[kaffeine] [Bug 405278] [feature request] EPG from xmltv

your script to add to the xmltv file the same display names as DVB-T worked
great and i agree that is lot more clean than trying to workaround and map
things in kaffeine. This way the source xmltv is already fixed and even doing
rescan channels or adding new channels are easy to keep everything working.

Again, thanks for the help and this feature

At least here in Portugal, the EPG data for SD and HD channels are the same, so
using the first one loaded on both versions of the channel is not really a
problem... i do not know if there are places where the data is really different
between those channels

>> Finally, editing the channel, we would have a new drop down list with the

with the problem fixed in the xmltv file, i do not see the need to add this
now, at least for me, it is easier to maintain the map in the script than in
any (one by one) GUI.

But a feature would still be useful, a column in the channel config window to
show what channels already have epg and those that don't. The alternative is to
manually click each channel to find out. in my setup, 62 clicks to find 27
channels with EPG and 35 without

Sadly i do not know how to program, so i can't really helping develop this :)
all i can do is open a new "feature request", if someone wants later to pick
this up (if you agree that this is useful too)

I can confirm that this bug is still present in Plasma 5.15.3. And I don't
think it's limited to dolphin. I have experienced many other applications just
randomly disappearing (process still visible in ps -el but window just gone).
As Patrick mentioned, it happens only under a Wayland session. No problems
under X11. I'm using Arch, with intel graphics.

As I have tried Krita for paintings that requires 5000+ strokes and I tend to
be in the habit of making 20 small strokes rapidly, it seem that Krita speed is
from fast to slow, and I shortened the reason being the undo stack. If I could
have a easy to access clear undo stack, that would make Krita more productive
to use.

I generally use xfce because it runs fast.

When I "sudo apt install kate", it asks me to install 300MB dependent library.
Same for kdiff3, "sudo apt install kdiff3" requires 300MB dependent library
too.

However, "sudo apt install kdiff3-qt" only requires 5MB, which is perfect.

So please provide an APT install package which does not depends on KDE, similar
to kdiff3. Maybe kate-qt???

[kdeplasma-addons] [Bug 395496] Weather applet layout offset to the right and not visible with long city names

2019-03-12 Thread Duncan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395496

Duncan <1i5t5.dun...@cox.net> changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||1i5t5.dun...@cox.net

--- Comment #3 from Duncan <1i5t5.dun...@cox.net> ---
Same problem here for some time, on gentoo, running live-git (live-git ebuilds
from the gentoo/kde overlay) of pretty much everything kde related including
all the frameworks and plasma, thus including kdeplasma-addons.

(In reply to Friedrich W. H. Kossebau from comment #2)
> It is caused by the weather applet being used here inside the systemtray
> popup container, which has a hardcoded(?) aize. While the weather applet now
> (>= Plasma 5.13) assumes it can grow to the size it needs, always trying to
> show e.g. all forecast days.

The apparently hard-coded size does indeed seem to be the problem.

> A fix will need to have the applet adapt to the available size in some way.
>
> No idea yet, needs me to sit down some longer time for it.

The hints here (length of city name and system-tray hard-coded size limits)
*did* suggest a workaround, however, which I can confirm works, having just
tried it after reading this bug. =:^)

Note that there's *TWO* ways to add a weather-report plasmoid, either nested
inside the system-tray plasmoid, which in turn can be placed in a panel (as is
traditional) or directly on the desktop activity (when it's in desktop/widgets
mode, not folderview mode).

Adding it nested in the system-tray is done via simple checkmark in the
system-tray config, and nested in the system-tray is where the popup sizes are
constrained, so this is the problem location.

But, it's also possible (with widgets unlocked) to select add-widgets, either
from the (desktop-mode) desktop config menu, or from the panel config menu,
then in the popup window with all the widgets/plasmoids displayed, scroll
toward the bottom and find the weather report widget/plasmoid, and drag it to
the desired location on the desktop or in the panel.

This second method, adding the weather-report plasmoid directly to the panel
(or desktop if preferred), instead of nesting it inside the system-tray
plasmoid, avoids the popup-window size constraints of the system-tray, thus
avoiding the problem. =:^)

Thanks for the hints that allowed me to figure that out. This had been
frustrating me for quite some time, and now at least I have a workaround while
we wait for a fix to the system-tray nesting constraints, putting it directly
in the panel instead of nested in the system-tray. =:^)

In some cases yes! But other applications have a variable window title like
dolphin or konqueror. So a kind of "--title-prefix=foobar: " which results into
"foobar: " would be great to not lose the ability to regex the original
title! I guess "--title" works with all QWindows right?

