[angelfish] [Bug 486463] Opening a link in a new tab automatically and unexpectedly switches you to that tab and show a popup largely blocking the tab switcher button to switch back
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486463 Kevin Kofler changed: What|Removed |Added CC||kevin.kof...@chello.at --- Comment #7 from Kevin Kofler --- > Default to not switching to new tabs I am not convinced just changing the default for this flag is the proper fix for the issue, unless its behavior has changed since last time I tried it. I have found this behavior of links opening in new tabs activating that tab annoying as well, so I tried to run with "switchToNewTab=false" for a while. I have given up on it because I actually found it MORE annoying. The issue is that this also applies not only to tabs opened from links, but also to tabs that I open explicitly from the Angelfish menus. And those tabs, I most definitely DO want to switch to, because that is what I opened them for. So with "switchToNewTab=false", I have to then do 2 extra touches to actually switch to the tab I just opened before entering the URL in it. So what I would like to see as the default, or at least as an option, is a mode where switching to new tabs is disabled for tabs opened from links (either because the website says so or because I picked "Open in new tab"), but enabled for tabs opened explicitly through the "new tab" button in the Angelfish UI. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[amarok] [Bug 486517] Cannot play audio CDs with Amarok because it always shows 0 tracks
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486517 --- Comment #7 from Tuomas Nurmi --- "but it _is_ possible to open the CD in Dolphin.": Yes, indeed, as Dolphin in Fedora 40 is KF6/Qt6 based version, so it works with KF6 audiocd, while Amarok is KF5/Qt5 and would work only with KF5 audiocd. My communication was probably a bit messy, apologies for that. I'm not quite sure what to make of the fact that there are FC40 packages for KF5 audiocd listed at https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=23585 but they have been since deleted. It could be that they were dropped because they didn't seem to be needed any more, or because they caused some issues / cannot be installed if a KF6 audiocd is installed. This is probably a question where Fedora people have better knowledge than I do. (But whatever may be the case, will be automatically fixed when Amarok gets to Qt6/KF6) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Using the "Touchpad Toggle" keyboard shortcut (Fn+F9) to disable the touchpad.) After a reboot with the touchpad being disabled from a previous session, pressing the "Touchpad Toggle" keyboard shortcut to enable it does not work initially. Pressing it for a second time enables the touchpad and from then on everything works as expected. My guess is that after booting, the system expects the touchpad to be enabled, hence the first time "Touchpad Toggle" is pressed, the message to disable it is broadcasted regardless of its actual state, resulting in no change in the touchpad status. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use the "Touchpad Toggle" keyboard shortcut to disable the touchpad. 2. Reboot. 3. Press the "Touchpad Toggle" keyboard shortcut once to enable the touchpad. OBSERVED RESULT No changes in touchpad status. EXPECTED RESULT Touchpad should be enabled with the first button press. [kwin] [Bug 486599] Request for a use-native-DPI setting
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486599 --- Comment #6 from Michael Hamilton --- (In reply to Zamundaaa from comment #5) > Sorry, but if you want to have content be shown at specific (physical or > otherwise) sizes, you need to request that feature from apps, otherwise you > will never have any guarantees - no matter if system wide scaling is > involved or not. Thanks for taking the time to think over the request and providing some feedback, much appreciated. A few comments... For photographic images, if I set scaling to 1.0, I cannot see any sensible photo application deciding to overrule that. I think that's a pretty safe. The less guaranteed side is having document viewers that can show documents at actual print-size or with the correct drawing scale. While there may be no guarantees, all document oriented applications have historically "just worked" as long as the desktop DPI can be set to the actual DPI of the viewing device. Up until now this has been pretty easy to achieve. > > > Providing no attempt is made to defeat the use of QT_FONT_DPI, could it at > > least be acceptable that it remains a documented solution that can be > > employed in such cases? > We can't ensure that workarounds keep working, as it comes at the cost of > the intended system working. If it turns out that many people are causing > bugs on their PC by having the environment variable set, we might override > it in Plasma at some point. In making this request, I'm raising an issue around supporting a particular user-case and describing how I really use the desktop on a daily basis. Which is not to say you "have to" support this use-case, but to at least raise some awareness that some of us work this way and you might like to take that into consideration going forward in some way or other. