[okular] [Bug 481111] New: Keyboard shortcuts or menu items to rotate in okular

2024-02-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48

Bug ID: 48
Summary: Keyboard shortcuts or menu items to rotate in okular
Classification: Applications
   Product: okular
   Version: 23.08.4
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@k3ssl.de
  Target Milestone: ---

There seems to be neither a keyboard shortcut, nor the possibility to add a
button to the tool bar, to rotate the text 90° right or left. Always going
through the menu, and even there not having the option to rotate 180°, seems
like a feature missing.

Bug ID: 481109
Summary: Plasma "Configure Audio Devices" usability broken
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasma-pa
   Version: 5.27.8
  Platform: Kubuntu

  Target Milestone: ---

Hi all,

The "Configure Audio Devices" Settings in Plasma has a usability Problem, if i
look around the settings and i accidentally move the mouse wheel, while
mouse-over a "Profile" all my settings are mixed up. There is no way of
discarding the changes, also all changes are directly made without asking for
confirmation or "save" or "apply" this leads to very weird Audio Issues, also
there is no way to reset to default settings.

I don't have a very high opinion of Debian.

Suppressing the error doesn't make it go away. And that suppression will hide
ALL Addr4 errors. Don't do that.

I would also expect 'none' to behave much like 'memcheck', with the difference
that 'none' doesn't intercept memory related functions. The main use of none is
to make sure that the Valgrind core machinery is correct. If the problem is in
the guest executable 'none' won't change anything.

There has to be something else messing with it, this is not the usual
behaviour...

If it is disabled it generally stays disabled, and you can see the option in
the
.config/baloofilerc
file as
[Basic Settings]
Indexing-Enabled=false

Keep an eye on this, see if it is being changed back. You could try setting the
config to "read only"...

> 1. `systemctl --user disable kde-baloo.service` doesn't help. It still
> starts up again at reboot.
I'll check to see whether this does anything more than the "balooctl disable".
I think not as it would not set the "indexing-enabled-false"

> 2. Deleting the index after disabling `Enable File Search` makes no
> difference.
No, that would be a purge and you'd start again.

> 3. I need to disable `baloo_file` as my system is using `BTRFS` COW with
> scheduled snapshots enabled. This causes `baloo_file` to re-index every time
> a new snapshot is created, consuming large amounts of CPU and doing a lot of
> fs reads (slowing other opartions down) and performing writes that
> negatively impact SSD wear.
That's interesting. I've not played with that. The question is why Baloo sees
the files as new files.

* Do you see the snapshots "elsewhere" in the filesystem?
* If you do a "stat one-of-your-files.txt", do you see the device number and
inode of the file change (after the snapshot/reboot)?
* If you do a "balooshow one-of-your-files.txt" do you see the DocID change?
(the Id is built from the device number and inode. The way this is done has
recently been changed to avoid reindexing, specifically in the BTRFS case)
* If you do a "baloosearch -i one-of-your-files.txt" do you get a single
result or many?

The "DocId" is the 16 character hex string that comes first in the balooshow
and at the beginning of the line in baloosearch.

[plasmashell] [Bug 481044] Window previews for Firefox when playing videos with sound or streaming audio were sometimes shifted down and to the right

2024-02-08 Thread Matt Fagnani
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481044

Thanks. This problem usually happened when I stopped moving the cursor over the
Firefox task in the task manager before the window preview popups appeared.
When I kept moving the cursor after the window preview popups appeared, the
problem normally didn't happen or corrected itself. The initial alignment
positions for Firefox previews might be off. I've only seen this problem with
Firefox when video or audio are playing or paused with sound on, so the media
player controls might be involved in the incorrect positioning somehow. The
media player controls like play or pause were either partly cut off at the
bottom of the popups or not shown at all when the problem happened. I haven't
seen this problem when playing video or audio with Falkon or VLC briefly.