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- try remove tab/table and add again - no effect
- try run from konsole - no error messages in shell
- found in strace some strange info about access to config:
  access("/home/Amin/.config/ksysguardrc", X_OK) = -1 EACCES (denied)
But access rights for ksysguardrc and *.sgrd files stay correct -
placed tabs and items remain at tuned positions.
- try deactivate selinux - also no effect

* 4 small wishlist - display units / round bytes to Gb can be option =)

[latte-dock] [Bug 405311] latte-dock icons not showing up

2019-03-12 Thread Michail Vourlakos
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405311

Ok I thought something, this is not icons issue... In the Default layout there
is the plasma analog clock applet that isn't related to icons... This is not

Guides in the UML tool Gaphor

SUMMARY
It would be nice to have guides, that show whether elements are aligned and to
which dragged elements 'snap', i.e. the dragged element stays perfectly aligned
when it gets dragged to a position which roughly aligns with another element.
Another open source UML tool which implements this is Gaphor:
https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.gaphor.Gaphor

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Draw a diagram with many elements
2. Try to perfectly align all elements

OBSERVED RESULT
This is quite hard

EXPECTED RESULT
It should be easy

[kwin] [Bug 404617] KWin Crashes After Waking Up From Sleep

2019-03-12 Thread Arjun Menon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404617

Hi Martin Flöser,

I'll try to look into what I need to do, in order to install debug symbols for
KDE/Plasma on Arch Linux. Sorry for the late response. I had switched to using
Windows for the past few weeks, and just switched back to Arch Linux today.

Out of habit, I ran the command to update all my packages soon after logging
in. It was too late before I remembered that I needed to reproduce this bug. I
ended up with the latest KDE and Plasma packages as a result.

I've only been using Arch Linux for less than a day, but now, instead of KWin
crashing, Plasma is crashing. I created a new bug report for it:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405406

I also want to make a note that sleep/wake on Plasma/KDE was working fine
previously, until November 2018. I had no problems whatsoever with sleep/wake.
I had been exclusively using Arch Linux on my laptop for several months in
2018. My laptop went through many sleep/wake cycles with no issues. I almost
never restarted Linux, or even exited/restarted Plasma. I always just put my
laptop to sleep, and woke up it later.

This problem started after I re-installed Arch Linux in February this year.
There was a period, from November 2018 to February 2019, during which I was
using Windows instead of Linux.

Also, since Arch Linux uses sytemd, my guess is that the underlying command
issued by Plasma for sleeping is probably `systemctl suspend` or something
similar (but I haven't checked the Plasma sources on this though).

Hi Vlad Zagorodniy,

My laptop has an integrated Intel GPU: Intel® UHD Graphics 620. This Intel GPU
is on the CPU die itself. The CPU on my laptop is the Intel Core i7 8550U. Here
is the spec page for the 8550U:
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/122589/intel-core-i7-8550u-processor-8m-cache-up-to-4-00-ghz.html

My laptop also has a dedicated GPU: Nvidia MX150. I have the official
closed-source Nvidia driver on Linux (and not nouveau). But I don't think the
Nvidia MX150 is ever active or being used. I once tried to run a game (0 A.D.)
on the Nvidia GPU using `optirun` (c.f. Nvidia Optimus), but it actually ran
super-slow! Even glxgears ran horribly slow on the Nvidia GPU compared to the
Intel GPU. It's weird because the Nvidia GPU is a lot more powerful than the
Intel GPU. I never investigated and figured out why the Nvidia GPU was
super-slow on Linux.

Why I stopped using Linux from Nov 2018 to Feb 2019

The story of why I had to switch to Windows for 4 months (from Nov '18 to Feb
'19) is a long one, but I'll share it here, for some context. This is a bit
long and rather tengetial, so please feel free to skip it.

Sometime in November 2018, I was running a long-overdue update of all my
packages (ie `pacman -Syu`). While some package was installing, Plasma crashed.
I was in the middle of reading an article online, and Plasma suddenly crashed
suddenly (with a lot of error messages), and brought me back to the shell (on
Arch). My theory is that it happened because pacman (the Arch Linux package
manager) was probably literally overwriting/replacing Plasma binaries, while
the system was running. Also, because, my package update process was running on
Konsole, I think when KDE crashed, it killed the package update process in the
middle of whatever it was doing. After this happened, I think I tried to finish
my update, and then rebooted my computer. But when I rebooted, the system
wouldn't boot.

