I looked into VLC and it's indeed a bug there. The DBus interface needs to
subscribe to on_length_changed and emit update for metadata. Unfortunately I
can't register an account on their GitLab instance, so I can't report the issue
there.

As always, I am old and lazy - so I use Archinstall and Architect to set up my
arch linux installation.
Ever since Plasma 6 started coming standard, I have noticed that upon logging
in, Plasma crashes/restarts. This obviously defaults my panels as well, which

Yeah, I'm having this same issue... Why does it require starting
"plasma-desktop" now for launching gui programs off dolphin :/? Have you found
a fix?

K3b asks user for confirmation each time before adding hidden files.

I am largely satisfied with K3b, and it is currently the most sophisticated
graphical disc authoring tool for Linux. However, the first burden I noticed on
K3b in comparison to ImgBurn is the pop-up that reads:

"Do you also want to add hidden files?"

My answer: If I didn't want to add hidden files, I wouldn't have selected them
to be added them to the project in the first place. 

This dialogue box is like asking "Do you also want to add video files?" - if I
didn't want to, I would not be trying to add those files right now.

This dialogue box serves no purpose. It is pointless. All it does is add an
extra step whenever the user wants to add files.

Please always add hidden files to the project without asking.

Just like file managers copy everything inside a selected folder, K3b should
add everything inside a folder to the project by default.

Not only is this message annoying, but the undesirable option "do not add" is
pre-selected and if I hit the space bar while that button is highlighted, I
need to start over adding the files.

On the first glance, "Do you also want to add hidden files?" might seem like a
trivial step, but repetition is where the annoyance comes from.

When adding thousands of files, the "Do you also want to add hidden files?" pop
up usually appears with a delay. So the user has to wait until they can confirm
that yes, they want to add hidden files.

Anyone who frequently uses K3b will understand how annoying this dialogue is.
It gets in the way and interrupts the workflow.

I hope you will consider my suggestion to remove this annoyance, because any
removed annoyance is progress.

Kompare can technically be built against KF6 since May 2023. But it was
disabled for the required dependency libkomparediff2:
https://invent.kde.org/sdk/libkomparediff2/-/commit/2422cb5c16ad7091dc93a8cfb7c6deabe110b8af
because that library is also used in KDevelop, which is not yet ready for KF6.

It should theoretically be possible to build either master with the above
libkomparediff2 commit reverted or the dedicated kf6 branches against KF6, but
you will be building libkomparediff2 with a non-finalized API that is still
subject to change (master has the same API as the KF5 version even if you build
it against KF6, the kf6 branch has some API changes, but it might be getting
some more for KDevelop), and you also need a separate KF5 build of
libkomparediff2 for KDevelop. Those are probably the reasons why your
downstream distribution is still building Kompare against KF5.

SUMMARY

I am running Hyprland, and want to have the nice KDE file picker via xdp.

I've configured xdp like so in my hyprland-portals.conf:

Two issues, possibly connected:
 - When launching xdp, the KDE portal gets stuck for about 20s. This is highly
annoying.
 - Even when launched, sometimes, the file picker just... won't open, ever.
Seems like xdpk just... died.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

I have a script for forcing the restart like so:

Launching this script (or, well, getting sysd to do it on start) will produce
the above issues.

OBSERVED RESULT

I've attached the logs from stracing and setting QT_LOGGING_RULES=*=true from
both occurrences (stuck at start and stopping working)

Worth noting that even after those logs it sometimes gets restarted
automatically and works, sometimes doesn't...?

Well, none of the two above.

Thank you for your report!
Fix for "Amarok found 0 tracks on an audio CD when it appeared in Media
Sources" was merged in a couple of days ago, and fix for crash occurring with
"Play audio CD with Amarok" just a moment ago. (They will be included in the
upcoming 2.9.76 release)

Fix --cdplay command line option

First, avoid touching MainWindow member variables before MainWindow is
constructed to avoid immediate segfault.

Second, don't try casting cd collection to MemoryCollection, which it doesn't
inherit (at least anymore). Casting to MediaDeviceCollection actually works.
Hard to tell since when this has been broken, but most of relevant code seems
to be last changed in 2010 or earlier, so possibly a while.

Media Player Classic Qute Theater

VLC is still buggy (I'm not aware of any report in its bug tracker), QMPlay2
does not play a dvd disc. The seek bar works with all other mentioned players.

I think I no longer have this problem with kdesrc-built Plasma. With stable
packages built by openSUSE, Plasma sometimes fails to recover at all after
suspend, but that's a different issue.

Small plasmoid for see the issue

SUMMARY

On "plasmoidviewer" the size set with "Layout.preferred*" differ from desktop
shell.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download the attachment
2. Run it in desktop shell (the script "real-test.sh" install it and restart
the shell)
3. Run it in "plasmoidviewer" (the script "test.sh" launch it)
4. see the difference on right side

OBSERVED RESULT
On "plasmoidviewer" the root item is slightly smaller then the representation.

