Sorry for the delay, on new installation of Fedora 33, Discover has no "Missing
Backends" part, even though the snap backend (plasma-discover-snap) is not
installed.
Nowadays Fedora ship flatpak backend by default, so not sure if this (hiding
the "Missing Backends") is the intended behaviour.

Regards
Mustafa

The Plasma devs care and already acknowledged this bug is a real problem and
will provide a fix at some point as per comment 77.

Please keep new comments in this bug relevant to the actual bug. Thank you.

[Breeze] [Bug 430059] New: Flatpaks and apps like Gparted/Grub customizer don't use Breeze-dark theme

2020-12-05 Thread Nigel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430059

Bug ID: 430059
Summary: Flatpaks and apps like Gparted/Grub customizer don't
use Breeze-dark theme
   Product: Breeze
   Version: 5.20.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: gtk theme
  Assignee: uhh...@gmail.com
  Reporter: nigelwestl...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I don't know if this is the right section. But since Breeze-dark doesn't have
there own theme anymore and now depends on colors, some other apps (gparted,
Flatpaks) don't follow the dark theme anymore. These apps use Breeze light
theme, because they don't know the difference between Breeze and Breeze Dark.

I fixed the Flatpak using by doing:
1. Open /home/nigel/.config/xsettingsd/xsettingsd.conf file
2. Change Net/ThemeName "Breeze"
3. To Net/ThemeName "Breeze-Dark"

After changing that section and autostart xsettingsd Flatpak now follow
Breeze-Dark instead of Breeze. I think this should change by default for less
techy users.

I had the same problem with apps like gparted, because I think they run as
root? Fixed this by:
1. Go to /home/nigel/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
2. Change gtk-theme-name=Breeze
3. To gtk-theme-name=Breeze-Dark

This also doesn't get done automatically when I set Breeze-Dark as global theme
and GTK Theme in application settings!

Summary: Flatpak and Apps like Gparted don't follow Breeze-dark theme, because
System Settings GTK says Breeze in stead of Breeze-Dark.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Follow the instructions above.

OBSERVED RESULT
Flatpaks and Apps like Gparted uses Breeze light theme while I have set theme
to Breeze-Dark in System Settings

EXPECTED RESULT

Flatpak and Gparted and Grub-Customizer to use Breeze-Dark when this is set in
System settings in stead of Breeze light

Alright. I also saw the discussion in the MR about this after commenting here.

Personally I feel this should be treated differently (but not sure how other
file managers like Nautilus or Windows Explorer treat this). The reasoning is
that I tend to look whether folders contain stuff before deleting them. With
this I'd potentially delete hidden stuff without realizing.

I'll create a new bug for that soon and reference here.

Hi, I finally find time to organize the pictures again, about your
questions (today I haven't experienced any crashes so far)

   - Job queue is empty (I remember that back in time there where more
items in queue and it was blinking all the time)
   - Maybe the importing queue was finally processed or might be some
improvements in video in current Neon version

If more errors appear I'll let you know

The DE started to slow down for seconds on Nov 26,2020.
The system becomes completely unresponsive while waiting for some background
task to complete. I tracked it down to the file
~/.local/share/kactivitymanagerd/resourcesdatabase

When i remove it it become responsive once again.

I deliberately decided not to implement that now as it opened a bit of a can of
worms in terms of both design and code when I considered it. I also didn't
think it was genuinely that important to indicate. Hidden files are not
normally things that users need to interact with, so advertising their
presence--but only for otherwise empty folders--didn't seem like a very good
idea to me.

If you feel that it's a genuinely good and useful thing to do, let's track that
with a separate bug report.

I like the introduced solution. It is one further step towards making Dolphin
appear more reliable to users imho.

This bug also talks about treating folders with hidden files. How does that
currently work with the new system? There doesn't seem to be a message for that
case currently and showing "empty folder" would be pretty misleading imho.

Thus for now I will reopen this, but am also open to further track this special
case in a different bug.

Summary: Plasma crashes when moving widget to a second monitor
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.20.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: r...@interoctiv.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Application: plasmashell (5.20.3)

Qt Version: 5.15.2
Frameworks Version: 5.76.0
Operating System: Linux 5.9.10-1-default x86_64
Windowing system: Wayland
Distribution: "openSUSE Tumbleweed"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Entered edit mode on the desktop and dragged the timer widget from one monitor
to another (secondary-external to primary-laptop or the opposite direction).

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
The widget stopped moving when the window's leading edge reached the border
between monitors. The widget disappeared, Plasma crashed then restarted.

- Custom settings
Both are high-DPI monitors (4k). The laptop monitor has 200% scaling. The
external monitor has 150% scaling.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

-- Backtrace:
Application: Plasma (plasmashell), signal: Segmentation fault

2020-12-05 Thread jonzn4suse
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430029

What is just as interesting is that when I unplug the mouse from both Leap and
TW the system is aware that the usb device is no longer plugged in, but the
touchpad doesn't work. I would probably need to logoff or reboot.