The interrupted system update actually corrupted my Arch Linux installation. I
spent several hours trying to fix it, but eventually gave up, and switched to
Windows for several months (until February 2019). I had some important job
interviews coming up, and I couldn't spend all my time trying to fix my Arch
Linux installation. Initially, I found out that the vmlinuz image itself was
broken (and non-bootable). But I fixed that / got the kernel to build properly;
but after that, the next problem was that my initramfs was partially broken.
The Arch Linux mkinitcpio command
(https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/mkinitcpio) wasn't working properly, and
was throwing errors while building. It would build an initramfs that lacked
support for decrypting a dm-crypt partition. So I couldn't actually boot my
system -- even if I could access it from an Arch Linux installation USB.
Anyways, because of my job interviews, I switched to Windows for a while. Later
on, in February 2019, I spent some more time trying to fix my broken Arch Linux
installation, but finally decided it wasn't worth my time anymore, so I backed
up my home directory, and set up everything from scratch. Ever since coming
back to Arch Linux + KDE/Plasma (in February 2019), I've had this intractable
sleep/wake problem.

Thank you, both of you, for looking into these bugs,
Arjun

You probably installed/updated nvidia driver or kernel without restarting the
system. In this case, the nvidia driver cannot find a matching kernel module,
and OpenGL applications will fail to create the required handles.

Hm, delete on a null pointer is safe though. And the text preview has been in
for quite a while now, the issue must be a bit more subtle ...

[plasmashell] [Bug 405406] New: Plasma Crashes After Waking Up From Sleep

2019-03-12 Thread Arjun Menon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405406

Bug ID: 405406
Summary: Plasma Crashes After Waking Up From Sleep
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.15.2
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: arjungme...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Application: plasmashell (5.15.2)

Qt Version: 5.12.1
Frameworks Version: 5.56.0
Operating System: Linux 5.0.0-arch1-1-ARCH x86_64
Distribution (Platform): Archlinux Packages

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
My computer woke up, after sleeping.
I was running Arch Linux, with all of latest KDE and Plasma packages (as of
March 12, 2019), when this happened

I recently (today; on March 12, 2019), updated all of packages (ran `pacman
-Syu`), and therefore have all the latest packages. But previously, before I
updated to the latest packages, KWin consistently crashed after waking up from
sleep. I created a bug report for it here:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404617#c0

This is the second time accidentally (out of habit) earlier today, and that
time, I didn't get an opportunity to create this bug report. Plasma was a lot
more broken. The whole taksbar was blanked out. But K Menu still worked, so I
logged out, and logged back in.

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
Google Chrome always stops working when this happnes, but Firefox continues to
work. Google Chrome stops rendering anything, so you have a blank/frozen
window. After a while, KDE/Plasma shows that it has stopped responding and asks
me if I want to terminate Google Chrome. I terminate it, and restart it, to get
it working again.

- Custom settings of the application:
My computer has a 4K screen. I have a 17-inch HP Envy 17t laptop. The screen
shows up as connected through an eDP port. Because it's a 4K screen, I have a
KDE/Plasma configured with a scaling factoe 2.2 Furthermore, the icons have
been configured to be scaled up as well.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

Git commit 920f9ba6cb298bb34a1aefb77b06957f2ba9a942 by Mauro Carvalho Chehab.
Committed on 12/03/2019 at 20:47.
Pushed by mauroc into branch 'master'.

README.md: add a quick description about xmltv

Make easier for users to work with xmltv files by adding a
quick comment at the Kaffeine's readme file.

Also, add a small script with an example about how to map
XMLTV channels into DVB ones.

[kwin] [Bug 405404] New: Walk Through Windows of Current Application does not work with Keyboard Layout with dead keys

2019-03-12 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405404

Bug ID: 405404
Summary: Walk Through Windows of Current Application does not
work with Keyboard Layout with dead keys
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.12.7
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: lucas.genze...@outlook.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start with a fresh install (or Live-CD)
2. Go to Keyboard under System Settings, and select Layout *English (US)* with
Variant *English (US, intl., with dead keys)*
3. Open two or more windows of the same program (e.g., Firefox), and let one of
them be the active window
4. Press Alt+` to switch to another window of the program

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing happens

EXPECTED RESULT
The shortcut should allow to switch between windows of the program, as always.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 18.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.7
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.44.0
Qt Version: 5.9.5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Workaround: leave the first entry of Keyboard Layouts as English (US) (i.e.,
Default variant), and add the desired layout as a *second* entry. Apply
changes, and then select the desired layout from the bottom toolbar. Now you
can write with the layout that you chose, but the aforementioned shortcut still
works as expected.

Thank you for your help! Unfortunately, I find it hard to find these debug
packages compatible with the kwin libraries installed along with Ubuntu 18.10.
I try to download these ddeb package and install it manually, but the dpkg
install command gives me such dependency issue:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of kwin-common-dbgsym:
 kwin-common-dbgsym depends on kwin-common (= 4:5.15.2-0ubuntu1); however:
Version of kwin-common on system is 4:5.15.2-0ubuntu1~ubuntu18.10~ppa1.

Ok, I tried something similar, but in this case I can only have "windows" in
4:3 or 16:9. But I'll do anyway.
So next time I better insert all videos of the same size? (for example the big
one I reduce to 1080p before inserting, right?)
