[kmymoney] [Bug 351274] add graphical report for payees

And, additionally, if there was a possibility to select/deselect payees on the
right or left side of the report, right in the graphical view, that would make
it easier to check specific people.
Another way would be some way to scroll through the list of payees while
dynamically updating the "transaction by payees" view.

2024-03-25 Thread Martin Tlustos
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351274

Well, the easiest way is to just enable a graphical view of the already
available "transactions by payee". That of course would seriously clutter the
chart with too many lines, but one could adjust the filter/sort to show just
the regular donors. Then they would be able to see sudden changes more quickly
than by scrolling through an endless list of transactions.

Screenshot of bottom edge of screen after launching pinned applications.

SUMMARY
Color ghosting occurs around edges of monitor when hovering or dragging mouse
across after launching new application (when the icon is bouncing next to the
cursor). This seems to only happen when the display scaling is set to specific
percentages (i.e. occurs at 130% but not at 125%).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch any application from task bar.
2. Move mouse over edge of screen.

OBSERVED RESULT
Color "ghosting" around edges of screen when launching applications.
Also present around element borders of various applications, but less
noticeable.

EXPECTED RESULT
Edges stay same color and do not persist icon colors.

Notice the difference between having a window already miximized and maximizing
a window when you can still see the wallpaper; also the difference after
switching from "adaptive" to "transparent"

SUMMARY

When a panel's transparency is set to adaptive and it switches between opaque
and transparent (by maximizing a window, for example), all effects and
animations become noticeably slower during the process.

This doesn't happen when the panel is set to opaque or transparent.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. On X11, set a panel's transparency to "adaptive".
2. Enable window animations such as "lamp".
3. Maximize and restore a window.

OBSERVED RESULT
Animations become noticeably slower.

EXPECTED RESULT
Animations should be as fluid as always.

Would prefer to have only the graphical battery icon as I explained, admittedly
rudely myself, in the other thread. It's simply a matter of personal
preference, nothing more. I don't have time to keep arguing about this or
debating the practicality of it. If more people vote to have this option added
then that's fine.

[kde] [Bug 484500] New: No suspend after kde-inhibit until activity

2024-03-25 Thread Tom
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484500

Bug ID: 484500
Summary: No suspend after kde-inhibit until activity
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: NixOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: kdeb...@halffull.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

`kde-inhibit --power` correctly stops automatic power management (sleep) while
it's running, but after it completes, automatic power management is still
inhibited until the user interacts with the computer.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. In System Settings -> Energy Saving, set the Suspend Session timer to 1
minute.
2. Run `kde-inhibit --power sleep 90`
3. See that power management was successfully inhibited, since the computer
didn't suspend.
4. Don't touch anything.
5. See that the computer does NOT sleep after 60 seconds, even though
kde-inhibit exited.
6. Move the mouse or use the keyboard.
7. Wait 60 seconds and see the computer suspend automatically.

OBSERVED RESULT

Computer did not automatically sleep after set period after kde-inhibit exited.

EXPECTED RESULT

Computer should automatically sleep after the set period, starting after
kde-inhibit exits.

Playing a YouTube video in Firefox doesn't inhibit idle for me. I've resorted
to using https://github.com/rafaelrc7/wayland-pipewire-idle-inhibit/ which
inhibits idle while anything is playing through pipewire. (You can whitelist
or blacklist sources and sinks if you want.) Inhibiting idle also inhibits
suspend, so this is mostly good enough for me, but I'd love to see an option
like that baked into KDE. (I use kde-inhibit for the less-common cases that
don't play audio.)

I have this issue currently as well, on powerdevil version 6.0.2-3 - started
with the update to KDE version 6.

It's definitely lid close: if I suspend and wake without lid close, it
remembers keyboard brightness correctly. If I suspend, then close lid, then
open to wake, it remembers correctly. But if I suspend via closing the lid,
when I open it, the keyboard brightness is set to 0.