[digikam] [Bug 430056] New: Rotating a photo confirms its unconfirmed face tags

2020-12-05 Thread Mike Morrison
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430056

Bug ID: 430056
Summary: Rotating a photo confirms its unconfirmed face tags
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.2.0
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: m...@mikemorr.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Rotating a photo also causes its unconfirmed face tags to be confirmed, even if
they are incorrect.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select a photo that has one or more unconfirmed face tags.
2. Press F3 to preview it.
3. Click the "Rotate Left" or "Rotate Right" button in the top left corner of
the preview area.

OBSERVED RESULT
The photo is rotated, but the previously unconfirmed face tags are now
confirmed, even if the faces are incorrectly identified.

EXPECTED RESULT
Unconfirmed tags should remain unconfirmed.

That's because it's copying the avatar to a location outside your home folder
so that it can be visible to the login screen, because the login screen does
not have access to read files inside your home folder.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a thing with the qalculate backend
2. Run this mathematical expression ((-2)^3.3)
3. You'll see the following garbage in the output
(−[0;36m2[0m)^[0;36m3.3[0m ≈ [0;36m−[0m[0;36m5.789188237[0m −

Thanks Nikita

It looks like the "File Browser" panel that causes it to crash initially. I'll
paste the debug output bellow. Upon further inspection howerver it looks like
all three panels cause it to segfault. I managed to get it to start by applying

2020-12-05 Thread Kai Uwe Broulik
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430054

Bug ID: 430054
Summary: Missing windows icons in windows runner
   Product: kwin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
There are no icons for windows in the windows runner anymore on X11.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a window with title "foo"
2. Search for "foo" in KRunner

OBSERVED RESULT
A window entry "foo" with no icon

EXPECTED RESULT
A window entry "foo" with the appropriate icon

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.77.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
There is no pixmap serialization happening in the runner whatsoever, just

match.iconName = client->icon().name();

which requires themed window icons which we don't have on X.

[plasmashell] [Bug 360478] Desktop widgets and Folder View icons do not remember their sizes and positions on a per-resolution basis

2020-12-05 Thread Alex Barrero
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360478

Relax people! When you say that this bug makes look the project amateurish,
it's because it's a community driver project, and although there are some paid
devs working on KDE, a lot of people coding are volunteers, with their own
lives and main jobs.

True that this bug is annoying and can hurt the desktop experience (for me not
entirely, because when I moved from windows to linux many years ago, I stopped
using desktop as a place to set icons or files, only have two or three
plasmoids). So have a little bit of patience and thank the work they do.

If there is not enough manpower to fix all bugs, only the most critical receive
the attention, and things like this keep in the line to get fixed.

So it will be fixed ASAP.

Thanks for your work!

[digikam] [Bug 430053] New: Clarify dialogs when removing unused face tags

2020-12-05 Thread Mike Morrison
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430053

Bug ID: 430053
Summary: Clarify dialogs when removing unused face tags
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.2.0
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Faces-Workflow
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: m...@mikemorr.com
  Target Milestone: ---

When removing a face tag that is not assigned to any images, some additional
info in the dialog popups would help the user to feel more confident about
removing them.

In the People view, in the list of tags on the left sidebar, if I right-click
on a person's name for which there are 0 assigned photos, and then click
"Remove Face Tag", the first dialog asks:
"Remove face tag?"
I would feel more assured if this dialog included the name of the tag to be
removed, for example:
"Remove face tag 'Mike'?"

If I click "Yes" on that popup, the next popup asks:
"Remove the tag corresponding to this face tag from the images?"
I find this message somewhat confusing, because there are in fact no images
associated with this tag. Perhaps this message, or the previous one, could
indicate the exact number of images (0, in this case).

Actually, perhaps both dialogs could be replaced with a single one saying
something like:
"Face tag 'Mike' is associated with 0 images. Remove it?"

[krunner] [Bug 429688] Krunner very sluggish after 5.20 update

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429688

Hmm, you have frameworks 5.75, there might have been issues with the spinner. I
am not sure if this is the cause of the problems or just a symptom.

Do you have any runners disabled/additional runners installed?

I'd also like to say that I'm experiencing this, and have been since I started
using Krita. It's particularly noticeable on brushes like Pencil3_Large_4B,
which start on a low opacity.

Reproduction steps for me:

1. Start Krita, open blank canvas
2. Select Pencil3_Large_4B as above. Note that the opacity is 15%.
3. Hover the tablet pen over the canvas (no need to draw). The opacity remains
at 15%.
4. Flip to hover the eraser over the canvas. The opacity remains at 15% (as far
as I can see it should be 100%).
5. Flip back to hover the normal pen tip over the canvas. The pencil's opacity
is now 100% instead of the previous 15%, which is definitely wrong and defeats
the point of using the pencil tool.
