Please submit the patch on invent.kde.org.

I think there is things wrong (if built with x11 support and run under wayland;
probably the most normal case), but it is better to discuss on invent.

You need at least ibus 1.5.29

I encountered this issue on Plasma 5 which is why I enabled the testing
repositories and switched to Plasma 6 since the second release candidate. It
still occurs, but to a lesser extent than before. I'll try to trigger it.

I removed also x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev, the issue is still there.

There is one thing that may be missing in the crash bug report. Before
kcm_mouse crash, I receive a notification of a circular dependency on console.
The following error appears twice.

qt.qml.typeresolution.cycle: Cyclic dependency detected between
"qrc:/qt/qml/org/kde/desktop/private/TextFieldContextMenu.qml" and
"qrc:/qt/qml/org/kde/desktop/MenuItem.qml"

Both files belongs to kde-frameworks/qqc2-desktop-style-6.0.0::gentoo package.

[frameworks-kwallet] [Bug 482438] New: Support key slot like LUKS, so people can use both password or smartcard to unlock kwallet

2024-03-04 Thread Celeste Liu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482438

Bug ID: 482438
Summary: Support key slot like LUKS, so people can use both
password or smartcard to unlock kwallet
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: frameworks-kwallet
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: va...@kde.org
  Reporter: coelacanthus...@gmail.com
CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

KWallet only supports one password to unlock kwallet. People may want to use
FIDO/PIV to unlock wallets so they needn't input a password after logging in by
using FIDO/PIV, and can use a password if the security key is unavailable. LUKS
also faces this problem, so they designed a mechanism: no longer use passwords
directly, a LUKS has multiple key slots, and any key of slots can unlock LUKS.
So with additional work like systemd-cryptenroll, the FIDO device can generate
a strong key as a new key slot. So people can use both passwords and FIDO/PIV
to unlock LUKS.

You can see so document on the LUKS key slot in
https://gitlab.com/cryptsetup/cryptsetup/blob/master/docs/on-disk-format-luks2.pdf

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

KWallet has a similar key slot feature, so users can use FIDO/PIV to both login
and unlock kwallet.

2024-03-04 Thread beaiouns

I noticed that the default keyboard shortcut "function + f10" cycles between
0%, 50% and 100% keyboard brightness, so that seems to be an easier workaround
to turn the keyboard brightness back up after opening the lid, but if there's a
way to get the 5.27 behavior back where it stays at the same level between
closing and opening the lid, that would be best.

[kdenlive] [Bug 482433] New: Slow motion audio bug

2024-03-04 Thread MasterGlitcher
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482433

Bug ID: 482433
   Summary: Slow motion audio bug
Classification: Applications
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 23.08.5
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Video Display & Export
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: dima67...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Hello. I noticed a bug that if you slow down the audio by about 10%, you can
notice that the audio lags behind the video, and also when rewinding, the audio
doesn't immediately change where it should play at normal speed.(And maybe
there are bugs in the faster video, but it's not for sure.)

I want to add some details...

The picture of the issue is changing a little if chekboxes on screen [2.png] is
not checked - in this case after locking I see a black screen, pressing
hardware power button shows lock screen in normal mode, I'm able to iterate
there, but when entering password and unlocking I see the same blinking in
unlocked session. Note that this happened on X11 session, NOT ON WAYLAND.

Recording [blinking.mp4] was made both with [1.png] and [2.png] settings. I
closed lid of laptop, waited some seconds, and opened the lid.

[kde] [Bug 482432] New: Mouse cursor not visible

2024-03-04 Thread Brandon Taylor
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482432

Bug ID: 482432
   Summary: Mouse cursor not visible
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: donnie126_2...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set up a virtual machine (in Virt-Manager, VirtualBox, etc.) with KDE neon
as the bootable ISO.
2. Start the virtual machine.
3. Press Enter at the GRUB screen to boot KDE neon live environment.
4. Wait for the KDE neon live environment to boot to the Plasma desktop.

OBSERVED RESULT
The mouse cursor is not visible on the screen. Moving the mouse still works,
and will highlight icons, buttons, etc.; however, it's very difficult to see
exactly what is being moused over.

EXPECTED RESULT
Mouse cursor should be visible on screen.

As per discussion in the kwin channel, on wayland the apps are responsible for
generating key repeats. So this would need to be reported to the apps, or the

Sorry I missed to mention that. If I press Alt+F2 and then type knosole it runs
as expected. It just leaves the window traces (like it is shown in the
screenshot I attached) if I move it around. With the konsole open I can then
run kate and even firefox. It seems like the applications that are corrupted
are the ones that are based on qml (or kirigami?) like (the ones I tried)
systemsettings, discover, eliza and spectacle.

I'll test the other suggestions soon.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482256

The gbm error is a minor driver bug, but it's unrelated. The dbus one is also
unrelated.