EXPECTED RESULT
Same render between both shells.

SUMMARY
When KDE Connect receives a file with a name identical to a file already in the
downloads folder, it renames the incoming file appending '(1)' to it and
displays a notification saying "Receiving File (Finished)". However, the file
that's shown in the notification text and that gets opened with the "Open with"
button still is the original, unrenamed one.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a file in the downloads folder of the computer that will receive the
file and give it a name
2. Send a file with the same name and extension from the KDE Connect mobile app
3. Observe the "Receiving File (Finished)" notification on the device that
received the file
4. Click "Open With [Default Program]" on the same notification

OBSERVED RESULT
The notification shows and opens the file that was already in the downloads
folder (the one created in step 1)

EXPECTED RESULT
The notification shows and opens the new, renamed file with the (1) appended to
its file name.

I am having a similar problem and have spent DAYS debugging what is going on
although my situation is slightly different, I think it may point to the root
cause.

I am running Tumbleweed 20240319 which has krdc 24.02.0-1.1 but I have
replicated the problem on a test machine which is running TW 20240328 ( the
latest ) and using krdc 24-02.1-1.1.

In my case, initially I have no problems using krdc to connect to the xrdp
server.   

BUT, I need to rename the server that is hosting xrdp and after I rename the
server from OLD-NAME to NEW-NAME then BOTH krdc 24.02.0-1.1 and krdc
24.02.1-1.1  experience the BLUE screen and do not get the desktop.

Although either krdc version has the blue screen problem, I have no problems
remotely connecting using xfreerdp or remmina to the NEW-NAME server and ping
and ssh also work using the NEW-NAME.

Even Windows 10 clients can connect to NEW-NAME with no issues.

Generally the other clients display a unknown certificate error but after you
accept and continue then your are logged in and the desktop is displayed.

If I rename the server back to OLD-NAME then krdc starts working again.
If I rename the server back to NEW-NAME then krdc gets the blue screen again
and yet EVERYTHING else works fine with NEW-NAME.

I even went as far as building a new VM with a fresh TW install and that VM
experiences the same issues.

On TW, xrdp uses /usr/bin/xrdp-keygen to generate /etc/xrdp/rsakeys.ini which
has the key/cert used by the xrdp connections.

If you generate your own key/cert and then modify /etc/xrdp/xrdp.ini to set the
certificate= and file_key= lines to the generated files and then restart the
xrdp service, then all clients work with NEW-NAME ( after accepting the unknown
certificate ) except for krdc.

For krdc it displays the unknown certificate message ( unlike when using the
keys from rsakeys.ini ) but after selecting Continue you are still left with
the blue screen.   At one point I even  heard the login sound play but still no
desktop is displayed with krdc.

Since everything else works fine with the NEW-NAME for the server EXCEPT for
krdc that seems to point to it being the problem.

NOTE:  I have renamed xrdp servers in the past and have not run into this
problem.

Hopefully my detailed analysis helps you to identify what is wrong with krdc.

SUMMARY


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable blur and noise
2. Increase noise till it's clearly visible
3. Move window around

OBSERVED RESULT
The noise moves in the opposite direction relative to the direction the window
is moved.

EXPECTED RESULT
It to remain static like it did previously. Meaning before it seemed like it
was as if there was a large noise image composited over the entire desktop and
that was superimposed over the blur regions. Meaning when you moved a window
the noise would move but only relative to the window, not to the desktop
itself.

When using an vertical (floating) panel and setting seconds to show always, the

I was looking into this, the script mentioned earlier seems to get a .tar file
from "build-artifacts.kde.org", which does not resolve on my computer (down?).
That's most likely the issue here, it can't extract the icons, because it's not
able to download them, and as a result of that the icon browser is
nonfunctional. I'm not sure if it's hosted anywhere else, but maybe using an
archive.org link in the script could work, albeit a little slow.

The commit that causes it was cherry-picked to the stable branch, so in
principle it could.

But to be sure, I just built Discover from the stable branch and indeed, it

In fact, none fields are removed from the adjusted file. This (false) problem
seems to come from exiftool. I made the same command for both files : exiftool
-G1 -api QuickTimeUTC  but these "missing" fields are not displayed on
the adjusted file except if i add the exiftool -a option (which is not needed
for the untouched file). It is a little bit strange but it is not a digikam
problem.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open at least 2 activities
2. Open an application on one Activity only
3. in the task panel, drag and drop the desired app to activity widget and drop
on move

OBSERVED RESULT
nothing change. App not moved or copy to desire activity


EXPECTED RESULT
copy or move the app to selected activity

I thought it could be because I was using a combination of different locales
for different things, but switching a few to C hasn't worked. I think I'll
close this until it occurs again, but I'll ensure that I run Skanlite with the
debugger from here onward in case it does again.
