[kwin] [Bug 460437] Show launchers for favorite applications in Overview effect
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460437 --- Comment #5 from Nate Graham --- We have three practical options for how to do this, if we want to do it: 1. Give overview its own set of favorite apps - Pros: easy - Cons: a *third* source of favorite apps that doesn't sync with either Kicker/Kickoff favorites or Task Manager pinned apps. Feels messy. 2. Expose Kicker/Kickoff favorites to Overview - Pros: those favorites are global in scope, matching the scope of Overview - Cons: would require making Activities a dependency; see Bug 449919. Possibly stuff from Plasma's Kicker model would also need to be broken out into a non-Plasma library so that Overview would use it without formally depending on Plasma 3. Expose the pinned apps from a particular Task Manager to Overview - Pros: apps in Overview match the apps you see visually on your panel's task manager - Cons: these pinned apps are per-panel so the scope doesn't match. Also, there are similar concerns about needing to use a separate library to get the data I think option #2 would be best if we want to do this. #1 seems undesirable and #3 seems both undesirable and infeasible. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 483957] Add the option to Overview effect to turn Add/Remove Virtual Desktop Buttons on or off
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483957 --- Comment #3 from tracyanne --- 1/ In my case, least I prefer to have a set number of virtual desktops, and ... 2/ The functionality is already available on the Desktop Grid. 3/ In order to get that functionality on the Plasma 5 Overview I have been editing the QML and removing the buttons. I have a small script that takes care of system updates. 4/ Adding that functionality to the Overview would make it consistent with the Desktop Grid, and achieve the same or similar affect. 5/ I think it would be useful for those, who like me prefer the set the number of Virtual Desktops in the Workspace Behaviour/Virtual Desktops area. 6/ My personal reasons for having a preset, and 'immutable' number of desktops, is so I can open different Applications on predefined Virtual desktops, and I, personally, at least, don't want to accidentally remove a Virtual Desktop, when navigating around either Overview or Desktop Grid. Nor do I want to add Virtual desktops, once I have things configured. 7/ I believe others will find this useful. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Probably not feasible unfortunately. I think when you say you want to see the panel, it's possible that what you mean is that you want a program launcher visible in Overview. That's theoretically more feasible. It would require a lot of re-plumbing though, as we'd have to expose either the Kickoff/Kicker favorites or a particular Task Manager instance's pinned apps via a new separate library that both plasma-desktop and KWin could use. We couldn't grab the data right from Plasma without this library approach as this would make Plasma a dependency of KWin and make it impossible to use separately. I think it would make the most sense to expose Kicker/Kickoff favorites since those are global in scope already, matching Overview's scope. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

On the internal display everything looks fine, but if I disable scaling, titlebar becomes distorted too. On the external display at 100% looks distorted, 125% looks fine. [KScreen] [Bug 483841] Monitors overlap in settings and become mirrored after wake from suspend
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483841 --- Comment #2 from Kalzi --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > After you move the screens so they're not overlapping anymore, does it > thereafter continue to work? Or do they somehow get overlapped/mirrored > again in the future? They continue to work normal until the PC suspends then I wake it up. Then they're mirrored. It doesn't happen every single time lately, probably every 3rd or 4th time, and it's a simple fix, as I just need to get into the settings and move the monitors next to each other and apply and keep changes -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kde] [Bug 483500] Window titles should have a unique and consistent pattern that can be matched with a simple regex
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483500 --- Comment #2 from gravy_starving...@simplelogin.com --- That's not what I meant, my request is about the window naming convention of KDE applications. Of the window rules I've set, only KDE applications have required a regex with exclusions: Dolphin, Konsole, and Ark. Kate only avoided this because the main window's title starts with the current session's name, which allows for a simple rule. While this has only been an issue for me with these particular applications, a quick look at other KDE applications installed on my system shows most of them also follow the same window naming scheme, so I generalized the issue instead of pointing to any one specific thing. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Spectacle] [Bug 485350] New: In Spectacle, there is no way to do a text paragraph (Enter) without triggering the "Take Photo" function
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485350 Bug ID: 485350 Summary: In Spectacle, there is no way to do a text paragraph (Enter) without triggering the "Take Photo" function Classification: Applications Product: Spectacle Version: unspecified Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: General Assignee: noaha...@gmail.com Reporter: eduardosare...@gmail.com CC: k...@david-redondo.de Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When doing a selection for a screenshot and then adding text to it, if we ever need to click the Enter key to add a paragraph or just do a line break to continue adding more text in the line bellow, Spectacle just immediatly takes the screenshot (because Spectacle reads the Enter key as the "accept" key). Trying the shift + Enter shortcut does not work, it still takes the screenshot. Suggestion: Spectacle should probably disable the "Enter to save the screenshot" shortcut while the user is currently editing text on a text box to the screenshot selection, and clicking Enter should do a line break instead. Or, another idea would be to make Enter finish the text box editing (but still stay in the selection screen), so the user could add another text box bellow it as needed, and also read the Shift + Enter universal shortcut as a line break on the current text box that is being edited. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Initiate a selection for a new screenshot with Spectacle; 2. Right in the selection, add a text box and write some text; 3. Try to do a line break/paragraph, but notice that Spectacle just finishes the screenshot even if you were just trying to add a paragraph to your text. OBSERVED RESULT Spectacle finishes editing and takes the screenshot right when Enter is pressed (with text being added). EXPECTED RESULT Being able to do line breaks/paragraphs when adding text to screenshot selections. [i18n] [Bug 485349] New: Missing pt_PT localization for most of Plasma 6 (and apps) new and/or reworked features
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485349 Bug ID: 485349 Summary: Missing pt_PT localization for most of Plasma 6 (and apps) new and/or reworked features Classification: Translations Product: i18n Version: unspecified Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: pt Assignee: j...@netcabo.pt Reporter: eduardosare...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 168371 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=168371=edit System Settings example SUMMARY After Plasma 6 upgrade, most of the new features that were added or reworked lost their correct localization. All relevant localization packages (i10n) are installed correctly and fully updated. After checking at - https://l10n.kde.org/stats/gui/stable-kf6/team/pt/ - I can see that there are in fact many missing translations for KDE 6. So this report is more of a reminder or "ping" to try and reach someone who can maybe help solve this, or maybe even ping/notify the pt_PT translation team. Many critical parts of the system are not localized now on Plasma 6. This does not only affect some obscure menus, but most importantly affects very forward facing menus, settings and descriptions. Stuff like main "1st level" menus in the system settings are not localized at all, and/or there is a serious mix of English and Portuguese. This affects specifically the European Portuguese locale (pt_PT or only "pt"). I have not tested the pt_BR (Brazilian Portuguese) locale. I will add in the attachments section some screenshots with annotations to serve as quick examples. This might also be important for this report, I don't know if this might have triggered any bug related to these missing localizations or not, but I will just link it anyway: https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kde-i18n-doc/2023-January/001340.html OBSERVED RESULT Mixed of English and Portuguese localization all throughout the desktop and many of the KDE applications. EXPECTED RESULT As close as possible to "everything" being correctly localized to the chosen language (in this case, pt_PT).
