[konsole] [Bug 453142] Increase Contrast in the Tab Bar
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453142 Alex changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDSINFO |REPORTED Resolution|WAITINGFORINFO |--- --- Comment #2 from Alex --- A workaround is better than nothing. Can you reproduce or should I add a screenshot how it looks here? I have on the tab bar with Plastique theme: - 1-3 px lightgrey border above inactive tabs and the active tab is connected to the top border of the other tabs - Inactive tabs have a gradient with two light greys, the active tab has one solid lightgrey - The active tab is slightly higher overlapping the area below While this is visible when looking at the tab bar directly, it is hard to intuitively notice when looking at the terminal contents. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 486432] Wayland: Screen-wide Repaint Triggered by Any Application Change
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486432 --- Comment #4 from Alex Fiestas --- I did some extra testing This is reproducible with Plasma 6.0.4, stable from distro packages It is reproducible with just one screen (built-in eDP) Testcase: Open konsole, place it close to 0,0 and just write a letter. The expected damage should be somewhere close to 0x0 and narrow. Without knowing what I'm doing I've added a few qDebugs in Compositor::prePaintPass This might be perfectly normal behavior, just writing it down in case it is of any help - The incoming QRegion is always null - It always obtains the correct QRegion from layer->delegate()->prePaint(); I added another qDebug in paintPass, damages were ok as well. I added another in SceneDelegate::paint, here the QRegion finally changes >From QRegion(4,44 1066x21) To QRegion(1809,44 1066x21) which looks about right as well. I haven't dug deeper, perhaps this is just the paint effect being silly or me not understanding the paint effect correctly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

It can be reproduced with any app, not just konsole. I'm not an expert but as far as I know one of the most important architectural changes in wayland was that Apps can only operate on local coordinates which should make it impossible for konsole (or any other app) to send damage events that include the entire screen. The reciever automatically switches off after about five minutes of no audio input, and whenever it does, the TV renegotiates the HDMI connection with the PC. This causes a visual flash combined with the following ill effects: Firefox will become unresponsive, with only the top left quarter of the window contents visible, although the entire window decorations are rendered. Attempting to interact with this Firefox window will result in Firefox hanging. Turning the audio reciever back on does not fix the issue with Firefox, and it remains broken until restarting the application. If Firefox is restarted before the audio reciever is turned back on, this also results in the window becoming unresponsive. Hi Nate, while true, devices do report themselves as multi-capable, I don't think that mouse kcm should show devices that are not mouse. Expanding on what I said in comment #8, I don't think this Neon bug can be considered fixed until either - the `libpam-kwallet5` package is marked as substantive/necessary for pam-kwallet functionality as opposed to transitional (the description "This package can be removed" is outright false if you want this to work); OR - the file `pam_kwallet5.so` (or a new file that does the same thing) is included in one of the packages currently marked as necessary for pam-kwallet functionality: presumably `libpam-kwallet-common` (since it seems to be) but possibly `libpam-kwallet6`. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 483700] New: ICC profiles always loaded from specified location
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483700 Bug ID: 483700 Summary: ICC profiles always loaded from specified location Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.0.2 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: wayland-generic Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: agure...@protonmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I've found potentially undesirable behavior with ICC profiles. It seems that it's always loaded from the specified location in Display settings. I've added mine from the NAS, which causes two issues: 1) Whenever outside of home NAS is not available at boot, hence profile is not loaded 2) Field becomes unresponsive and new profile cannot be selected, when previous profile is not accessible I would assume that whatever icc file is specified it's copied somewhere, so it continues to be available, no matter the availability of the initial location (same can be said for cloud storage which may not be available at login time) STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install ICC profile from network location 2. Make said location unavailable 3. Try to login and change ICC profile OBSERVED RESULT No ICC profile loaded (and field is empty) and cannot set to new profile because location is unavailable and whole Display settings window hangs. EXPECTED RESULT ...something else? I would say that hang should not occur and/or message should be displayed that previous ICC cannot be found? That should probable be shown as system-wide message (a pop up?) at the time it fails to load. But again, I'd expect the specified file to be copied to some location and used from there. [kate] [Bug 481381] Crash when filtering certain information from pyright LSP