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486755 --- Comment #1 from Maik Qualmann --- The fact that you have image entries where the album is NULL is a completely normal process in the digiKam database. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486757 Bug ID: 486757 Summary: KWin_Wayland crash after firefox crash. Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.0.4 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: wayland-generic Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: minecraftche...@outlook.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 169287 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=169287=edit Plasma Crash Report Console History. *** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY I was running a Plasma Wayland session on ArchLinux , fully updated less then a week prior, to run A/V for a school play. I opened a .WAV file from dolphin, which opened in VLC, and Firefox crashed when I pressed play in VLC. OBS was recording a Jits call in virtual desktop #3, while Impress was playing a presentation in Desktop #1. Right when Firefox crashed, all of my screens went black, and the music that was playing in an already opened VLC window (same window the WAV file opened in) stopped playing, and did not resume (likely this is not related to the crash, but mentioning anyways). When the screens came back, the laptop display showed fine, but the second display (which is connected through a BlackMagic SDI Matrix, hooked through an HDMI-SDI interface) showed half of the first displays content on one side, and half of what should be on the second display on the other half. In display settings, both display objects had gradient (can't remember the color), and were placed side by side like normal. Changing the primary display, and unifying the outputs did not fix the display issue. I did not have a change to see if disabling the laptop display fixed the issue. It appeared that the virtual desktops got screwed up, but I may have been misinterpreting the result of the Firefox crash (I didn't show all three virtual desktops). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT Screwed up display on second monitor, momentary black displays. EXPECTED RESULT Nothing should have happened. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Place this in `~/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/10-no-anti-aliasing.conf`: ``` false ``` 2. Reboot computer 3. Log in OBSERVED RESULT Opened the application "Konsole". It came up but stopped responding. I opened the -- start menu? I guess that's "kicker" -- and typed "q", thinking to open qutebrowser. It froze. I couldn't even pull up a tty (ctrl-alt-f3). I had to power cycle the machine manually. The mouse worked, but the OS stopped responding. [k3b] [Bug 486737] Copy Medium for audio CD does not create an iso image
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486737 --- Comment #3 from Henry Pfeil --- >From Dolphin, Removable Devices, double-click "Audio CD" which opens audiocd:/?device=/dev/sr0. Choose "Full CD/Full CD.wav". Kioexec opens the file in Videolan's VLC (or whatever is your default for playing wav files), pause the playback. Then `cp -v ~/.cache/kioexec/krun/x-0/Full\ CD.wav " Et voila! I had to resort to such trickery because the k3b Clone tool produces two files, bin and toc, which needs to be converted before players like Elisa can read it. (toc2wav did nothing) I can do no further menu-tree testing because of k3b bug 486754. There might be something in k3b that produces a single wav file, but I can't find it. Committed on 07/05/2024 at 14:45. Pushed by carlosdem into branch 'master'. Show result while editing input Show result while editing input without the need to press the equal button, if the input reaches an invalid state (non computable) during editing, result will be cleared or not depending on the error, inputs that fail to be parsed like "1+#" trigger a result clear, inputs that yield a math error like "1/0" also clear the result, however intermediate inputs like "1+2+" will keep the "3" in the result display. If the user attempts to commit an invalid input using the equal button, an error message will appear as previously implemented. Changing the base mode or the trigonometric mode also triggers a result recalculation and update. A