Reopening bug, since when I kill powerdevil (`killall org_kde_powerdevil`) and
close then open lid, keyboard backlight remains unchanged.

SUMMARY

When using any Jetbrains IDE, the desktop in general becomes laggy, to the
point of being unusable for certain tasks. The easiest example I can find is to
move the cursor over the Task Manager (provided it displays the thumbnail of
the window when hovering it). But it also affects things like dragging files or
text, reproducing videos on VLC, or almost anything that makes a floating
window (like a tooltip, a menu or a thumbnail) show up.

This could be either a bug caused by Jetbrains' IDEs or Plasma itself, but
figured out I'd post it here because:
1. This didn't happen using the same version of their software in Plasma 5.
2. This doesn't happen in any other DE that I've tried (Gnome and LXQt).

Bug described originally here:
https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JBR-6830/Poor-performance-with-KDE-Plasma-6-X11

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use Plasma X11
2. Open any Jetbrains IDE
3. Have the Task Manager thumbnails on hover enabled.

OBSERVED RESULT
The cursor starts skipping frames and becoming noticeable slower.

EXPECTED RESULT
Cursor moving normally without lagging.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: 6.8.1-arch1-1 (64 bits)
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.2

Unfortunately, the problem remains. It happens during the stream. Stream via
OBS. I run the game "Untitled Goose Game" in Lutris and either the sound in the
abs disappears completely (stops seeing the microphone and speakers). The
speaker's sign flashes (appears and disappears). Sound Devices appear and
disappear in the list of sound devices.

The problem occurs when entering or exiting the game. About once every 3 days.

This is a driver bug; the reason you're not seeing this with Xorg or Gnome
Wayland is that they only do 8 bits per color, while KWin does 10.
As a workaround you can use the KWIN_DRM_PREFER_COLOR_DEPTH=24 environment
variable, which makes KWin drop down to 8bpc as well.

I do understand there is a difference between having to read a percentage and
seeing it in an icon and that you prefer the latter; what I'm saying was that
I'm not convinced this is a strong enough reason to outweigh the benefits of
what was wished for here and implemented so that it would warrant reverting the
change or adding an extra configuration option for it.

As said, I'm open to reconsider if I get opinions from more than one user or
new insights on the other bug report, but the issue described in this thread is
fixed, so let's keep it to the point.

[qca] [Bug 482819] kwalletd6 sometimes crashed in QCA::PrivateKey::deriveKey when starting Proton VPN GUI

2024-03-25 Thread Matt Fagnani
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482819

My kwallet is opened automatically when I log in to Plasma with the same
password. You could try installing GNOME 46.0 in your Fedora 40 installation as
I have in case there's something from GNOME that's involved and running
seahorse, evince, and GNOME disks in Plasma as I described. I tried running
kwalletd6 under valgrind a week ago, but I only stopped kwalletd6 once before
running it under valgrind so kwalletd6 kept restarting automatically and I
didn't get it to crash under valgrind then. I followed your instructions. The
valgrind report showed an invalid read and a crash due to a null pointer
dereference in QCA::PrivateKey::deriveKey at the same line as in the gdb trace
I reported originally, which I guess was the null d pointer in the variable
this from privateKey in KWalletFreedesktopService::createSessionAlgorithmDhAes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 471369] Change battery icon based on the current power profile

2024-03-25 Thread Logan Turner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471369

I don't know how much clearer I can make this: I've reiterated multiple times.

> What value does the battery picture provide over it? How does seeing the
> charge level percentage not solve your problem which is to "report the
> current percentage"?

That is not what we want. I've already explained my reasoning for preferring
always being able to see a graphical indicator rather than a text one. For
developers, perhaps this is the preferred readout but not all of us are
developers. However, to avoid this going even more downhill than it already has
let's move past this.

I don't see where I was being rude, I was simply asking you what the remaining
problems are. "just stupid", on the other hand, is.

I'm still not convinced that a graphical depiction of the charge level while
plugged in outweighs the usefulness of an inhibition and power mode indicator,
given that we already have the percentage label to convey that information even
more accurately, and that the battery icon is already unconditionally shown
when not charging.