Judging by the lack of errors in KWin + the image, the problem might be on the
app side - maybe the apps are using the wrong GPU. I don't know if anything
about that would be logged, but if so, please attach the output of
> journalctl --user-unit plasma-plasmashell --boot 0

As some additional things you could check, can you start apps that don't use
the GPU at all, like Konsole? Also, if you set the
> KWIN_DRM_DEVICES=/dev/dri/card1:/dev/dri/card0
environment variable to force KWin to use the other GPU, does that change
anything?

Bug ID: 482429
Summary: kwin_wayland crashes on single hdmi screen reconnect
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.27.10
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: al...@zenfolie.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

On a desktop with a single monitor attached, when the HDMI cable is
disconnected (or, in my case, the kvm switch switched to the other computer)
and later reconnected, kwin_wayland crashes.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Unplug, or hit the KVM switch, while a session is active.
2. After a little while (presumably long enough for an attempt to put the
monitor to sleep has been made), reconnect the monitor.

OBSERVED RESULT
kwin_wayland crashed and dumps its core.

EXPECTED RESULT
kwin_wayland doesn't crash.

2024-03-04 Thread Prasad Murthy
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482428

Bug ID: 482428
Summary: Time units need better ranging instead of changing to
seconds only when trying to change using mouse scroll
wheel
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 6.0.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_powerdevil
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: phoenix_fire...@yahoo.com
CC: k...@privat.broulik.de, natalie_clar...@yahoo.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Using KDE Neon User edition, system was fully updated at the time of internally
confirming the bug.

Software and Hardware specs.
-
Operating System: KDE neon 6.0
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.2
Kernel Version: 6.6.20 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 32 × AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16-Core Processor
Memory: 31.1 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti/PCIe/SSE2
Manufacturer: ASUS
-

Observed:-

I was trying to change the sleep timeout setting of the system using system
settings. When I try to the timeout value using the mouse scroll wheel, the
default time unit changes from minutes to seconds and there after any change,
increment or decrement using the mouse scroll wheel occurs in seconds only.

Expected:-

The time units should range according, like if its more than 59 seconds then
change the units to mins and if more than 59 mins then to hours and so on.

3. Click on colorful banner where it says to donate.

OBSERVED RESULT
Web browser showed "Not Found"

Classification: Applications
   Product: kmymoney

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: ostrof...@users.sourceforge.net
  Target Milestone: ---

If you use the transaction filter in an investment or brokerage account, it
searches most fields, but not the category. I thought it searched the
Security, but that may be just because that string is also in the memo. This
would be very useful for me in finding transactions where the category does not
match what it should be, based on the memo. (I have "dividends" and "foreign
dividends", but no easy way to filter on transaction with just "dividends" in
the memo, but "foreign dividends" as the category. I know I can use a
transaction search, but I'm hoping for something more streamlined, as this is
only ever for one account at a time.

Just in case: Seems like the following line doesn't appear on my yesterday's

kwin_wayland[1368]: qt.dbus.integration: QDBusConnection: couldn't handle call

The error line below appears in either case

kwin_wayland_wrapper[1368]: src/gbm_drv_common.c:130: GBM-DRV error
(get_bytes_per_component): Unknown or not supported format: 875708754

Hope it helps.

There is a keepalive in KDE Connect as a whole. IIRC, it's just the timeout of
the TCP connection, which nominally you could configure, but it would then
apply to everything on your system.

> - Disabling the message input and/or displaying a very visible warning.

Once the connection is detected as lost, this is what happens.

Same result w/o the synaptics drivers and

I may have a conflict now between x11-drivers/xf86-input-libinput &

> Can you provide a demo application showing the issue please?

Sure. First install the latest Klassy plasma6.0 branch as follows:

git clone https://github.com/paulmcauley/klassy.git
cd klassy
git checkout plasma6.0
./install.sh

Then enable both the Klassy window decoration and Klassy application style in
system settings. Set your colour scheme to one which contains header colours,
such as Breeze Light or Breeze Dark. Then go to the Window Decoration settings,
click on the pencil icon when hovered over Klassy and then click "Presets..."
button at the top-right. Load the "Glassy Klassy" preset.

If you open an application with headers such as the latest Dolphin (Qt5), Kate
(Qt5), Konsole (Qt6) or Kmail (Qt6) you will see the issue with blur missing
halfway down the header, as in the screenshot I attached previously.

I have also just made some changes, so the line which contains the call to
KWindowEffects::enableBlurBehind() is now at:
https://github.com/paulmcauley/klassy/blob/120332dfd4dd830359dd170020adcd5fd57ce229/kstyle/breezestyle.cpp#L1726

You can also install from the Plasma5.27 branch on Plasma 5.27 to see the
headers showing blur as they should be.

