[qca] [Bug 482819] kwalletd6 sometimes crashed in QCA::PrivateKey::deriveKey when starting Proton VPN GUI

2024-03-30 Thread Matt Fagnani
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482819

I think I've found why the problem happened on my system but not yours. The
openssl config file /etc/pki/tls/openssl.cnf was last modified in September
2020 at the time I ran a SCAP Workbench remediation script which modified
/etc/pki/tls/openssl.cnf to add lines about the Fedora crypto policies.
/etc/pki/tls/openssl.cnf wasn't updated since then because rpm doesn't change
config files that don't match those in the update. I moved
/etc/pki/tls/openssl.cnf to /etc/pki/tls/openssl.cnf.rpmold and moved
/etc/pki/tls/openssl.cnf.rpmnew from February 2024 to /etc/pki/tls/openssl.cnf.
I rebooted. kwalletd6 didn't crash when I started Proton VPN GUI or logged in
using it on the next boot using the new openssl config file. The newer openssl
config has a section not in the older one which shows that the legacy providers
are disabled unless certain lines in the following are uncommented.

# Uncomment the sections that start with ## below to enable the legacy
provider.
# Loading the legacy provider enables support for the following algorithms:
# Hashing Algorithms / Message Digests: MD2, MD4, MDC2, WHIRLPOOL, RIPEMD160
# Symmetric Ciphers: Blowfish, CAST, DES, IDEA, RC2, RC4,RC5, SEED
# Key Derivation Function (KDF): PBKDF1
# In general it is not recommended to use the above mentioned algorithms for
# security critical operations, as they are cryptographically weak or
vulnerable
# to side-channel attacks and as such have been deprecated.

[provider_sect]
default = default_sect
##legacy = legacy_sect
##
[default_sect]
activate = 1

##[legacy_sect]

Yes, this was not found on the new user and I had to reset the configuration.
But this is a migration problem. When I deleted the config piece by piece, I
caught several files that caused this to happen.

 So I will list:
rkwardrc
q4winerc
showfotorc
qTorrentrc
qImprc
sddmthemeinstallerrc
SimplePlayerrc
QtCreatorrc
QtProject.conf

Is there anyone among them who is guilty of freezing?

Does it mean they were created for KDE5? Probably there should be another

I created an OpenPGP key in KGpg. I exported my Blowfish encrypted wallet, and
then I deleted it in kwalletmanager. I created a new wallet with my OpenPGP key
in kwalletmanager. The Proton VPN GUI and kwalletd6 didn't crash when I started
the Proton VPN GUI, but when I tried to log in to Proton VPN, kwalletd6 crashed
with the same trace and an error popup like "Something went wrong. We're sorry,
a problem occurred" was shown in Proton VPN GUI. I think the problem occurred
when logging in instead of starting because the wallet was empty at that point.
This test and the following were with qca 2.3.8 plus the patch in comment 11.

In another Plasma session, I closed the new wallet encrypted with the OpenPGP
key in kwalletmanager. I ran killall kwalletd6 twice as suggested in comment 9.
I ran OPENSSL_CONF=openssl.cnf kwalletd6 I opened the wallet in kwalletmanager.
I ran Proton VPN GUI and logged in. The login completed without the kwalletd6
crash or the Proton VPN error happening. So this test supports your theory.

I closed the wallet again in kwalletmanager. I ran killall kwalletd6 twice. I
ran ltrace -fCl 'libcrypto*' kwalletd6. Proton VPN crashed when starting, and
kwalletd6 also crashed as shown in the following output.

[kwin] [Bug 484794] New: Some Fullscreen Apps get minimized when switching from one Virtual Desktop to another Virtual Desktop

2024-03-30 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484794

Bug ID: 484794
Summary: Some Fullscreen Apps get minimized when switching from
one Virtual Desktop to another Virtual Desktop
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 6.0.3
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: core
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: asgard...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Some apps, since I upgraded from KDE5 (openSUSE TW snapshot 2024-03-07) to KDE6
(openSUSE TW snapshot 2024-03-29), now get minimized when switching from one
Virtual Desktop to another.

I first noticed this bugs right after upgrading to KDE6, cause one of the game
I was always playing now had this issue. It seem to only affect TRUE full
screen mods, and not just maximized window. Whats more, not all apps are
affected. Couldn't find a common denominator yet. Some are Wines apps, some are
Native...

