Bug ID: 481354
Summary: Dolphin crashed after I deleted a file
Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 23.08.4
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general

[Discover] [Bug 480525] [RFE] Support for dnf5 backend

2024-02-14 Thread Jan Kolarik
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480525

(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #2)
> Thanks for reaching out. Does this mean that you don't plan to support
> PackageKit with DNF 5 at all? And that therefore it will need its own new
> backend, not unlike the rpm-ostree backend?

Yes, the situation is that PackageKit has been in maintenance mode for some
time now, and there are no plans to add new features or backends like DNF5.
Therefore, a specific backend or plugin for the dnf5daemon integration will be
necessary.

SUMMARY
***
The buttons "reboot", "shutdown" and "logout" of my application launcher (and
alternative application launchers) have no effect. This has always been the
case when I use Neon kf6.
The bug occurs when I'm using Wayland as well when I'm using X11.
Strange thing is that those buttons do work in the Calamares installer. And
only there.

[kwin] [Bug 481125] Screen resolution gains additional 1px on wayland with fractional scaling

2024-02-14 Thread Denis Shiga
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481125

Interesting thing to note is that everything is perfectly fine if you go and
change scaling from 100% to anything in a live session.
It's upon session start where additional 1px appears - it seems like when it
tries to recalc screen size from local configs it has slightly different algo
rather that calculating screen size from env vars during session run.

This bug happened because the project file was using a non standard framerate
(29.83) which is not supported. This framerate was suggested by Kdenlive based
on the source clip's data. We now ensure that only valid fps are proposed by
Kdenlive (since 23.08.5), and a warning is now displayed when opening such
projects (will be in 24.05.0)

Dead-zone AND glitched fade

In this video i show the dead-zone space between these two preview window, and
after that I show that the fade is glitched, by opening one of the photos, but
even then the desktop and even OBS appears for a couple of frames when the
other photo is fading-in.

I think that the fade is terrible for any short of comparison between two
previews, but i guess that might be a setting enabled by default somewhere.

Had to be very quick due to the video size limit.

More personal viewpoints here about Google :

- You use Chrome with Google web service, there is no limitation, but Google
scan and store your Web activity to make money.
- You use a non Google application to use Web service : you need to pay of
course.

It's simple, money is money. The free to use game is over.

Hi,

About the API key, i thinking about this feature already implemented in
GoogleMaps support from digiKam, but he explain me that for Google Photo this
work around is different in the Google strategy. To resume, it's not simple as
to use the same API key everywhere for all Google web services.

I feeling that Google plan for the future is more AI like everywhere. You want
to use legacy web services, you need to pay. Free to use Web service will be
reduced in the long time. This is my pure viewpoint of course here...

It's too late at this point to add extra messaging; Plasma 5 has been
feature-frozen and string-frozen for ages. There's been messaging around it
already. The migration code Nicolas added should attempt to move KHotkeys
shortcuts into the new KGlobalAccel service. That's the best we can do at this
point I think.

Migrating to a new system always involves some degree of unfamiliarity and
learning new things. Plasma's powerful clipboard is generally considered a
strength, not a liability. I think this is a "try it, you'll like it"
situation.

Let me also mention that you can indeed make the Clipboard applet hide from
your system tray by setting it to "Always hidden" in the system tray config
window, on the "Entries" page.

But let me also echo the sentiment that if you're worries about people looking
through your clipboard history, you have much bigger problems--such as leaving
the machine unlocked in the first place. If you don't trust the other people
with physical access to the machine, at a *minimum* you need to be diligent
about locking it when you're not around.

[systemsettings] [Bug 481347] New: Support for advanced libinput configuration / button scrolling

2024-02-14 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481347

Bug ID: 481347
Summary: Support for advanced libinput configuration / button
scrolling
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.27.10
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_touchpad
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: waterlub...@rocketmail.com
CC: natalie_clar...@yahoo.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I've unfortunately run into an issue on my laptop where libinput ignores MMB
due to it activating "button scrolling" (see
[here](https://wayland.freedesktop.org/libinput/doc/latest/scrolling.html#on-button-scrolling))
by default. While I have filed a [bug
report](https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libinput/libinput/-/issues/971) with
them already, it's impossible to work around - or configure - this problem, and
it'll likely end up as WONTFIX on libinputs end, as this button scrolling
behavior is intended to be configurable.

I would like the ability to enable or disable button scrolling for a touchpad;
this is applicable to touchpads with a physical MMB, which will not function
correctly with button scrolling enabled. From what I understand of the
documentation and "kcminputrc"/touchpad KCM, I might be able to implement this
myself, but would probably need some help as I've yet to tear into KDE
internals this deeply before.

As an alternative, a system of shimming in arbitrary configs for libinput would
be very helpful. As far as I can tell, libinput (on Wayland) can only be
configured by the DE, barring nasty hacks like libinput-config (which is no
longer maintained). The ability to shim in arbitrary libinput configurations,
even if they're only available by editing .rc files, would be very helpful.