[Powerdevil] [Bug 482425] New: Dual-battery laptop, systray entry hidden after 1st battery is discharged

2024-03-04 Thread Elias Probst
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482425

Bug ID: 482425
Summary: Dual-battery laptop, systray entry hidden after 1st
battery is discharged
Classification: Plasma
   Product: Powerdevil
   Version: 6.0.0
  Platform: NixOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: m...@eliasprobst.eu
CC: m...@ratijas.tk, natalie_clar...@yahoo.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I have a Lenovo T460s which has 2 internal batteries, which both show up as
expected in the applet.
As soon as the 1st battery has reached it's minimum discharge level (here: 5%),
the applet disappears from the default systray items and needs to be configured
to be shown always to re-appear.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Fully charge a device with 2 batteries.
2. Run it without a power supply until the 1st battery is discharged
3. Check the status of the powerdevil applet in the systray throughout this
process

OBSERVED RESULT
- As long as the 1st battery is still discharging, the applet is still shown in
the systray
- Once the 2nd battery starts discharging, the applet's entry is being moved
into the "extended" systray

EXPECTED RESULT
Always show the applet as long as one of both batteries is discharging.

  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general

SUMMARY
***

>From a flatpack install of Falkon, downloading zip files when asking where to
save strips the extension from the end of the filename.

NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go to https://vanillatweaks.net/
2. build a resource pack
3. download it and save it without any name changes

OBSERVED RESULT

file downloads without extension, kde realizes its a compressed file, but other
apps (in this specific case minecraft) need the extension to remain
EXPECTED RESULT

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 6
KDE Frameworks Version: 6
Qt Version: 5.15

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I note that while neon's kde 6 is on qt 6, falkon's flatpak is on 5.15, and the
deb available to neon (based on ubuntu) is further behind.

klipper: limit maximum width of popup

On ultra-wide screens, it can become rather absurdly wide. This caps
the horizontal size of the Klipper popup to 640px, which is (1920 * 1/3),
so users of that common screen resolution and lower ones should see no
change.

[marble] [Bug 482423] New: marble opens a second, dysfunctional window in about half of it's runs.

2024-03-04 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Bug ID: 482423
Summary: marble opens a second, dysfunctional window in about
half of it's runs.
Classification: Applications
   Product: marble
   Version: 23.08.5
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: marble-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: felics-...@kettenbruch.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 166405
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=166405=edit
Screenshot of `marble-qt` showing a second, dysfunctional window.

SUMMARY

When I open `marble`/ `marble-qt`, version 23.08.5, (both show that behaviour),
in roughly half of the cases it shows a second, small window without any
content that cannot be closed individually (only when closing marble itself).
That small window appears before the main application's window.

The small window's content does not update, and it shows "remnants" of
whichever window was in front of it before.

In the other cases there is only the main window.

Screenshot attached.

SYSTEM INFORMATION

Linux: 6.7.4 (vanilla kernel)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.10
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.0
Qt Version: 5.15.12
marble version: 23.08.5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I do not run KDE, but xfwm4 as window manager (without a desktop manager). I am
on Artix GNU/Linux (rolling release; Arch Linux with OpenRC instead of
systemd).

I'm afraid this isn't a useful bug report. Issues need to be filed separately
with a text description of the problem and how to recreate it and the expected
outcome, in English, with any screenshots and videos also in English

It's been days since it last happened. When I observed it, I was editing color
schemes and Plasma themes, and I restarted plasmashell several times. If I
can't reproduce it in the next fews days, I'll just close this.

[amarok] [Bug 475415] Quit via Systray does not work any longer

2024-03-04 Thread Rolf Wirth

(In reply to Tuomas Nurmi from comment #6)

> (Building from source code yourself is a possibility, but requires some

First: the package from ...home:ecsos IS installable. It was my error to not
import the belonging to key.
Second: I found the very special startup conditions where the quit does not any
longer work.

I use amarok always to listen to the same radio station. Therefore I configured
to start amarok immediately as minimized into systray because I do not need any
changes or selection inside amarok.
I start it minimized in KDE plasma and have setup a kwinrule:

PS1: > cat amarok.kwinrule
[Application settings for amarok]
Description=Application settings for amarok
clientmachine=localhost
minimize=true
minimizerule=3
position=30,0
size=1260,1156
skiptaskbar=true
skiptaskbarrule=3
wmclass=amarok
wmclassmatch=1
PS1: >

Under this startup condition (minimized), there is no initial window at any
virtual desktop.
This seems to be the reason for no answer to "quit" from systray/amarok/RMB at
every virtual DT except of the one which was active at startup of amarok.
It's not a big "error", but I noticed it immediately as it didn't work any
longer as usual.
(A never reported problem isn't any! This I learned at HP company)

Building from sources I want to avoid. Fulfilling all dependencies I expect to
be very complex.
I will ask "home:ecsos" to update his version to 20240221.