backspace signal clears the result display if the input reaches an invalid state regardless of the error type. Results are not committed to history unless the equal button is pressed. Change default result display to be empty instead of "0", it will also be empty if the input goes back to empty. It seems like Digikam looses images and albums over time, the images however are still present in the file system What I've figured out so far: - The column "album" of the table "Images" contains sometimes NULL. These images are not visible anymore in DK (since they don't belong to an album anymore), however the image still exists on the file system - Over time, the amount of images with album=NULL increases. In 2021, none of my images had album=NULL, now in 2024, I count ~1800 rows with images.album=NULL STEPS TO REPRODUCE Unfortunately, I don't know what triggered this issue. However, I have a setup where I commit an sql dump to git before each launch of DK, so I am (in theory) helpful to nail down the issue. I just don't know where to start. [plasmashell] [Bug 486743] Notifications leak memory
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486743 --- Comment #1 from Kai Uwe Broulik --- I had a quick look with hotspot and it seems like there’s a leak in QRhi somewhere. Seems every window gets its own RHI instance with its own glyph cache which is then leaked. Alas, I haven’t managed to figure out where it comes from or what the remedy would be, or if that’s even the case, or why it only really shows with notifications (I doubt it’s only notifications but they create a new window every time). for reference the leak stack in heaptrack: 2,7MB (33.2%) contribution to peak consumption in QRhi::nextResourceUpdateBatch() in libQt6Gui.so.6 and below. 2,7MB (33.2%) contribution to peak consumption in QSGDefaultRenderContext::glyphCacheResourceUpdates() in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 2,7MB (33.2%) contribution to peak consumption in QSGRhiTextureGlyphCache::createEmptyTexture(QRhiTexture::Format) in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 2,7MB (33.2%) contribution to peak consumption in QSGRhiTextureGlyphCache::endFillTexture() in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 2,8MB (34.5%) contribution to peak consumption in QTextureGlyphCache::fillInPendingGlyphs() in libQt6Gui.so.6 and below. 2,8MB (34.9%) contribution to peak consumption in QSGTextMaskMaterial::populate(QPointF const&, QList const&, QList const&, QSGGeometry*, QRectF*, QPointF*, QMargins const&) in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 2,8MB (35%) contribution to peak consumption in QSGDefaultGlyphNode::update() in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 2,8MB (35.1%) contribution to peak consumption in QSGInternalTextNode::addGlyphs(QPointF const&, QGlyphRun const&, QColor const&, QQuickText::TextStyle, QColor const&, QSGNode*) in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 2,8MB (35.1%) contribution to peak consumption in QQuickTextNodeEngine::addToSceneGraph(QSGInternalTextNode*, QQuickText::TextStyle, QColor const&) in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 2,8MB (35.1%) contribution to peak consumption in QSGInternalTextNode::doAddTextLayout(QPointF, QTextLayout*, int, int, int, int) in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 2,8MB (35.1%) contribution to peak consumption in QSGTextNode::addTextLayout(QPointF, QTextLayout*, int, int, int, int) in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 2,9MB (35.6%) contribution to peak consumption in QQuickText::updatePaintNode(QSGNode*, QQuickItem::UpdatePaintNodeData*) in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 3,0MB (37.5%) contribution to peak consumption in QQuickWindowPrivate::updateDirtyNode(QQuickItem*) in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 3,0MB (37.6%) contribution to peak consumption in QQuickWindowPrivate::updateDirtyNodes() in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 3,1MB (38%) contribution to peak consumption in QQuickWindowPrivate::syncSceneGraph() in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 3,1MB (38%) contribution to peak consumption in QSGRenderThread::sync(bool) in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 5,6MB (69.6%) contribution to peak consumption in QSGRenderThread::syncAndRender() in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 7,1MB (88.2%) contribution to peak consumption in QSGRenderThread::run() in libQt6Quick.so.6 and below. 7,1MB (88.2%) contribution to peak consumption in terminate_on_exception >::operator() in libQt6Core.so.6 and below. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486517 --- Comment #6 from rashid_...@gmx.de --- Thanks for the update. But you mentioned Dolphin, but it _is_ possible to open the CD in Dolphin.
