[Discover] [Bug 407115] New: set umask 022 before installing or updating flatpaks

2019-04-30 Thread Thiago Jung Bauermann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407115

Bug ID: 407115
Summary: set umask 022 before installing or updating flatpaks
   Product: Discover
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Flatpak Backend
  Assignee: lei...@leinir.dk
  Reporter: thiago.bauerm...@kolabnow.com
CC: aleix...@kde.org, jgrul...@redhat.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
libflatpak users need to explicitly set the process umask before installing or
updating flatpaks, otherwise installed files won't be readable by others on
systems with a restrictive default umask (e.g., 007).

See https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/pull/2856 and
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-software/merge_requests/201

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set user umask to 007
2. Install or update a flatpak
3. Try running flatpak list on the console.

OBSERVED RESULT
Flatpak will complain about not being able to access the flatpak

EXPECTED RESULT
flatpak list runs normally

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 18.10
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.13.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.50.0
Qt Version: 5.11.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
flatpak version 1.0.7.
This is fixed on the flatpak side in version 1.3.3

[plasmashell] [Bug 360478] Desktop widgets are permanently repositioned when fullscreen games lower display resolution

2019-04-30 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360478

I just tested this on the latest KDE Neon Developers Edition and it's still not
working... Here are my specs:

KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.58.0
Qt Version: 5.12.0
Kernel Version: 4.13.0-45-generic

The way I tested this was the following:

1) I placed four folders on the bottom right corner of my desktop. My display
resolution was 1920x1080.
2) I manually changed my resolution to 800x600.
3) The folders moved to the top left corner of the desktop. (this behaviour is
ok I guess, since the folders would not appear on the desktop otherwise)
4) I manually changed my resolution back to 1920x1080.
5) The folders DID NOT move back to the bottom right corner of my desktop.
(this right here is the bug as far as I'm concerned)

Now, I am going to try to give this bug some extra visibility by posting a new
bounty. Here it is:

https://www.bountysource.com/issues/73566821-desktop-widgets-are-permanently-repositioned-when-fullscreen-games-lower-display-resolution

To release the bounty I will need to see this bug fixed in a KDE Neon
Developers Edition installation. The fix will have to be able to address the
5-step scenario detailed above!

Happy hunting! :)

[plasmashell] [Bug 407114] New: Don't play unplugged sound when resuming from stand-by

2019-04-30 Thread Ovidiu-Florin BOGDAN
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407114

Bug ID: 407114
Summary: Don't play unplugged sound when resuming from stand-by
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.14.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Battery Monitor
  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Reporter: ovidiu@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
When a laptop gets unplugged from power while in stand by, when resuming from
stand by the unplugged sound gets played.

This is misleading as the two events can be hours or minutes apart.

Also it's very disturbing, as a laptop may be brought back from stand-by during
a class or meeting.

The volume might be set to loud, which makes this a bad experience.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Plug laptop to power
2. Put laptop in sleep/stand-by mode
3. Unplug laptop from power
4. Resume from sleep/stand-by mode

OBSERVED RESULT
Unplugged from power notification sound is played.

EXPECTED RESULT
Unplugged from power notification sound not to be played.

KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.55.0
Qt Version: 5.11.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Just to be clear, I'm referring only to the specific scenario of the sound
being played when resuming from stand-by, not during general use.

[dolphin] [Bug 398908] Dolphin uses up huge amounts of memory

2019-04-30 Thread Knut Hildebrandt
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=398908

Just noticed that the dolphin holding the 5 taps made a leap up in memory usage
from 850 MB to 1050 MB, which is about 20 %. At a first glance it seems that
all dolphins use about 20% more memory now. During the leap they consumed
between 5 % and 18 % of CPU time each and a bunch of processes named file.so
and one named sftp.so appeared. Now most of these processes disappeared again
and CPU time is back down to 1-2 % for at most one dolphin at a time. The rest
is zero.

2019-04-30 Thread Knut Hildebrandt

Well, five hours later and after watching a film which was started from one of
the dolphins all dolphins are up to memory consumption between about 200 MB and
850 MB. Don't know when the memory usage exactly leaped up, but suppose it
happened during the last 2,5 hours when I was watching the film.

on.

Any other information I could provide?

SUMMARY

I added a new user via system settings. After logging in (even after reboots),
it appeared to be completely broken. Could not add panels, could not start most
apps such as system settings, and failure was silent. No error messages logged.
The problem was quite innocent. System is a laptop with two external monitors.
The laptop lid is closed, the display should be disabled. But the new session
did not notice the lid was closed, and made the laptop display both enabled and
the primary monitor.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Laptop with external display (I have two). Close laptop lid.
2. Make a new user with system settings (admin or not, doesn't matter)
3. Switch to new user or logout/login or reboot & login to new user

OBSERVED RESULT
"Broken desktop. No panels. Can't add panels. Can't start settings.

EXPECTED RESULT

Normal desktop

Problem
The laptop display in the new session was both enabled and made the primary
monitor.

[Akonadi] [Bug 407111] New: EWS compose Emails with S/MIME signature certificates with wrong Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit instead of base64

2019-04-30 Thread themroc

Bug ID: 407111
Summary: EWS compose Emails with S/MIME signature certificates
with wrong Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit instead of
base64
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: EWS Resource
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: rauchwe...@gmail.com
CC: kri...@op.pl
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 119756
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=119756=edit
diff between local and server version of sent Email

EWS compose/send Mails with S/MIME signature certificates with wrong
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit instead of base64

When I send a signed e-mail with S / MIME signing certificates, the certificate
will not be recognized by any other mail client, including Kmail on other
machines.
An invalid signature is always displayed.
Outlook indicates, that the message content was changed after creating the
signed mail and therefore the signature can not be verified.