[krita] [Bug 466977] Restore defaults option for the onion skin sliders

2024-02-08 Thread Emmet O'Neill
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=466977

Hi again, Nagy.

I've added this feature and it should be included in the next release of Krita.
If you'd like to try it out sooner, you can get a "Krita Next" nightly preview
build from the Krita website.

To access this feature in future versions, right click on the slider section of
the Onion Skins Docker and select "Reset" from the context menu that appears.
This will reset all of the sliders to their smooth defaults.

Thanks again for the feature request!

Git commit e36d761cd2b1b6d20029c41a7eaa4d8d7ed8 by Emmet O'Neill.
Committed on 09/02/2024 at 04:39.
Pushed by emmetoneill into branch 'master'.

Feature@UI/Anim/OnionSkins: Can now reset onion skins to default values.

Right-clicking on the slider widget within the onion skins docker
will show a new context menu with a single "Reset" action, which
resets all of the slider values to their smooth defaults.

I thought this issue didn't affect me before, even though I was indeed getting
freezes. I realized it when the patch to disable hardware cursors stopped the
freezes on Plasma 6, so I left it disabled, but lately I decided to enable
hardware cursors again using the env veriable and noticed the freezing not
happening anymore. I don't know what it is; it could be a MESA update or
something in Plasma 6 RC2. I don't know what changed, but the freezing issue
with HW cursors is suddenly gone. I'm really glad that I don't have to use
software cursors anymore because I notice the slowness of the mouse movement
under heavy load, and that does not feel nice at all. Hopefully the next thing
that gets fixed is the fact that the entire plasma desktop's slows down from a
single graphical program running slowly i tested with compositor-killer.

[plasmashell] [Bug 481104] New: System Tray Settings -> Entries search results are displayed overlapping other random entries

2024-02-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481104

Bug ID: 481104
Summary: System Tray Settings -> Entries search results are
displayed overlapping other random entries
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: System Tray
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: fi...@tutanota.com

Search running showing random overlapping entries as well as search results

SUMMARY
Searching for entries in the System Tray Settings applet causes correct results
to show, but there are some entries that don't match the search, displayed in
the same results area, which means both matching matching entries and
non-matching entries are written over one another.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right-click "Show hidden icons" and select "Configure System Tray"
2. Select tab "Entries" in the settings applet
3. Search for anything with at least one matching result ("x" or "j" return no
results, for me, and don't cause the issue)

OBSERVED RESULT
Usually there will be random other entries somewhere below the matching result.
They are displayed in the same position in the search as were they were in the
main list of entries, prior to starting the search. After the non-matching
results first display, they will remain visible until the applet is closed or
until you switch tabs in the applet. The expected entries are written on top of
the non-matching entries, including (when you stop searching) the same entry
itself, which is displayed at the same position twice (You can see the text is
written to the area twice, for example).

EXPECTED RESULT
Only matching entries shown in search results, stop searching and entries to
display are properly cleaned up.

Hi Cade, thanks for the detailed report. I can easily reproduce this bug with
your instructions.

For the time being, I think the quickest workaround is to right-click on the
frame time header bar (at the top, where you drag to scrub) and select "clear
cache" from the context menu. This rebuilds the animation cache and seems to
solve the broken playback.

I'm setting this to "confirmed", and hopefully we'll get this fixed by the next
released.

[frameworks-baloo] [Bug 481101] New: Enable File Search can't be permanently disabled

2024-02-08 Thread MarkW
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481101

Bug ID: 481101
Summary: Enable File Search can't be permanently disabled
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: frameworks-baloo
   Version: 5.114.0
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Baloo File Daemon
  Assignee: baloo-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: instruf...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
`baloo_file`/`Enable File Search` can't be permanently disabled.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go into `File Search` in KDE settings
2. Tick to disable `Enable File Search` and click Apply
3. Reboot
4. Notice that `baloo_file` is chewing through CPU and I/O resources.
5. Go back into `File Search` in KDE settings
6. Notice that `Enable File Search` has been re-enabled.

