[Discover] [Bug 485257] Snapd Backend crashes in SnapBackend::populateJobsWithFilter() with Plasma 6 Discover
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485257 Jonathan L Hanmann changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED Resolution|--- |NOT A BUG --- Comment #3 from Jonathan L Hanmann --- After a lot of trial and error I found that it was indeed due to my snapd-glib-qt. Since I'm building on Ubuntu Noble (beta obviously I guess) the existing package is built against Qt 6.42 probably. This caused the symbol problem which I tried to work around by changing the QStringList to a QList which appeared to work. Although it built ok it caused the runtime crash somehow. I don't understand that exact mechanism. My solution was to build Qt 6.7.0 packages for my system. That took several days to figure out all by itself. I then rebuilt Snapd-Glib against Qt 6.7.0 using. When I installed that and then rebuilt Discover, voila!, it now appears to start and work ok. I will close this if I am allowed to since it was my own problem which I've now resolved. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485928 Bug ID: 485928 Summary: Input sanitisation in profile fields. Classification: Websites Product: bugs.kde.org Version: unspecified Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: database Assignee: sysad...@kde.org Reporter: 4wy78...@rokejulianlockhart.addy.io CC: she...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Flags: performance- Created attachment 168773 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=168773=edit Issue. SUMMARY I received a message via e-mail today informing me that my strange choice to use JSON in my name field had caused mail delivery issues and unsubscription from a development mailing list. I'm mighty annoyed to have caused such a thing, and hope to prevent it occurring in the future. Consequently, I propose that some basic input sanitisation be implemented in the field entry forms to prevent characters (or combinations thereof, although that seems infeasible to test) which would cause issues being entered. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Don't do this, but inputting JSON in the name field shall cause problems. OBSERVED RESULT A user can cause problems to the mail server parsing, which ideally shouldn't be possible. EXPECTED RESULT The input form should be sanitized to prevent a user entering problematic characters. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Attached is the original message, and a relevant message from a mail service which might have encountered the same issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Environment: Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4 Application: KDE Discover KDE Frameworks: 6.1.0 Kernel Version: 6.8.7-arch1-1 (64-bit) Qt Version: 6.7.0 Windowing System: Wayland CPU: Ryzen 7 5700 GPU: RX 6700XT RAM: 32GB DDR4 SUMMARY When using the overview animations, the window snapping animations, or scrolling in system settings, the frame rate seems to be capped at 60hz, even though I have the refresh rate set to that of my monitor, 165hz. Additionally, when scrolling in system settings the scrolling on the sidebar suddenly becomes a higher refresh rate when the "Colors and Themes" option is clicked. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Using a high refresh rate monitor, set the refresh rate of plasmashell to the highest refresh rate. 2. To find the scrolling issue, open system settings, and start scrolling on the sidebar, then click Colors and Themes, and back to the main menu, then start scrolling again, it becomes smooth. 3. Either open the overview or snap a window to the side to see how stuttery they look compared to the same animations in either GNOME or Windows 10/11. OBSERVED RESULT Animations that are for some reason capped at 60hz. EXPECTED RESULT The animations should happen at the set refresh rate. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The animations all appear to be smoother on x11 then wayland, which is odd, because everything else is smoother on wayland for me. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

KDE doesn't support completely detached displays anyway. I'm taking about when the mouse cursor hits an edge where it can't cross into the other display because it's not aligned. [Marknote] [Bug 485925] New: Suggestion: make MarkNote more streamlined for adding notes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485925 Bug ID: 485925 Summary: Suggestion: make MarkNote more streamlined for adding notes Classification: Applications Product: Marknote Version: 1.1.1 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: General Assignee: m...@kaidan.im Reporter: k...@callthecomputerdoctor.com CC: c...@carlschwan.eu, m...@kaidan.im Target Milestone: --- I found out about MarkNote on The Planet and have installed it via Flatpak, works great. I have been looking for a native KDE note taking app to replace BasKet Note Pads, which seems to have stalled development. One thing that works great from a workflow perspective that makes BasKet frictionless and a joy to use is that I don't have to slow down to name a note ahead of time. Most times, I simply want to start typing right away. In this case, the first line of the note automatically and always is the title/name of the note by the fact that it's the first line and is the most top-of-mind. This UI concept was used in the classic PalmPilot Notes app to great effect. You just added a new note, wrote it out, and then when you clicked Done, you saw an elided version of the note's first line as the note's title in the list of notes. It was very simple and intuitive to use. I really wish more note taking apps were like that--make it fast, frictionless and intuitive. My wish is to eliminate the "New note: input name, Save / Cancel" dialog after I click the + to add a new note and just take me right into the note where I can begin typing. That would be great. Along these lines, I suggest an option to automatically style the first line or not. Not everyone will want to have the first line be Large, Bolded Title Text. Nice app, though! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