In addition, only on the computer from where I have sent the mail in Kmail with
the EWS resource in the sent folder the signature is displayed as valid.

On another computer with the same EWS resource, the sent mail in the sent
folder will be displayed as invalid.

This means, however, that Outlook is right and the message content was changed
later when it was sent.

And indeed, the message source text on both machines in the sent folder is not
identical.

On the computer from where I sent, will keep the original written e-mail. On
the other computer, the sent e-mail is downloaded from the server.

Comparing the two different e-mail source texts, there is only one relevant
difference:

< Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit
---
> Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

The really sent version has this line:
> Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

I then came up with the idea to force kmail to switch to the
"Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64" when writing the mail.
By adding special characters in the message text I reached it.
Then the version sent in Kmail will no longer be different from the version
sent to the server. Both have "Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64".

Plasma respects apps that say they need to inhibit shutdown. You can either
disable this functionality in Plasma (click on power/battery system tray item

change the app to not inhibit power management when running, or to make that
feature optional.

[dolphin] [Bug 398908] Dolphin uses up huge amounts of memory

2019-04-30 Thread Knut Hildebrandt
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=398908

(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #8)
> Does the issue go away or improve at all if you turn off file previews and
> hide the information panel?
All previews were switched off for weeks. Information panel was on but I
switched it off now. Have to see, if this brings some improvement.

After a restart of the system a couple of minutes ago the dolphin with most
tabs open (5) consumes about 90 MB, the ones with only one tab open about 30 MB
each and the others something in between. When I started the machine in the
morning all dolphins consumed much more. If I recall it right, between 150 MB
and 700 MB each. Over the course of the day the memory usage doubled for all
dolphins and dropped later to what they had used after starting the system.

There is one thing I noticed but I'm not sure if there really is a connection.
Because of another bug I had compositing temporally disabled. When I enabled
it, it seemed that the memory consumption of the dolphins made a big leap up.

BTW, in the moment there are seven dolphins running, four of them have between
two and five tabs and all but one or two tabs have two views.

This functionality is already available, it's just up to apps to use the
correct API. You can see this feature working properly if you click the "Open

the item is pre-selected.

The bug is on the affected apps, not Dolphin. Please report to their
developers. Thanks!

Hi, Tyson!

As could you make a video of your problem recorded on the current nightly
builds? I don't really understand what exactly you mean :(

1) Bezier tool doesn't have a context menu, it is a known problem.

2) Selection Tool -> Right-click -> Edit Selection is a shortcut for Selection
-> Show Global Selection Mask. So, basically, you should activate global
selection mask, then select this mask and only after that vector tools will
start working. In older versions it worked a bit differently, you could edit
selections without activating the selection mask, but it conflicted with
editing normal vector layers, so this behavior was removed.

3) Could you try to activate global selection mask and after that use vector
tools? If the tools still don't work, than it is surely a bug. Otherwise, it is
just a flaw in UIX that we should discuss together.

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Target Milestone: ---

When dragging a button from the title bar in the Buttons tab of the Window
Decorations KCM, an overlay shows above the pool of buttons with the text "Drag
here to remove button" and an icon underneath

That icon is not needed because it's clear that dragging an icon from the title
bar to the pool of available icons will remove it from the title bar, and it is
not aesthetically pleasing in this screen either.

I'd therefore suggest to remove the icon.

I have also tried to reproduced this over the past few days, but still unable

test how it reacts to that, but I will leave it running over night and see if
the memory usage increases.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407108

Bug ID: 407108
Summary: Add the ability to open iOS devices with Dolphin
   Product: dolphin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: abugrepor...@tuta.io
CC: elvis.angelac...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin
2. Plug an iOS device, in this case an iPad

OBSERVED RESULT

(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.57.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
libimobiledevice should be useful to implement this functionality
Attached are two screenshots on how this is done on Nautilus.

I'd like to set Papirus as a fallback theme. And not all of them fall back to
breeze: for the example CrystalSVG falls back to oxygen:
https://store.kde.org/p/1253578/

Others don't even have a fallback theme.

Then, even for breeze, there's some things that don't have icons.

[TagLibExtractor] Fix crash on invalid Speex files

Summary:
TagLib::Ogg::Speex::File::isValid() returns true even for invalid files,
but tag() only returns a valid XiphComment when the file is valid.

Other TagLib::Ogg::* classes properly clear the valid flag when
encountering files.

[dolphin] [Bug 407104] New: Redirecting to file in Dolphin doesn’t pre-select file

2019-04-30 Thread David
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407104

Bug ID: 407104
Summary: Redirecting to file in Dolphin doesn’t pre-select file

  Reporter: david.cortes.riv...@gmail.com

Some programs such as web browsers offer an option to show a file in the
default file manager – for example, in Vivaldi browser, after a file is
downloaded, there’s a right-click option “Show in File Manager”, which launch
the file manager in the folder that contains the file.

In other file managers such as MS Window’s, it would launch the file manager
with the desired file already pre-selected and the scroll focus already shifted
so as to make the file visible.

Would be nice if Dolphin could also offer this same behavior for software that
offers this functionality.

The fix is in Plasma 5.15.5. Looks like your distro hasn't provided it yet,
probably because it hasn't been released. I guess that means you're using KDE
Neon User edition rather then developer edition.

You can actually apply the change yourself to the QML file on your local
machine to verify that it worked.