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a true full screen apps
2. Switch from one Virtual desktop to another (Either through shortcut (CTRL +
Meta + Keyboard Arrow key), through Cube, or through Meta + G

OBSERVED RESULT
After having switched to another VD, some fullscreen apps immediately get
minimized. One can see that with different ways ; Either by going back to the
virtual desktop with the apps, where one will notice the apps is now minimized,
or by opening the Cube, where on the cube's surface where the apps was supposed
to appear, its now an empty cube face with the desktop.

Here are some example of apps where bug trigger or not ;
- WoT in Lutris (Wine + Proton) : Bug happen
- Tropico 5 in steam (Linux Native) : Bug don't happen
- Stellaris in steam (Linux Native) : Bug happen
- Cities Skylines in steam (Linux Native) : Bug don't happen
- Baldure gate 3 in steam (Wine + Proton) Bug don't happen

>From speaking with people on Fedora discord, someone using Arch linux was able
to reproduce same bugs with a fullscreen Minecraft window... Arch linux and KDE

[dolphin] [Bug 484793] New: File type/associations not being correctly detected on locally mounted samba shares

2024-03-30 Thread DT
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484793

Bug ID: 484793
Summary: File type/associations not being correctly detected on
locally mounted samba shares
Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 24.02.1
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: dustintownsen...@protonmail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 167969
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=167969=edit
Image of sample directory demonstrating file types not being displayed
correctly

SUMMARY
When accessing files via a locally mounted samba share, files lacking a
filename extension are not having their filetypes correctly detected and
displayed.

For instance, a plain text file named "test" is displayed as "Type: Unknown,
Content: Plain text document" with a "?" icon.
In contrast, a plain text file named "test.txt" is displayed as "Type: Plain
text document" with the correct icon.
This holds true for other file types. It is also problematic when attempting to
access, say, a plaintext file with a ".conf' extension.

When attempting to open a file lacking a filename extension, "Okteta" is being
defaulted to as the default application. When using the "open with" dialogue
and selecting another application (along with ticking the "Remember application
association for all files of this type" box), such as Kwrite for text files,
the application association is not being saved, and Okteta remains the default
application.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Mount a remote samba share locally with the following command:
mount -t cifs -o "uid=1000,gid=1000,file_mode=0644,dir_mode=0755,vers=3.0"
//remotehost/share ~/localdir
2. Access directory via Dolphin
3. Attempt to access a file lacking a filename extension
4. Attempt to set an application association for a file lacking a filename
extension

OBSERVED RESULT
The file's type is not being correctly displayed within Dolphin, and attempts
to set application associations are not being registered.

EXPECTED RESULT
The file's type should be displayed irrespective of the filename extension, and
applications associations should be registering correctly.

-- Information about the crash:
Running Tumbleweed with the NVIDIA and KDE repo's.

After installing all the latest updates today (all 2700+ of them,) I rebooted
the system. First thing I did was to run JetBrains IDEA to see if the updates
had solved the sluggishness problems (seems like a huge improvement for
Tumbleweed and Plasma but the IDEA IDE is still pretty-much unusable. FWIW the
JetBrains Fleet IDE seems to work well.)

The crash reporter appeared when I exited the IDE.

The reporter is unsure if this crash is reproducible.

Now that it doesn't crash "automatically" any more.

I can see the new "display" in the display configuration (with the correct

I try to connect with the ipad and I"m prompted for the password as expected.
As soon as I complete authentication, krfb-virtualmonitor crashes:

I have narrowed this down further
Qt5 application windows open seem to instigate this crash.

Steam and Corectrl being two.

If you stop the service while a qt5 application is open xwayland will crash.

[krfb] [Bug 470996] krfb-virtualmonitor 23.x crashes

2024-03-30 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470996

--- Comment #17 from ian+bugs.kde@strataconnect.net ---
@Antti - I tested and you're right - it doesn't crash "automatically" any more.

I'm using remote ripple on an ipad to test the vnc connection (image quality
normal, encoding I tried Raw and ZRLE so far)

> krfb-virtualmonitor --resolution 1024x768 --name [name] --password [password]
> --port 5900 --scale 1

I can see the new "display" in the display configuration (with the correct
dimensions and everything - win!)
I try to connect with the ipad and I"m prompted for the password as expected.
As soon as I complete authentication, krfb-virtualmonitor crashes:

Output:
=

kf.notifications: No event config could be found for event id

fish: Job 1, 'krfb-virtualmonitor --resolutio…' terminated by signal SIGABRT

==
and the ipad returns that the connection was shut down "gracefully"

Happy to do additional tests to assist with debugging (I'll need detailed
instructions/commandlines)

Oops. I have now reinstalled the system.
The system exits sleep mode on the 550 drivers, on wayland, without errors.
Apparently the old system had accumulated errors from constant testing of
different versions of the compiled packages for KDE6.