I also don't think this is enough of a problem that a configuration option is
warranted here; not every detail must or can be configurable, and part of KDE's
customizability means that there is the option of creating a custom widget to
suit specific needs.

You can reopen the other bug report as wishlist and I'll reconsider if there
are more people who think this was a change for the worse, but the issue
described in this thread is solved.

There is no need for this rude attitude. Some users like myself simply prefer
having a graphical indicator for battery, and taking it away in favour of a
static icon is just stupid, to be completely honest. I've already offered
alternate solutions, that is users who dislike the new change can disable
seeing these new static icons. Some may prefer having a text readout instead,
but again, that is an option users can make. Isn't the whole point of KDE to be
flexible and customisable to everyone's needs?

I understand the logic. However, it is also logical that if the user selects a
user/password protected disk or partition, it will ask the user for this
information and only if they are incorrect, deny access. This is how other
applications (such as those mentioned above) that allow partition copying do
it.

I think this should be an improvement to implement because in the meantime, I
won't be able to use the KDE partitioner to make partition copies.

Error on updating widget

SUMMARY
Widgets/Addons cannot be updated

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right-click and select `Add widgets...`
2. Click on button "Get new widgets..." and select "Download new plasma
widgets"
3. in window "Plasma Widgets", click on toolbar button "Show Only Updateable
Entries"
4. the window content shows "No items found" message, however if you select
"Show Only Installed Entries" button, the window content shows all widgets
installed, every entry showed has 2 floating buttons (Use, Uninstall) or 3
floating buttons (Use, Update, Uninstall). This means that updateable widgets
are not being recognized properly,
5. for updateable widgets, if you click on "Update" button, you get an error
message similar to this:

> Installation of /tmp/vsXxBE-Vivid-Dark-Plasma.tar.gz
> failed: /home/warcayac/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme/Vivid-Dark-Plasma
> already exists

the same happens when trying to update for Themes, styles, etc in the System
Settings.

OBSERVED RESULT
1. Updateable widgets are not listed on clicking on "Show Only Updateable
Entries" button
2. Updateable widgets raise error messages when updating

EXPECTED RESULT
1. Updateable widgets should be listed on clicking on "Show Only Updateable
Entries" button
2. Updateable widgets should be able to update

What we are asking for is to not see these two leaf/lightning symbols at all,
just show the battery indicator. The same behaviour as was used on Plasma 5.

I've been finally been able to install Fedora 40 and can't still reproduce the
problem :/

Can you do this (with the version that crashes)

Open a terminal
Start kwalletmanager5 and press the close wallet button (force if needed)
killall kwalletd6 (run it twice to make sure it has not re-spawned itself)
valgrind kwalletd6

Now in another terminal
kwalletmanager5 and press the open open wallet button
protonvpn-app

As far as i understand this is what makes it crash for you.

Then go to the terminal where you ran valgrind and attach the output here

It would be nice if the overview effect had a toggle (shortcut) for showing

arbitrary windows around to different desktops without having to use the
desktop grid. At the moment, one has to move to the desktop the window is on to
move it to another desktop, using the overview effect.

2024-03-25 Thread `{third : ;
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484494

Bug ID: 484494
Summary: Reintroduce the ability to specify clipboard
duplication format.
Classification: Applications

  Platform: openSUSE

  Priority: NOR
 Component: copy-paste
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: 4wy78...@rokejulianlockhart.addy.io
  Target Milestone: ---
 Flags: performance-

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Install
https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Factory/standard/x86_64/konsole-24.02.1-1.1.x86_64.rpm
(although the version which removed it was quite some time ago, this is at
least a reference).
1. Attempt to copy text in a specific format: plain text, or HTML.

OBSERVED RESULT

Konsole used to allow the user to choose plain text or HTML.

