[dolphin] [Bug 451021] New: WHISHLIST / Feature request: Make dolphin folder and files icons show little squares to open such folder/file in the desired alternative application
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451021 Bug ID: 451021 Summary: WHISHLIST / Feature request: Make dolphin folder and files icons show little squares to open such folder/file in the desired alternative application Product: dolphin Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: view-engine: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: franco...@protonmail.com CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 147232 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=147232=edit Hovering over a folder in Dolphin SUMMARY It is a common scenario to open fodlers or certain file types with more than one application. i.e.: Opening images with gwenview but sometimes also with GIMP and/or Inkscape, opening scripts/code with Kwrite but also with Kate and/or VScode, and so on. So, for cases where people find themselves in this use case a lot of times, it would be a benefit to shorten the time to select the application(s) with which to open files, avoiding opening the context menu and the Open with... submenu. This alternative would not show every option, but the most used or a selection for every file type. The alternative / Feature request: Make dolphin folder and files icons in the folder view show little squares to open such folder/file in the desired alternative application. This squares would be of similar appearance, behaviour and size of the already existing select/unselect square icons. So they would show up when hovering the cursor over the folder/file icon and would highlight when hovering the cursor over them. Clicking on the folder/file icon like usual would open it with the default application... the squares are for the alternative apps. Clicking on this little squares would open the respective file/folder using the selected application. This feature should look like the images attached. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Dolphin 2. Move the cursor over any file or folder OBSERVED RESULT Three little squares with app icons inside should appear on the bottom-right corner of the hovered folder/file. EXPECTED RESULT Clicking on any of these icons should open the hovered file/folder using the application that the little icon represented. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 443697] KDE does not respect "primary" screen settings when launching applications and using multiple screens
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443697 Nate Graham changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |FIXED Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED Version Fixed In||5.24 --- Comment #16 from Nate Graham --- In general apps don't respect the primary screen setting when launching. However, on X11, it is up to the app, so some apps will, and some apps won't. In addition, some apps specify a manual location to be launched at, irrespective of which screen is the primary one. It's a mess, and it's not easily fixable. But generally, issues here are bugs in apps themselves. On Wayland, or on X11 for apps that don't specifically request a location to launch at, apps will be launched at a location of the window manager's choosing. Issues here are bugs in KWin. It seems like the originally-reported issue is fixed now, so let's close the bug before it turns into a grab-bag of people reporting random unrelated multi-monitor issues. For people still experiencing different issues, please file new bug reports. Thanks! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[systemsettings] [Bug 420054] Keyboard kded module causes hang after switching back from virtual console
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420054 Zach changed: What|Removed |Added CC||zach.les...@grafana.com --- Comment #33 from Zach --- I believe I'm experiencing something similar with a USB keyboard. This appears to happen after a suspend/resume because all the USB devices are re-detected, but also happens whenever I plugin in a keyboard. The laptop keyboard also stops working when a USB keyboard is plugged in. Switching to virtual console and back works with both keyboards while plasma is hung. Keyboard events seem to buffer, because after some period of time (1m?), the keyboard starts working again and all of the keypresses that were pressed while frozen all replay at once, followed by a brief pause and an error `kded5[1067]: org.kde.kcm_keyboard: Failed with return code: 1`. As mentioned in this post, disabling the keyboard background service and re-plugging the USB keyboard works as expected. Intel graphics, i915 chipset. If this is unrelated, let me know and I can file a new issue. This has been quite a chore to track down, but worth creating a bugs account for. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Powerdevil] [Bug 450551] Battery charge limit is not preserved after reboot on ASUS laptops supporting charge limits
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450551 --- Comment #13 from Nate Graham --- They say that to filter out bug reports by people using distros that heavily patch their kernels and curate their kernel module selection, because oftentimes those users are experiencing bugs that have already been fixed or that require a non-default kernel module. Arch doesn't really do that though, and this issue is clearly right there in the kernel code (it's even commented), so I'd say it's fine to file a report on the kernel bug tracker itself. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[okular] [Bug 393811] Inconsistent behaviour in saving comments
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393811 --- Comment #17 from mineirodomu...@gmail.com --- Hi Albert, Thanks for the quick reply. I plan to have the following workflow: 1- select the region 2- once the mouse is released 2.1- create the note 2.2- open inline note editor 3- the user can enter the text like when it is editing an inline note 4- the user might close the editor using ESC I attached some screenshots that I hope will give a better idea of this workflow. An effect of this change would be that the area initially chosen by the user would define the size of the note. Currently, Okular readjusts the area of the note depending on the size of the text entered, but this might lead the note to hide something that might be important for the user. In the example attached, the idea is that the user could define the note by the side of the title, which currently covers the title, in the new workflow that would not happen. Thanks for the hard work. Okular is my favorite way of taking notes. Cheers, -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438206 Sven Brauch changed: What|Removed |Added CC||m...@svenbrauch.de --- Comment #7 from Sven Brauch --- Unfortunately Python completely removed the Parser module we were using from their public API, so there is no easy fix for this issue. The most realistic option at this point is probably to write a Python snippet which uses the "ast" module to do the parsing (which is effectively exactly the same) and serializes the result somehow, e.g. into an XML or ProtocolBuffer stream. Then we can execute this snippet from C++ code (this works without creating a process using Python's C API) and deserialize it, giving us the same data structure as before. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
