that is moved onto itself Product: dolphin Version: 17.12.1 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: bugh...@gluino.name CC: elvis.angelac...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Suppose you have A/F1.txt and B/F1.txt Both files are backed by the same inode. If you move A/F1.txt into directory B, Dolphin pops up a dialog saying: "The action will overwrite the destination". Click on "Overwrite". [dolphin] [Bug 389436] New: RFE: Dolphin's "Overwrite Dialog" should indicate whether hashsum of source and target files match
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389436 Bug ID: 389436 Summary: RFE: Dolphin's "Overwrite Dialog" should indicate whether hashsum of source and target files match Product: dolphin Version: 17.12.1 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: bugh...@gluino.name CC: elvis.angelac...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 110122 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=110122=edit Example of current Dialog generated by Dolphin When a file named "X" is moved into a folder that already contains a file named "X", dolphin pops up a dialog notifying the user that "this action will overwrite the destination". The dialog indicates the size of the source and target. Unfortunately, the size may not carry enough information for the user to make an informed decision. In particular, the size of the two files may be identical, and the files may still differ. The "Modify Date", although shown, may be confusing or wrong. Improvement: Help the user out by indicating that the MD5 sum of left and right files match (evidently, if the size doens't match, this does not need to be computed) MD5 hash is sufficient here because one is not working in a context in which a weak hash is of relevance. One just want a fast hashing algorithm. For large files computing the MD5 sum may be expensive. Thus, for files above a certain size (which should be configurable), the dialog could offer the option to compute the MD5 sum on demand (by clicking a button) instead of computing it outright. The "Apply to All" option would continue to not care about MD5 hashsums of the files. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389405 --- Comment #3 from Martin Flöser--- Unfortunately that's mostly out of our control. I would love to be able to control it, because it would mean we can do sane things. But the ICCCM standard describes what a window manager is allowed to do: "To indicate that the size and position of the window (when a transition from the Withdrawn state occurs) was specified by the user, the client should set the USPosition and USSize flags, which allow a window manager to know that the user specifically asked where the window should be placed or how the window should be sized and that further interaction is superfluous. To indicate that it was specified by the client without any user involvement, the client should set PPosition and PSize ." The idea is that for a user specified position the window manager does not "improve" the position. Unfortunately many windows set it although it's not user specified. We could ignore it, but then we would get bug reports about windows opening at random position and not at the last one. With other words: we are in a position where we always lose. On Wayland the situation is improved, there KWin positions the windows - always. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Something like: int func() { // Show this variable as 'hex' by default /// kdbg(format:hex) int a1 = 0x20; // Show this variable as 'binary' by default, filling the left side with 0's /// kdbg(format:bin,fill:'0') int a2 = 127; // Show this float variable with no exponent but with 9 significant digits /// kdbg(notation:noexp,digits:9) float a3 = 0.04; ... } I've added a couple other bits of functionality here too such as 0-filling and different formats for float variables. This can be ignored of course. Expanding this a bit more, I would like to be able to write custom views of variables in the debugger, for example being able to view matrices in an actual matrix view. Then this notification mechanism could be used to tell the debugger when to use this custom view.