This is seriously problematic for me, because when the colour of a
command's output is integral to its readability (as is true for `dmesg`,
`journalctl --dmesg`, and `powershell`) I need to be able to copy the output in
its exact likeness. However, to do this, I must first paste it into something
which reports that it accepts HTML directly, like a web e-mail client, then
download that draft and extract the HTML from it. If this feature were
reimplemented, I'd merely need to choose a submenu and then paste it into my
text editor.

EXPECTED RESULT

It does not anymore.

Bug ID: 484492
Summary: Plasma Wayland fails to initialize Display Stream
Compression
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 6.0.2
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: multi-screen
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Hardware: Steam Deck/ROG Ally
Dock : Dell WD-19S
Monitors: 3 Lenovo Q27q-10 1440p 75 Hz

With all three monitors connected (MST and Display Stream Compression) Plasma
X11 can output to all three at their native 1440p 75 Hz.

When running Plasma Wayland, it's either

* 2 1440 75 Hz and the third monitor never initializes video (Does however show
up to KScreen)

* 1 1440 75 Hz and 2 1080 60 Hz (As if Display Stream Compression wasn't even
working to begin with)

I have confirmed on Gnome Wayland Mutter that all three monitors do work at
their native resolution for Wayland.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Plug in monitors
2. Go to Display Settings
3. Try to configure all three at native reosolution

OBSERVED RESULT

Acts like DSC isn't available and either 2 work or 3 work at reduced
resolution.

EXPECTED RESULT

All three to work at native resolution (As they do in Gnome)

SUMMARY
In plasma 5 you used to be able to press alt-tab, and then while holding alt,
click on an individual element in the tabbox to see the window preview in the
background. Now in plasma 6.0.2 if i do this the window gets raised but the
tabbox closes immediately. I can still use the window close buttons to close
windows without closing the tabbox though. This is observed with Thumbnail Grid
on both x11 and Wayland. I'm not 100% sure this is a bug but when i switch to
any other type of tabbox - Compact, Sidebar, Flip Switch - they all work as
intended from the previous version. Is this a bug or intended behavior?

I don't seem to see anything in journaltctl.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have Thumbnail Grid selected as kwin's tabbox style
2. Press alt-tab and hold alt
3. Select a window with mouse

OBSERVED RESULT
Window gets raised and tabbox disappears

EXPECTED RESULT
Window is previewed in the background, tabbox does not disappear and element
gets selected in the tabbox with the usual Breeze outline.

[ktorrent] [Bug 484489] New: Localised percent values are not reflected to UI

2024-03-25 Thread Emir SARI
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484489

Bug ID: 484489
Summary: Localised percent values are not reflected to UI
Classification: Applications
   Product: ktorrent
   Version: 24.02.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: joris.guis...@gmail.com
  Reporter: emir_s...@icloud.com
  Target Milestone: ---

A while ago, I've enabled localisations for all the percent values in KTorrent.
However, checking now the latest Git copy, although the values have been
translated long ago, they do not seem to be reflected into the UI.

To test easily, start KTorrent from the terminal with the LANG=tr variable.
Normally you should see the percent values on the main table view with the %100
format. However, they are still in 100% format.

There is one in the accessibility column in the info pane, it still reflects
the original string in "100 %" format. But in code they are all translated, and
should be %100.

Something simple, yet my mind cannot comprehend. What could be the reason?

This has been discussed many times, but the workflow is different.
You have to select the tag(s) first, not the checkbox. Then you can drop onto
the Tree View images and the selected tags will be assigned.

I can 100% reproduce the problem also on new system user accounts
plasma-desktop-5.27.11-1.fc39.x86_64

Steps to reproduce:
1) Connect two monitors with different DPIs
2) In system settings, choose "36" as mouse pointer size. My cursors theme is
Breeze light
3) logout and login
4) Open a few Gtk and Qt applications, you will see the mouse pointer being 48
size somewhere, and 32 size somewhere else, for example on title bar of various
windows

there is no longer a separate config page for the grid view in Plasma 6; so
this is no longer capable of happening.