OBSERVED RESULT
`baloo_file` continues to run, consuming CPU and I/O.

EXPECTED RESULT
`baloo_file` should be permanently disabled and the `Enable File Search` should
not be automagically re-enabled.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux/KDE Plasma
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.10
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.114.0
Qt Version: 5.15.12

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

1. `systemctl --user disable kde-baloo.service` doesn't help. It still starts
up again at reboot.
2. Deleting the index after disabling `Enable File Search` makes no difference.
2. I need to disable `baloo_file` as my system is using `BTRFS` COW with
scheduled snapshots enabled. This causes `baloo_file` to re-index every time a
new snapshot is created, consuming large amounts of CPU and doing a lot of fs
reads (slowing other opartions down) and performing writes that negatively
impact SSD wear.

Okay. I just noticed that actually it happens when, and if, I move the cursor.
If I don't move it at all, the bug doesn't seem to happen.
You can see it in the video, let me know if it's fine this time. I hope it
helps.

[kdesrc-build] [Bug 481098] New: For some distributions --initial-setup will not properly set the amount of usable cores

2024-02-08 Thread youkai
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481098

Bug ID: 481098
Summary: For some distributions --initial-setup will not
properly set the amount of usable cores
Classification: Developer tools
   Product: kdesrc-build
   Version: Git
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: setup wizard
  Assignee: mp...@kde.org
  Reporter: juer...@youkai.dev
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
On a high level kdesrc-build populates the two variables "num-cores" and
"num-cores-low-mem" inside the kdesrc-buildrc config file like so:
num-cores = Result of nproc
num-cores-low-mem = min(num-cores, Total ram in GiB / 2GiB )

It does so only if it detects that the current platform is linux or freebsd.
However, the platform detection logic is flawed on the linux side because it's
relying on the OS identification parameter "ID" from /etc/os-release and
testing if it's equal to "linux". On some (most?) distributions this is not the
case and the script will default to assigning the value 4 to num-cores and
num-cores-low-mem.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
0. Temporarily backup and move/delete ~/.config/kdesrc-buildrc if it exists
1. Run through "./kdesrc-build --initial-setup"

OBSERVED RESULT
The variables num-cores and num-cores-low-mem inside ~/.config/kdesrc-buildrc
will have the default value of 4 when running on a distribution which sets the
"ID" paramenter of /etc/os-release to something other than "linux".

EXPECTED RESULT
The variables should be set based on the amount of system memory. A 16-core
16GiB Ram System should have the following values: num-cores = 16;
num-cores-low-mem = 8.

Bug ID: 481099
Summary: Inserted hold frame(s) will never update in the cache
and halts playback (git 3ad80aa)
Classification: Applications
   Product: krita
Version: nightly build (please specify the git hash!)
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED

System info dumped by Krita

SUMMARY
After inserting a hold frame, it will remain "uncached" and playback halts when
the frame is encountered.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a new project with a paint layer
2. Draw anything (a dot or line is ok)
3. Create a new keyframe and draw on it
4. Play and stop animation (to ensure the cache gets filled)
5. Insert one or more hold frames between the key frames
6. Do not scrub the playhead
7. Play the animation

OBSERVED RESULT
The new hold frame will not be cached (indicated in the timeline UI).
Playback will halt next time the hold frame is reached, and cache must be
cleared/updated by other means.

EXPECTED RESULT
Playback will not halt. Frame will be cached (if applicable)

"You"? Just because I have a @kde.org address does not mean I was part of that
decision in any shape of form. On the contrary I was among the first ones to
complain about it when I found out, as a user. And I'm writing here because I'm
on the same side as you, trying to find possible solutions. I know you're
frustrated but please refrain from attacking the first person you talk to.

As for DBus, I'm sure the notification library sends a DBus signal that plasma
reacts to, but I'm not sure how that would help as long as kalendarac only has
code to postpone by 5 minutes and 1 hour.