DESIRED FEATURE
1. Support for enabling or disabling [button
scrolling](https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libinput/libinput/-/issues/971) for
touchpad devices, or;
2. Generic support for all libinput configurations via a shim somewhere (this
may need to occur elsewhere in Plasma?)

Apologies if this is the wrong place to file this. Unfortunately, this is one
of those "split responsibility" areas between Wayland and Plasma, so I'm not
sure where the fix belongs. Libinput ought to include a more sensible default
on this machine, but a configuration option would still be useful for e.g
laptops with a trackpoint that the user does not desire to use.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Acquire a laptop with a touchpad, physical MMB, and (possibly) history of
trackpoint mice availability. I had a Precision 7750.
2. Press and hold MMB, note that the events are delayed until after release due
to libinput trying to perform button scrolling with a nonexistent trackpoint.
3. Wallow in agony at the lack of a configuration option to disable button
scrolling.

Beyond that, I'm not sure there's a bug here. It's intentional that desktop
icon positions are stored on a per-resolution basis now. This was done to solve
many issues.

It's known that the icon position behavior is still not great in a lot of
cases, and icon positions can still get messed up. We're hoping to focus on
that for Plasma 6.1 However until then, I'm afraid what you're seeing is
intentional and unfortunately you'll just have to live with it until we can
overhaul how this is done.

2024-02-14 Thread Ilgaz Öcal
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=472494

Without going into non-technical discussion, can't the user get a personal API
key, enter that key in some field in the plugin settings and use it in an
amateur (non-pro load) manner?

FYI if one uses a non de-googlefied Android like Lineage+microG, they already
give Google full access to their data, "as root".

What happens is: KDE's target market which isn't GNU-HURD, especially paying
ones from Third World countries (thanks to localized pricing) are being
victimized. Disabling a small time user grabbing 10 images from their Google
Photos won't really hurt Google, it will only hurt long term goals of KDE
project. They will simply use Google Photos Web and get more profiled.

That's the widget porting guide; this isn't about widgets.

It looks like no one has written any KWin porting guides yet, which is a shame.
I might recommend opening an issue about it at

of a dev task than a bug per se.

2024-02-14 Thread Yao Mitachi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481000

I didn't have kcm*, generic qtshadercache folder, or plasma-svgelements in
there. Also I had a "default" theme kcache file rather than Breeze Dark
specifically. However I'm on Plasma 6 (5.93) while you're on 5.27 so that is
probably why our files were a bit different.

Having deleted the files again from a TTY this time before logging in (actually
svgelements showed up, never mind?) and some other files and folders related to
KDE, just in case... No dice

Might be something about Qt6.7 or Plasma 6 that prevents any workaround for
working for me.

Thanks for the report. I cannot reproduce in a simple project.
This might be an issue with your source clip's video format. Can you test the
same effect on a color clip, does it work ? If it does, can you please try to
transcode the clip using the Project Bin's context menu on the clip >
"Transcode to edit friendly format". This will create a new video clip, then
try reproducing the bug with this new clip.
If this is the case, can you tell me which kind of source clip it is : from a
phone, screen capture, etc, and it would be interesting if you can share the
original source clip with me.

KDE Plasma: 5.27.10

I *did* delete the cache files from a separate TTY console without being signed

These labels are hardcoded to white on purpose: to offer adequate contrast
against the black shadows. If we let the text color here respect the theme, it
could disappear against the shadows. If we let the shadows adjust too to
prevent that, then they wouldn't be shadows anymre since shadows are always
black (ish).

Thank you for your bug report! I am afraid panon widget is a 3rd party widget
not developed by the KDE team, and you would need to report this to the
developers of panon widget.

On my single and dual-screen setups--all on Wayland with Qt 6.6.0--when I
execute those steps, the first Esc keystroke closes the panel config window,
and the second Esc keystroke exits from global edit mode.

No, 5.27 with Wayland the same shortcuts were working. Upgrading to Plasma 6
(5.93.0) with Wayland made them stop working

So it happens when you reboot into an X11 session and then back into a Wayland
session? Or only when logging out to the SDDM login screen that's using X11,
and back into a Wayland session. Or are you always using X11? Can you clarify
the setup?

FWIW I cannot reproduce the issue with only two screens, and both my session
and SDDM using Wayland (X11 not involved at all).

Discover only shows apps that have AppStream metadata; that is to say, apps
that have registered themselves as actual *apps*. Discover doesn't show
packages that lack this metadata. gufw lacks this metadata because it's a
technical package, not a user-facing app. As such, it's intentional that
Discover doesn't show it.

Sorry this happened. However if updating Mesa caused it, it seems pretty clear
that the issue is caused by a regression in Mesa itself. I'd recommend
reporting it at https://docs.mesa3d.org/bugs.html.