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481381 --- Comment #3 from Alex Lowe --- Thanks for responding Waqar! The pyright version you're using is quite old (2021 it seems): https://github.com/microsoft/pyright/releases/tag/1.1.193 I've tried with the oldest version I could get from pypi (1.1.225) and it still crashes for me. The crash is only reproducible when the Diagnostics tab is open, with LSP selected from the dropdown, and with Errors selected to the left of the filter box. It takes a few times messing with the annotations, but I can reliably reproduce it with all tried versions of pyright (1.1.225, 1.1.349, 1.1.352) by changing the return type of _extract_file to str, then to tuple[str, str], then back to str, then to tuple[str, str, str]. This occurs both in the current version in Kubuntu 24.04 (Version: 4:23.08.5-0ubuntu1) and in the version from snap (23.08.4 2023-12-10 (171)). I've attached another crash file using pyright 1.1.225. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482368 --- Comment #3 from Gurenko Alex --- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #2) > So there are a couple of different issues involved here. The black line > against the orange window is an app bug, as it's using client-side > decorations so KWin isn't involved with it. Try switching to server-side > decorations and see if it goes away. The static-looking line at the bottom > of the screen is a KWin issue though; pretty sure it's bug 459373. If it > goes away if you force Chromium into native Wayland mode, that's it. So, for the Chrome, indeed, I've forced Chrome and Electron apps to use wayland and I cannot reproduce it anymore. For the firefox, it seems to be reproducible at 115% scaling, but not at 125%, or at least it's much harder to find that size with issue on 125%. The whole scaling thing is causing very weird behavior that's very difficult to reproduce, because it's changing all the time :( -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[neon] [Bug 480380] kwallet not unlocking at login
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480380 Alex Ball changed: What|Removed |Added Ever confirmed|0 |1 CC||a.j.b...@bath.ac.uk Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED --- Comment #8 from Alex Ball --- I was hit by this problem after upgrading KDE Neon User Edition to MegaRelease 6. - `PAM_KWALLET5_LOGIN` environment variable was not set. - No socket was created at `/run/user/1000/kwallet5.socket`. - Therefore the `pam_kwallet_init` script did nothing. Thanks to this thread, I see this was caused by `libpam-kwallet5` being removed in the upgrade, and not being restored in the fixes released on 2 March. The issue is that `libpam-kwallet5` is marked and treated as a transitional package: - Its title now has "- transitional" at the end. - The description says "This package can be removed." - Its category is "Libraries - Old" - It depends on `libpam-kwallet6`. But since `libpam-kwallet5` contains the file of substance that makes everything work, in reality `libpam-kwallet6` depends on `libpam-kwallet5`. This looks like a clear case of a packaging error to me. Presumably `pam_kwallet5.so` was intended to move to `libpam-kwallet-common`? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480888 --- Comment #19 from Gurenko Alex --- There is something very odd happening: I've booted my existing F39 with 5.27.10 and spectacle 23.08.5-1.fc39 which we just got this week in Fedora testing and the issue is there, however I've downgraded it to the previously available 23.08.1-1.fc39 and the issue didn't reproduce, I've upgraded the package back and it was still working. I've rebooted afterwards and now it's not working neither with old version, nor after kicking package version back and forth. That's on my AMD Desktop system -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Here is it's also reproducible on a desktop with AMD GPU. Given the early screenshot it wasn't visible that the panel is different, maybe with later builds it became more apparent that there is state change during the screenshot, basically area capture is treated as a full screen app for a second. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I have a feeling it has something to do with the floating taskbar, it feel like it tries to defloat on screenshot and maybe there is a race condition: screenshot rectangles gets drawn, then the taskbar defloats and is drawn on top of that? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 481021] New: [Feature request] Automatic Dark Theme switcher
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481021 Bug ID: 481021 Summary: [Feature request] Automatic Dark Theme switcher Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: master Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: agure...@protonmail.com CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY I would like to propose a feature to automatically switch between Light and Dark mode based on time conditions, similar to how Night Light is currently implemented (sunset/sunrise at current/custom location, time based). Maybe whole Dark mode can go into separate setting and then it can be exactly like Night light, always on, always off (Light mode) + mentioned before. I understand it requires ensuring the theme and all related components are actually real time replaceable, but I think Plasma 6 did a lot to make it happen (like cursor was not updated until reboot.) Ideally it would be great to be able to have sets for Light and Dark mode: Wallpapers, Cursors, Plasma Styles, Application Styles, Icons. Actually probably everything from plasma global theme if it is to go the Plasma way. This would probably require a separate tracking for Wallpaper to be more user-friendly in regards to adding Light/Dark version than manipulating a file system: like adding Add/Modify Light version and Add/Modify Dark version button or something. I've got to be honest, I loved how MacOS has 5 wallpapers that gradually go from Very Light to Very Dark during the day, but that's probably for another day.