It was actually applied to all branches except for one, which was the one I

I've noticed that certain folder icons in Breeze don't respect the accent
color.

Icons I've noticed in include folder-design, folder-drawing, folder-chart,
folder-presentation, and folder-notes

Another strange thing is, the correct accent-colored icon will appear in the
properties dialog, just not Dolphin.

The correct icons also appear in the XDG portal, it's just a Dolphin issue as
far I've observed.

Thanks! I just tested it and the issue looks be solved.
The only problem is that, when a text contains Lam-Alef, emojis in that line of
text are messed (Seems to happen only in those lines).
I'll Attach a video to show the test.

[krita] [Bug 484715] crash upon opening past files

Hi, unfortunately, this is the only official package provided by the Krita team
for the Linux users. It is beta-tested and reduce the amount of bugs. All other
packages are community based...

You don't have to install the AppImage. Just download it from krita.org, then
right click to make it executable and double-click the file to launch Krita.
That's all, you can use this just to compare if the issue you have is Snap
specific.

SUMMARY
When Krita recorder is on, it seems that lasso selections and brush strokes are
interrupted by the recorder, causing selections to complete early before pen
tip is raised off tablet. Similar with non-freehand shape brushes, like
rectangle circle etc

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. enable recorder set to small seconds interval
2. try using freehand selection/ lasso, rectangle, circle etc tool
3. usually, the selection will complete itself before your pen lifts from the
surface

OBSERVED RESULT
Shapes, freehand selection tool, complete early when recorder is on

EXPECTED RESULT
recorder should not interrupt selection

Dolphin does save layout on, program correct exit, but in reality you need it
most on sudden crashes, or kills. For now it pickup save from previous
successful shutdown. Which is can be not exactly what user want.
Make more sense save layout exactly after it active, as many IDEs does for keep
work save. Save on change no on exist.

After trying various things (removing optional dependencies for py-lsp for

5 version of kate - being the culprit here.
Will try to isolate it to some (set of?) settings or sanitize a bit and attach
the config here, but a tad later.

Sound completely crashed in and show no outputs. If I connect HDMI output

I still can use HDMI on reconnect, but no standard output soundcard anymore in

Reason why I'm trying to do so, I want connect HDMI headphones, but HDMI itself
incapable transfer sound without video, do it created 'virtual monitor' which
unfortunate counts with system (no way setup it like 1 pixel size), or split it
from board for not used spaces by windows.

Thanks for the patch, great find. I tested this on my ThinkPad, latest master
branch, and it indeed makes a difference there as well.

I did a little bit of digging in the commit history, my reading is that the
removal of this condition was probably unintentional. It got removed together
with another condition in the same line that did indeed have to disappear due
to a refactoring. More details and perhaps also a confirmation of this theory
in the merge request that will get linked by the bot in the next comment.

This bug is still present in Okular 23.08.5.

The error was fixed upstream in https://github.com/jlaurens/synctex/pull/39 but
reappeared, because the fix was only applied to one branch. I filed a new
upstream bug here: https://github.com/jlaurens/synctex/issues/80

There are two related pull requests currently open:
https://invent.kde.org/graphics/okular/-/merge_requests/722
https://invent.kde.org/graphics/okular/-/merge_requests/723

[digikam] [Bug 484758] Displayed dates on Metadata panels come from different dates found in a video file from Ricoh GR II (inconsistency ?)

2024-03-30 Thread mahikeulbody
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484758

We could reasonably expect the dates into the XMP-Exif-specific Properties
sub-panel to be the same as in Exif Panel.

Having said that, I don't think this minor "bug" deserves much more attention.
This report was more of a warning in case this behavior would not be what was
intended.

[Breeze] [Bug 483575] Delay time between click and menu appearing

2024-03-30 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483575

--- Comment #3 from giuseppelovare...@gmail.com ---
Thank you for testing it out!
Actually, I think that the issue is most visible when you set the animation
speed to instantaneous.
I attached a screen recording of the hamburger menu behavior in systemsettings.
It is a slight delay (and maybe you'll think that I am crazy), but I hope to
make my point crystal clear with this.

Wish you a great weekend, folks! :)

PS the interface is in Italian. The slider is the "animation speed" one.
